Our volunteer tour guide fabulously navigated us through the French Quarter, and despite the rain, shared great info on the particulars of Creole cottages and other structures. The guided tour was about 1.5 hours and ended at Antoine's for brunch. Brunch for the tour was in one of the back rooms at a community table for about 16 people. In short, we were away from the live music, it was a fixed menu for everyone, and (get this!!!) coffee was not offered. At BRUNCH, really??? Quite unbelievable, but yes, we requested it twice (before the meal) and the server never brought it, even when dessert was served. Would have gladly purchased it at their cash bar had it been available. We left Antoine's early in search of a great cup of coffee which we found at Brennen's, yay! French-pressed, it was awesome. Aside from this, the food at Antoine's was very good - I'll do a separate Yelp review on the food. Fortunately our Spring Fiesta day ended on a high note with the Home and Courtyard tour of five homes. Though self-guided, the tour was well-organized; a few of the owners were at home to host the tour. Again, we learned fascinating tidbits about each of the homes. Bottom line, if I had to do this over again, I would have purchased the tours alacarte, and would have made my own reservations at Antoine's, apart from the Spring Fiesta, for 1) a table in one of the front rooms with live music; 2) the opportunity to choose from a menu; and 3) a better chance at a cup of coffee to accompany our brunch, lol. Spring Fiesta is sponsored by a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the cultural preservation of the area.

Being from Phoenix we have a small historic heritage and very much love old homes. We thought the courtyards were amazing and beautiful. We learned a few things and visited one home of a realtor that had an amazing balcony and so many windows and natural light in the main living area we totally got the whole city living idea. We only got to see 5 homes on the self guided tour and many of the homes had the upstairs blocked off , or more than half of the properties living quarters closed to the tour. I can understand that, I had a home on tour in Phoenix and its ALOT of work to clean and put away valuable and have your home staffed. The other disappointing factor was how little period character the interior of the homes still had intact. The crown moldings were all there and detailed doors, but we were just expecting more of this historic tour. The city has done a great job enforcing the exteriors to remain period, but interiors of the homes have been altered so much much of the character and charm is long gone.I know its not a museum but a home. Thank you homeowners for allowing us into your abodes. We see how you bring the outside courtyards as an extension to your living area. You can tell she has tremendous passion for music/jazz. Our small group met at Louis Armstrong Park which was a great starting point. From there we were given a nice broad history of the city, history, and evolution with a focus on music and the pioneers of jazz. From there we walked through the French Quarter with Frenchmen St. as the final destination. Sayge was great, so much so I tipped her over 20%. But my only feedback of the tour is that for 3 hours, and only 2 music stops...fell short of what most of the group had expected (I know as several of us stayed on after the tour to venue-hop and share reflections). Perhaps the tour description needs to be revisited but I guess most of us assumed that the city overview/history lessons would be happening as we were at different venues. The host, Carolyn, was super fun and knowledgeable. You can tell she really put a lot of research into knowing important facts about the city.
