My initial review was after a few sessions. After I spent a year there, I left, as did most people I knew. Would not recommend.

Had been gone for a year with no workouts, but the place looked brand sparkling new. So glad to get back to regular workouts.

I'm 56, and in very poor shape. 5'9" and 195 lbs. Grew up as an athlete, played fast pitch softball from age 8 - 40... and yes I was the pitcher. Injured my back, and never went back. Am I too old for this kind of gym?

Not at all. Come in and try a week free and see if it works for you.

I thought the Zumba instructor did a great job when I took her class but my main focus is boxing, kickboxing, and boot camp.

I actually liked the gym itself and its equipment selection, but my experience with the membership process and staff interactions created so much unnecessary frustration and ill will that I have now requested cancellation of all my EōS memberships and decided I would rather find another gym. One of my biggest issues was my repeated interactions with Kiani regarding the fitness/personal-training program. I clearly said that I wasn't interested, but instead of simply accepting "no," I felt repeatedly questioned and pressured about my decision. He asked me things like "How will you reach your goals?" as though I couldn't successfully work toward my fitness goals without enrolling in their program. This was particularly irritating because I had already successfully lost about 10 lb on my own. I explained that I normally exercise 5-6 days per week, doing approximately 10 minutes of cardio and 30-40 minutes of strength training. I was then told that this wasn't enough and that I should instead be doing around 30 minutes of cardio plus an hour of strength training. My doctors and nutrition professionals have been supportive of the routine I've been following, and consistency rather than excessive intensity has been what actually helped me make progress. I wasn't asking for my workout routine to be critiqued. I was simply saying that I did not want to purchase a fitness/personal-training program. Offering the program once is perfectly reasonable. What I found inappropriate was repeatedly questioning why I didn't want it, questioning how I would reach my goals, and "fitness-splaining" to me why my existing routine supposedly wasn't enough after I had already declined. "No, thank you" should have been enough. Unfortunately, the membership issue that followed made the experience considerably worse. I initially signed up online for Will Crush and shortly afterward decided that Will Power better suited what I wanted. I contacted EōS and then went to this location in person on September 3 specifically to cancel Will Crush and sign up for Will Power. Kiani handled this and told me that Will Crush had been cancelled and that everything was "all set." I left believing that the old membership was cancelled. My app continued showing Will Crush, however, so I followed up. The next day, Olivia actually checked my account and told me that Will Crush was still active and had NOT been cancelled. She then submitted another cancellation request to management and told me that it was expected to be processed by September 9 or 10. My September 4 written correspondence documents that I had been told the membership was cancelled in person and subsequently learned that it remained active. I want to be clear that Olivia was helpful, and my complaint is not directed at her. She actually checked the account, discovered the problem, explained what had happened, and attempted to get it corrected. What I find unacceptable is going to the gym specifically to cancel a membership, being told that it was cancelled and everything was taken care of, and then discovering afterward that the membership was still active. This was also happening while I was within the cancellation/rescission period stated in my membership agreement. The agreement itself says that a member may cancel before midnight of the third operating day after receiving the agreement and is entitled to a full refund when cancellation occurs within that period. Instead of a simple membership change, I have had to repeatedly follow up, submit online inquiries, call, return in person, send written cancellation notices and create my own documentation because I don't want to discover later that I'm being charged for memberships I requested cancelled. At that point, the accumulated experience changed my opinion of the gym entirely. The repeated pressure and unsolicited "fitness-splaining" had already created considerable ill will, and discovering that a membership I was explicitly told had been cancelled was actually still active was the final straw. I have now requested cancellation of all my EōS memberships. It's unfortunate because I genuinely liked the equipment, but I would rather find another gym than deal with a membership experience where saying "no" to an additional paid program isn't simply respected and where I have to repeatedly follow up to make sure a cancellation I was told was completed actually happened.

Mountainside Gym somehow manages to prove that more equipment does not equal a better gym…read more The place is ridiculously cramped. They've packed so much equipment into the facility that it feels like they're trying to turn every available square foot into another machine. There's barely any breathing room, and when the gym is busy, it becomes an absolute nightmare to navigate. It feels less like a well-designed gym and more like a storage unit full of fitness equipment. And then there's the cleanliness--or lack thereof. For a place where hundreds of people are sweating, touching equipment, and working out every day, you'd think keeping the facility clean would be a pretty basic priority. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel that way. Management is another major disappointment. There seems to be far more interest in cramming the gym with equipment than actually maintaining the facility or improving the member experience. The priorities seem completely backwards. At some point, someone needs to realize that buying another machine isn't going to fix a dirty, overcrowded, poorly managed gym. Mountainside has plenty of equipment. What it desperately needs is better management, better cleaning, better organization, and--most importantly--some actual room to use the equipment they already have. If your idea of a great gym is an overcrowded, cramped space where cleanliness and basic upkeep seem to be afterthoughts, you'll probably love it. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
