The extra stars is that this year he was able to help us out with sound equipment when San Jose AV Rentals did not show up even though we had secured a reservation a month plus ahead. He came by the night before event last minute with the equipment and was flexible of staying at the event later than originally expected because of the extra sound equipment he supplied. If I could give DJ Curtis 100 stars I would!! I recently hired him for the third time, for my child's bar mitzvah. He is such a positive and happy person, and it shines through in everything he does. He is quick to respond to emails and does a great job incorporating all of your requests while knowing what is going to entertain your guests and get people dancing. We had a large group of kids to entertain, and if you know anything about teenagers, they are not an easy crowd to please! The games were super fun, the kids loved the prizes, and everyone was engaged in the activities. His assistants were also fabulous with the guests and radiated Curtis' same kindness, energy, and upbeat attitude. Everyone loved him, including the adults! Rave reviews all the way around! He has uplights available, which add a fun decor touch to the event. We also used his photo booth and got access to all the images with a quick turnaround time after the event. If I could give DJ Curtis 10 stars, I absolutely would. He is a must-have for any event and there are not enough words to express how impressed and grateful we are for his services. We hired DJ Curtis for our wedding in March and he was one of the the best decisions we made. We met up with him 2 weeks prior to go over all the details and he was on top of everything. He was prepared for our meeting and was able to answer any questions we had as well as provide his own questions to ensure the day ran smoothly. Fast forward to our big day, DJ Curtis arrived early and was able to adjust and remain flexible for our ceremony (it rained, so we had to move the ceremony site last minute). We had zero mishaps during the ceremony in terms of music, mics, DJ set up, etc. Everything went flawlessly. Next came the reception, and that's when DJ Curtis really turned up the heat. His music selection was exactly what we were looking for. We had asked for a mix of country / love songs / traditional wedding music during dinner and then wanted more upbeat / todays hits / party music for the dancing portion. My mother-in-law at one point turned to me and said "I have never been to a wedding where there was not one person sitting down" and that was all thanks to DJ Curtis. He got everyone up on their feet and for that I am forever grateful. The party continued throughout the night and DJ Curtis was so interactive with our guests, they LOVED him! Not only did his music selection hit just right, he also brought "up-lights" for our reception space and we opted for the photo booth. I 100% recommend getting the photo booth! Our guests had an absolute blast and it was a fun activity for everyone throughout the night. It was super easy to use and the guests received an immediate copy to their phones as well as a hard copy to keep. DJ Curtis is our family favorite DJ. We just had the opportunity to have him back again for my husband's 60th birthday celebration. He also did my daughters graduation party back in 2017 and my husband's 50th in 2014! DJ Curtis is supportive during booking, efficient and replies immediately and personally. I don't even know what to say about DJ Curtis outside of- if you're looking for the DJ who's going to make your event fun beyond compare, you don't need to look any further. It's my belief that a DJ makes or breaks your party, and going in to my wedding, I was worried that nobody would want to dance. My wedding was small (45 people), and made up of mostly family members. So my wife and I live in GA and we were looking for DJ's. Very hard because we could not meet up. We literally searched 100's of DJs looking for someone that was a mix between fun and professional. After looking at Curtis's pictures you can see he knows how to fave fun. The only bad thing I could think of? My wife visited CA about a month and a half before the wedding to get things settled. She set up an appointment to meet Curtis but when she arrived at his house he didn't answer the door or his phone. She ended up leaving and got a call back from him a little later. They ended up meeting about an hour after they were supposed to. Long story short he said he had a gig the night before and had wrote the meeting date for a different day. I was somewhat upset and almost decided not to go with him just because of this, what if he writes my wedding in for the wrong date? But my wife said he had a good, outgoing personality and after talking to Curtis myself I could tell he would be the guy we want. I'm very happy we used DJ Curtis's services! We gave him different songs we wanted to hear, what we didn't want to hear, and asked him to fill in with different songs for the cocktail hour, dinner and reception. His choices were great and he took requests from guests and worked them in appropriately as well. For some reason people were being dull but Curtis did a good job of getting people motivated, and even called people hour, not in a disrespectful way, it made us all laugh. He also had some costumes and other props just to ad to the fun. Just to add to the whole package Curtis has got a great DJ voice. To me that is a good quality to have. When he made announcements and how he announced the wedding party was pretty awesome. Because we lived out of state he took time to sit down with us just days before the wedding to go over everything. He asked how we would like the wedding party to be announced. He had many suggestions and they were all great. Curtis is a pro with tons of experience and suggestions, all of which add to the fun. Great choice and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to have fun! This is a very belated review. DJ Curtis was the Monday night karaoke DJ at the Kings Head Pub back in the early aughts. This guy made it such a great time for everyone. Despite the obnoxious drunken mess my friends and I made of every hard rock song he had in his massive song catalog, he encouraged us to continue doing our thing. He has a bunch of props, great gear and brings out the life in the party. DJ Curtis was awesome! He provided the music, entertainment and sound system for a backyard engagement party for 100 people from 5PM to 11PM. The music was terrific- both background during dinner and dancing for the rest of the night. The party mood was enhanced with strobe lights, funny hats, and a mike for a few (not too many) karaoke songs. He did a great job of judging the mood of the crowd and selecting the right songs. He was willing to take suggestions and had a great song inventory. Working with him was super easy- he asked us ahead of time for songs we wanted played (or avoided), his crew showed up on time, and set up and take down were efficiently handled. Outside setup and a hot day were not a problem for them. He and his team were very flexible. On short notice they agreed to come an hour earlier, so that we would have a mike available for toasts. And they were willing to stop early or stay later depending on how the dancing was going. DJ Curtis is a super nice guy and a lot of fun. I can see why he came so well recommended by my friends.
