If all you need is a tow and you don't mind paying a ridiculous amount, this company may be fine. But I would definitely discourage from using them if you need anything else. Customer service is below the most horrible. Our truck was broken into the day after we flew out of abq for thanksgiving week. We had used a park & stay hotel (also would not recommend doing that) and got a call that a window had been broken on our truck. We were out of the country and didn't have any option besides to have the truck towed and stored for the week. My husband made a few calls to try and find someone who would store the vehicle in an indoor space since we had a wide open broken window. J & M said they could do this so we went with them. My husband asked if picking the car up after hours on a Sunday evening would be would possible since that was when our flight arrived and we live 3 hours from the airport and had to be home for work Monday morning. He was told that we just needed to give dispatch a call earlier in the day to arrange the pickup so someone could meet us. So fast forward to Sunday when we are traveling home. My husband calls dispatch a few times and can't get anyone to answer. Finally gets someone on the phone (not who he originally spoke with) and they said no we couldn't pick it up that night. That was annoying, but we couldn't really do much about it and we understood it was maybe not in the norm, although they had said they would when we arranged the tow. So we rented a car at the airport and drove home that night. The next day we have to get our rental car back to the airport so my husband calls J&M to inform them we are heading in from 3 hours away to get our truck. We are told we need to be there by 4:30 or we can't get it. So we make arrangements at work and leave early to go get our truck. We get there to find it has been stored outside in a lot for the week. At this point, my husband is pretty frustrated. He asks to speak to the manager who refuses to even HEAR that someone told us it would be stored inside. Zero conversation or accepting that someone may have misinformed or even that there could have been a miscommunication. He straight said "you're lying" to my husband. Why would we have made that up?? In the end, it cost us $600 to have our car towed 5 miles, stored for 6 nights outside with no window, the additional cost of a rental car, and 6 extra hours of driving. If this company had just been honest and delivered what they promised on the phone, even just the indoor storage, we would have been fine with it all. But two "promises" not kept, a manager that is yelling at my husband that HE is lying about what he was told over the phone, and an astronomical price, I'd take my business anywhere but here. read more

Rate changed upwards 4 times prior to any tow. Unreliable pricing. Apparantly owned & operated by Mary Ellen & her daughter Jonathon the overall experience was negative. Mary Ellen is a delightful, competitive, old school small business owner who still understands the value of a customer and the need to remain competitive. Jonathon, the co-owner, is confused. Just remember, IF you're needing a tow you're already having a bad day...who needs the added negativity of a frustrated, high strung, service provider. 9pm at night on I40 my car breaks down, engine failure. My 1 year old and large malamute/husky dog are both in the back, 30 minutes away from home. NOT A SINGLE company would even answer my freaking call. (Can you imagine how infuriating?) My own insurance company said they could be there at 6am. Unwilling to leave my car on the side of the freeway in that particular area, I continue my search. I eventually get a couple quotes for well over $300, until I find Discount Towing. This wonder woman of a desk attendant got right to business with me, she got me a truck in 30 minutes. The price? $186. They took me from Albuquerque well into the Sandia Mountains. THANK YOU! Being open 24/7 is a MIRACLE, you never EVER know what kind of situation you may find yourself in and these people are completely accommodating unlike MANY other towing companies. A side note as well, the man driving the tow truck had to back my car down a very slender drive way with fence post on either side, IMPECCABLE job. I am extremely grateful for you all! read more

Driver towed my car to my home. I gave him my credit card and he went to the cab of his truck to write out the receipt. The total on the receipt was NOT the money debited from my bank account. I called the company and the woman on the phone said she couldn't give me a refund. I called my mechanic this morning and told them what had happened, I was asked what the driver looked like and was told they have had problems with that driver in the past and the owner is aware. Now because my card was compromised I have to get another card. Shady employees, not recommended. read more

If you're from New Mexico then you know the most dangerous place you can be is stopped at a red light because you're more likely to be rear ended here than anywhere else except maybe the side walk. I took my jalopy into Discount Collision and with the naked eye I cannot tell there was ever a scratch on the car. The car was returned completely detailed inside and out. I'm not sure what other places charge, but the prices seemed fair (paint, parts and $45/hr labor). They top that off with a satisfaction guarantee for as long as you own the car. read more

GPS nightmare! Sent me the wrong way while trying to find a certain hiking trail so my husband and I ended up in the middle of no where! Hit a pretty big rock and busted my oil tank! Thank goodness for these people! I had no idea what I was going to do! Although the driver (I believe his name was Jon) got lost looking for my vehicle (like I said it was in the middle of nowhere), he persisted and finally found it!! It was over an hour from my house but when he got here he was very kind and didn't seem upset at all! I know I would be! if I could give zero stars I would. Sure they were quick, but they were also quick to damage my car. While lifting onto the flatbed the "new guy" scrapped and broke my front fender. When I pointed this out his partner was concerned with the cable being broken... not damaging my car. If you're already having a bad day from needing a tow, they will only make it worse. I used Discount towing per my mechanic's recommendation. He said it would be around $60-$70 to have my car towed to his business. I called and made an appointment for two, Becky, the customer service rep/ receptionist made me feel comfortable and I had already judged that if my mechanic uses them, there would be no hassles. I WAS SO WRONG. At 2:30, they still hadn't shown up. I called and was transferred TWICE. Apparently my request had been skipped over. They apologized and said they would be at my place by three, so I said okay and waited. Four o'clock rolls by and STILL NOTHING. I called and Becky answered again, apologizing profusely, but still offering no solutions to my now dwindling schedule. She said she had been out for lunch (WHO TAKES A LUNCH HOUR AT 3???) and wasn't able to deal with the scheduling fiasco. By this point my mechanic calls to tell them that his business closes at five and they need to speed things along. Finally, at four thirty, Luis comes by and assesses the situation. After about ten minutes, the car was docked and off to the shop. I basically wasted my entire afternoon waiting for Discount towing. They should have called and let me know they were running late. On the plus side, they did knock off ten dollars, which was the least they could do in this situation. However, I wouldn't use them again or recommend them to friends/ family. read more

Went to Joseph to get my bumper fixed, and during the quote process he was extremely helpful and we agreed to a price to fix it (it had some minor tears on the side). Fast forward to the completed job, and it looks good so I pay him and go on my merry way. A week later after some interstate driving, the side of the bumper is hanging off! I asked him what it was about and he said to bring it back in to get it fixed. I bring it in the next day and he tells me that the bracket won't fit the bumper and I need to set aside a full day to drop the car off and get it the bracket adjusted. I work full time and am getting my masters, so it took me about 3 weeks to coordinate rides, my schedule etc. I call him today and he tells me that there's NOTHING HE CAN DO. That last he remembers, my job was completed. He has to audacity to tell me that he's too busy for me now and that the only way the bracket will fit is with an entirely new bumper. That's not what we agreed to and not what I paid for. The quote/contract clearly stated that the bumper be fixed 100%. Not 90%. I tell him it's not ethical and if we agreed to something he should follow through, and all he tells me is we can't do it, either get a brand new bumper or you're basically screwed. I warn you, do not do business with Joseph and Discount Towing. You don't need the headache. Now I have to go attempt to cancel the credit card transaction and look into seeing him and his company in small claims court. It's not worth it, find someone else for your body work needs. read more
