Angeloni's calls themselves home of the famous "thinny thin," they're not kidding. If you're a fan of ultra-thin, crispy pizza, this is definitely the spot. The interior is nicely decorated with a cozy Italian vibe that makes it a great place to sit back and enjoy a few pies. If you follow Barstool, you might remember that Portnoy gave this place an 8.8 -- and it's well deserved. I can personally attest to that score. We started with a plain pizza, just like Portnoy did, and he absolutely nailed it. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, with great flavor and not greasy at all. Next up was the Easy on the Pizzi -- vodka sauce base, crispy cup pepperoni, mozzarella, fresh burrata, basil, and a drizzle of Mike's Hot Honey. The combination of rich, savory, and slightly sweet flavors worked perfectly together. We also tried The Nicky Newarker, topped with thinly sliced sausage and onions on that signature thinny-thin crust. Another great choice. The pictures really don't do these pizzas justice, though they'll definitely make your mouth water. Our server was fantastic -- friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. Came here for quick dinner while in the area... busy evening even for a Sunday...heard that it's popular. Municipal parking lot is across the street. Wow rated 8.8 by Dave Portnoy Barstool Pizza. Thinny Thin pizza is the most popular here.. and really really thin. Friendly staff and service. Big variety on the menu to select from - so something for even the pickiest of eaters. Appetizers and main dishes. Complimentary garlic knots and bread while you await your food. There are specials as well. This restaurant is BYOB! Had the avocados salad to share... that was a lot of avocado... A bit too much on the lemon juice. Pizza: 1/2 thinny thin and 1/2 mushroom -- hmm. The thinny thin was definitely thin. The regular pie was solid; the "Easy On The Pizzi" - with vodka sauce, pepperoni cups, fresh mozz, basil and hot honey drizzle was the hit! Both pies have no crust at the ends - the cheese goes all the way to the end - creates a nice crisp. Service was friendly and on point. Give 'em a try! read more

4.5 stars Came here for the first time tonight. The place was packed on a Thursday night, with many people ordering take out also. We ordered the Thinny Thin pizza, chicken pastina soup, and tossed salad for two. Everything was delicious. I really like the crust of the pizza. Not totally sure about the pizza sauce. The salad and soup were excellent. Service was ok. Need to ask for refills on our soda. They sang happy birthday with a loud banging drum. That was cool. 10/23/2025 I passed by a billboard on R46 advertising Angeloni's pizza and the picture of the pie looked pretty good, along with the 'thinny thin' slogan. For my wife and I, thinny thin pie is our favorite, so I said we need to try Angeloni's one day soon. That was about 10 days ago. Yes, you have to love 'thinny thin' pizza and we do. So thin and tasty. We also had the mussels fra diavlo. My wife is still talking about how these were the best we've ever had... hours later. Oh... the Avocado caprese salad is really quite excellent. Never had an avocado served like this before. Service was prompt and excellent... and it's a BYO (our favorite) so I know we'll be back again... soon! read more

This was I really wasn't blown away by the pizza at all, I will say it was enjoyable just not as good as I was expecting. As far as ambiance goes I only saw half of the restaurant because I picked up so I didn't see how big the main dining area is. The service was okay, I was a little annoyed because I was hungry and these kids were moving very slow just chatting but nobody was rude or ignoring me so that's why I think it wasn't bad service overall. If this restaurant is close by so less than 20 minutes I say give it a try but if it's longer i would say no unless there are no good spots by you. read more

Thought it would be a nice Father's day dinner, but as soon as you walk into the restaurant, you're hit with pure chaos, no one knows what they're doing or their job responsibility and it seems like everyone is just running around. We made a reservation for 7:00 PM by phone, and the gentleman who answered took our name and confirmed that we were all set. We arrived 10 minutes early, only to be told by the woman at the front that there was no reservation under our name. After confirming we had called the correct phone number, she asked what time we called. When we said around 5:00 PM, she informed us that they don't take reservations after 3:00 PM. The problem is that this was never mentioned during our phone call. Instead of telling us they couldn't accept a reservation, they led us to believe everything was confirmed. To make matters worse, they refused to accommodate us and told us the wait would be about an hour. We left, and what was supposed to be a nice evening was completely ruined. Poor communication and no accountability. If reservations aren't accepted after 3:00 PM, customers should be told that when they call--not after they've driven there expecting a table. read more

We drove from Philly to eat here today. And I am already planning a trip back. The Thinny Thin pizza is amazing there is nothing close to this in or around our city. NIck and Mike made a point to come to our table say hello and treat us like family. I can only imagine how the locals feel while eating here. Anthony recommended the calamari it was so fresh and tender one of my favorites. I could have tried every one of the appetizers they had on the menu. So my fiance excitedly called me into the room to show me some videos posted by a Caldwell pizza place that makes a pie they call the thinny thin. It looked great! Exactly my kind of pizza. So tonight we drove 35 minutes down the parkway and rt46 and made it to Angeloni's. Place was packed and the decor was appealing for a pizza place. We ordered 2 thinny thins, one plain and one pepperoni to go. Now there was no way I was waiting 35 minutes to eat that pie. So the second we got in the car we busted it open. But we did not get the crispy pie we saw on the videos and read in the description. The pie WE got.was indeed thin, but it was floppy, flacid and sad looking with no crisp in sight. (See the pictures). I was devastated! 20 miles, 36 min and $43 on 2 pies that I could have gotten literally anywhere. Even Dominos thin crust has more crisp than this. This thing looked like it could have cooked another 6 or 7 minutes. Rhe sauce was very good and the ingredients tasted fresh. The crust itself was crispy, but only at the very very outer edge. I ate the slices to the crust in one bite. It just folded and flopped into my mouth. I don't know if this was a fluke, but if you're making social media videos that will make people drive a long distance to try your food...you need to be consistent with your product. I am beyond disappointed as I was really looking forward to something great that fell very short of expectations. Also...I really needed paper plates...and upon asking for them, I was told "I don't know where they are". Hmm...well, you could maybe ask someone who DOES know?? Just a suggestion. I have been a customer of Angelione's for years. I moved to S.C. a few years ago but visit NJ often. I always visit Angelione's and have introduced family and friends. I'm a bit of a pizza snob, have done the Wooster Street favorites in New Haven CT., Santillo's Elizabeth NJ, DeLucia's Raritan, Joe's on Staten Island, many NYC John's on Bleeker and more, the usual suspects in Jersey....Star Tavern, Kinchley's and many others.... I arrived @ Angelione's fairly early, 5:30 on a Weds evening, waited patiently by sign "wait to be seated" When I was, I was placed at the seat near entrance way, everybody in or out and staff would walk within inches of my food. I politely asked if I could sit inside and response was rudely " I gotta put you here" I put my BYOB on the table and proceeded to men's room in back. The main dining room was maybe 25/30 % capacity. Several 2 tops open and at least 5/6 4 tops free. I ordered an appetizer, on menu $16.95, and as expected it was good. When bill came I was charged $20.95 for appetizer. The Thinny Thin pizza which I came for was undercooked, middle of pie was soft , not hot or crisp as advertised. I'll not go back.... Mostly because of seating and attitude. read more

Food is excellent. We have Veronica as our waitress and she was spectacular. Ambience is very nice little loud but very comfortable. When you do decide to go there ask for Veronica and wait for her because she unbelievable so attentive and so caring that she made sure we had everything that we needed and constantly checked on us to make sure we were OK so always request Veronica. Thinny thin was pretty solid. I think slightly better than the Columbia Inn in Montville for the best super thin crust in the area. Great garlic knots in the bread bowl. As much as I wanted to love this place which I've been here many times for the amazing pizza, I left disappointed. I'm saying this as someone who also owns a business and genuinely wants to give constructive feedback. The biggest issue was staffing There were only two waitresses handling over 11 tables which is unfair to both the employees and the customers. I hope they are getting paid decently. The waitresses themselves were polite but they were clearly overwhelmed and you could see the stress in their faces and they were speed walking everywhere At one point a couple seated near us waited so long (15 minutes) that the man asked his girlfriend if he should just go up front himself to ask for water and you can tell it killed there date so far. he ended up having to do exactly that then in a rushing matter had both waitress bombard them and they looked so stressed the costumers. Another issue was professionalism the restaurant has a classy atmosphere with nice lighting and a slightly romantic vibe so it was shocking to see a waitress working in extremely tight black short shorts that were completely inappropriate for the setting. Honestly made the place feel distasteful especially for families or couples trying to enjoy a nice dinner together which this is the type of spot you want to go to.. Shorts should be at least somewhat on the legs, Not just Cuppin the toush, there was nothing on her legs of material. There is absolutely no reason employees need to wear booty shorts to serve tables. Not even diners have workers allow shorts like this. The place itself has potential but management seriously needs to improve staffing and presentation because it takes away from the overall experience for everyone even the workers. read more

I wanted to like this place. I'd been here a few years ago and hoped it was better than first experience. Ok, the good. The penne with vodka sauce (hold the peas and pancetta) was some of the best we ever had. Delicious. The skinny pizza had a funny taste. We weren't sure if it was the sauce or cheese. Sort of sour or something. We told the waitress and she just looked at us blankly and said "sorry". Which brings us to the service...first we had Julia who was supposedly new. Then a guy. Then she came back. We told her 3 times that we wanted the pizza first, then when we were done eating pizza, the pasta. We stressed we DIDN'T WANT BOTH at the same time. Julia nodded and sorta looked blank, that's when we firmly repeated do not serve together. She said pizza takes a while to cook, so we asked then should we do pasta first. Again the deer in headlight look, so we said fine. Pasta, then pizza. New or not, very simple instructions. Guess what?? They came out together!! So upsetting and ridiculous! Then asked for the 2 slices each to be in a very small box. Stressed small. She brings 2 fairly large pizza boxes for our 2 tiny pieces of pizza. We asked her to bring bag and put the little slices between 2 paper plates. She brought out and when I opened bag at home there was no top plate covering/protecting the pizza. Need to replace Julia or let her bus tables for sure. To end on one other positive note, the garlic knots were delish and a nice addition to bread basket. read more

Was really a 3.5 but the pricing puts it down instead of up. Family lives for pizza. We drive hours for pies. Never made it here but finally in the area so stopped by. The people are very nice and on a Sunday it was mobbed. The thinny thin is almost too thin. We love bar pies but it made Nancy's in Rahway seem like a deep dish. The easy on the pissi or something like that was very tasty. It's just the prices are outrageous for what you get. And again we go to all the top Jersey places and this one is honestly so much more expensive. It's cooked how we like, well done. It's just misses on a few fronts. Without a question, new favorite pizza spot. Surprisingly loved the thin, no crust, well done plain pie. It wasn't super oily like a typical pizza would be, the sauce was perfect with a bit of sweetness to it (but in a complimentary way). You can easily eat 4 slices alone because of how thin they are. I haven't come by good garlic knots in a while and these were it. $2 for 3 of them. They were covered in real garlic, a bit crispy on the outside in the best way, soft on the inside. Honestly it's really hard to eat out and not spend a lot of money and for two of us, it was under $20. Will definitely be back to try other items. read more

After Michael's in Nutley closed I've been searching for that perfect Thinny Thin pie and Angeloni's is a close as it gets, if not the perfect clone! But just don't settle for the thinny thin, experiment with some of their specials. The curled pepperoni with dabs of ricotta and hot honey was delightful but yeah, the real star is that thinny thin pie. The interior is just what you'd expect from a north Jersey pizza joint...fake bricks all over, even on the ceiling with fake frescoes and faded pics of your favorite past Italian personalities. The fun thing here is that you can hear the staff politely yelling at each other in the kitchen. Fun! read more

I went to Angeloni's when I went back to my hometown. No more Joe's Pizza and the Pizza and Sandwich Barn was being renovated. Not sure if P&SB was all that great back in the day, but I was going to give it a try. Franco's is still there and still quite greasy as I remembered it being back in the day. I heard this was the place for good pizza in the area after following Dave Portnoy and his Bar Stool Sports recommendations, and this is a bit off from his higher score for me. Now, don't get me wrong, it was pretty good, but the day before, I tried one in Nutley, and it was amazing in comparison. Angeloni's was, however, much better than the highly touted thin-crust pizza joint in West Orange. We tried the thiny thin, and unfortunately, its crust wasn't as crispy as I was expecting and kind of floppy. When I picked it up, I made certain to get a bite as soon as I got to the car. I got it immediately when it was ready, even had to wait a bit after the time it was supposed to be ready, which was not an issue even though the place wasn't that busy. Good flavor of the toppings, I got half cheese and half sausage, mushroom, and onion. The restaurant seemed like a nice place where you can take your family, saw a huge family leaving when I was entering, or even a nice place on a date night. Great lighting and surprising size inside the old Progress newspaper building. The staff was marginally nice but seemed somewhat disconnected; therefore, it felt they were unappreciative of my choice to get food from this restaurant. However, it's Jersey, where I'm used to getting "yeah, what do you want" from many food service people. The place wasn't too busy but maybe it was for a Sunday night. It wasn't busy enough to have the staff at the front be what felt a little snooty. The restaurant smelled great, and I'm betting the other food would be amazing. I'll likely give it another try when I go back in town and will update my 3-star ranking, as necessary. Good, not great. read more

The Hotsy Totsy Shrimp was awesome! The marinara was very good. The pizza was good bar pie, a little too greasy for me but was good bar pie. Reminds me of Pete and Elda's from down the shore. The marinara makes me want to come back and try the chicken parm and some other pastas. So will come back for a second try. read more
