Daniel reinforced the weak areas, and now the gate opens and closes perfectly and is much stronger than it was when it was brand new. I gave him a deposit after a couple meetings and then proceeded to wait over 2 months for him to show any progress. Once he finally came with the gate, it was not painted nor did it have any cutouts for the lock / handle. A few weeks later is when the lock and handle were installed and the gate was painted. As of today (6 months later), I still am missing the welded part needed for the deadbolt lock cover and he missed painting the whole top portion of one side of the gate. I have now asked multiple times for him to finish and said he would come, but did not come the day he told me he would. We also still have overspray on our composite wood that he said he would clean up. Marco's work is really good quality and built to last, but no gate should take over 6 months to build. The fact that I have to chase him down to work on the gate is concerning. At this point, I don't think I'd hire him or refer him to do any work as it won't get completed in a timely fashion.

I've had at least two others come by, one of them hasn't given me a quote, the other had followed up and I did receive a quote from them. I can't say the same for this guy, he just left me on read and never bothered to follow up. I'm not going to go out my way to pay someone and give them an opportunity because it's not my job to go after people and to follow up. Also if you're more "value orientated" like me, he has a $550 a day minimum so keep that in mind. It could be that my job didn't hit this so he couldn't of bothered, but I am just speculating. The process to find a reliable contractor is a quasi part time itself. All of them are situational and with that being said, it's a huge YMMV based off when you need or want them and if they will even bother to entertain you because they just don't care enough to follow up if its a bad time (Which you'll never know). There's a happy ending to this story though, one of the people did get back to me and I just need to figure out how to schedule him when we figure out how we're going to get things done. This is all the time and effort I will put into this.

We are doing some big renovations at our house and it is all staring with a custom drip pan for our washer and dryer. We needed it pretty quickly and they turned it around in 24 hours. The communication was outstanding and we checked in with each other to make sure the design/measurements were perfect. And I mean their measurements were EXACT!!! Did I mention that they even delivered the drip pan to us! - We don't live far from the shop, though they told me not to worry and they would bring it to the house - who does that? What shop would do that? - THIS SHOP DID!!! :-) We are going to be working with them to do more in the very near future.
