Discovery Cove is a great location all-inclusive experience to bring you away from the USA and allow you to feel more like the Bahamas/Caribbean. Honestly, this location reminded me of my honeymoon at Sandals in Antigua. The location is easy to find with a great big parking lot. You enter into their lobby to check-in. We did the dolphin swim and all-you-can-drink package. However, they still offer free sodas/icees, etc if you don't want to pay for premium drinks. We arrived at 7. They allowed us to eat by 730, we were allowed to wander part of the park at 8 but couldn't touch the water or rest of the park until 9. Very odd. It is nice how they canceled all the traffic/city noise while you stay here. The breakfast was amazing. It was supposed to be buffet style but due to Covid...they gave you little servings of everything on the plate and you can just pick what you want on your tray. Eating was fun because birds would wonder and try to steal your food. There are a lot of signs saying not to feed them. After breakfast, we wandered the park until our assigned time to do the SeaVenture underwater. This was interesting but I doubt I would ever do it again. We wear this headgear to breathe underwater. You don't feel the weight since they put it on as you enter the water. At the bottom, you feel weightless. The view was hard to see especially since you couldn't look up or down due to the loss of pressure in your helmet. And it was very hard to balance yourself in the weightless water at the bottom. However, the overall experience was amazing. You would walk around, in a line, into different areas while different types of fishes swim around you...bumping into you...hitting you with the tails, etc. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity despite myself having issues balancing myself. Once we were done, we got to go to the dolphin swim class. This was one of the best experiences I had. We got up and close to a few dolphins, got to pet/massage them including a small swim session. I thought SeaVentures was good but this was the best experience of my life to date. Not to mention, I got dolphin kisses too. It felt like we plenty of time with them..maybe 30-45 minutes of learning and playing with them? Afterwards, my wife and I were able to experience the rest of the park. There was a section were you could snorkel with the fishes and touch stingrays. I avoided this since I am not a strong swimmer but my wife loved it and did it many times. On the other side of the park was a lazy river, I think. Honestly, I attempted this, and luckily, there was a lifeguard to warn you about the quickly 8-foot deep area because I attempted this many times with zero success. I'm pretty sure I might have drowned... my wife claims it was more like I was freaking out and splashing but I am sure I drowned. (Kidding of course since they had plenty of lifeguards nearby). I even had a life jacket and two noodles which didn't help my non-swimming self. I wonder if they will allow me to bring in a floaty with two arm vests or not. Must wonder for next time. Otherwise, if you don't want to deal with the lazy...I mean Extreme River, you can also see some otters or a bird aviation. There was a nice area to sit in swallow water to enjoy your drink. Lunch was like a buffet again. There was a person to serve you different types if main courses but you could mix and match as much as you want. Then they had single servings of salads, fruits, and dessert. Overall, this is an amazing place to experience. You feel like you in the Caribbean/Bahamas. It is a little confusing on what you can do and can't do, but there are plenty of people to ask questions with. If you decide to attend, I highly recommend you to swim with the dolphins. I am sure to return in the future only because my wife wants too. But I did enjoy my time there. read more

Place was kool and everything but few things I would do to save you money. Drink package was not worth it to me, it was bottom shelf liquor($40). You also get beer and wine included free. Swimming with the dolphin is not really swimming with the dolphin. It's just picture, a hug, a kiss and a quick ride holding on to his or her top fin. Dolphin experience is 30 mins or less. Orientation video was longer. The best part about my day was the sea adventure. Food wasn't all that good but a nice snack to hold you over. All in all its a one time thing. Today May 18 2021. I visited the park this would be my forth time, this place is usual delightful.However I felt like we were targeted. Upon receiving the snorkels the associated stated due to Covid 19 do not return them which is a mask/SNORKL. While leaving the resort we were singled out of all the white (other) individuals as if we shopped lifted , he approached us extremely room and aggressive. This was totally uncalled for it was very embarrassing. Mean while 15mins prior a white Merle in the star Carbana stuffed over 10pairs of Mark into his blue back and walked right out of the building. I am VERY disappointed in this business establishment.The workers were very kind and polite and it was fun except for the food and the wetsuits.The vest wetsuit I was wearing all day because I had to.I applied sunscreen throughout the day and yet the vest wetsuit gave me an uneven tan line. We didn't order dolphin experience and when I saw how ridiculously short this experience was I was glad I didn't spend extra $ on it. Besides if it rains they close everything down! So beautiful, your body and mind just automatically relax due to the sceneries. We went 1st week of Jan and weather was in 80s. It was really nice. We were lucky with the weather but it could be in the 70s or 60s at this time of year. 1. Showers include shampoo, body wash, hair dryer and plastic bag for dirty clothes, and plenty of towels. No combs available. 2. Breakfast is just basic, not that good but lunch food is better. Snacks provided until 5:30pm. 3. Locker is provided. 4. All water ways in park are heated which is very nice and enjoyable except the the dolphin and reef pools which are cold. 5. Wetsuits and goggle sets are provided. 6. Sunblock is provided. With all that said-- 1. didn't like the way the lazy river was build. It has different rock layers that you get hurt easily when you swim by-- so be careful! 2. Also I wish there is longer time allow with the dolphin swim and more activities to do. 3. The servers at meal time were not friendly, no smiles. 4. Price for the pictures with the dolphins is ridiculously expensive!! $40 for 1 picture or $99 for 4 pics, etc. You are not allowed to take any picture with a dolphin except the staff of Discovery Cove so you are forced to buy the picture. read more

This was my family's first time at Discovery Cove. We arrived right at 7am- as the website said pools open at 8am- so we thought we would have breakfast then be ready for the pools. Greeting staff were super nice you were able to book for dolphin encounters at the last minute for 9 AM. However we sat down to have breakfast and it was probably some of the worst food that I've ever had. I'm fairly certain the eggs are powdered, coffee was really weak just overall really not good. Then we were told the pool is an open until 9 AM so we had an hour and a half to walk around and it was freezing definitely not the parks fault! Dolphin encounter was great - again staff is super amazing and really nice. The lazy river was really awesome and really warm, it was nice to just float. Overall the amenities the park are really great makes you feel like you're in a resort. I would say the only negative I had from the entire day was the food I just felt the food was filler food - cheap and not great quality. I was hoping for a fresh fruit smoothies, healthy choices, But all staff went above and beyond to make us feel really welcome! Discovery Cove was such a great place to go for my birthday! Being all inclusive really takes the stress out of the vacation. If you go for your birthday they give you a red lanyard and staff are wishing you a happy birthday all day. It's really sweet. I really loved snorkeling with the stingrays and their lazy river is quite relaxing. The aviary was also a nice break from the water activities. The included food is really good and I had no problem finding things to eat as a vegetarian. My only issue is that the water is SO cold. We even went in late July, but I could only stand to snorkel for so long before I had to get out and warm up. Made the trip a little less enjoyable, but overall I'd definitely go back! read more

We had the best day! If you're looking for a day-cation this is the perfect place. We have 9 year old twins and their favorite parts were meeting and interacting with the dolphins and swimming in the reef with the marine life. We had Josie as our cabana person! She was awesome! The pastries were soggy, and the only good item was the yogurt! The drinks were incredibly sweet and their desserts were very dry! There were no animal exhibits, that was complete bullshit! Amazing experience! You'll not be disappointed. This is my 2nd visit, and I intend to return. For a day pass, your breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks are included. The breakfast was decent (eggs, French toast, sausage, fruit, potatoes etc). The lunch was fantastic (steak, salmon, pulled pork etc). Swimming with the fish and stingrays is breathtaking.. you can spend as much time as you want there, in the lazy river, lounging in the beach, wherever. There's several upgrades you can purchase, such as swimming with the dolphins. Worth EVERY penny. Currently they limit the amount of guests, so social distancing isn't difficult. Family of 4, park visit plus dolphin swim for all four, cost was ~350 per person, so with all taxes ~1500. Definitely a lot of money. However we bought as part of package with 5 night hotel for another $750, and unlimited visits to all the other parks were included (SeaWorld, Aquatica, Busch Gardens) - so we did ALL of those parks in 5 days for "free." FYI if you go to any of parks before going to hotel or discovery cove, it's no problem. The ticket people can pull it up from your confirmation number and with your ID. For Discovery Cove - arrive at 7am and get your dolphin swim time assigned (first come first serve). In summer there are lots of afternoon thunderstorms so better to have an early dolphin swim time and avoid risk of it being cancelled. From the moment you walk in, the staff is warm, friendly and accommodating. It really does feel like walking into another world. You check in, get badges with your picture that you wear all day, and get your dolphin swim time. Our dolphin swim was 8:10, the first one of the day. All food, snacks, alcohol is included in price. 7:30-We ate breakfast (it's good, served cafeteria style with lots of options), then we put stuff in locker, got sunscreened up and headed to assigned area at 8 where you have to fill out waivers, watch quick video, then they take you to water for dolphin swim. The dolphin water is cold, maybe 72-75 degrees. But we didn't wear wet suits (they have them if you want, everything you need for the day is included even sunscreen, towels, snorkels, masks, etc). You got accustomed to the cold dolphin water pretty easily. You're in a group of ~8. First they bring dolphin by you several times to pet it. Then you swim out and ride the dolphin back, then you pet it some more, feed it fish, watch it do some tricks, take multiple pictures with it. In my opinion, it's a lot of contact and a lot of time spent with it. The trainers are very nice and encourage questions. They are super patient. Nothing was rushed. If I had to come up with any complaint it would be that during pictures, there was a rock wall in background that some people were apparently walking on so you can see some random legs/rear ends in your pics. Luckily they take 3-4 of each pose but really they shouldn't allow people in background of your very expensive pictures. More about picture cost later. Dolphin swim was awesome, if you are going to Discovery Cove, it's a must. Also, no jewelry - no earrings, a plain non jeweled wedding band is ok but literally nothing else. Sunglasses on your face or hats are ok, but nothing else loose, no cameras or phones in dolphin water. Your non dolphin swimming friends can stand on rocks and attempt to take your pic with their camera, while at the same time ruining the background of paying swimmers pics. After swim, you view your pics and select package. Least expensive package is $99 for 4 prints. Next is $169 for 6 prints and all your digital photos. Most expensive was over $200 and I can't remember what all you get b/c that was a hard no for me. We did $99 b/c we didn't care about getting every single individual pose. You don't pay right then, you go later and pick them up and pay. After purchase I took pics of our pics and cut out those people's legs/rear ends in background. Tip - after dolphin swim, do coral reef b/c that water is also cold so you're body is still used to it. Grand/coral reef is very awesome. Not huge but lots of cool fish, tons of sting rays - and I mean huge ones. You see lots of smaller ones too (maybe 20) but when you see the huge ones (maybe 3), it's kind of mind blowing. You're not sure if you're safe or not but either way it's pretty awesome. Part of it connects to the sharks and you look down and see this ginormous shark, thinking what in the world, then realize glass is separating you from it. Whew! But essentially it's like you swam with the sharks. Some people are literally in the thing with the sharks but yeah, nope. After all that we headed to lazy river. The water is nice and warm. The river is long and really neat. Maybe snorkel it once and noodle-float it once. Also there's a separate oasis part with otters that are also behind glass but it's really neat. There's also an aviary. 11am - lunch - also cafeteria style with lots of choices. Everything is unlimited, you can get whatever you want. Snacks in between like soft pretzels, chips, cookies, etc. I think they served lunch until 3pm. It did start to storm while we were there, around 1pm I think. Lightning was less than 8 miles away so everyone had to get out of water. Luckily we had done everything by 1pso didn't mind as much. I did see some sad wanna be dolphin swimmers that didn't have early swim time, and they looked super disappointed. I hope they got to do their swims later. We recently visited Orlando for a Disney vacation in honor of my birthday. The only non-Disney park we visited was Discovery Cove. The more we thought about it, the more perfect it sounded for a break between our very tiring and busy Disney park days. It would be an actual day of relaxation compared to the others which were also great but comparably exhausting. The prices can be staggering, and they can vary from week to week or day to day. Whatever the tickets cost, please keep in mind that this park is all-inclusive (with the exception of the dolphin encounter which costs more). All of your food (mediocre) and drinks (including alcohol) are included in the price for breakfast, lunch, and snacks in between. You have free use of wet suits, snorkel gear (you even get to keep your souvenir snorkel), and all of the park's exhibits. I thought the Oasis area and the Wind-Away River were pretty uninspiring. They were also the least crowded, and this is why. The water is a lot warmer, but there isn't much to see or do. The Explorer's Aviary was our favorite attraction in that area of the park, and we loved meeting a variety of gorgeous and colorful birds and feeding them by hand. We easily could have spent hours in there! We also absolutely fell in love with the Grand Reef. This was the busiest and most crowded area of the park. Keep in mind that Discovery Cove always controls crowd levels by only letting a certain number of people into the park each day, so even in this busy part of the park it didn't feel that bad and we could easily swim around for as long as we wanted exploring the reef. We DID partake in the dolphin encounter. It was a big part of the reason we came to the park, but even without it our day would have been full with relaxation and adventure. We met an adorable dolphin named Akai who we instantly fell in love with. Arrangements had been made previously to have Akai surprise me with a Happy Birthday buoy and it really was a wonderful surprise! He then proceeded to "sing" me happy birthday. It was an unforgettable experience and a great surprise that I recommend for anyone wanting to plan something special for a loved one. I was even told that sometimes people do marriage proposals the same way! Who wouldn't say "Yes" to such a creative proposal? We decided (especially considering the special circumstances with the dolphin birthday surprise) to go all out for the deluxe photo and dvd package. It was a better deal than getting the photo cd and dvd a la carte and it came with a bunch of extra things like large printed photos, a poster-sized print, a photo album, key chains, etc. The one thing we didn't realize is that when they make your dvd they remove the original sound and replace it with a musical soundtrack. When we went to pick up our order the staff member casually mentioned that as he went to check the dvd to make sure it worked correctly. I suppose this is because the sound recording is straight from the camera source and not a professional recording (ie it has lots of other random ambient sounds), but this was really upsetting to us because a big part of the reason we wanted the dvd was to capture the sounds of Akai singing to me. FORTUNATELY when we explained the situation the staff member was able to burn us a replacement copy of the dvd using the original sound. We had to come back about 45 minutes later (a big reason why you shouldn't wait till the park closes to wait in line to get your pictures) and the result was exactly what we wanted!! I don't get the appeal of a dvd with no sound other than music that just plays throughout. It actually seems pretty lame, but I know that other dolphin experience places do the same thing. Keep this in mind if you plan to order a dvd. You're paying enough money for it that they should be able to give you what you want. All in all, our day at Discovery Cove was FABULOUS! We will definitely be back in the future with the whole family. Kids over 6 can swim with the dolphins, so we might wait until both my nephews are old enough to participate (and appreciate) this really special experience! read more

BF and I were in Orlando for Disney World, when planning our vacation, I did some research on where to swim with dolphins in Florida, hoping there would be something close to Disney World. Thanks to Google, I found Discovery Cove! I read their package and it sounded like it was worth getting. We did the Day Resort Swim with Dolphin Package which included breakfast & Lunch meals, unlimited snacks and beverages (yes, including alcohol!!), unlimited visits to the other water parks around, 14 consecutive visits to Sea World and of course the package included swim experience with dolphins. The dolphin experience was a 30 minute interaction with one of the dolphins, and another dolphin to swim with that takes you back to shore. If you can't swim (ahem, me); it's okay, you have the choice to do deep or shallow to swim with the dolphin.... This place is pretty cool, the water was heated, except (of course) where the dolphins were and the snorkeling area. It was my my first time snorkeling and it was amazing...got to touch/swim with the sting rays as well (located in the Grand Reef). We also got to feed some birds in Explorer's Aviary. Discovery Cove is just amazing, it's like a little island in Orlando, a way to relax if you're in town. You don't need to bring much with you since it's all inclusive! Complimentary towels, snorkeling gears, sunscreen, wetsuit/vest; really all you need is extra dry clothes and waterproof camera. :) What's also nice is that they only allow a certain amount of people in a day to avoid overcrowding. Giving Discovery Cove 4.5 stars, yes minus .5 because we can't bring in our cameras when doing the swim with dolphin experience. Booo... The pictures cost me almost $200 (including DVD). I was so upset when Janet from customer service was only able to read from her book about dynamic pricing rather than answering my questions and assisting me. Supposedly they have a sale going on till tomorrow. We went on last week to figure out how much tickets were going to cost for my birthday, saved up, went back on only for them to have gone up $600 more for the same day! I checked on April 22nd, literally 1 week! I literally asked how they expect people to financially plan for purchasing and Janet, a "supervisor" said "I don't know how to answer that question, I can only tell you about the dynamic pricing". The staff and the place are amazing actually no phenomenal. Expensive but worth every penny it comes when quality. If this was the first thing I did in Orlando, I probably would have given this place 2...maybe 3 stars.....but after walking for 9 hours the day before at Universals....Discovery Cove was bliss. Food isn't gourmet or anything but hey...it's free. Eat some food [breakfast, lunch and snacks FREE], lounge around, take a nap, have a beer, swim in the coral reef, touch some rays, walk around in the aviary, float in the lazy river [SO RELAXING]. It IS a small place so I get why people might feel limited. The dolphin swim was 1 star [i swam with dolphins in Cancun and they actually let you spend more one on one time with the dolphin]. Discovery Cover could definitely use some improvement in this area. My Favorite Part: Snorkeling :) The coral reef was small, but it was still an experience. They have these huge and i'm talking about HUGE manta rays that actually swim side by side with you and just seeing how large and beautiful they are really take your breath away. There are also 2 glass sections in the reef where they keep the sharks and barracudas and it's an adrenaline rush. You definitely can't see the glass so it's creepy seeing sharks swimming straight at you or a barracuda just staring at you on the other side. Biggest PRO about Discovery Cove: ....if it's hot which it probably is because Orlando is always hot....Discovery Cove is a great escape from the heat! read more

Worst experience ever. I was very excited to join the shark diving exhibit. I booked the night before and attempted to call in the morning several times to ensure everything was good but their line services were unable. I finally get there and after waiting for someone to come out I finally get the attention of one of the attendants in the front who say I actually have to go back down to park though their directions/signs said differently. Im then told at the final checkin I'm unable to complete the shark diving without an additional $250 spent on an entry ticket as this differs from the dive. I asked why their system would allow us to purchase without an entry and why no notification was provided at the time of booking and they just kept giving me round about answers. Was really disappointed by how this trip turned out, was a total waste of my time and money. I literally only wanted to go in for my 30 minute shark diving session. Based off the staff and what I saw was available for this establishment I won't be coming back and suggest you save your money as well. Not much of a point to come somewhere when it's run by children and no one actually wants to help. read more

You can choose to go for the day without doing the dolphin meet and greet and enjoy complimentary beer and wine and unlimited food including breakfast and lunch options. This is the best place that I've visited in Orlando florida. We went to disney but this is the place I enjoyed more. Its a bit pricey but everything is so worth it. I think we paid $370 per person which include the wet suite, sunblocks, googles and other equipment that its fee to bring home, food for breakfast, snacks & lunch. Whenever you feel like drinking or eating then you can go grab some food or snacks! Heaven! Haha. When we went we did the swim with the dolphin & under the water packages. It was extremely fun! All the crews are very helpful & nice. They're very organized. You can swim & rest all day. They have bird sanctuary that you can feed the different types of birds. Theirs a free photo too. At the end of the day you can see the pics they took for you & you decide if you wanna get it but this you need to pay. It was an amazing experienced & I wanna do this again!! Wow, wow, wow! We were treated like VIPs and we just had the basic package that allowed us to swim with dolphins. First off, there first aid staff was knowledgeable and responded immediately with medication. With all that chaos, I left my credit card with and my waterproof wallet on the lounge chair. Side note - I purchased the waterproof case and they helped me make sure it was worked right! That was a plus for me because I was always scared they would fail but they walked me through the steps. We went 12/27 and I didn't discover it was missing until 12/31. Get this!! They mailed me the waterproof holder with my credit card inside. There was no tempering with my card and they shipped it certified FedEx. Now that's treatment beyond our visit! I can't be more grateful! We want to go back every year! Bare with me- my visit was a couple of years ago, but I still feel like a review needs to be left. Everything is all inclusive (except you can add swimming with dolphins- which you definitely should add). You arrive - there's food everywhere, beaches everywhere, relaxation hammocks, everywhere. You get the picture. I've never felt more in a state of luxury in my entire life. The staff is amazing, food was delicious (I remember there being fresh cookies). If you haven't been, you should definitely go to Discovery Cove! Worth every penny, and I spent a lot on additional things they have, including doing the Animal Trek, Dolphin Swim, and Flamingo Mingle and buying the digital photo package (which I took 50 dollars off due to a promotion they have and provided me a gift card upon booking). I get to see a lot of animals, interact with each one of them, and have my pictures taken; and the pictures are wonderful! They've provided a lot of food and services, along with drinks, towels, and places to clean your shoes when they were filled with sand, and if you happen to get hurt (as my feet were hurting by the afternoon), they have professionals to provide first aid to you. They provided all the gear you need for snorkeling, and even if you can't swim, there are floats and life jackets provided to you and lifeguards at every corner. One day in Discovery Cove is better than three days in Disney World combined, and I can attest to that! read more

We did the flamingo mingle and Kathleen and Sarah were sooooo informative patient and amazing. We did the sea trek which safety was again enforced. Our guides even took photos of us with our camera. BEWARE: they will not refund due to a hurricane. You have to give a 30 day notice. However hurricanes do not give a 30 day notice! Orlando International Airport is even closed. Other amusement park(s) such as Universal refunded without any hesitation due to the hurricane. ---- Business manager replies that they are closed anyways Tues-Thursday due to off season but that's irrelevant to what I'm saying. Discovery Cove is not well advertised. Almost everyone has heard of Sea World, but Discovery Cove...not so much. Some friends and their daughter has decided to go down for Spring Break, and we decided to go as well and do the dolphin swim. Driving up, you can just see how nicely the grounds are kept up and it was definitely a different feel in a good way from the day before at Universal Studios. Thankfully there is a cap on how many dolphin swims happen a day so you are not overly inundated with people. People were dispersed all different places from the lazy river, dolphin swim, laying out, snorkeling, Bird aviary, or visiting one of the snack bars. It was quiet here in comparison to the rest of our trip and peaceful and relaxing. I had decided to get the private cabana which was a great choice. It's nicely shaded with your own mini fridge filled with drinks, hammock, lounge chairs, snacks, and an attendant that comes by to check on everyone. You can ask for beer and wine, too. The dolphin swim was so fun. I'm just amazed at the intelligence of these beautiful creatures and how well the trainers have done to teach them all they do. We even got to swim one at a time with them. I feel kind of badly they aren't in the ocean, but they are in a safer environment where they live for decades longer than they would in the elements of the ocean. You can do snorkeling looking for a multitude of different fish, stingrays, and they even have an area to view birds. The lazy river area is heated so the water isn't cold but the part where the dolphins swim is. They offer wetsuits to keep your body temperature more even if you want. I'm a wimp in cold water so I opted for the wetsuit. They do have professional photographers in the water snapping photos that you can purchase for keepsake. Four photos is $105, and the entire photo package I believe was $229. You can partake in a breakfast buffet and lunch buffet which is part of your fee for the day. The food actually wasn't bad and the snacks were a great addition. They even had slushees for the kids and for people like me who like that too. I'm so glad I booked this for my last day here. It was the perfect ending to a more stressful trip than I had anticipated. If you love dolphins, I highly suggest doing this at least once. And book early because they can sell out. read more

When we got here to check in, we realized that we accidentally missed our reservation to swim with the dolphins by a day. Completely our fault, and we understood that we weren't able to get in right away because of miscommunications on our end, but the way the lady who checked us in handled it, was disappointing. She seemed very rude and less than helpful, and made it sound like we couldn't enter the park at all. After talking to the manager, we were able to get in and had to check back with the Customer Services to see if we could get in through cancellations or reschedules. Aside from the lady that checked us in, the staff was all very friendly and super helpful! The food here was decent food for being all inclusive and it was nice to have access to snacks and drinks around the park. The Great Reef was one of the coolest parts of the visit, and it was amazing to see the different kinds of fish and the sting rays. The only disappointing part was they made it sound like you could swim with otters, but they were behind glass. After lunch, we were able to get scheduled for swimming with the dolphins, which was by far the best experience of the whole trip. Hunter was the main dolphin trainer that we worked with and he made the experience INCREDIBLE. He was so great with the dolphins and he made it so much fun. The staff was so patient with the dolphins and if they didn't want to do something, they were never forced to do it. This was by far the best part, and we were super grateful that we could get in. I tried to contact Discovery Cove several times only to get a message that they were temporarily closed. I finally got through to "Guest Relations Specialist" today and was told that I needed to cancel my reservation 30 days prior to the reservation date.
