No, not hardly. The restaurant is very old school, having been around for decades. It's basically a meat n threes or twos if you're less hungry. The food is just fine, if a bit underseasoned. That's understandable given the average age of the customers. Nothing that a little salt and hot sauce won't fix. I can't speak to the burgers or the 'cue but the onion rings looked terrific. I was in town for work and our client brought in lunch from here every day. Bbq sandwiches one day, grilled chicken sandwich another and huge burgers the third. For take out they do a really smart thing. They give you the bun in a bag, meat packaged By itself with the fixins and condiments on the side. This kept the food from getting soggy. The burger was put together but since it was wrapped in foil without condiments it was very fresh too. If I every travel through and get a chance to stop in I will take it. We stopped in town after hiking and exploring Russell Cave National Monument and found this Dixie Freeze. Reviews seemed promising so we ordered a Southwest Burger and tater tots. The burger was absolutely delicious with fresh toppings of lettuce and tomato and a nice sweet bbq sauce that brought it all together in a sweet and savory combination. The burger patty was hand formed and a good size. The tater tots came out fresh and hot and a really good heavy portion. We enjoyed the burger and it lived up to reputation. I stopped into this jewel of a diner for a quick bite and was blown away by the speediness of the service. When the burger and onion rings came, I was truly impressed with the size and quantity of the Dagwood Special. It's a double cheeseburger with bacon and a piece of toast between the two patties.
