Very dissatisfied with my order. I was shown a sample one week prior and I said, " I don't like the arrangement because the flowers on the top are not open." All 7 of the arrangements were delivered with 7-9 flowers per arrangement with the flowers closed. I was told by George, " I give my word, I will order the flowers earlier to make sure they are open." At that point if he knew this would be an issue, he should have suggested a different flower on top. After our conversation he said, " I added heat to them, they would not open." A quality florist would have swapped out those top flowers with another type of flower to make it look fuller as I requested. George never called back to follow up after our first conversation that I was unhappy. The other red flag was the pushy asking for cash only!! I would have preferred to pay via credit card, for my points on United Airlines. I think the fact that he was so wanting cash only was another indication of poor quality. This is 2024, we have so many modern ways of paying. Apple Pay, Venmo, Cash app Super weird the cash only thing. I found it to be funky and pretty cool; I had them swap the red roses pictured for some new, fresh orange ones to match the other flowers in the arrangement better. Are they the best in terms of quality of the flowers? My mom is pretty diligent with upkeep and taking care of her flowers and plants, so based on that too, I would say yes. They're slightly overpriced, in my opinion. I know flowers in general are just expensive AF (so annoying) and of course, you are also paying for the convenience of a store in town. I have to start with saying that the house where the flowers were left with no note. Good thing one of our neighbors brought them in to the building. After further investigation, I had to ask my boyfriend if he had sent them to me. Well he was pretty upset that there was no note on the flowers and that the flowers were meant to be a surprise. At this point I had sent him a picture of the arrangement and thank him for it. My boyfriend proceeded to inform me that he had ordered Dozen Roses. Needless to say, that is not what I received or what he paid for. I realized that it's the busiest time of the year, but it is not a surprise holiday. Plus I know that the prices go up when it comes to Valentine's Roses. Therefore, if you do not have the inventory for a dozen roses, let the customer know and they can choose what they want at that time. I hope that when my boyfriend calls to get an explanation about the arrangement, he will not have to deal with the female worker that everyone on this page keeps on complaining about. Really, very disappointed with the arrangement that we got this Valentine's Day (purchased on the 13th). My boyfriend ordered $60 worth of sunflowers and red roses - we got 6 roses and 7 sunflowers total, which was fine. A couple of hours after we received them, we put them into a vase with the plant food that was provided, only to see them get progressively worse before they were in full bloom- wilting just one day after Valentine's Day. We get it, flowers die. But certainly not this soon. Even in sunlight, in a vase, and with proper hydration, within three days these had become shriveled, droopy, and unpresentable. I've posted a picture with a very much alive and thriving rose i received from a deli in front of the bouquet from Ditmars Flowers and you can see what a vast difference there is in quality. Going "green" has never been a problem here, as the entire place is decked out in plants varying in all shapes and sizes. In fact, upon first glance this place looks almost like a mini-jungle compared to a flower shop as they specialize in much more than just flowers. I have gone here to research plants for decor reasons as well as romantic, but in general many of these pots + plants make for good gifts as well. Prices aren't horrendous, but a good rule of thumb here is to measure the price by the size of the plant. So that 5 foot bamboo shoot may be a tad more expensive than the tiny Venus Fly Trap. Service here is solid. They're good about greeting new customers that come and do a semi-adequate job of describing each of their plants to would be buyers. Phone manners could use a little work at times, as I've been rushed off in more than occasion. I figured it was because they were busy but I don't see this place busy virtually ever. From the start they were very helpful in talking to me about what I wanted and what would work best for my event. They did the bouquets/corsages which turned out beautifully and lasted throughout the night and still looked great! I called the florist for an order on Valentine's day, I asked for delphiniums and Calla Lillie's in a long vase. I wanted to spend total around 80 dollars. I wanted an elegant long bouquet in a long vase, and preferably purple flowers. The attached picture is what the girl I'm dating received. It wasn't at all what I asked for, but George did me a solid favor and sent her a loose bouquet of flowers additionally which I thought was great. Pros: George delivered adequate customer service and the flowers were decently arranged Cons: The order wasn't what I asked for originally, and when I called to express this, they stated, "it's Valentine's Day, it's the busiest day of the year." Well yes, you're a florist shop, you deliver flowers on the busiest and most lucrative holiday of the year, therefore I should get what I asked for, the service I paid for. Secondly, I should have been adequately counseled on what I should expect to receive on the budget I set, and suggestions based on what I'm looking for. Lastly, for what I received this arrangement was pretty expensive. I could have picked up a beautiful bouquet from the Bronx at a florist that I love and know is dependable and delivered it myself for half the price. It started with over a week ago when I thought it was a good idea to give flower to my mother for Mother's Day. I looked up a local place that was a few blocks from my mom's house. Local delivery means it's fresher and faster, right? The online process was fine, but there was no specific time delivery. I didn't give too much thought about it. A few days before mother's day I gave my mother a call and told her to expect a delivery. Surprise? Mother's day came and my mother waited the whole morning for it. At 2:30pm, she called me and said she wanted to go to eat. We lost Mother's Day brunch waiting for this "surprise". I told her it was flowers, and she ask me to call to see when they're delivering. George picked up and said Mother's Day delivery ranges 8am-8pm and the truck will probably get there at 6pm. They'll leave a note if we're not there and redeliver at our earliest convenience free of charge. Alright, so we left for an early dinner and came back to her house around 6:45pm. There was no note around the door so we figure the florist hasn't came around yet. I left and told her to probably expect it up to 8pm. 9:11pm I got an email claiming the flowers were delivered. I called my mom and she said they never came. I call the Flower Shop and they were like, oh yea, we went there at 6pm and no one was there. "I didn't see any note." Oh, the truck driver left a message on the answering machine. George was closing the shop and offered to deliver the flowers personally after he closed the shop. I said okay, fine. I called my mother to tell her to expect the florist coming from around 9-10pm. By then she was complaining about waiting all day for flowers that never came, flowers that have been wilting in a truck since morning and it looks completely nasty now. She was very upset and felt that Mother's day was ruined. George contacted me a few days later because of a very upsetting Yelp review and wanted to make things right. After a good long thought, the best way was the formal apologize. The next day, after my mother came home from a make-up Mother's day celebration, there was an apology card, and sincerely letter apology in English and Chinese, and a money plant. I think she's feel better than Sunday now. Ditmars Flower Shop really went out of their way to make things right. Mistakes can be made at times, but management do really want their customers to be happy. This is what make local businesses great. read more

Ordered a $60 arrangement and with delivery came to $80. Was not up to par. Blown open rose. Flower price wasn't there, and no design just thrown together. Was not worth the price and a disappointment to florists. Designers choice means I trust you, the designer, to know what's best. This is not best. No design or flow at all. Maybe I'm biased as I grew up amongst florists but it's a disappointment & makes me understand why people wouldn't order flowers at that high of a price point. Contacted the owner and he said "the value was there" annoyed, because blown rose is not value, another florist posted in a florist group and let's just say they all agree: not worth the price, no design concept. I know flowers are expensive, especially right now, but that doesn't excuse poor concept nor poor customer service. It's okay if you have a bad day and throw together flowers but be honest, this isn't $60 worth of flowers by a long shot nor was there any labor to throw these in a random green container. This reviews relates to an order I made from fromyouflowers.com, you may get a different experience in-store but I guess it reveals nonetheless their complete lack of good manners. The facts: I made an order online for a delivery on Saturday, eve of Mother's day. On Friday morning, I received a call from their delivery guy saying he was outside our house. We were not there and told him the order was for next day. He apologized (only apologies I got) and this could have been the end of it. Later in the day I received a call from the store, no apologies whatsoever, their only agenda was to get me to accept a delivery on Friday. What I really did not like is that they use COVID as an excuse - there is no denying COVID + mother day certainly put them through a lot of stress but the first / right thing to do would have been to acknowledge they got the order wrong and in all cases, in any job where you are facing customers you should be able to keep your composure and remain courteous. Anyway I quickly decided to compromise an said I could get the delivery on Friday but late afternoon. The first person I talked with, who already had some very limited listening skills decided to let me talk to the manager. This went from bad to worse, the guy was rude and did not let me make a full sentence as he kept on interrupting me. He finally told me he was cancelling the order and hang up on me. Here on yelp they only list the 800 number, like its mostly mail/online ordering. They have a local number...and are very much a welcoming place to walk into and check out the wares. Personally I was looking for a Venus Fly Trap, and they had plenty of them. The guy, George, was very cool and helpful about telling me how to take care of it. Well, today I was in the market for some flowers for a certain sick bf of mine and decided to take my time with this task. Ditmars Flowers & Gifts was my last stop, and I'm sure glad that I didn't skip it! This is by far the nicest and most creative florist on the street, with many flowers and arrangement styles to choose from and a variety of both potted and cut flowers. There are many trendy creations, such as a fishbowl with live succulents and many artsy orchid arrangements, as well as the standard roses and gerberas you'll find at most florists. The difference between this place and the others on the block is that, while most places will give you a standard bouquet, this one will give you an artsy one. Many of the other florists here are outdated in their styles and decor and tend to use cheap filler flowers in their bouquets or even fake (!) ones (notice the artificial pointsettias many Astoria many florists adorn their wreaths with around Christmas). If you want more than just the bare minimum for flowers on Ditmars, then this is your best bet. read more

I'll order a bouquet from their online site and the finished product sometimes looks WAY different from what i've ordererd.
