Wanted to like this food truck, but sadly it's a no for me. The service was fine - friendly and courteous guys. There wasn't a long wait, but the food was very disappointing. I wasn't starving so I opted for a wrap instead of a platter. I ordered a chicken shawarma wrap (spicy). I went back to my office to eat my lunch, only to end up throwing most of it in the trash. It wasn't spicy, the pita tasted old, the yogurt sauce was overpowering, there was too much lettuce and stuff inside the pita, making it difficult to eat. Oh my falafel!! This food truck is the GOAT!! On a whim tonight I decided to pick up a plate or two to add on to our instant pot chicken at home after grabbing a beer at Saints Row. I went for a lamb salad, falafel platter and sides of falafel, hummus and baklava. The lamb is well seasoned, bite sized and scrumptious. The veggies in the salad are incredibly fresh- so delicious. District Falafel comes to my work for "Food Truck Tuesday" every once in a while. I love falafel, so I'm usually interested in this as a lunch option. I've tried the Falafel Platter as well as the Sweet & Spicy Harissa Falafel Sandwich, which is served in a pita. The Falafel Platter is served with a "salad" and rice as well as pita and falafel. The food is pretty expensive at $8 for the sandwich and $9 for the platter. It beats cafeteria food, but I've been to many other falafel places that are far less expensive and taste better. read more

I tried the food from this truck today and all I can say is....meh. It was okay, and that's all I can think to say about it. I did as requested and texted my order in, yet they still got it wrong. Not off to a good start. The gyro I had was rather boring, no real seasoning in it, and the rice tasted as if it had been cooked days ago- very dry and tasteless, clearly it had been cooked and stored for a while. It tasted just like the steamed rice you get from a Chinese restaurant that you microwave to heat up a few days later. Luckily it only cost me $5. I won't be visiting this truck again if it returns because the diner next door has much better gyros. read more

I got the Lamb Gyro Salad and asked that they subbed Roasted Peppers for the rice which they happily did no extra fees either. Everything was delicious! Now the reason for 4 stars is because 1, They ran out of the Yogurt Dill Sauce. This is a staple when eating Gyro so I'm disappointed. 2, They didn't give me my pita to go with my salad. Yes I ask to substitute the rice but don't assume I didn't want any carbs at all and omit that without asking! Man D.C., your food truck selection is awesome! This meal was probably one of the more complex meals I've had come out of a truck. I ordered the lamb gyro plate that comes with salad and rice. It was more than enough food for $10. Each component had a lot going on. The man preparing my boxed meal really took his time to make sure everything was perfect. The perfectly cooked rice with peas and corn was drizzled with something like olive oil. The salad was placed in the to-go container and then the olives, then the pepper, then the dressing. It was like he composing a symphony. After each step, he would pause to make sure it was to his liking and continue. A little of this, a little of that. And the attention to detail showed. The white sauce on top was also delicious and really made the gyro meat and rice go together. read more

Meh. Maybe they are still getting their act together, but our takeout order wasn't handled well, and the food was definitely lacking. First - they left off the babaganoush we ordered. Next, we asked them NOT to put dressing on the salad - but instead to put it on the side. Unfortunately, they ignored that request, resulting in a wilted, soggy salad. The side of hummous was literally tasteless. I've had LOTS of hummous over the years. This was like wallpaper paste - devoid of any taste. Tzaziki wasn't bad. Their food truck stopped by my complex today, I wasn't sure whether to order or not, because of so many non positive reviews... Glad I didn't let that stop me. Food was delicious! I order 2 items to share , the Chicken platter and the Grilled Lamb platter with rice. Each had their own salad. Chicken Gyro had a spring mix salad with feta and a vinaigrette which was nice and the lamb had Hummus and a small middle eastern veggie salad (small diced cucumbers, tomatoes , etc) with a light vinaigrette. Rice wasn't dry. Each meat had a dill sauce on top and the amount of meat you get is impressive for the price. The high of the meal was definitely the Lamb. It was melt in your mouth and fork tender. Pretty average truck - both food and price. DF falls short of three stars due to the wait and lack of customer service. The wait was much longer than expected for a food truck - I got the Classic Falafel Sandwich, probably their bread and butter, and it took about 5 minutes. I know 5 minutes isn't long but there was only one person ahead of me who also got the same thing. Customer service issue because the dude was pretty clueless. He was calling out my order even though I was right there - and he didn't even know that I ordered from them. Fantastic food! I visit this truck a lot and I would recommend the Falafel Taco (a vegetarian option that has falafel as the main protein in tortillas) or the Chicken Gyro. This truck clearly cares about the food quality. It's always great and I can tell that all the sauces are hand made.
