Gotta give these guys another perfect rating. This was my first summer move and my first end of the month move so I've never had this much trouble finding a mover before. Like some of the others mentioned I pretty much went down the 1-10 yelp list and only cathedral, bookstore and haul zing had the decency to call me back, although they were all unavailable on my date. This is the 4th time I've used a commercial mover, I've previously used JK once (never again) and 2 guys and a truck twice. 2GT was ok but because I was moving elevator building to elevator building with restricted times I opted for 3 movers and District Relocators had the best rate. The only other ones available on that date were far more expensive (Gentle Giant was 179 per hour + travel time for 3 movers) Corey and crew showed up at the latter end of the time window he gave me which worked out well for my elevator times. The crew itself was far more professional and able-bodied than most of the sets of movers I've had in the past. No problems of any kind to report. I hope I don't have to move for a while but if I need to I'll be giving these guys a call again. Its nice to have movers that actually know the area and 105 for three guys is pretty much unbeatable. I've lived in 5 different states in the last couple years. Every year I follow the same tedious process of renting a U-haul packing my stuff and driving a box truck to my new location. This time I decide it was time to get some movers. I was lucky enough to stumble upon the District Relocators yelp site. With a $50 yelp coupon and a reasonable rate later I was all booked for a Sunday move (a holiday weekend none the less). The crew showed up 30 minutes early and got started right away. I paid for 3 movers but a 4th was included at no additional charge. The crew assigned to my move was Greg, Akeem, Elway, and Derrick. All four were extremely courteous really made this move as stress free as possible. They packed up my studio apartment in roughly 40 minutes and were on the road shortly thereafter, finishing the move under the 3 hour minimum. Overall, I feel District Reloactors provided a great service. While not the cheapest, they offer speedy service and great communication throughout the moving process. read more

My second move with District, as good an experience as the first. Nate, Chico, and Chris were fast and precise - we had a complicated move (2 pick-ups, 2 drop-offs) and they didn't bat an eye. Love being able to tell the crew the plan and then stepping back and letting them handle it. My frugal boyfriend (first experience with movers) was equally pleased and thought it was a great use of our money - something that would have taken us + friends all day done and dusted in four hours. I moved with District Relocators in April 2015 and if I was still in the area I would use them for every move! I can not say enough great things about them. The team helped me to pack and move from DC to NYC in two days (Friday pack up and Saturday AM drive my stuff up to NYC) and it was such a pleasant experience. Moved from DC to NY and the entire process was great including fair pricing. Pick up in DC was easy and drop off in NYC was painless. Unfortunately, the apartment was a mess and the movers had to stack my stuff so I could access the boxes with out unpacking. Also had a couch that did not fit in the elevator and the movers were kind enough to take down stairs (unexpectedly) to the basement storage area. I move at least once every two years and Id use them again!!! read more

Excellent service from start to finish. As soon as I submitted a quote for a move, they called me back within 15 seconds to get further information. Tony and Linda did an excellent job communicating with my wife and I throughout the whole process. The movers arrived on time and did an incredible job gathering all of our items and loading them much faster than we expected. You saw great communication amongst the team. We had some very fragile items set aside so we could move them ourselves but Dave and his team insisted upon gathering them and safely transporting them. They did the job clean and thoroughly and nothing was damaged. I expected nothing less from District Locators. I move very often in the DMV area because of work and this company has never let me down. I've been using them exclusively since 2011 and they are spot on every time. We recently completed our third move with District Relocators; this time, it was from Arlington to N. Bethesda. We have two large LED TVs, plus a lot of glass and mirrored furniture; everything was carefully wrapped in cardboard, moving blankets and plastic wrap. I usually move my TVs myself, but trusted DR to it this time. Everything went very well. There was no significant damage (except for some superficial scratches on minor items (like a trash can lid)). The online/email estimate was for 3 hours "minimum"; it wound up being 5 hours, but there was no lost time during the process. The key to a seamless move: the more stuff you wrap and box yourself, and the more small stuff you move yourself, the better. Give yourself wiggle room when planning your move and considering estimates. Also, DR was able to accommodate our last minute request to move the date three days earlier than initially planned. I will definitely call on DR again. read more

District Relocators -- specifically Jay, Derrick, Elway and Greg were great. They were communicative about when they would arrive, they got there on time and got right to work. They were nice, efficient, and moved all my stuff to my new place in about an hour and a half. My only comment would be that they could slow down just a little to ensure furniture is wrapped properly to avoid scratches during the move and picking up the plastic wrap and empty tape rolls they left in the street. The window you're paying for is three hours so there was time for that. With all that I've very happy with the move and would recommend them. read more

Arrived in the 1-hour window they gave me ahead of time, with a warning call when they were ~20 minutes out. Worked quickly with no damage. They told me exactly how much it would cost, and the circumstances that would cause the move to cost more (going over three hours). It was a minimum three hours charge. If you're moving an efficiency down the block, that may not make sense for you. I moved an over-stuffed 1-bedroom about a 30 minute drive away, and the four movers took less than an hour on each end, despite a long distance between loading dock and apartment on both ends. I probably could have gotten by with three movers, but I wanted them out of my hair so I could get to unpacking. The only attempted upsell was to ask if I wanted a modestly-priced mattress bag. I didn't, because I'm filthy and cheap, but you might. My dealings with the front office were minimal, but seemed fine. I packed all my own boxes, so I can't comment on their packing skills. read more

Let me start off by saying that District Relocators saved the day. When the company that I had a contract with for over a month cancelled on me less than 24hr before my scheduled move, I was panicked to say the least. After calling a few companies without any availabilities, the wonderful woman (I'm sorry, her name slips my mind!) on the phone at District Relocators was a saving grace. She let me know thay they were able to squeeze in my job the following morning. The movers that showed up the next morning were professional and super speedy. We used District Relocators for a local DC move. They called before arrival and arrived, more or less, on time. They started moving almost as soon as they arrived and they moved everything into the truck really quickly. We moved into a skinny rowhouse with a narrow hallway/staircase and they managed to get everything, even our sofa and oddly shapped dressers, up the stairs and into our apartment. I never would have been able to get those items in here without them. I used the $50 coupon that is listed in the website and they took it right off the final price. They had quoted me at 3 hours and they went just over to 3.5 -- which was miraculous considering the furniture and the traffic they encountered on the way over to the new place. Other than the hourly rate, there was only one flat travel fee that seemed really reasonable to me. Overall, a good (and economical) experience. I should also note that they even offered a me a couch for free that another customer had been unable to get into her house. I was moving into a pretty small place, or may have taken them up on it. I've always had my friends help me move, until I had to move four times in three years, and I rand out of moving-help coupons. Hiring professional, courteous, burly men to move my stuff for me was one of the best decisions I could have possibly made. The gentlemen were on time, got right to work, and had all of my belongings out of my old house and into my new apartment in just 3 hours and 15 minutes. PROS: -Overall they did a good job! -The move took the amount of time I was quoted. -I contacted several moving companies in the area, and they were by far the cheapest (less than half the cost of my highest quote). -I ended up paying less than I was originally quoted. -Friendly, funny movers. CONS: -Communication was a bit flakey--I had to email several times and call in order to get a confirmation. -I was called the morning of the move and told the movers would be arriving two hours ahead of schedule. After re-arranging my schedule to accommodate the changed time, they were about 40 minutes late for the new appointment. -I was told I would be getting a 4 man crew based on the size of my move, but only three guys showed up (they adjusted the rate, and were still able to finish by the quoted time). -Two of the movers began to smoke as they were loading the truck. OVERALL: I would definitely use them again--they got the job done, but have opportunities for improving their service. read more

We did a long distance move from DC to Charlotte and everything went like clockwork from the first conversation to delivery. These guys worked really hard in the oppressive heat and humidity and did so with courtesy, professionalism, and diligence. Moreover, the cost was MUCH lower than any of the competition further reducing the stress of the move. If you are reading this on Yelp I encourage anyone at the very least to give District Locators a call for a quote. It will be competitive and from my experience you will not be disappointed with the level of service offered. I hired District Relocators for a simple job - move from a studio to a 1-BR in the same building. For $110/hr three guys showed up. There was some initial miscommunication and I didn't 'pack' my things (every drawer/empty bag was packed- that accounted for roughly 90% of my things). The move went very smoothly and took just over the estimated time of three hours. I love that they charge by 15 minute increments after the initial estimate- a moving company could easily get away with charging an extra half or full hour. The guys who showed up were really nice, professional with regards to handling my items, and didn't slouch even though they were paid by the hour. Needless to say the three of them received generous tips. I would highly recommend them to anyone moving in DC. read more

Far and away the best moving experience I've ever had. Five stars seems conservative. My move was last minute (moving day was 5 days after the first time I called them) and the parameters of my move were kind of wacky and Corey worked with me to accommodate all my needs. Fantastic moving experience! From start to finish the experience was a very good one thanks to the terrific sales rep (Tony) and the AWESOME moving team (Kanobie, Al, and Tray). I used them for a local move from a one bedroom to a one bedroom. I had to find movers with an open appointment in a very tiny window and very quickly. I called and reached out to multiple moving companies, but District Relocators was the first to get back to me. I received a call from Tony almost immediately after filling out my online quote calculator. He was able to give me my options and a breakdown of the price. I found his quote to be very accurate, and honest. I did not end up with any surprise fees after the move. He was very good about asking questions to determine what kind of man power I would need for my move. This was great because I had never used movers before this last time. Honestly, I probably called the poor guy about 5 times in one day, because I kept having questions and every time he was so polite and helpful. The moving team, Kanobie, Al, and Tray were just great! They came in, saw what needed to be done, and just got to it. My stuff was quickly yet carefully wrapped up and placed in the truck. They were very professional, while also being very friendly and nice. My starting location is practically the kingdom of stairs, but they managed superbly. When we got to my final location they were great about figuring out the best way to get everything into the place. They checked everything out first, before attempting to stuff my large pieces of furniture up the narrow entrance staircase, and instead managed up even more stairs(but with more space) in the back. Really these guys know what they are doing, and aren't wasting anytime doing it. What else could you want in movers? The entire move was completed in 2 hours, and there was no damage to any of my items. I would use them again, and would/ will be recommending them to my friends. read more

I had an overall good experience with District Relocators. I looked into the company because of the Yelp reviews and was impressed from the get-go with the communication and the follow through. The day of the move didn't start off as great. I was told the movers would arrive at 2:30. 2:30 came and went and I didn't hear anything. When I called Tony he was very nice and said they had a window of time from 2:30-3:00 to get there and he said they were on their way. 3:15 rolled around and I still hadn't heard anything from anyone - at this point I was starting to get worried and stressed because of loading dock reservations, etc. I called a few more times and felt like I was getting the runaround. I just kept being told they were on their way. The movers finally arrived at like 3:50. The three movers were AMAZING. Sam, TJ, and Jarvis couldn't have been more professional, more hard working, more kind, etc. I can't say enough nice things. Despite the very late start, they made up the time in a very good way and handled things with care. They wrapped everything up, etc. By the end, I had such a positive experience with the three movers that I had blocked out the lateness and stress. I'd definitely recommend District Relocators to my friends (in fact I already have to one person). They just need to work on their move day communication and being more punctual, once they get that worked out...I'd give them five stars. read more

I don't often take the time to write reviews, but I wanted to confirm the many other positive reviews on yelp for this company. I found District Relocators after needing to schedule a complete move from DC to VA in only two weeks. Typically I would enlist friends or family to help, but with the short suspense I couldn't reserve one of the docks until a weekday. They were highly rated on yelp and came with a 50$ coupon! After submitting to get a quote online, Tony promptly called to assist in setting up the move. I had recommended a date, but initially they were proposing the afternoon timeframe. I explained that thanks to DC rush hour - we'd likely face road restrictions that would make an afternoon move difficult, and he said they'd work me in the morning. Tony then sent the online form and a few days after filling it out I called back to confirm - it seemed too easy, but everything was set. The company called the day before my move to confirm the time. My team consisted of Sam, TJ, Chris, and Derrick. They arrived a little early and once they started moving things went FAST. All were careful, consistent, and courteous throughout the whole packing, shipping and movement of my belongings. Unpacking took even less time, and we finished up well within the 3 hour contract. They were enjoyable to work with, and extremely helpful in getting things like the bed set up after. Chris even pointed out a safety issue with one of my two doors which I had not noticed and had management fix immediately They also really enjoy ice, ice cold water. I just completed my move with District Relocators and I would recommend them. They were the first moving company to respond to my request for a quote, and the price was very reasonable. I talked to Mike who got everything set up. I was a little nervous because I didn't get an e-mail confirmation and they don't ask to put down a deposit. On the moving day, the movers called about a half hour before the arrived and even arrived early. We had Greg, Akeem, Mike and Elway as movers and they were all very polite and worked really fast. My only criticism is that they charge you for the time you reserved and not the time actually used. They were so fast we were done in one hour but I had to pay for the 3 I reserved. We had great service from District Relocators on a move from the Clarendon area to Fairlington. Shawn, Leon and Chico arrived and got right to work, moving stuff from our one bedroom apartment. They were friendly, worked quickly and were flexible about a couple of issues during the move. Even more impressive was the destintion. We moved into a thid floor apartment with no elevator, and the three of them were able to pull it off under the three hours quoted, commute time included. I have used these guys twice while moving. Both times district locators were extremely efficient, courteous, and professional. They are probably the best deal in the DC area as well. During both moves they showed up early and did not mess around while moving the boxes and furniture. Both jobs were done within 3 hours despite being big moves. The movers helped retape and repack boxes that were flimsy, they made sure all glass was covered in cloth and safe, and they moved everything with care. On top of this they were very nice and helpful. These guys are the best and I will continue to use them and recommend them to everyone. read more

District Relocators did an excellent job on my move on 6/9/2014. This is the second time I have used them, and they continue to be impressive. Linda called me the day before the move to confirm the details for the move. They arrived early, and Greg called me when they were 15 minutes away, to give me a warning. The three movers (Greg, Sean and Wayne) completely finished the move in less than 3 hours, and everything arrived in good condition. I have several pieces that are family heirlooms with sentimental value, and the team took wonderful care of them. I previously used District Relocators when I first moved my belongings to DC, and they did an excellent job then as well. Their speed, expertise and effectiveness is phenomenal.
