We moved into a lovely home- but the kitchen sink was a disaster! Someone had "painted" it- and I think they used just a latex paint! Gargie came to the rescue. This review is long-overdue. Back in 2015, my 1937 cast iron and porcelain bathroom sink and tub were showing their age. I hated the idea of replacing them (they just don't make 'em like this any more), so I searched for options and found Discovery Coatings. Gargie responded to my message quickly with a very reasonable quote. We scheduled the appt. for a few weeks later, but at the time I was managing a botched kitchen remodel so I had to reschedule. Then I had to reschedule again(!). I finally surrendered to my situation and explained that I'd have to reach out in a few weeks with an update. I felt terrible, but Gargie couldn't have been more patient and understanding. Fast-forward ***5 months*** (that was a rough time), I was finally in a position to commit to a date. Gargie was about the nicest guy you could imagine, explaining that a) he no longer served addresses in SF but would make an exception for me since we'd been in touch, and b) he'd honor the original quote he'd given me. It was more than generous of him, and a refreshing contrast to the headaches we'd recently endured from several other contractors. He and his assistant were prompt, friendly, and did a great job. It required 2 appointments and looked amazing. Fast-forward again almost exactly 2 years to the present day: Gargie made good on a promise to provide free touch-ups since the original work was done. The tub and sink were still going strong, but some chips had appeared in the built-in cup/toothbrush holder and soap dish. (Note that these weren't part of the original scope he'd quoted, but he offered to do them anyway at no add'l charge). All touched up -- we're back to awesome! Gargie did an AMAZING job refinishing our cast iron bath tub. The tub looks awesome. The exterior was rusted and in horrible shape and the interior was scratched. He and and his business partner, Jun are professional, affable and easy going. While I am not removing stars because the jobs was done very very well and no one else I called could do the exterior, they had to do the job over two different days, and I did not know this in advance. They did the exterior first and because it had to dry before they could flip it, they could not do the interior. Since he knew this in advance, I'm not sure why he did not say something before. If I had known before hand, it would not have been as big of a deal to me. Like I said, the job was amazing and tt was worth the wait! read more

Our bathroom looks brand new, brighter and cleaner after the resurfacing work on the tub surround tiles and tub. Also now that the tub tile grout has been painted over, it doesn't seem to get the pink mold. We have used their service twice and their latest paint seems less stinky. However, resurfacing the tub made it super slippery. We opted not to get their anti slip offering to save on cost. Maybe that shouldn't be optional. Gargie and his crew are as professional as you can get. The crew comes in the first day to do the prep and the spray and he comes in the next day to polish and quality control. He will fix it if it is not done right. It works really well for me and my tub is now beautiful. I mentioned my wife is pregnant and I have concerns about the chemicals that produced during the process. He advises me to keep her out of the house for a day and have the crew keeps the dust and chipped paints to the minimum using the vent and clean up afterward. They will answer any question and concern you have before starting the job. This way you can still decide if you want to move forward. Highly recommended. When the paint of the tub has issue due to scratches or tub mat with sucking beneath 2 years later, they fixed it as long as it is under warranty.
