I took the PADI Rescue Diver class from Shaun B. and he did an exceptional job teaching the class and going to extra mile to teach me about "real world" scenarios and experiences and had great stories to drive home the lessons. He taught the class in a clear, calm, direct manner and made sure we understood the "why" behind each technique. Shaun is also a combat medic so his CPR and first aid class was also way over and above what you would expect from another instructor. Compared to your regular PADI dive shop and other instructors who have been good to great, Shaun and Diver's Paradise are easily top 5% and I can't recommend them enough. Martina was very helpful and accommodating in booking the classes and I am looking forward to more dive trips on their NICE, new 40' dive boat. read more

Joined them for an afternoon to scuba dive. The crew were very knowledgeable and helpful on the boat and underwater. Saw a lot of cool fish. Booked to go to Neptune and the plans changed and we went to a ship wreck, would have been nice to have taken a poll to switch locations but the ship wreck was also pretty cool. I've been diving both professionally and recreationally for many years so I can be pretty critical of dive shops. Divers Paradise did not disappoint. It is a little pricier than some others but the high quality of the gear, boats, facilities, and staff reflect the price. I brought my girlfriend and our friend to do a Discover Scuba course here and it was top notch. Carlos and his team went far out of their way to educate them both and ensure they had a safe and fun day of diving. Great dive operation! A buddy and I were in town for a weekend and did two outings with them. The first outing was two night dives which were excellent. The Captain and crew were friendly and helpful. We did a wreck dive followed by a reef dive. The conditions were great and the dive boat was in great condition and had an upper deck you could sit on to get some air while underway. The only downside was the 45 minute bottom time limit imposed by the captain on the shallow dive. Many of us could have easily had an hour of bottom time on the aluminum 80s we were diving. But it was still a great experience. The second outing was even better. Andrew led us on a trip to the USS Spiegel Grove. If you're not familiar with it, it's a massive wreck that is very fun to dive. Andrew is super knowledgeable about the wreck and led us on two amazing dives. Paradise divers provided transportation to the boat launch site since its further away due to the location of the wreck. From start to finish it was a great experience and Andrew is one of the best dive guides I've had out of several hundred dives. I'll definitely dive them again next time I'm in Miami. read more

Maybe this place is fine for snorkelers, but divers beware! Some issues we had: They nickel and dime you: The price on the site includes neither tanks nor weights, and this is not made clear anywhere. Thus, an extra $35 per person for two air tanks and boat weights. I generally don't bring my own weights on boats due to convenience (and some boats have a no hard weights or no soft weights policy so it can be a hassle), but had I known they were going to charge us here I would've packed mine in the car. The value is poor: Max bottom time/time in the water is 50 minutes, for dive sites of 40' and 20'. Every other shop I've been to allows at least an hour. As someone who can spend well over an hour underwater at 40' and be back on the boat with 800 psi, I felt very shortchanged here. They also don't offer snacks or drinks on the boat, which, considering their pricing, you'd think they might do. (I did find this out prior to the trip via a Facebook review and so we brought our own snacks and drinks) Our surface interval was a whopping 10 minutes, basically just long enough to swap tanks. The dive sites were shallow enough that it wasn't a safety issue, but it did make the trip feel very rushed. Communication is TERRIBLE: I booked online, weeks out, for both the morning and afternoon boat, so that we could spend a full day diving without having to rush between shops/boats. I received an email confirming our morning boat and asking about gear rentals about 4 days before the boat. I replied to confirm that we ordered nitrox tanks (and that some of us dive DIN) and also to confirm that we were on the afternoon boat as well. No email response, but the next day or so I called the shop to confirm our trip and gear (per their policy) and I was told that we were confirmed. The day of our dives rolls around, we check in at the shop in the morning, get on the boat, do our morning dives, come back, and then ask the crew how they want us to handle gear since we're also on the afternoon boat. The crew then informed us that they didn't have an afternoon boat scheduled. To their credit, the crew did call the owner to ask, and it turned out that the afternoon boat wasn't going out because of a lack of signups. I'd like to point out that 1) I confirmed we were going out 3 days before via phone 2) The shop has both my personal phone and email address and could easily have reached out to me before the day of the dives and 3) They also could even have told us this, oh, I don't know, when we actually checked in that morning. But no, nothing until we were actually trying to get on the afternoon boat. Lack of communication, again: We asked for nitrox tanks, and when we checked in the morning of the trip, we were casually told that their (only?!) nitrox analyzer was broken so that they "just gave us air instead." I own a nitrox analyzer and would totally have brought it along but I guess I made a stupid assumption that a shop that offers nitrox would also have at least one working nitrox analyzer. Really, the issue here was how laissez-faire they were about not being able to deliver what was promised. There wasn't a single word of apology, just a statement that oh, sucks to be you, you don't get what you ordered and confirmed. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the crew was excellent and the captain went out of his way to try to book us, last-minute, on an afternoon boat at another shop. We ended up declining because we really didn't want to rush to Miami Beach during spring break to visit the exact same dive sites twice in one day, but I really do appreciate him going above and beyond for us. It's a shame that the operation they work for is managed so poorly, because the captain and crew were great. I absolutely can not recommend this place. There are other boats within a 20-30 minute drive that are far, far better. Do yourself a favor, go anywhere else. read more

Solo diver Christmas week. Wanted to get in some diving and arranged to have a shop buddy. Everything about my experience with Divers Paradise was top notch. I emailed in advance to ask about the possibility of being assigned a buddy. Easily booked my dives online. Our dive departure time shifted an hour and they made sure to both email and call to ensure I got the message. Location is easy to get to from Miami Beach. Check in very organized. Pre dive safety meeting professional. Boat is nice and well staffed. Elana, my guide, was great and very helpful getting me acclimated to some new equipment. I have been a solo traveling diver many times and having the option of an instructor as a buddy was very nice. All in - Divers Paradise did a nice job and I am happy to give a positive recommendation. read more

My wife and I just got PADI certified at Divers Paradise and chose them based on three things: their great Yelp! reviews, word of mouth and their prices! They are slightly more affordable than all the other places we called, and seeing as how we live in Brickell, and they're in Key Biscayne, it was a less than 10 minute drive! Pros: Convenience. They were so close to home! Friendly, our instructor Omar JR was patient and helpful. He walked us through the entire certification process in a relaxed atmosphere over three days, one pool dive and 4 ocean dives. I was pretty freaked out about getting certified since I've always had a fear of the ocean, but Omar was patient and made me feel at ease. Knowledge, Omar JR knew what he was talking about. Without being too strict or severe, he trained us in a very relaxed and fun environment. I'm not a huge fan of Key Biscayne as a scuba location (i prefer the Keys), but if we ever decide to go dive in Key Biscayne again we'll definitely use Divers Paradise. Its a small family operated business which we enjoyed! read more

Let's start with the good parts: they take snorkelers which worked well for my husband who does not dive to accompany me while I went diving. They had more snorkelers than divers on board so they went to places that worked well for both which was nice. They even stopped at a very shallow wreck for a last minute snorkel on the way back that had tons of fish and was beautiful! The boat captain was great and thorough and honestly made the whole trip. The reasons why I would not go with them again: I have done 35 dives and at this point own most of my own equipment so I know how to set it up. On this trip, I rented equipment and every other experience I've had with renting is that they set it all up for you. In this case they did not which would not have been that big of a deal for me since I know how to set it up but I made a small mistake and did not get the loop over the top of my oxygen tank during set up. The divemaster Eduardo came over to help me with my tank as I was having issues but when I pointed out that the loop was not over the top, he said, oh it's fine. First, it's my mistake because my instinct said it wasn't fine and I should have just taken it all apart and started over but since I'm somewhat new and it's his equipment I did not. So on my first dive, my tank floated out of my BCD - luckily I'm experienced enough to know how to deal with it but it could have been disastrous as my gauge started leaking and I had to physically hold my oxygen tank as I swam back to the boat. My other issue is that he did not do any kind of briefing or leading - he was teaching a student so he was focused on class while the other two divers - a stranger I was paired with and I were told to just "swim around the boat". My second mistake was not bringing my own computer because they don't have them for rent so I literally counted 180 seconds for my safety stop. I also did not have a signaling device and we weren't given one so we stuck really close to the boat in a very basic reef in order to not get lost since this was my first dive in this area and with someone who also did not know the reef. In conclusion, if you are very experienced and comfortable, use your own equipment and don't expect a super exciting dive, you will have a good time. If you are a newer, more unsure diver, I would not recommend them at all as it will not help alleviate any fears and you could get just left on your own. read more

My wife had been scuba diving prior and wanted to get me into it. This was my first experience and being from Indiana my experience with the ocean has been 20 feet past shoreline and the cliche of 'Jaws' and 'Shark Week', so I was a little apprehensive. We met Shaun who has a long history of being an instructor and was always with us to make sure we were comfortable with the next process. I was a bit nervous when first getting in the pool which was quickly overcome with confidence and reassurance provided by Shaun. We went on 2 open water dives and are excited to go on more. Next step will be to get a few more open water dives to be certified! Highly recommend this group of professionals! read more

We flew in Saturday and booked our dive for Sunday. They called Saturday to ask where we were, because they had misunderstood and scheduled us for Saturday. We told them to book us for Sunday but they were already fully booked. We had to go somewhere else for a dive, which was inconvenient. The shop needs some work. The gear you would consider buying looks used or old. The staff is friendly and informative. They gave me some great dive sites. Overall, I might come back to dive. read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE NEW TO DIVING! This place is not the right location for beginners. The classes are overbooked for the size of the pool which means that each person learning only gets once chance to practice each new drill and if you didn't get it quite perfect, well I hope you get it in the ocean after lunch. Also, my instructor Olga was completely unprofessional! Out in the ocean I was clearly unsettled and struggling to remain calm before the descent. Her 'genius' idea was to swim over to me and proceed to deflate my BCD on the count of three without waiting for me to confirm I was ready. I began to sink and was terrified. I went into a full blown panic attack and could not dive. I spent the rest of the day on the boat. The experience was so awful and I said I could not come back the next day. I was given a patronizing answer about how they've been booked for weeks and there would be absolutely no refund given. I was humiliated, mortified, and deeply angered. Not only was my experience written off as 'happens to a lot of people, try again tomorrow' but when I staunchly said that I would not be able to do it at all I was given none of my money back even though I did not complete any successful dives due to the complete unprofessional behavior of my instructor. I cannot say enough how AWFUL this place is. There are so many options. GO ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

If you are looking to get PADI certified, the guys at Divers Paradise are very knowledgeable and patient. The Hubbs and I just got certified and we came here, close to Miami, to do our first "pro" dive. The crew is nice, the equipment good and the water perfect. We did two tanks starting at 8:00am. Omar Sr and Omar Jr run the operation. The place is not super fancy which we like. They have everything you need at the center and they are very friendly. Cost $110+tax per person for all equipment and two dives in 4 hrs. We think we saw a baby shark ;) We will be back! read more

I did a two tank dive here with my husband and father-in-law. My husband was doing his last two open water dives for his certification, and his instructor was very thorough and patient. Our first dive was at a ship wreck and the second was at a reef. Both dives were great for beginners, but my father-in-law thought their prices were on the high side ($100 including equipment rental, $200 for students getting their certifications). The staff was friendly and overall it was a great experience. FYI, they require you to carry your rental equipment (including the tanks) down to the boat yourselves... and if you're getting your certification you should bring two passport photos with you. read more

Found Divers Paradise during a last minute search for an interesting dive. Arrived, executed the normal paperwork and headed out to the boat. Capt. and deckhand loaded, set-up gear and stowed as needed. Wife and I performed the two dives we sought. Very comfortable and fun experience. They didn't try to make us rent equipment we knew we wouln't need (like 5mm wetsuits!) as other LDS' had. I'll go to these guys again! read more

I live locally in Miami and go diving 1-2 times a month. Depending what I'm in the mood for I select different boats. When I'm diving in Miami (as opposed to Key Largo or Jupiter), I choose Paradise. They are everything you would expect from a top notch boat, very courteous and professional. They understand what days a are good and will always take you to the best spot. Paradise Divers has always been on my "A" list and I recommend them often. It's a well run operation. And I'm probably pickier than the average Joe, there are a lot of boats I won't go back to for a myriad of reasons as after diving for 25 years you realize that a lousy crew leads to trouble and hassle, and I'm too old for that. The Paradise crew and captain are top notch, the boats are in great shape and roomy. They are also located in Crandon Park which has a few other advantages: Ample free parking, very easy to get to from downtown, and they are the closest to most of the good dive sites in Miami so you will have not only the shortest boat ride but more flexibility to do another site if conditions at the first site aren't great. They service all the popular dive sites that are about 3-4 miles off the coast which includes reefs, wrecks and the Neptune underwater graveyard. If you haven't done the Neptune, it's a really easy dive and well worth it as there great underwater structures you won't see anywhere else. All the dive boats are about the same price in Miami so shopping around for price is not worth your time. read more

my dive club goes out with Divers Paradise on a regular basis---easy to get to from anywhere in the Miami area, good boat, good captains and dive masters. They took us out when it was pouring rain but we still had a great time. The first dive was a deep wreck and then on to Emerald Reef for the second dive. Amazing day despite the weather and I was home in 20 minutes! Great operation. Love their new dive shop, pool and facilities. Sure beats the trailers they used to work out of. read more
