I paid $250 to participate in a performance, but unfortunately landed in the hospital for 10 days and was unable to perform. I communicated this, expecting some level of understanding or flexibility. Instead, I was told there would be no reimbursement -- only the option to perform at the next event, and not even at full value -- just a discounted rate. And this was only offered after they could not get enough girls to sign up for that performance. I also never received the text she said she sent, and the screenshot she claimed to provide never came through. While I truly understand that she just had a newborn -- and I wish her and her family well -- there was no compassion shown to me during my own serious medical emergency. For anyone considering joining, please be aware of all the additional fees involved. The membership is costly, and if you cancel a class last minute due to unforeseen circumstances -- even legitimate emergencies -- you're still charged a late cancellation fee. These extra fees are not always made clear upfront and can quickly add up. Not to mention it is communicated that guest can attend one class for free. That has not always been the case for me even when sending the link through my invite. I was also told there's no profit made off these performances. However, after doing my own research, I found out that organizations like the Diamondbacks don't charge for these pregame performances -- and many companies actually use these events as a way to raise money. That was really disappointing to learn, especially after being told otherwise. If this is true and it's the franchise rules that don't allow a reimbursement then everyone should know this upfront. Since stepping away from DivaDance, I've discovered other local dance studios that charge a fraction of the cost, foster a great sense of community, and don't charge cancellation fees. It's been a refreshing and positive change. I believe in supporting small businesses and the arts, but this experience left me feeling misled, unsupported, and taken advantage of. I hope in the future others do not experience this same situation which is why I felt compelled to be transparent in my own experience.

She has an upbeat attitude, and is motivational for those of us that really can't dance, but boy does she make us think we can! The teachers are all very nice! Very sweet to my daughter and I really appreciated that. I wasn't fond of the seating options to watch her dance though. Benches are small and uncomfortable. The dance classrooms have small windows and blinds. It is hard to see in the classroom unless you're standing at the windows and a lot of other parents stand and watch too. Cost for tuition is higher than other studios I've talked to. Almost twice expensive monthly. Class times weren't ideal for us. Wish there was a mid-morning weekday class for her because our evenings are pretty busy and the location isn't super close to our home. I don't want to deal with rush hour traffic. Overall my daughter said class was fine, little boring, so we will continue the search.

I spoke with Lindsay, the owner of the studio, and asked her if she could help me plan a night to remember for my wife. Amazingly, Lindsay jumped right in and helped me plan a magical night. She arranged it so my wife and I could come in after hours. Then she and her staff set up the items I'd dropped off at the studio: candles and flowers, which they arranged in the shape of a large heart in the center of the dance floor. As my wife and I walked in, they turned down the lights. My wife, still totally clueless to our efforts, thought we were walking into a business that had just closed for the evening. Then suddenly the candles came on and slow dance music started to play. I walked my wife back to the dressing rooms where the dance clothes I'd dropped off were already laid out. Still confused, I explained to my wife that we had the entire dance studio to ourselves with a private lesson from Bo. He was the gentleman who was going to be our dance instructor for the evening. When my wife appeared from the dressing room Bo greeted us with such enthusiasm, it made it really special. He asked us what we hoped to learn that evening, and explained what we would do to get there. Bo was great. He told us that he believed in positive reinforcement and that every time we got something right, we either had to hug or kiss! Even though Bo was in on it with my efforts to make things magical that evening, the positive reinforcement stuff was all him, and honestly, it made the night even better. Don't get me wrong, I probably looked more like a toddler who'd been drinking shots of tequila than I did someone who was swing dancing, but Bo's encouragement and patience made it all seem not so terrible for me. At the end of our lesson, Bo walked up and told us that we now had 20 mins to enjoy the dance floor however we liked. We started by doing everything he'd shown us that evening, but ended by dancing in each other's arms. It was simply the best night I could have hoped for, and I owe it all to Lindsay and Bo. We will be back!!!

The owner of the studio also did a very fun treat for all of her students to show that she cared and she made ballerina cookies for the girls to do a drive by and pick them up. Since things opened back up, the studio enforces all precautionary measures to make you feel comfortable including taking temperatures with thermometers at the door, social distancing tape and sanitizer. The entire dance studio is run down and has a lot of cosmetic and functional problems. Floors are peeling up, transitions in doorways are missing or sticking up, and paint is chipped everywhere. There is even a spot in the floor in one of the dance rooms that looks like it is sinking and moldy. The windows to see in the dance rooms are high and standing at them is difficult because the hallways are very small. The owner also teaches classes and taught my daughters class. She ALWAYS started late and ended early. I actually started keeping track because I felt like we were being jipped in time. The class was supposed to be an hour long and every single time it was only about 30 minutes which is frustrating because I am paying for an hour. Every class was the exact same routine and if that meant it ended early because there were not a lot of kids, then that is what happened. My daughter was by herself once and there was no 1 on 1 teaching, it was the same routine of play this song and do this song. The teacher also liked to do a choreographed dance and read her notes in her book and dance to the song, but not actually teach it to the kids. So she watched herself in the mirror and did the dance while these poor little kids tried to follow along. My daughter loves dancing and wanted to do gymnastics too so we found this dance studio that did tumbling as part of the class. She loved that part of the class so we decided to leave and pursue gymnastics. It was a good out to leave and I didn't care that we had some makeup classes still. I do know they have a groupon and that's how a lot of people found out about this place. I was not aware of the groupon which would have saved me $30 a month. There are a lot of dance studios for kids out there, but this one is not worth the charged price per month and would look elsewhere, even thought the reviews state otherwise.

My daughter came to PDC after just three years experience at another studio. I didn't understand…read morehow important it would be that this studio is a cooperative. What that means is that instead of becoming profit their money is spent hiring the BEST instructors! My daughter's technique has improved by leaps and bounds - no pun intended. They focus on safety, which is important since she is on pointe now. She continually improves and strives to be the best dancer she can be. The choreographers are so fabulous, expecting a lot from them while still setting attainable goals for the students. Perfect mix of high expectations and supportive feedback. One thing I didn't expect was that she would fall so much in love with this studio that she asked to go from 3 classes to 11 classes. I wasn't sure she would be able to keep up with school work since she is in advanced classes so I told her sure but if your grades slip you are going to have to drop some classes. She has maintained a 95% or better in all classes despite dancing from 4 - 8:30 four nights per week. She loves the studio and the kids are like family. Any studio that can make you strong, healthy, keep phones out of her hands and inspire her to keep her grades as high as possible is the type of studio I want to be part of. You get plenty of time at the award podium too but it is about so much more for these nationally recognized choreographers!
