Not just "hyped", dishoom deserves the recognition! SERVICE Amazing service, easy to make reservations online, and easy to check in and get seated once your entire party has arrived. INSIDE Spacious, clean, and plenty of seating both upstairs and down. MENU For larger parties, they recommend their prefix menu which includes a various sampling of lots of delicious items. FOOD 10/10 I haven't eaten Indian food much, but was thoroughly impressed. From my mango lassi which was perfectly sweetened and tart to buttered buns, fried okra, black Dahl, garlic naan, and lamb skewers, everything was delicious. I esp loved the lamb skewers! We ordered a side of garlic naan with cheese which is basically a quesadilla and it was super cheesy and delicious as well. OVERALL Would def recommend Dishoom when visiting London. It'll definitely be a hit in your books!
This was a difficult restaurant to rate... If you like good spicy food, I think it deserves at least four stars. But I would give the service one star. They told us it would be an approximately 30 minute wait for outdoor seating, and so we sat at the bar. When they finally came for us about 40 minutes later, they said they did not have a seat outside and it might be much longer. When we asked how much longer, she said she had to go check. And then she said it was a miracle, but an outdoor table opened up. It must've been a big miracle, cause there was at least another table outside open. My sister and I placed our orders, and the waiter said we had ordered a very small amount of food, and that we really should consider ordering more. She made specific suggestions on what we should add to our order. Since my sister and I had had a fairly substantial lunch and only wanted a lighter dinner, we thought we were good. And we told her that. But she still pushed harder about ordering more food. I really felt like they were trying to upsell us. But we left it as it was. The food came out... we had a starter of fried okra. It was marvelous! My sister had ordered chicken tikka masala, and I had the lamb chops. The lamb chops were incredibly tender, but I did not expect to find them as spicy as they were. However, I like spicy food so they were good. My sister is not a big fan of spicy food, and as she took a bite of her chicken, she almost spat it out. She cried out spicy spicy, and I knew we were in trouble. We flagged down our waiter and ordered some raita. Our waiter never came back to check on us. When she picked up the dishes at the end, she asked my sister if she did not like the chicken, and my sister told her it was too spicy. The waiter told her next time she should order something different. I was just not very happy with how we were treated there.
We came here on a Friday night after looking at yelp reviews. It was close to our hotel and there was a little bit of a wait. So we sat at the bar. My dining companion ordered a margarita that came straight up with a smoky paprika, sort of rim. I ordered the Mojito. They make their own Mojito mix and it was exceptional. Just a little hint of mint, but the excellent drink. Our bartender did not steer us wrong. We sat outside and ordered the okra appetizer, tikka masala, lamb chops and naan. Our wait staff said we were ordering a very small amount of food. I thought it should be enough, as we had a large lunch. She was kind of insistent, but maybe she was just trying to be helpful. The fried okra was amazing. It was like french fries but with okra. There's just a hint of spice very very crunchy and delicious. The rest of our meal came. I really should have asked about the spice level, but I did not. The menu didn't say my dish was spicy, but it was far too spicy for me. Since our wait staff did not come back to check on us there was not much I could do. However, I did flagged down another waiter and asked for some raita. This helped but I don't like the burn so I was pretty much done eating at that point. My sister's lamb chops were very tasty but overcooked for my preference. But we weren't asked how she wanted her lamb chops so there you go. I bet this is a phenomenal restaurant if you like a high level of heat. And maybe on a night when they weren't so busy and the wait staff stretched so thin. I will say I thought the cocktails were exceptional. And our bartender was great. I would really give it a 2.5 but there are no half star so I'm rounding up
Came by for breakfast the other day and it was a decent experience. Dishoom Shoreditch is conveniently located near a bus stop. Dining is available both indoors or outdoors in the covered seating area. Service was attentive by the staff. Started off with the chai and it was decent. I think their chai used to be more fragrant. Moved on to the wrestler's naan and it was gigantic featuring freshly baked naan cream cheese, ketchup, eggs, streaky bacon, along with sausages. The wrap was a touch hard to eat too! The restaurant was 20% full during a weekday breakfast. The restaurant was offering some type of loyalty card at checkout. Paying is done via QR code and credit card...which leads me to ask the question...what is the 12.5% service charge for then?!?
Dishoom absolutely delivers on flavor. Every dish we tried had depth, heat, and that layered spice that lingers in the best way. The prawns were good, perfectly cooked with bold, punchy seasoning. My biggest recommendation: go big with your ordering. This isn't the kind of place where you stick to one or two plates. The magic really happens when you try a wide variety and share everything around the table. It's much better suited for larger groups than a small, quiet dinner for two. Service was solid, attentive without hovering, and the overall vibe is lively, energetic, and fun. It feels like a place meant for conversation and passing plates back and forth. Only minor knock: oddly enough, the toilets weren't as clean or as vibey as the rest of the restaurant, which felt a little off-brand given how polished everything else is. That said, 100% worth the visit. Go hungry, bring friends, and order more than you think you need.

Dishoom is always a go-to while in London. Everything is so flavorful, so fresh and so delicious. The restaurant has such a great energy and is always lively. The staff is friendly and attentive. I do recommend a reservation as I have never seen it not busy. This restaurant is also a great option if you have vegetarian/vegan folks in your group as the menu has something for everyone. My personal go-tos - chai tea, house black daal, and the chicken ruby. I highly recommend Dishoom if you are in London!
Came on a Friday night without a reservation, and only had to wait 20 min for a table for two. Loved the large NA drink menu. The matcha sour was great. Food was good. Menu was really large, which was nice, and the server was helpful in navigating it. Would recommend.
Dishoom had been on our list for weeks leading up to our recent trip. We were able to grab the last walk in table available just before 6pm. The food was mouth watering and oh, so delicious. The chicken ruby was the star of the show, though it did not have much chicken. I would suggest adding more chicken. They recommend that you order 3-4 things and split them amongst 2 people and that is what we did. The interior was very nice and the vibes were high. It was very crowded! We would go back tomorrow if we could! Looking forward to when it expands to the US.
I've really been looking forward to finally being able to give Dishoom a try! I walked-in around 6:30 on a Monday and was quoted around a 20 min wait time (solo dining this time) -- there's a nice bar area for customers to wait and order some drinks/snacks. Ultimately I managed to get seated just around the estimated 20 min :) Per my server's recommendation, I ordered the chicken ruby with garlic naan, and it was definitely a great choice. I loved the depth of the curry flavour, a wonderful balance of umami, creaminess and the (just-right level of) spicy-ness. The meat was so tender and juicy, and very well-infused with the rich curry flavour. The garlic naan, light and fluffy, was a lovely complement to the heavier flavours of the curry (but I wish it had more of a garlicky taste). I also ordered a mango and fennel lassi to drink, which was yummy. The mango flavour was crisp and fresh, and I liked that it wasn't too sweet nor was the texture too thick. I did not taste much of the fennel though. Portion sizes were not bad -- I think it's definitely a higher-end restaurant and the prices reflect that. I'm really looking forward to my next visit already to try some other fantastic dish off their fairly-extensive menu.
Came to Dishoom in Shoreditch with no reservation and expected a long wait, but it wasn't too bad. We hung out at the bar and the bartender recommended their special drink, which ended up being amazing. I ordered the murgh malai and the chicken ruby and both were so flavorful and comforting. The garlic naan was okay but it didn't have much of a garlic taste, so that was the only thing I wasn't obsessed with. Overall the experience was great. The vibe is lively but still cozy, and the service was friendly and attentive even with the crowd. I would definitely come back.
Had reservations for lunch at this place. Have seen the long lines at the other locations. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Sat downstairs. Was a little noisy and loud here so it was hard to hear our waitresses response and recommendations. We had the chicken biryani, the chef special - Prawn Pathia, the moan monkfish curry and the vegetarian samosas. Also ordered some naan. The sauce on the Prawn Pathia was so good. The prawns were well marinated and tasted great. The sauce had a spice to it and as well as some tang - tasted like chutney. We needed the extra naan for this and the curry. Fish curry was delicious- the first couple of spoons you could taste the tanginess of the curry but the coconut milk rendered a nice sweet ending. The vegetable samosas came with some chutneys/sayces. Our favorite was the coriander and mint: so refreshing. Definitely coming back next time I'm in London.
Amazing Indian restaurant on the pricer side but worth it. You can't make reservations but you can wait in line. They give you complimentary drinks while you wait and the line moves fast. They then let you get a drink in the bar area while you wait. The atmosphere is super cool and fun. The service from the waiter to the hostess was fantastic. Very attentive and knowledgeable. They have multiple locations as well. Def worth a stop!

It's good, not great indian food. The ruby chicken curry is their best dish (basically butter chicken, slightly spicier). This is a good place to take a tourist (especially with their bottomless house chai), but it feels silly to come here often for good indian food when brick lane is right there. People love the black daal & lamb chops, but I don't get it. Neither were special. The veranda is very beautiful to sit in though! read more

Went on a Friday afternoon for lunch as a walk-in and waited about 25-30mins for a table. Ordered the house black daal, chicken berry biriyani, chicken ruby & roomali roti which i think was perfect for 2 starving foodies. House black daal-5/5 Was a little confused why this was so revered but i definutely get it now. SUPER creamy & flavorful- although this is a poor comparison it gave cheesy chilli vibes. Absolutely delicious especially with some bread. I feel like on its own its so rich its hard to eat on its own as a side. Chicken biriyani 2.5/5 By no means bad but definitely the weakest of the dishes. It was a good base to have with the daal & chicken ruby sauce because on its own it felt bland & dry. Again nothing wrong but ive definitely had a lot beyger biriyani. Chicken ruby 4/5 People compare it to a chicken tikka masala and i guess it is similar in the most broadest sense- but flavor-wise the ruby i think is far more interesting. Not as creamy and tasted almost fruity? Not spicy heat-wise but definitely spiced. Chicken itself was also super tender Roomali Roti 2/5 Honestly I think this is my fault for not knowing what to expect more than anything. I was expecting something slightly cripsy like a dosa or flakey like a roti canai but it was closer to a thin flour tortilla so it just felt to out of place to me. I also only had with the daal but its so thin it just didn't hold up to densely flavored daal. Definitely not bad but it made me regret not getting the garlic naan :c Overall a great meal to start my trip. Would definitely recommend getting the house daal if you go. And considering there are so many locations throughout london definitely think its worth a stop by if you get a chance. read more
I've been in London now for four days and this was by far my favorite meal. I didn't catch my server's name (the lady with the snake tattoo on her arm ) but she was great. She gave me great recommendations and patiently guided me through the menu. I don't go out for Indian food very often and many of the items on their menu were different than what I've seen at Indian restaurants in California. The chicken ruby was sooooo good! After 16 years, I made my return to London. This time around, I finally was of age! We had a nice cousins dinner here at the Shoreditch location. Reservations were magically tough even a month out, but we squeezed one for 6pm on a Wednesday evening. Having 7 people certainly helped. Now coming here, the temptation is ordering food you know. The key though is ordering what you don't. As in, try what you haven't tried before, especially if you're like me and coming from the US. What we ended up doing is splitting a lot of smaller items amongst our group. These items included the following (along with my thoughts): a) Chili Cheese Toast: This was one of my favorites. Damn good. b) Okra Fries: These are of the thicker variety. Not bad, but not my favorite. I prefer the thinner variety of these that you can find at some restaurants. c) Gunpowder Potatoes: really good too. Haven't seen this in the US, based on my experience. d) Black Daal: The Dishoom Staple. I think you have to get this regardless of whatever you eat; vegetarian or non-vegetarian e) Paneer Roll: This Kati Roll isn't my favorite (Kati Roll Company still wins!), but for what you're paying for you're actually getting a decently size kati roll. It's not bad though. We also ordered several cocktails. I generally don't drink cocktails when eating Indian food, but the ambiance of the restaurant simply required it. I got the Colaba Colada. Don't really order Pina Coladas at all, but the waiter recommended it. Solid choice. With that said, London is known for its Indian cuisine. Truthfully, you can find good choices in the countryside too. Is this the best? Maybe not. But the ambiance makes this place special. read more
Everyone said that when we were in London we had to go to Dishoom, so obviously we went to Dishoom. But only one person told me about breakfast!! Game changer. Loved the naan roll, and the keema per eedi was also delicious. read more
Can someone please box up this food, atmosphere, vibe, chai, general overall feeling and just send it to me here? Wow I was blown away and loved eating these leftovers for days. If there is a line, WAIT, it's worth it, plus they serve drinks to you while you wait in line! As part of the waiting in line you eventually end up in the bar where you can order small plates and drinks before you get seated. This was potentially my favorite part. By the time we made it to our table I had eaten so many small plates I ended up taking my food home. But that was worth it too. read more

If you enjoy Indian food, undoubtedly someone will tell you about Dishoom. 3 completely separate sources recommend this place as my family came to visit London. This is a great restaurant blending of Iranian and Indian recipes with really good results. The feel of the place is very trendy and had old world Indian charm. Starters have mainstays like Chat and Chicken Tika. Main course have a blend of Vegi and non-veg options that will give you amazing flavors. Everything pops in your mouth including the garlic naan. Items alone are good but when eaten together will blend harmoniously. We had some chat yogurt with the chicken and Garlic naan that made every flavor enhanced. But the menu is half about food and half about the cocktails. While great tastes, I was not wholly impressed here. They make colorful and details mixing of a variety of alcohols, but they cocktails don't make a high grade. The service was great as the staff made sure we happy through out our meal. My recommendation is you get there early, as they are always having a 30-45 min wait even with such a large restaurant. read more
Guaranteed great food and excellent vibes! I had dinner with family at Dishoom and absolutely everything we ordered was a hit. Some of the highlights off the menu in my opinion were: * the lamb samosas; * murgh mali (chicken thighs); * gunpowder potatoes; and * spicy lamb chops! I would definitely recommend making a reservation! We did a walk-in and ended up waiting about an hour before a table became available. We sat by the bar to get drinks while waiting, and that too ended up taking 45+ minutes before we finally got our drinks served. It was a busy Friday night - so, keep that in mind! A reservation will definitely save you from a lot of time waiting. read more
I mean where do I begin. In May it dawned on me booking a trip to London in the middle of summer would probably cause us to stand in a few too many lines to determine our choice of meal for each day seemed too ambitious so I wanted to wing it and then I changed my mind and decided to look up a few places and settled on a recommendation for Dishoom. We resided in the Kings Cross area and on our first night in London I hailed an Uber by app of course to the Dishoom and it was after 6pm so I figured early enough for a quick meal and when we got there the line was so long we decided to switch to the Brassiere down the way, and I was captivated by the length of the line and thought to myself this food has to be great we just picked the wrong time to get in line and so after dinner on the Uber ride back to our Hotel the driver said you have to go to the other neighborhoods to get in and so we took our trip to see ST. Paul's Cathedral and the Towers of London skipped the crown jewels tour and hopped in a Black Cab to Shoreditch Dishoom. Arrived and we were overtaken by the amazingly unique decor, from the signage at the door to the different rooms for meals almost set up like someone had visited places all over the world and the was just grabbing favorite items to use later. We got seated in the back and immediately started ordering items from the appetizer menu Lamb Samosa and garlic Naan and drinks were delivered first and we at those seconds we placed orders for our main dish and settled on the Chefs Special with prawns and added some more garlic Naan and Chilli corn on the cobs. We ordered more food lamb chops and ohhh yessss hey were cooked to perfection. Our appetites were on overload at this point but we had to keep up with our orders because why not! We were so full we gave up. So we decided we'd be back again and we were informed by Katie and the Manager to come back in for breakfast so we thought about it the next day but our day started much later and we went with a return trip for lunch. You can't miss if you try to eat everything on the menu. We most certainly did try and will have to book a flight back to London to try the rest of the menu. read more
I'm not sure there's much more to be said about the delicious food, refreshing cocktails and hospitable service... but I have to say there aren't many busy restaurants in London where a single diner is made to feel entirely at home as is the case at Dishoom. Worth the wait, even solo. If they have ripe mango for dessert, make room in your stomach! read more
Dishoom never fails to impress. Authentic Bombay food in an authentic atmosphere. Service is consistent and so are the flavors. Prawns Koliwada, Ruby Chicken, Garlic Naan and mango lassi tonight. Everything fantastic. Love it! read more

The Chicken Berry Brittania Biryani is my favorite and I'll definitely back to try it again and again. I blend it with yogurt and it becomes addictively comforting. The Rose & cardamom lassi was delightfully refreshing and not overly sweet. Beyond that, desserts are not their strongest suite. This summer 2023 they gave below average attempt at an American classic, and the ice cream flavor options were really weird (only cinnamon and chili flavors... why would I want those when my entire meal had so much spice). For this reason, they deserve to get docked 1 star. read more
This restaurant was one of my favorites while visiting London! The food was super flavorful and delicious and there were so many options to choose from! I did not get the chance to take photos of the Chais, but I got the house chai and the chocolate chai which were bottomless. I liked the house chai better but LOVED both! Our server was really nice and gave us incredible recommendations! On top of everything, the patio was very comfortable and we loved the atmosphere at this restaurant. Overall great experience and I highly recommend paying a visit! read more
I've been to Dishoom twice now, this time as a solo diner. The first time I absolutely loved everything I ordered, from the cocktails to each dish. This time I was definitely less wowed even though I tried some new things. The house chaat and vegetable samosas were alright, but the chicken ruby was quite nice. Last time I came I remember really enjoying the cocktails as well as the chili chicken and gunpowder potatoes. read more

#SentimentalSunday The best food we ate in London weren't fish and chips - it was Nando's peri-peri chicken! I've read some members of the Royal Family liked it too and Ted Lasso even made his pitch about it. However, this review was for our stint at Dishoom which was noteworthy in its own right. We wanted to go to their Covent Garden location but the Shoreditch one was closer to where we were at at that time so we decided to go here. Shoreditch High Street was the closest Underground station so that was our destination as we took the Tube from Tower Hill. Chicken Ruby - This was their take on the ever popular Butter Chicken in the US. It was a better version, in fact. The spices in their makhani sauce were outstanding. Masala Prawns - These six pieces of huge prawns looked so ordinary, but don't get fooled by them. The charred edges were my favorite. Spicy Lamb Chops - Marinated overnight with lime juice, spices, ginger, and garlic, these two chops were deserving of two-thumbs up! Grilled medium and garnished with pomegranate, these two generous cuts were executed to perfection. Plus, they were not gamey at all. We had naan and basmati rice with our order. The price point was a bit high for the quantity but not for the quality. We went prior to the dinner rush so we were seated right away. We were impressed that we thought of coming back or visit another Dishoom location to check out more of their food but we ended up doing the double dip at the Borough Market instead. Maybe someday we can make it back to London and try their Prawn Pathia and Chicken Berry Britannia... and those lamb chops again! read more

Dishoom certainly lives up to the hype! The service was so quick and friendly. And I lover how they served everything piping hot. Our waiter was so good about actually going through the menu and explaining things in depth about what was popular and what different items were. We ordered the: Lamb Samosas - so good! And a big fan favorite. It's so crispy but not too much that it's hard to bite through or that it hurts your mouth. The meat was really tender and the different sauces that came with it gave each bite a different experience. Prawn Koliwada - also delicious! They basically use the sauce as a crust on the shrimp and it's so flavorful. It was a lot spicier than we thought it would be though, so make sure you have a drink ready! Chicken Ruby - a perfect balance of tomatoey and creamy! This dish had a sweetness to it and wasn't really that spicy, but the spice did build. Garlic naan - you really can't go wrong with garlic naan! But it only comes with two pieces so we ended up ordering rice too. read more

Awesome amazing ambience. The crew was so lovely and it was cool how they put you at the bar to get small plates and drinks when there's a long wait before you get a table. The food was super delicious! I wouldn't say it was mind blowing, but I will definitely, 100%%%, be coming back the next time I'm in town to try some new things. read more
Had the best experience here. The food is amazing, flavorful and worth the prices. The staff was so nice. They really outdid themselves with the birthday celebration. They gave my dad a handwritten note and a gift and coupons to come back for breakfast, and that we did! Very cute inside. Would recommend making a reservation. As we left for dinner on a Tuesday night, the line was out the door. Sorry for the bad photos, I only took videos! read more
First time in London and I wanted to try some good Indian food. I didn't get good Indian food, I got Amazing Indian food. I had the chicken ruby, rice, and garlic naan as well as an Old Fashion which had their own unique twist. Just to reiterate, the food was excellent, well portioned, though I could have eaten until it hurt. One tip. Very busy so make sure to get a reservation. If not you will probably not get a seat. Price was reasonable btw and the servers were great. Attentive but not intrusive. Lastly, casual fun atmosphere. You can sit inside or out. May go there again before I leave London. read more
This is the best British Indian food I've gotten to enjoy. It's a local and tourist favorite spot to visit! It fits the bill for all occasions. Highly recommend getting the house special (Black Daal) and house appetizer. We also ordered garlic naan and rice as sides. Overall, 10/10 recommend! read more
I read a review from five years ago and it seems the place is much the same. Certainly didn't live up to the hype with all the reviews and 45 minute wait. This is my first time to London and have heard great things about the Indian food here and if I didn't mind the wait... this place was well worth it. Sadly it isn't. I arrived early to get on the list and they handed me a glass of sherry. It was odd because someone outside takes your name and then directs you inside to get a pager. I went inside and it was the same procedure all over again; even though the person outside took my name, the hostess seemed oblivious and asked for my name and how many in party again. I was given a pager and told I could wait in the bar area and she pointed to that area. No sooner did I place one step into the bar area when someone with a headset grabbed my arm and told me "no no no" and pointed to a separate area next to the bar where I could wait. Everyone seemed to be herded into this area with very limited counter space and even fewer stools. I managed to find space at a shared counter and struck up a nice conversation with some people at the counter. They serve drinks and appetizers in this area but getting someone take your order is a challenge. Oddly, a server took the order of every at the counter where I was standing but skipped me. After she came back and dropped off their drinks and appetizers, she again, walked away without even acknowledging my presence. I walked over and asked if I could place and order and in the most snide tone possible, she said she would get to me and told me to go back to the counter. She never did come back but ultimately someone did come. For starters we I had an old fashioned and we shared the Chili Chicken. The old fashioned was good but instead of an orange peel, it was served with some sort of leaf. Not sure what the leaf was for. An old fashion is a very traditional drink and I don't know why you would mix it up with anything else. The Chili Chicken was nice but it came by itself. It would have been nice with some pita chips or something to put it on. But by itself, I don't recommend. We waited the 45 minutes for our table and right after being seated, they seemed to expect us to place our order right away. We took a few minutes to check the menu and they seem to come by every 30 seconds asking to take our order. Ultimately, we felt pressured to order and went with the Chicken Tikka and Masala Prawns, Garlic Naan and Basmati Rice. They were pretty quick about preparing the food; the shrimp came on a cold plate. Although they are charred, when we got them they were quite cold and a bit chewy. The Chicken Tikka was okay, but a little dry and not much flavor. The Garlic Naan was more like plain naan. The rice was fresh but nothing special. I was visiting London to see a friend and we were trying to enjoy a good conversation. But it was painfully clear they want to turn over tables as quickly as possible. I did note there is an incredible line that never seems to get smaller, but why should we cut out dining experience short? We were asked so many times if we were finished even though it was clear we had not finished our meals. Finally, someone different came over, interrupted our conversation and even put her hands on our plates asking if we were finished. Again, it was clear they were going to be relentless and not let us enjoy the rest of our evening. So, we let them clear our table and then they asked us if we wanted dessert. I had the cinnamon ice cream which was probably the best part of the evening. Overall, it was simply average, but mostly disappointing given all I have heard about the great Indian food in London. I'm sure there are some good Indian restaurants but this isn't one of them. read more
I have read that this is one of the most popular restaurants in London. It deserves this title. I had a Jain dish of tofu and bell peppers it was very good. Other people had the "TILA-FOI'S VERY BEST MASALA FISH dish". They said it was very good. Definitely a place to put of your list if going to London. read more

i visited this restaurant on a wednesday evening around 5:45pm, and although there was a wait of about an hour for our party of two, the experience was worth it. once inside, we were directed to the bar area where we could order light appetizers and drinks while waiting. now, let's dive into the food ratings: - gunpowder potatoes (3.5/5): while this dish was decent, it didn't quite meet my expectations. the accompanying sauce was a bit too sour for my liking, and i was hoping for crispier potatoes. - black daal (3.5/5): personally, i'm not a huge fan of beans, but if you enjoy them, this dish is well-prepared. it might not be my personal favorite, but it's still flavorful and well-executed. - chicken ruby (5/5): this dish reminded me a lot of chicken tikka masala, but with a spicier kick. although the portion size was a bit smaller compared to the price, the flavors were outstanding. the combination of spices created a complex and extremely delicious experience. in fact, it's one of the best indian dishes i've ever had. read more

My extent of Indian cuisine goes only so far as the many offerings here in LA. Most have been good, and others, not so much. Having said that, this restaurant blows away anything Indian I've ever had. I can only imagine a restaurant somewhere in Mumbai would be better. Tip: this place is extremely popular, so if you don't want to wait in the forever line that winds around the block, then make a reservation. We made one a month and a half in advance, and this Tuesday evening was the only available time during our stay in London. That's how well-liked this place is. Restaurant is large, with two floors, and they've maximized every single inch of it. So be prepared to squeeze in and get comfortable with strangers. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful as she was patient enough to walk us through their large menu. Ordered the following: - Prawn Koliwada - 3/5. Prawns were smallish, lightly coated with some nice heat. Flavor seemed like one note for me, though. My least favorite dish of the evening. - Sheekh Kabab - 4/5. Moist, flavorful, with a bit of heat. - Prawn Masala - 5/5. Perfectly cooked. You can't cook these any better. Right off the grill, a bit tart, one-bite goodness. - Chicken Ruby - 5/5. Best dish of the evening. Very tender white chunks of chicken, swimming in a silky textured sauce. - Chocolate Pudding - 5/5. Wow. Decadent, gooey in the middle, served with vanilla ice cream. If you love chocolate, you'll love this. Also got some side orders of garlic Naan and basmati rice, which seemed pretty standard to me. The portions aren't American large. Each dish is just enough to share between two people. Didn't feel too stuffed like I've felt in other Indian restaurants. And prices are pretty reasonable for the quality of food you're getting. I do have some minor complaints, and they have nothing to do with the food. It seemed too dark in our area. Not sure how it is in other parts of the restaurant, but I could barely read the menu where we sat. Also, the directional signage is lacking here. Anyway, if you want great Indian food, go here. Just make sure you have reservations, otherwise be prepared to wait. read more
On a recent trip to Europe, went to Dishoom Shoreditch for an early weekday dinner. I did not have a reservation but our party of two did get seated immediately -hard to find and poor signage -knowledgeable and friendly waiter -on my night, noted all the patrons were american -they are ESG friendly. Don't offer paper bills and have to pay via app -customary 12.5% tip added (like at most London restaurants) -was told the recommended items were: samosas (Lamb or veggie), chicken tikka, lamb chops. house black daal, chicken ruby, prawn pathia, bowl of greens -shareable dishes -note nothing came with naan or rice -everything was flavorful and tasty; well presented, my favorite was the house black daal - you can really taste the flavors from all the slow long cooking Don't hesitate in going to this Dishoom especially if you are an Indian food novice. read more

The Dishoom menu is quite extensive, so if you can get a group going. Must get the DISHOOM CHICKEN TIKKA, ROOMALI ROTI, and the LAMB RAAN which is gigantic. ENJOY! PS: No reservations after 5:30 PM.... so just take that last reservation! read more

Wow. I don't think I can say more. While the wait is long - PERSEVERE! You don't find many lines with chair tea and seating! The food makes it worth the wait. I left stuffed to the brim after ordering the chicken ruby and black lentils. Both were crazy good! I swore I'd only eat a bit and polished them both. It's a gorgeous restaurant and the service is amazing. My waiter even came back to give me a voucher for free brunch. read more

Best Indian food I've ever had. We have been twice now and my ultimate favorite is the chicken ruby. Also had a delicious lemon, ginger and mint tea. The restaurant is huge but by 6:30 there was a long line out front to get a table, so try to make a reservation. Wait staff are fast and very good at giving recommendations (the chicken ruby was a recommendation). Wish I could go back again now after I've digested everything. read more
