This is a very good, neighborhood, Italian restaurant with really well made fresh food and great service. The first time we went was on the recommendation of a friend. When we returned two weeks later (!) the waiter remembered us, and what we ordered. It must've been from the fact that we got into a whole conversation about how delicious, fresh, and flavor balanced I thought the salad was at the meal :). Go. It'll make you feel good. Food is always excellent. Zuppa di Pesce and the pasta special had a ton of delicious and savory flavor. We also had the fried calamari which is lightly breaded and was paired with some sweet sauce. I have no idea how I haven't been here considering I passed it so many times. This review is a conglomerate of times I have visited. It's in a shopping center plaza on a main road. Its a great date night spot with white table cloths and Italian paintings. It's very old school Italian and the owner is a gem. Mario is extremely personable and truly cares about providing his customers the highest quality ingredients. I spent a long time talking to him during one of my visits. The business has been around for over 25 years! Obviously he is doing something right! Everything I had here was delicious. It is also all made to order, which is incredibly rare in todays world. My personal favorite was the shrimp appetizer. I think I could have honestly licked the plate. The fresh mozzarella appetizer is also chefs kiss. It's also made daily in house. Also not pictured is seafood pasta with a slightly spicy marinara. The desserts are also excellent quality. The pumpkin cheesecake is made daily and Mario takes great pride in. A shot of espresso with hazelnut biscotti ends the dinner perfectly. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. It's exceptionally clean as well. If you are looking for a good date night spot and want actual Italian food with premium ingredients- you have to come to Divina. 10/10 read more

Mario and his staff are top notch! I've had the veal with mushrooms, linguini and white clam sauce, veal with eggplant, mozzarella and tomato all delish. My boss swears the osso bucco is the best he has ever had. My friend had the pasta primavera which she loved. I can go on and on. There is a reason Mario has been in business for a long time. Another great meal tonight, Father's Day. Staff is a joy, small and humble place. Everything made to order (always a plus ). I posted pictures with little or zero screen maneuvering because all the food looks great as is, completely fresh and made just for you. The only item I didn't get a picture of (my father and I started eating to fast) was the Chicken Arrabbiata (in a vinegar with hot pepper reduction) on the bone... Every dish was 100% fork tender (no knife necessary). The homemade Mozzarella appetizer was absurd (Mozzarella was crazy fresh and creamy). Oh apparently I inhaled my Raviolis stuffed with crab meat and some herbs as well (can't find photo). Rav's were outstanding (I got a huge plate of raviolis as an appetizer so I had to share) definitely fresh pasta, unsure if house made. The fresh Pistachio cake (tasted like a flourless cake) topped with powdered sugar was light and crispy on outside and warm and fluffy inside. This is a BYO and a OMG I'm so full and happy. Went here for a birthday party for my sister in law and she has raved about this place for some time. She is 100% correct - this was such a nice treat. From the appetizers to the salads to the main course to dessert - spot on. Going back for Mothers Day and I cannot wait. Right out of the box, I have to say that EVERYTHING we ordered was excellent. Arugula, Radicchio, and Fennel Salad was perfectly dressed with some shaved pieces of Parmesan. The first thing our waiter said to us is that we are very busy tonight. Menus on table immediately, in a very, very short time, we are asked if we are ready to order. We were not. WE order, appetizers out quickly, not a bad thing, but before I finished my salad, our entrees came out. Before we had a chance to take a breath after finishing our entrees, the table was cleaned and we are given desert menus. One of our party finally went to the hostess and said this has got to stop. It did, and for the final 30 minutes we ordered desert, coffees, etc. and breathed normally. WE did not over stay, in at 6 and out at 8. Spending $370 for a party of 6. The cost is not a complaint, the great food is worth it. Back to the positives! The flourless chocolate cake is a chocoholics dream, the cannoli was one of the best anywhere. I phoned an order in for pickup. When picking up while I was paying I was told that they didn't have enough bread for the 3rd sandwich and gave me a smaller loaf of bread and put the chicken parm into a container. I only discovered this when picking the order up with guests at my home. I was not called and appraised of this or given the opportunity to possibly order something else before, and absolutely no concessions were made or offered. Very disappointing. read more

Recommended to us by a local police officer, so we didn't do our usual online research before we arrived. This place is on the small side, so we were definitely lucky to get a table without a reservation...even on a Wednesday evening. Fabulous mix of tasty-looking plates arrived at tables all around us, so we knew we were in for a treat. And when the table was graced with a lusciously toasty loaf of firm-crusted bread AND a self-serve cauldron of cheese...well, our hopes rose even higher. We opted for tried-and-true mainstays of Italian (lasagna and minestrone for me, tortellini alla Bolognese and another soup for him). Flavors and textures were wonderful all the way around: the only problem with this great restaurant is they aren't located nearer our home. Since we were on the road, we did not use the BYOB option to augment our meal with wine. We also had to skip dessert and espresso due to timing, but saw other diners with sweet treats I long to try on our next visit. (On a personal note, I loved how this restaurant was table after table of conversation -- not the blue glare of smart screens while people ignore each other. Crowd was a bit older, but the diners were definitely fully engaged in a great meal with great company.) read more

I have to say, I was very disappointed as we had a party of seven to celebrate a birthday. It started off poorly with a hard dry bread and the calamari was soft texture wise. Mediocre at best. Dinner came, and all the entrées were being placed in front of the wrong people. Also, two pasta dishes were very lean portion wise. Cheesecake was average at best and one dessert was forgotten. We had to remind the staff. AWFUL amount of $$$ dropped for a very average dinner. Hard to convince me to go back! read more

Second Time I've dined here last one being several years ago but the results were about the same very good enjoyable but missing out on greatness. Arrived to a packed house 7:30 PM reservation and with many BYOB's in NJ ambiance is not the center piece of dining, the food is. Brought some good wine which was promptly opened and 2 sets of wine glasses provided for 2 different bottles nice touch. Bread was "NICOLA's of Montclair hot crusty and fresh so you can't go wrong, though the pads of foil butter and no offer of dipping oil etc detract from what could have been an outstanding start. APPETIZERS: Shrimp $14.95 with white wine, hot pepper & garlic plentiful amount of tasty shrimp clean cooked properly. Not much spice and could have used a bit more sauce but a really good start. Two on special Octopus fra Diablo appetizers $14.95 were a bit on the small side fresh and tasty, spicy marinara was just not hot enough for my taste and a bit thin. Arugula, Radicchio & Fennel Salad with shaved parmigiano cheese............. $11.95 was fine if not slightly expensive for size of dish vs price points. Penne Alla Zingara (Hot) $18.95 with pancetta, onions & hot peppers really good though again I couldn't taste the spice needed to make this a over the top dish while the pasta was slightly over cooked. Chicken Marengo $22.95 with red wine vinegar and garlic on the bone couple of small pieces of chicken with a nice sauce, though for amount of chicken provided and type of chicken legs and thigh pieces this was a disappointment. Zuppa Di Pesce Marechiara $30.95 red sauce, with scallops, shrimp, calamari best dish on the table if not pricey. Linguini with scallops & broccoli............$26.95 found the scallops overcooked and broccoli undercooked.. SMH on this one. Flourless Chocolate Cake for desert and hot coffee and espresso were excellent. Service was good. Just missing that extra kick to separate it from the pack of BYOB's in NJ but certainly an enjoyable meal. read more

Gravy was average but not salty as some other places. Nice, cozy, small place. If you ask for a soda or a sparkling water , they will give you an unopened can.
