This was my first time and i was less than unimpressed. The quality of the food was significantly lacking. I will not be returning.

First time here for me. We went on a Tuesday @ 12:10pm. The place was packed, but the lined moved surprisingly very quick. I got the three Fish Taco's for $8.50. I have to say, they were the best Fish Taco's I've had in a long time. Seating was tight upstairs, but you just have to make due, as the place is small and loud. Great location and very easy to order via a person or self service kiosk. I had three chicken tacos. You can choose from a wide variety of toppings. Overall the Taco's were very fresh but bland. Coming from SoCal originally, tacos are a pretty essential part of my life. This place is great because it's a good location near the Metro Center stop, it's pretty fast to order and get your food, and the tacos are pretty reasonable. I ended up ordering a set of three tacos on flour tortillas: chicken, steak, and al pastor. I was actually super happy they offered the tacos on flour tortillas because I am actually a little allergic to corn and usually they don't substitute the tortillas. In my heart, I know they are actually better on corn tortillas (unless it's a breakfast taco), but I settle for what I can get. The Al Pastor was definitely my favorite and the most flavorful of the tacos I tried. The other ones were just okay. I liked the salsa bar inside and how you could see them making the tacos. However, the seating and space is limited. There's one table downstairs and maybe 7-8 tables upstairs, but it's a bit cramped. Honestly, not quite like SoCal, but pretty decent tacos. I haven't tried any other tacos in the area to compare to either, but I am pretty happy with the reasonable price and portion. read more

I have to say in my life I have had better burritos but also much worse burritos. It's a typical fast-casual place to get lunch during the workday. I did enjoy that the ordering was done on a screen with a lot of customization options. I would return if I needed some food and was close by but it was not out of this world incredible. I came here for dinner and I was very pleased with the tacos here! I did the 3 tacos for $8 deal and got the pollo, carne asada, and carnitas. They were all yummy but my favorite was the pollo. I love their unlimited salsa bar, pretty spicy stuff there so be careful. I would love to come back and try their fish tacos, only offered on selected days. Great tacos, great tasting salas. Ask for the habanero salsa that they don't have at the salsa bar if you really want some heat. Corn tortillas are fresh and taste great. Ask for the tacos the "Mexican way" which means they are just served with onions and cilantro. Carnitas, extra crispy, are my favorite. read more

In my opinion, this place reminds me of Chipotle, it is not really your typical authentic Mexican food, it's more Americanize. That being said, the quality of the tacos was decent. I did not know what to order at first, but I ended up getting the taco trios; Barbacoa, Carne Asada, and Al Pastor on corn tortillas. I was not a fan of the steak, it was a little bit on the bland side for my taste. However, the Al Pastor and the Barbacoas really hit the spot for me. Asides from tacos, they also serve burritos, salad, rice bowls, etc. I am a huge fan of their fountain drinks, it's not your typical Coke and Pepsi, more on the spectrum of craft sodas. Wasn't my favorite but was decent for what it was! My chicken salad was alright and I appreciated how customizable it was! The guac seemed like it wasn't fresh, it had a similar consistency to the stuff you get at the grocery store! We did love the queso so I would suggest picking that up! After my 7th check-in, I must update my review with 5 stars. Except for the first visit, I have ordered online. Every time I went to pick up my order, my food was ready at my requested time. People at the "Online Order Pick Up" are all so nice. I was so grateful when I went there to pick up but realized my order didn't go through, the male staff was kind enough to take my order right there (instead of sending me to the very long line all the way out of the store.) and my order was made immediately! What I like best about this place is that there are plenty of flavorful salsas to choose from at the bar and they don't limit the quantity quantity you choose. The guacamole at the salsa bar is subpar and not flavorful, but it is free. My friend ordered steak tacos and said that the steak was also very flavorful. We visited DT last night as we entered DC for our weekend getaway. We are vegetarians and we're glad to find 2 options for us. They have guacamole and vegan option for vegetarians which is still not bad. The concept is you pick what you want then your protein and then your toppings. On a Friday evening due to location, it was packed and since the weather was nice we wanted to sit outside and also because inside wasn't stroller friendly. Pros: Casual atmosphere. Enough seats outside to sit and enjoy with stroller Good-ish food ( we are from Chicago so certainly have had better hole-in-the wall Mexican) Salsa bar Friendly staff Cons: Not stroller friendly inside (not sure if the weather was bad if we'd visit here) We had wait 40 minutes for seats and they were self serve seats They managed to screw up our 2 simple vegetarian order (but the server was nice enough to change it for us I don't think I would visit this place again while my visit here. Definitely the best DT taco location in town. It's always packed but they keep the line moving and you get your food quickly (their might be a bit of a wait for a table, offered both inside and out). Love the number of taco options available and want to give a shout-out to their veggie option, the Itza, which has some really flavorful vegan "meat". There are four basic topping combos to choose from, or you could add unlimited extras (which would make for a very crowded taco!) off the board. No extra charge for sour cream like a lot of other places. The non-taco options I usually ignore but they have salads, quesadillas, burritos and more. Slow-cooked meat options are only available after 10AM and beforehand there are breakfast tacos. DT has a nice salsa bar as well for unlimited basics (no fruit salsas sadly) but it ia positioned in a corner so it isially bottlenecks. Great lunch option! read more

Surprisingly, I had never actually been to any District Taco locations ever and it was sooooo good. I always say the "Chipotle" benchmark is how to determine a good fast-casual Mexican place. This was very much above it. For such a hot spot in DC the prices were totally reasonable. The carne asada was the best. Both hot sauces at the free salsa bar were equally excellent. I've been here twice, once with family and another time with friends, and I have never been disappointed! This place is great for take out, a quick bit, or even a sit down. There is an upstairs seating area if you decide to stay. Also, it's very close to the National Mall, so you can sit on the benches in the park and enjoy the view. The menu is similar to Chipotle or Tacoria, where you either order tacos, a burrito, bowl, or quesadilla. However, each place has its own signature taste. read more

I'm a big fan of Mexican food and I've tried tacos all over the USA. Sorry guys but if you think these tacos are good, you're missing out. Their saving grace would have to be the Pico de Gallo. It really has amazing flavor. We ordered: 3 fish tacos, 1 Barbacoa and 2 chicken. The Barbacoa and chicken were on corn tortillas and Mexican topping. The chicken is really dry and they shouldn't put two tortillas on each taco, it makes it drier. The fish tacos had zero flavor. The guac could use more salt. Not a fan... the tacos I've tried have been okay at best. I haven't tried the flour shells, but the corn ones are often kind of mushy and falling apart. The meat is dry and not very flavorful. I end up pouring half a container of salsa onto the taco to give it some flavor, which makes it better but still not great, unfortunately. On top of that, they're also on the smaller side. I order the 3 for $9 normally but could easily eat 4. If you can walk an extra 10 minutes, I'd recommend checking out Taco Bamba. Although slightly more expensive, their selection is huge and their tacos are amazing. read more

This is pretty decent Mexican fast food. I think the quality is a cut above Chipotle. I got a bowl, with Itza - their vegetarian protein option. It was pretty tasty but nothing spectacular. I wasn't a fan of the large quantity of white rice. I'm trying to be health conscious, so next time I'd tell them to leave out the rice. Actually, I'd appreciate brown rice as an option! Their hot Mestizo salsa from the salsa bar provided a nice kick. The problem at this place is seating. I'm a visitor to DC and didn't know what to expect. The place seemed packed and the outdoor seating was overflowing with groups hovering over the busy tables, so I asked at the counter if I could expect open seats upstairs or if I should order to go. "Sure, there are seats," she said. But when I got up there I found a very small seating area, completely full and with a lot of people trying to snag any seat that opened up! I had to change my order to To Go and walk over to Pershing Park to eat it. Lucky the weather was good or I'd have really been in a bind! Everything is great here, the beef, the pork, the vegetables. Everything. They are always really fast at District Taco. Beyond that, you can get some *free* guacamole, *if* you order a breakfast taco, with your regular dinner tacos, and ask for guacamole on the breakfast taco (at District Taco, you can always get free guacamole on a breakfast taco, while other kinds of tacos always result in an extra charge for the guacamole). These good things are true for all District Taco stores, not just this one here in Roslyn. . . . . District Taco is usually . . . super-clean. This one in Roslyn certainly is. ------------------------------------------ All of that is true for this one by the Treasury Department building, except that it *is* a little messy. I really should give them more than 4 stars (if I wasn't limited by the Yelp grading matrix, I would give this District Taco 4.5, really like 4.4, stars; it's great), but the messiness here should keep them from all 5 stars.
