This is a CAN'T MISS experience! I guarantee the first question that your friends will ask you…read moreafter your Niagara Falls vacation will be - "did you ride the boat?" Boarding experience was efficient. They have attendants to usher you into one of several elevators. Then a short walk down to the platform while you wait for one of two boats so the wait is not long. Red ponchos given to you which are complimentary. PRO TIP: you'll get the best pictures if you're lucky enough to be able to get a spot on the upper deck near the railing. We were so lucky to be "cut off" from the line ahead of us for one boat and had to wait for the next boat, which turned out to be excellent for us. I wonder if you can request to wait if it looks like you're going to be the last ones on a boat. Surely the last in line will be towards the back of the boat or on the lower deck. But even if that's you, don't be worried - the boat sails in, and then turns around to go out. So even if you are in the back, there will be an opportunity for a picture. No announcements from the captain. No demonstration of putting on life jackets or at least told where they are located. Any boat tour I've done in the US would typically have something like this. Guess it's different in Canada. Everyone loaded, the boat just goes. And what a spectacular view. Take your family pictures as you are getting close, because after a certain point, you will feel the power of the falls. Eventually all you'll be able to see is mist. And it will feel like you're caught in a rain storm. The crowd all yells, laughs, and screams in excited unison! At some point, you could even say you're just trying to survive. You'll be lucky if the poncho hood stays on your head and that it covers both of your arms. Our hats were soaked and shoes were drenched, but we had so much fun! Definitely an experience that my kids will remember for their lifetime! Highly recommend!

Tasted like it had been boiled for hours then sprayed with grill marks. Simply awful. The one and only bite I took was already half way down my throat when I realized I wanted to get as far away from it as possible. That out of the way... Everything else was a charm! I boarded Niagara City Cruises with the confidence of someone who had never seen Niagara Falls and assumed the complimentary red poncho would keep me dry. Wrong. We got absolutely blasted by the falls! It was spectacular fun! The experience began innocently enough. The falls looked beautiful from a distance. People were smiling. Birds were flying. Families were taking photos. Then the boat moved closer and nature abruptly decided that everyone on board needed a shower. Literally thousands of gallons of water a second are crashing from the sky. The poncho performed admirably if its job was protecting approximately 60 percent of my body. My hair and face were soaked. My pant legs and shoes were drenched. My poncho kept bellowing in the wind. I looked around at one point and I saw that this was everyone's story. The closer we got to the falls, the less we could see. The magnificent view slowly transformed into a white wall of mist, wind and life choices. Conversations became impossible. Communication was reduced to pointing, yelling and laughing. The power is overwhelming. The noise is deafening. The mist is relentless. The memory is unforgettable. Yes, it was incredible and I wish to have this experience -- without the hot dog -- all over again!

The crowd was light when I got there (around 5 pm on a Sunday), so I didn't have to wait long going down or up, or to get views. Anyway, it's a great time. You don't really get that wet, just misted on, and if you go during the daytime, you should dry right off in a few minutes in the sun. Self guided was you go at your own pace, and take as long or as short as you want. There are a couple of small viewing areas at the end of tunnels, and a larger open area where most of the view is. It's a brief interlude if there are no crowds, like 20-30 minutes. Obviously, crowds will make it longer, but most of that is because of waiting for the elevator going up and down, and not so much the viewing areas themselves. If you do it, consider pairing it with Niagara Takes Flight; it's in the same building, and although I didn't like it, if you want to experience it or do it, it makes sense to knock them both out while you're right there.

It's hard to imagine that people once attempted to go over the Falls in a barrel, or so the stories say! The Maid of the Mist takes you right to the base of the Falls and it is AWESOME... and WET! Don't let those little ponchos fool you. You are going to get soaked, and the roar of the water is incredible. The Visitor Center inside the park isn't nearly as impressive as the Discovery Center Welcome Center, but it offers clean restrooms, a refreshment stand, and an information desk. There are also plenty of fantastic photo opportunities throughout the park and along the viewing areas. The nightly fireworks display is spectacular, though it does get crowded. For wheelchair users, there is a fabulous, spacious ramp that provides easy access down to the viewing level. She was kind and patient with everybody in the group. Now for the attractions...the Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds were definitely an AMAZING experience. On the Maid of the Mist, you get close to Horshoe Falls and just feel the loud roar and energy of the falls. Absolutely stunning! Went on the hurricane deck at Cave of the Winds and got a hydrotherapy massage underneath Bridal Veil Falls. The water was intense and so powerful. A magnificent experience. We had lunch at Maple Leaf Place. Food was ok. Couldn't really eat from the food court since I have IBS so I don't have much to say about the food. The steak poutine was recommended and I was told that it was good. ‍ I didn't skip out on the maple syrup and fudge tasting though. Yum! Delicious. Had no clue there were 3 different types of maple syrup and I found that I like the dark amber syrup the best. Bought some chocolate covered blueberries and jujubes. My husband loved them...me not so much. I prefer my chocolate with no fruit, but I did enjoy their tasty orange dreamsicle fudge. Because there was a big tour bus that arrived at Maple Leaf Place just a few minutes we got there, our time at the food court took too long since the lines were long and everybody in my family were hungry. This meant that it cut our time for souvenir shopping. I'm sure my hubby was happy about that. After lunch, we went to Skylon Tower and went to the observation deck. We got a bird's eye view of not just the Horseshoe, American and Bridal Veil Falls but all of the town of Niagara Falls. Beautiful! Thank you Over The Falls Tour and Jessica! My family and I had a blast!

Here's my take on Over the…read moreFalls Tours: Good: -Picks you up and drops you off at your hotel, so that's a lot more convenient than having to get to a meeting point. -I wanted to do Cave of the Winds and Skylon Tower, and they were on the list of spots they do, so it was convenient, especially with having to cross the border for Cave the Winds. -David, our guide, was personable and pleasant Bad: -The 20% tip sign. Not so much so for the sign itself, but for the fact that, as a tourist, I didn't have any cash on me. They give you a card at the end to give the guide/company feedback; they could at least give you the option to send the guide payment through electronic means as well. -The hour-long lunch stop. I could do without the lunch stop. Again, some people probably really wanted it, but for me, I would've rather hit more up. -The guide basically just took us to the stops and said meet me back here at X. They say on the site that guides love taking pictures for you, well that's kind of hard to do, if you're way back up at the van. Not that I wanted my picture taken at any time, and if I did I could've asked someone in the group to, but it just seemed odd for him to stay back. Especially if somebody in the group got injured or something. -We didn't seem to do much. Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, lunch, the actual power station, whirlpool, floral clock, Table Rock, and Skylon Tower. I had done pretty much everything else, so I don't know what more they could've done. But maybe they could've done 1-2 more things if they shortened the lunch break. I got a couple of discounts when I signed up, but ultimately, I don't think it was worth it. I don't regret it, but if I could do it over, I would've just crossed the border myself to do Cave of the Winds and Maid of the Mist, and done Skylon Tower on my own.

On the top floor, you're presented with exhibits highlighting how energy is used to power the area and how the falls contribute to that flow of electricity. There were some fun moments of learning that I'd say were suited for kids 10 years and up. The real gem is the underground walking path that takes you right to the falls for a truly unique feel. We spent a good amount of time taking in the sites and seeing how massive the falls were compared to our small bodies. Be prepared for a little bit of moisture and splash back from the waves. While admission may seem steep at first at $35, it really was worth it to get such a wonderful view of the falls. I'd highly recommend this to anyone visiting Niagara Falls and wanting to commit to one of the major attractions for great views.

The tunnel also offers a little bit of a cool down as it's a consistent 60 degrees, so if you've been exploring Niagara during the day, it offers a little bit of a respite and cool down. It's also about a 5-minute walk, so prepare for that before you can get to the deck. It's another one of the spots where you really just get misted, and the poncho is sufficient. It's one of those things where something so simple can bring so much happiness. It's just a dimly lit old power station and a tunnel leading to an observation deck. There are comparable observation decks that are free, but walking the tunnel and hearing and seeing water leaking in, and after walking, coming to the opening and seeing the deck, it's just a fun time.
