We absolutely loved working with DJ Mark. He was professional, and super friendly. At our first meeting we knew he would the the Dj at our wedding. He is so lively and outgoing. He gave us a rundown of what to expect, he asked what we liked and integrated it into our playlists. He also gave us the option of making our own playlist and so we had our guests write a song request on our rsvp cards and made a playlist through Spotify that Mark played at the beginning of our reception. He also provided us with a monogram, my husband and I designed it but his equipment made it look beautiful. We got our uplighting with him also and the whole room looked wonderful! Overall he did an amazing job keeping people dancing and playing a great variety of music both English and Spanish. He is super outgoing so his MCing was great. We would definitely hire him again! Let's begin by saying I'm a bit OCD...everything has its place and time, so to pull off a wedding ceremony and reception to my exact specifications is a challenge in itself! DJ Mark exceeded all expectations! But let's start from the beginning. I found DJ Mark here on Yelp! and called him immediately. He met my now wife and I at Starbucks to go over some specifics, but mainly to get to know each other and have an idea of our needs. I must admit, I was quite leery of Mark during our meeting, only because he was super nice and appeared to be over zealous of our new relationship. Turns out, I quickly learned that DJ Mark is a person we do not find much anymore in today's world, Mark is genuine, when he puts your phone # in his phone and tells you l, "You are now family.", he means it! From then on, my beautiful bride and I felt like we had known Mark for years. I won't go into the details of our wedding/reception, but as a once sound engineer for events, I was very particular on placement of songs, how each song should end or fade out, etc... DJ Mark hit every queue and never missed a beat. Also, what I liked about Mark, is that he does not try to use scare tactics that many other DJ's use to get your business, from "Plan B's" to "insured DJ's" and whatever else one might say to make you feel like they are the only choice, and that any other choice than them would be detrimental. Ok, going to wrap this up...no need to ramble on but I want to alleviate any doubts one might have when picking a DJ, more importantly picking DJ Mark. Let's start with the cons. There are none! Pro's... Genuine, he is there for you and your needs and is not about him at all, prompt (he was ready 2 hours before we could enter the hall), sets up quickly, very clean look with many effects he can provide, wide variety of music (including genres and ethnic music), professional attitude, outgoing, attention to detail, very flexible (played an ABBA song for my Dad immediately at his request), avoids requests with tact (that could possibly be a disaster), VERY clean sound, self sufficient, affordable, and most of all, humble. I say all of this because I am the biggest doubter when it comes to these reviews...but let me assure you that I never knew Mark until the day I called him and if I could sum up this whole review in one sentence it would be: "No need to continue looking for a DJ, DJ Mark is the right pick, you will not go wrong choosing him, I promise, as I will use him for all future events." I left a voicemail stating my interest and my email address and that I would like to receive information regarding availability and pricing. What did I receive? A text with a price. Really, thats it? As a business owner, I would think you would actually like to speak to a live person and get an idea of what they are looking for. I guess not. Ahh Mark, I really was hoping for a better experience based on other reviews. Communication leading up to the event was great. Set up was about 15 minutes which was what was promised. The music to start was good, a variety of oldies which was a decent opener to the party. Unfortunately, the music didn't really get good until the end of the party. A few days following the party I heard from my maid of honor and my cousin that requests to change the genre of music were made and didn't happen. I also just found out that my father requested his and my mothers wedding song that never got played. So disappointing. The worst part of the evening was when DJ Mark left the event. He drove off at a pretty high speed very close to the party and ran over our custom corn hole board. It had been signed that evening by all of our party guests, making it completely irreplaceable. There really was no remorse or offering of trying to make it right. That was the worst part, I understand mistakes happen but that board will never be able to be recreated. read more

I hired Dj Mark Avila for my daughter's quinceañera two weeks ago and let me tell you he did not disappoint! He got there early to set up his equipment and chatted up with my family while we were waiting on guests. He is very funny, they loved his energy. Im old school when it comes to every music genre and i told him to play mostly that when it was his set time. He played all the good jams! I also had a live band and he did so good in communicating with them with setting up and respecting each others set time. Also, when i first called him he mentioned he also had uplighting for the walls and i told him i might be interested but wasnt too sure if i wanted that.
