This is a sports bar with a vague scuba theme. They've got a huge selection of beers and bar food. It gets loud, but that's just because it's a popular spot. They've got big booths in the back if you want to squeeze eight of your friends at the same table. read more

Pretty typical dive bar, as the name implies. Only stopped in for a drink with some friends. They have an expansive beer menu. I had a strawberry beer that I'd never heard of before which was really good. Service was good and our server was really cool; she let us sit at a table, even though we were just stopping in quickly. We came from Las Vegas, Nevada for vacation. We heard this was the 2nd best place to have Poutine. My sister (who lived in NY), my two grandsons also from Vegas and myself walked over 5 miles to try this food dish. When we finally arrived we were exhausted, Catlian our server sat us in the back in a small booth for the four of us it was very uncomfortable. We must have stood out because this guy came over and said would u like to move up to our VIP area (he was joking and made us all laugh), it had to be better then were we were sitting. Don't get me wrong it was a nice area just not for four people. Our VIP was way better and came to find out the guy that offered us a new seating area was indeed the manager (Howie). The food turned out to be the best, why it's rated second place I will never understand. The staff was AMAZING, if I lived there this would be my number one place to go to. The food was awesome and the staff, the manager they all went beyond their customer service abilities and our table wasn't the only one, everyone was enjoying themselves. I only wish we could have stayed longer as we found this place before we were ready to go back to NV. PLEASE check this place out and tell them we Cindy from Vegas recommended this place. I went because I read online that they have an awesome birthday special...they give you as many wings as your age. I should have called ahead to confirm because when I sat down and asked for the birthday special, the server told me that it was discontinued long ago. That's what I get for not noticing that the online review was written in 2009! Regardless, I ordered 10 wings because I was pumping myself up for them all afternoon. Got 5 regular and 5 jerked wings. I must say they were pretty good - plump and juicy. They weren't drenched in some cheap, sour 'vinegary' hot sauce like other places. They make their own hot sauce, which is pretty hot and tasty. They have a nice selection of premium beers from all over the globe. Good happy hour prices. I think I paid $4 for each Hoegaarden. read more

solid UWS bar with a decent beer selection. when you first walk in your are introduced to a lovely aquarium and that theme continues throughout the place. you are surrounded by tv's and can be a little stuffy during a big sports event. Food: OMG! We all had something different and it was all great ! Veggie Reuben was killer! Service a little slow, but a party of 5 on Valentines Day, 2 were 79+ and we're all southern? I eat and drink here regularly and everything is really good but I realized my prior review was outdated. I'm keeping the 5 star rating, but I'd be lying if I said it was not at least partly based on the memory of the Belgian Thai Wings which left the menu. If anyone has had them, you know what I'm talking about. I really like coming to this bar with all the other hot sweaty softball teams who drag our carcasses over from Central Park after a game. Drink prices are reasonable and the bar food hits the spot. Everyone should have a go-to-bar. Mine is the most unpretentious bar in the UWS. They have an amazing beer selection, decent drinks, and drinkable wine. The food is good, and the staff is down to earth and attentive. This place gets really busy on the weekends and during game season, but nonetheless, it is still a good place to unwind. I've gone to Dive Bar twice to watch the world cup. Both times I've gone alone, and sat at the bar. They've got a nice beer list, and many screens for sports viewing. I tried their poutine, and it was good, but not great. Place is pretty laid-back and the staff is chill. All in all, a nice place to watch a match. read more

Probably my favorite neighborhood bar in NY. It's been years since I lived in the UWS, yet I still find myself here at least once a month for Tuesday night trivia or Sunday football. The daft list is extensive and always features a handful of local IPAs from the likes of Other Half, Industrial Arts, and Barrier. Food is top-notch bar grub and the blackened salmon sandwich is reliably fantastic. A bit of a misleading name. The term Dive Bar implies that the setting is going to look less than desirable, and that it may be a destination for those looking to drink cheap beer in the dark. This is in no way a dive bar, it's a sports bar. It's a decent bar with good lighting, tons of TVs, a solid beer list and general bar food. I've always loved this place...not only do they have a fantastic beer selection, but the food is incredibly good (and WAY better for what you would expect of a "dive bar"), AND the wine selection is great. Not your typical dive, but definitely an amazing neighborhood bar. Staff: The bartenders are very friendly and accomodating, and the servers are nice although a little nonchalant at times. Food: I have eaten here several times and had both great and not so great experiences. The menu is a weird mish mash of food which is nice for variety, but sometimes quality suffers. They have exceptional mussels (Friday nights), and their mac and cheese is killer. They also do breakfast all day. Friends say the wings are great, but all in all it's just bar food. Drinks: The best part. They have a HUGE beer selection and the drinks are very reasonably priced. Atmosphere: Ranges from men in suits after work to Zog sports teams after games and other people of all ages. I never feel out of place. It's very relaxed and welcoming. And they have a juke box. The Beth Meyer and Tuna Melt sandwiches are two of my faves - and the birthday chicken wings were great. Been here for lunch during the week and it was very chill. Gets a bit crowded on the usual 'popular' nights throughout the week so tend to order dinner delivery rather than eat in those days. Excellent beer selection for NYC. Food (pub grub) is good and vegetarian friendly with an above average homemade veggie burger. Great selection of hot sauces, too, but beware of the Dive Bar hot sauce. It's delicious, but it'll get you. TVs play sports, and it's a good place to watch a game. read more

love love love dive bar! fantastic beer selection. good food. my only problem with them is that their seating is kind of weird-- bar, big tables in the back (reserved for large groups), a couple tall tables, some normal tables, and one giant round table right in the corner (of course this is where i got stuck one night... and it was horrible). the lighting over those tables is also quite unflattering. but at least you can look at the fish in the fish tank. read more
