This used to be a Taiwanese restaurant and that is now gone. It is a fusion Vietnamese restaurant that has some pretty interesting options on the menu. I got the Pandan Coconut milk to start and B got the 33 acre beer. The pandan coconut milk was not bad but I think I should have ordered a Thai milk tea or something else instead. I heard their Thai milktea and Vietnamese coffee is really good. For entree I got the lemongrass chicken vermicelli and that was very delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly. It was juicy and flavorful. B got the Pho Bo. He said it was delicious. I tried some of his soup and OMG that soup was really good. Service was good. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. I would definitely go back. I think next time I come back I would order a bunch of appetizers or share plate instead or something that is unique. read more

Make sure to try their jar of spicy garlic chili oil. - 2x Lunch combos ($28.00) - bo tai chanh, mussel motoyaki, bun rieu and lemongrass chicken vermicelli with spring roll. This is has always been one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants because of their creative cocktails that ALWAYS taste great and their soft shell crab. I haven't been in a while till recently and was so sad to see the soft shell crab was removed from the menu. There was an add on option to the uni pasta but unfortunately they were out that day. Either way, you can go wrong with creamy uni noodles. It was packed with flavor and coated generously with the delcious creamy sauce. Since we could get soft shell crab we decided to try umami bombs. Those were soooo so good, it looks and sounds so simple but the tomato's and sauce are incredible and irreplicable. The drinks were ofc a hit. The milk tea drink and the Vietnamese coffee cocktail were 10/10, the coffee drink had an underlying chocolate flavor which we loved!! Absolutely fantastic dining experience. From start to finish the staff were super attentive. We came for Dineout and it was worth every penny. Every item was great but the real showstopper is the Luc Luc Lamb Chops. Without exaggeration, it is one of if not the best lamb chops I've ever had. Definitely looking forward to coming back! This place was quite a treat for the taste buds. Some very unique offerings. We ordered: Accordion Cucumber Salad Umami Bombs Creamchi Udon Bun Bo Hue Hubby has had better Bun Bo Hue but everything else was fantastic. I loved the Accordion shape of the Cucumber. Sooo fun to see it dangling, and it was a very refreshing dish. It's a bit on the spicy side so only order it if you're someone who can tolerate a bit of spice. Especially loved the Umami Bombs! They were truly "Bomb"! The flavor of the sauce combined with that burst of juice from the tomato...wow! Such a delight to the senses. The tobiko in my Creamchi wasn't visible when the dish was first placed in front of me. After stirring the noodles a bit though, I found plenty of tobiko in my dish and it gave the dish a really nice texture. Portions were good. My taste buds were happy and I was full without being excessively full. Tummy was in a happy place! Oh, the table came had a hook built into the side of it so that I could hand my purse on it. Excellent food and service. District 11 gives a twist on traditional Vietnamese dishes. All the portions are relatively small so when dining in a group I recommend everyone try a little bit of everything. Plenty of seating available, wasn't too busy when we came in on a weekday for dinner. Mussels, truffle fries and banh xeo fritters were good. Truffle wontons were also a hit! read more

Rated the following: Spicy wontons = 3.5 A hint of heat with toppings to add different textures. Not overwhelming in flavour but could taste the shiso leaves. Served close to room temperature. Cucumber salad = 3.5 refreshing and mildly savoury. Mussel Motoyaki = 5 Perfectly cooked mussels. Creamy and tasty, well balanced flavours. Dynamite Taco = 3.5 A couple of Shrimp tempura over an imitation crab salad inside a charred pita like bread. Would have been better if it was encased in something crispier, not tough and burnt tasting. Was filling though. Abura Crispy Rice = 4 Nice mix of texture with the imitation crab salad on a fried sticky rice patty. Has a hint of heat from the jalapeno. Cremchi Udon = 5 Lots of subtle flavours shined through this creamy dish! Could taste the slight tang from the kimchi. Sadly, no rice was provided (menu stated it is included) to finish off the leftover sauce. Our table mates also enjoyed their lemongrass chicken and Pho Bo. The bowl of Pho was definitely smaller than most other Pho restaurants, and yet , it was a tad pricier. Perfect for dinner, late snacks, or simply for drinks as they are conveniently open until late (2am on Fridays and Saturdays, 1am Tues to Thurs, and 12am on Sundays). Not exactly sure which Asian fusions, but seems like mostly Vietnamese, Japanese, with a bit of Korean. Aburi crispy rice - quite appetizing with the chili mayo and ponzu glaze complemented by crispy rice. I definitely recommend this. Bun Bo Hue - a Vietnamese classic, but if you can't eat spicy then this is *not* for you. I had asked for mild spicy but even then was a bit too much. Creamchi udon - I'm so glad we got this as it helped off set some of the spiciness from the bun bo hue. It's also super delicious and creamy, couldn't taste the kimchi aspect though. Supposed to come with a bowl of rice to eat with the leftover sauce but we didn't get it, so make sure to ask for it. Main reason for minus 1 star is because the order of the dishes that came was rather confusing. Our entrees came before our appetizer which I thought was very weird. However, definitely will be back! Have been here on 2 occasions - first time was maybe a year or so ago for happy hour with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our orders. More recently, I went with family including a toddler for an early dinner. Immediate seating, not busy at all and staff were friendly to accommodate a stroller to be parked off to the side. I had the Goi Ga Nuong - Broiled Marinated Chicken Salad and thoroughly enjoyed the flavours and the lightness of the meal. Perhaps this is a busier trendy spot at night but we came on a weekend afternoon and it was around 1/3 full. Parking can be challenging but there is some parking around the residential areas. Service was friendly and the ambience was casual trendy. The food is fusion so it had resemblance of Japanese and Vietnamese flavours. One tasted like aburi with crispy rice (was tougher to eat once it cooled down). The bun bo hue was okay, but lacked depth of flavour one would expect in a traditional bun bo hue. The fries were a GENEROUS portion. I have not seen such a big bowl of fries. They were crispy and not overwhelming with the truffle flavour. The also had a nice selection of drinks. The lychee flavoured beer was light and refreshing. It doesn't seem like the happy hour menu prices vary too much from the regular menu but prices are fairly reasonable. read more

Food My gfs and I came here for happy hours! We loved the food. The food was something that we wouldn't make at home. It's always good to cheat and eat fried out out there we shared all the finger food or snacks. We wouldn't feel guilty to eat the whole things by ourselves. Sharing is good in another word! Service The customer service was great. Servers were always attentive and provided what we needed. It was great that we wouldn't get this all the times. Sometimes when a restaurant is busy, we have to look for a server to get what we need. Ambiance Since we had gone for happy hours, it's dark out there. It's nice and warm inside the restaurant. Having a drink and enjoying the food with gfs, we all had a great time. The ambience was just about right that it was not too dark or too bright inside. The restaurant was clean. Customers were sitting near us but we didn't find it was too noisy. Sometimes we go to restaurants that they are extremely noise and loud that we can't really talk or chat with others. I personally hate to raise my voice and talk to others. Here we felt comfortable chatting and feeling comfy and cozy. The only thing is harder to find parking. There is a parking lot right in front of the restaurant but it is shared by a few restaurants. It means we have to find street parking. We wanted to try something new and decided to come here for my wife's birthday. We got here just before 6pm and it wasn't busy yet. Their happy hour is until 7pm. The interior is nice, open and the staff are friendly. There are high tables and regular tables. The stools for the high table are wooden so it isn't that good if you sit there for a while as your butt may be sore after. The regular tables have more comfy chairs. We order a lot for food for 4 people. We got the following: Bo luc lac: it is beef tenderloin, mushrooms and onions and you get a choice of rice or bread. We got rice with it. The beef was so tender, juicy and good flavor. I highly recommend this dish and would get it again in a heartbeat. Creamchi udon: the mussels were large and the sauce was their home made kimchi, cream, shallots, tobiko and other ingredients. It is rich and has a subtle hint of kimchi. Aburi crispy rice: spicy imitation crab salad with chili mayo, deep fried sushi rice, crispy shallots, ponzu glaze, pickled jalapeño and seaweed. I thought the bottom was crab cake but it was the sushi rice. Banh Xeo Ebi Tempura: what can I say, it is prawn tempura. It has truffle seaweed mayo & nuoc cham dipping sauce to dip. Nori truffle fries: A lot of other reviews recommended this. It was good fries and they provide a lot however after eating a 1/4 of it, it loses it's luster. The seaweed mayo dipping sauce also has truffle so it is a lot of 'truffle'. For us, it was a bit too much truffle for one sitting, especially since some other items had truffle.oil too. Bo Kho: beef stew (brisket and belly), carrots, and it comes with rice or bread. We decided to get the bread with this to dip into the stew. The beef was also super tender like the luc lac and the stew wasn't too thick, which was good for dipping the bread. I'm beef guy so I would get this again. Lemongrass clams: the clams were a little chewy (overcooked) and a bit salty for us. We don't eat a lot of salt so that could be the reason why we thought it was salty. Lychee milk tea: It was okay as the lychee flavor had a unique taste when it's mixed with the milk tea. The oat milk has it's own taste and it usually changes the taste of things it blends with such as coffee, tea, etc.. It is a great place to get together with friends or family so you can share different dishes to try and enjoy having some drinks. read more

Came back for more last night!! I saw two new feature dishes and had to come in for some late night with friends. In all honesty, my friends mostly wanted to try some drinks but once they saw the dishes I ordered, everyone had to get in on it. Mussel motoyaki: A great dish for all motoyaki lovers - I do appreciate this one though because when I order a regular oyster motoyaki at a local Japanese restaurant, there's usually too much sauce and not enough oyster. Due to my lighter palate, I usually find it overbearing. However, this dish is perfectly adorned with just the right amount of house made motoyaki sauce. The sauce is light but rich at the same time and has some cheesiness but also zest to balance out the thickness. Of course, this isn't a typical motoyaki as it is also 'fusioned' up with hints of lemon grass. Being someone that normally doesn't enjoy mussels as much, I found this style of mussels highly palatable! Creamchi udon: This udon is your trip to flavour town - with a generous mixture of garlic/shallots, kimchi, cream and herb butter, your tastebuds are sure to be sent to heaven. I loved that this dish actually rang true to the spice. Being someone who is mid weight when it comes to handling spice, it was perfect to just have 3-4 bites and let the glorious flavour and texture soak in. The noodles were chewy, the tobiko gave some popping texture, the kimchi was present but did not overshine the creamy flavour profile and the protein was there - what more is there to ask for? The chef is also very thoughtful to add extra rice as there is definitely extra sauce that you have to clean up haha. Not pictured (I forgot oops...) were the togarashi curly fries which is pretty much as described on the menu. The fries really reminded me of my favourite Arby's curly fries with much better seasoning and a delicious yuzu honey mustard sauce. My friends who ordered the shiso melon, moolong milk tea, and yuzu lemon drop were all pleased with the delicious tasting cocktails and deemed that they were all good for those who want to avoid the taste of the last time they had a bad night out lol. read more

We shared 8 dishes between the 3 of us: umami bombs, banh xeo ebi tempura, peanut lemongrass stir fry, lemongrass chili miso cod, aburi crispy rice, truffle goi ga, yuzu panna cotta, and apple miso pie. I enjoyed every dish but the only one I wouldn't order again was the peanut lemongrass stir fry. It was simple and I could make it at home. Cool concept for a Vietnamese/Asian fusion snack bar. I really like the design of the place, it's modern but has character, and the reception area seems to be paying tribute to the eclectically-decorated look of a lot of old-school Vietnamese cafes. My friend and I came for happy hour. Unlike most happy hours which are at awkward times and feature only the most generic menu items, the happy hour here runs from 5-7 and includes a nice selection of their full offerings. My friend and I each got a Creamchi Udon (most of the menu is shareable appetizers, but this can work as a meal), and I got a Guava Lychee Fruit Beer. We were both fans of the udon - the kimchi was almost creamed into the sauce, which gave it flavour and a little bite but mellowed out some of the kimchi funkiness. I loved the fruit beer. Super refreshing and not very sour like many fruit beers. Service was fine. Our waiter was pretty hands-off, but was polite and patient when we needed more time to look at the menu because we'd gotten distracted catching up. My drink and the food were both pretty quick to come out. Although it's not a huge price difference between happy hour and the regular menu, and the prices are reasonable either way, I would definitely recommend coming during happy hour to save a few dollars and to catch the restaurant at a less busy time (we arrived at 6 and left as HH was ending, and it seemed to be getting a lot busier, while it was pretty quiet when we arrived). read more

The Aburi crispy rice was one of a kind, with a mix of crab salad, deep fried sushi rice, chili mayo and ponzu. It was delicious. District Eleven - it sounds like The Hunger Games, and it may as well be when you're fighting for the last piece. Our first victory was unknowingly coming during their happy hour, which is at 5pm-7pm. (Yes, this is an actual happy hour that you don't have to skip or leave work early for!) I'd recommend making reservations since it was a full house not long after we arrived. Our second victory was nailing it with our dishes and overall portion size. We ordered Truffle Nuoc Mam Wonton ($8.5), Creamchi Udon ($18.5), Aburi Crispy Rice - Sashimi-Grade Salmon ($17.5), Accordion Cucumber Salad ($8), Ao Nori Truffle Fries ($8.5), as well as the Bun Bo Hue ($18) which was not a HH item. Some dishes were distinctly Asian, while others were a fusion of East Meets West: from the earthy truffle flavour and the zesty nuoc cham in the wonton, to the deep-fried sushi rice topped with torched cubes of creamy salmon sashimi. There was no dish that fell flat. My Thai Milk Tea ($6) also soared high - it was on the sweeter side, but hit the spot. Our third and final victory was celebrating my friend's birthday here. The staff very kindly stored our cake in the fridge and topped it off with a candle afterwards - no cakeage fee involved! It was no surprise then seeing another birthday party next to us. Who wouldn't want to celebrate with good friends, great food, and amazing service? So, if someone ever asks you to go to District Eleven, the only acceptable answer is, of course, "I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE." read more

District Eleven looked like a modern fusion Vietnamese restaurant when it first came to my radar, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to try them. I highly recommend the Banh Xeo Ebi Tempura. It was crispy and delicious, albeit a tad pricey. The aburi crispy rice was okay, I would recommend adding the $2 and substitute it with salmon. One thing I didn't get was the amuse bouche they gave us to start the meal off, it was deep fried rice noodle squares with some seasoning on top. Problem was, the noodles were not completely crispy, and felt very oily when you bite into them. It also had no flavour whatsoever. Could probably do without. For our mains we got the lemongrass clams, the beef pho and the Bo Luc Lac. The clams were cooked perfectly, no sand, the soup was a bit salty but still tasty. The beef pho was also good, a hot bowl of noodles with tender beef and crunchy bean sprouts, absolutely will heal your soul. The Bo Luc lac was jam packed with flavour and went so well with the rice. The beef was tender and had a familiar Chinese stir fry "wok qi" for me. Overall we really enjoyed our meal and most of the dishes we ordered had met or exceeded our expectations. Service was quick and solid. The only down side is the location, it's in a strip mall and shared the small parking lot with other businesses, their stalls were ridiculously small and tight. read more

Fun, fresh and full of flavours (FFFF) was my first impression of District 11. This is a Vietnamese fusion tapas style sharing vibe of restaurant. I order a non-alcoholic drink: Basil Fresca. It's really refreshing with a twist, orange bitters. Basil as an ingredient which is obvious. This combination with some brown sugar makes the perfect sweetness. They have a good selection of alcoholic drinks, cocktails which look very delicious. My friend ordered a cocktail: Berry blast. It was very yummy and exotic. My friend and I had the 3 dishes to share: - Goi (House Salad) - The Pho Poutine - Aburi Crispy Rice The Goi house salad is a new item on the menu. The crunchiness comes from the pickled carrot, pickled daikon, cabbage and shallot. I really liked the sweet and acidic dressing. The ingredients danced in my mouth in every bite. My favourite was the Aburi crispy rice. The ingredients are simple: the spicy imitation crab salad and deep fried sushi rice. It's the flavour and the texture burst in your mouth. If you want a bigger bite, cut it in half evenly. If you want to be more elegant, cut it in quarters. I think I can have all 4 pieces by myself and still have room for other dishes. =D The Pho poutine is also a new item on the menu. They are lime fries with pho bo gravy and cheese curbs served in a hot iron container. The fried basil leaves, cilantro, green onion and onion add another layer of freshness to the dish. If you like crispy fries like I do, this texture is more on the soft side. I would really like to try their Togarashi curly fries next time. From a distance on another table, they looked crispy to me. The servers were very friendly, and they would explain any item on the menu to you patiently. Their takeout/leftover container is a paper bowl with a clear plastic lid. Parking in the front is free, but it's almost always full during prime time. Street pay parking wasn't too bad. because this was on my list to try and a was an awesome companion! viet fusion place with my absolute FAV decor/colour combo inside since the restaurant opens at 5pm - happy hour is til 7pm FYI. there were complimentary fried vermicelli crackers as starters. from the hh menu, we started off with our fav g&t - beefeater gin is their house in case anyone wants to know. i would recommend a double for those who like gin (aka the single is more tonic than gin - for me anyways). we also had the moolong milk tea (for a - also not rly MILK milk, oat milk is used) and shiso melon (for yours truly). i had a sip of the moolong - it is a lighter spiked version of the vita's chrysanthemum tea - iykyk. whereas my drink was DEF boozy (there were 3 diff types of spirits) but i found the melon flavour to be too much (that and i thought it was supposed to be cantaloupe flavour and ended up being honeydew ). i didn't get any of the shiso flavour but a def tasted it when she had a tester of my drink. for hh food, we had the togarashi curly fries, the banh xeo ebi tempura and chicken tacos. the curly fries were drizzled with honey mustard that provided a nice contrast to their house made spice; plus they were curly fries! the ebi tempura had a light batter, the sauce drizzled on top was to perfection so you don't rly need the fish sauce that came with the dish. the chicken tacos had juicy fried chicken with pickled vegetables that helped cut the greasiness. we had also ordered the lemongrass chilli clams and the miso cod. the clams were rather bland in taste but the fish sauce comes in to save the day for this dish. the chillies in the broth does a little tiny bit of kick. the miso cod was def a highlight - the skin was seared to perfection, the cod was succulent and juicy, and the crispy rice added more crunch to the dish. i loved how you can make your own little hand roll with the cod, crispy rice, chilli sauce drizzle and pickled vegetables. there were other dishes that tweaked my eye frm other tables - time to plan for another visit! read more

A nice little place to go and try their interesting takes on vietnamese/fusion dishes! We shared a couple of the dishes - ebi banh xeo tempura and their chicken salad, and then of course ordered both of the desserts they had to offer. The service was good, even as it started to get busy for their Friday night. I'd like to return to try other things on their menu! read more

This place was pretty decent and I really loved the vibe here. It has a fun chill vibe and it seems to be a good place to chill with your friends over drinks. The food here was quite yummy, their creamchi udon was my favourite!! I loved the sauce that it came with, the kimchi flavour complimented the cream sauce super well and I loved the tobiko. The nori truffle fries were also one of my faves, the fries were nice and crispy. It also had great flavour and the portion was nice. The bun Bo hue was alright for me, I feel like it didn't really taste authentic but it was still a nice bowl of noodles. The umami bombs had good flavour, but it was a bit greasy for me. I think the rice soaks up a lot of the oil when fried. Would probably only eat one. read more

Really nice interior and nice atmosphere for a friendly gathering. I wasn't aware there was a parking lot available, but next time I will know :). They have some interesting appetizers but can replace tempura and fries offerings with something more enticing. The food was not bad, I figured getting stuff to share would be better. But I still had an udon to my self. It was very saucy and I hoped it would have included a serving of rice to go with the remaining sauce . Decent vegan pho, but pretty middle-of-the-road for Vancouver's huge selection of vegan pho offerings. I did a take-out order one night of a salad and noodle soup, and my order was ready for pick-up exactly when I was told. I got the cucumber beet salad ($8 plus tax) and their vegan pho chay ($14 plus tax). -The salad was mostly cucumbers, cut thinly and served in spirals, with minimal beets, a few pea shoots, and a very salty, vinegary sauce. I wasn't too enthused about this. It's a large portion of mostly cucumbers with a somewhat overbearing dressing. This didn't do much for me. 2.5/5 -The vegan pho was solid. You get a good portion of thin rice noodles, tofu, gai lan (or yu choy or some other similar Chinese green), baby corn, brown cremini mushrooms, a few thinly sliced carrots, and some mostly raw thin slices of onion. The broth is gently salty and fairly tepid. It has enough depth, but it's fairly bland. The soup wasn't served with any of the usual Vietnamese garnishes (basil, bean sprouts, hot sauce, etc.), so there's no way to enliven this. Overall, good, but unremarkable. 3.5/5 Cool, hip spot, but for vegan pho, it was just solid. read more

I have heard so much about this place for the past year. Finally I came with my best friends for an early dinner before some late night things. We came at a good time, when it was empty and we could kinda get the vibe of the restaurant going. I loved their decor and the vibes of the place, it is not that bad. If I can see this place popping, I am not surprised as it is so much fun! And we came during their "happy hour" time. We ordered a bunch of food and a couple of drinks to start off our tea spilling of a night. We started off with a Moolong Milk Tea and Shiso-Melon, and DAYUM the drinks are pretty on point though. That Moolong Milk Tea was pretty delicious! I was surprised at the price as well. Even if it is not happy hour, I might just down a couple of these a night easily! Then the food came, we ordered Creamchi Udon, Aburi Crispy Rice, Umami Bombs, Banh Xeo Ebi Tempuras, Accordion Cucumber Salad, yes pretty much the whole menu. Creamchi Udon: 6/10 Aburi Crispy Rice: 8/10 Umami Bombs: 5/10 Banh Xeo Ebi Tempura: 7/10 Accordion Cucumber Salad: 8/10 The Umami Bombs were missing more umami flavours, as I recently just came back from LA and their style of umami bombs were just AMAZING, so I could be randomly comparing them there by accident. I love the Aburi Crispy Rice and the Accordion Salad though. Those were the highlights of the happy hour menu. Good place to try. Unique dishes and tasty! Went during happy hour so prices were reasonable. Ambiance is great and service was wonderful! We tried the beef tataki (Bo tai Chanh), aburi crispy rice, truffle nuoc mam wonton and pho Bo (beef noodle soup). My favs were the aburi crispy rice and truffle wonton!!
