    New updated menu Jan 2024

Djs breakfast is very good, tasty fluffy pancakes, setting is fine especially in the front dining room overlooking a small square near Connecticut College Two ladies do their best to keep up with customers although sometimes do get a bit behind They recently upgraded their menu and prices have increased significant but are now much more in line with similar breakfast/lunch restaurants in the area but still a fairly good value

Went here for the first time today and loved it. They were pretty busy but we were seated promptly. Our server was a woman named Tina who was super friendly and funny. Pancakes are massive and so yummy.

So these guys opened up across the street in a new building. Me and my boyfriend wanted to try it out, being locals, we've eaten at every diner around. So I walk inside, ask for a table for 2 while my boyfriend is outside finishing his cigarette. The waitress is grabbing menus, and I tell her I'm going to use the bathroom real quick. This lady in the kitchen yells at me that "THE BATHROOM IS FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY" I replied with, "I am a customer, I just got a table for 2...." Disrespectfully, she yells again even louder, "you haven't purchased anything you're not a customer yet." That was the most disrespectful, unprofessional thing I've ever seen and I've been in the restaurant business my entire life. Whoever the owner is should know what happened and how they r treating potential customers. And btw. We both were going to get steak and eggs. So you just lost like 40$

If anyone knows about me and my food preferences, they'll know I don't usually like breakfast. That means we go to every breakfast place near us to find a place we both can find something we love. On one of these outings, we found the Campus kitchen, and have given them three tries...each worse than the one previous. Our first trip, my husband went big and ordered the Wide Load, a comically named, but accurate description for a 4 egg, 4 sausage, 4 strip of bacon, and 4 slice of cheese sando on a large sourdough hoagie. It's a heart attack of a sandwitch, but albeit pretty delicious. I tried the pork chop which was dry and boring with grits, which were just plain boring. On our second trip, I opted for the pancakes which were obscenely large, and alternately dry and goopy. Today was probably our last visit, where we both tried the wide load again, and it was greasy, salty, and borderline oppressive. Service is rough, with what I think is a family running it. Nobody talks to anyone else, so things get miscommunicated if communicated at all. We asked for a glass of water and they brought us boxes for food we didn't even have, and I asked for only one egg, and instead they took away my cheese (that I actually really wanted). Prices are mid to high for the low quality and low attentiveness of service. Location is convenient, but the restaurant is mucky, dingy, and in disrepair, with some of the most disgusting bathrooms I've seen in awhile. Wait is long for such a relatively small place, and it's never packed, so I don't know really what the big deal is. They do offer military discounts, but I don't see that as a factor really in influencing me to ever come back. This is a great place if you want to order one huge pancake and feed your 20 kids, or you're a hungover college student trying to get back into your day, otherwise this place is a mess.

Wow wow wow, what a hidden gem. This is the best breakfast spot by a far. Went for breakfast this morning as a party of 7, staff pulled two tables together and sat us right away. The waitress was great, super friendly and a great sense of humor. The pancakes are literally the size of the plate and taste great. Great prices, great staff, and family owned and operated! Can't wait to go back next time I'm in the area.

This was my first time to this breakfast diner. It's very close to Connecticut College which was really convenient for my friend and I because we were at the Arboretum. Parking it abnormal, there's an "in" on one side of the building, and an "out" on the other and parking in the back. Inside is roomy with plenty of space in between the tables and chair room so you're not on top of someone next to or behind you which is VERY nice. The staff is very friendly and decorates the meals beautifully. For the food, my friend got a short stack of the chocolate chip pancakes and the home fries. I got a plain waffle with blueberries and whipped cream and a side of hash browns. DISCLAIMER: The pancakes are almost the size of the plates, and a short stack is two of them. She could only eat half of one, but took the rest to go. Everything that I had was delicious, and I would definitely go back if I ever was in the area again!

This might actually be the greatest breakfast place I have ever eaten at. The food is fresh and tastes homemade. You can tell this is a family owned place and has a rich warm feeling. The wait staff are friendly and service is fast. The prices oh the prices. You can't beat these prices. The portions are huge and everything is delicious. I love the fact that they only are open from 6am until 12noon. The space is small but you really don't notice it because of how big the service and portions are. I can't wait to return. This is my new go to breakfast spot in CT. All said and done this is the place to go it's just that simple.

Holy breakfast! Short stack pancakes, strawberry waffle (WITH ICE CREAM!!),and a ham and cheese omelet.

The parking lot is 'smallish' on the right side of the building and flows right to left in one direction, so be sure to look for the 'enter' sign. There are three steps up into the diner so be aware of that if you have difficulty using steps. Also, the restroom is tiny: like so small the sink is about a foot long by half as much wide, small. We stop in here on our trips out to Groton. Last visit we stopped for a late breakfast/early lunch. I ordered a coffee and it came in a nice big mug and is a mellow blend with a smooth finish. There are photo descriptions on the table of what your eggs will look like based on how you order it, so no surprises. What a great idea. The table holds napkins, hot sauces, salt & pepper, jellies, creamer and sugars. The staff are pleasant. Some are more chatty than others. There are definitely some regulars here each time we visit. The menu has lots of breakfast options but there are no substitutions so you may need to order al a carte or get a different 'meal' option and add-on an item. Just a heads up. They have plenty of toast options including English muffins. The lunch menu is a variety of sandwiches and burgers. Fries are tasty. Lettuce and tomato on your sandwiches are fresh. I can't think of a single disappointment we've had here. If you are in the area and enjoy a nice diner experience, stop in to Norm's.

I decided to treat myself there one night while out. There was a beautiful, kind hearted server named Kate (if I remember correctly) the store was quite busy and she was alone but she did not let that stop her positive energy and making sure each guest was prioritized. The food did take a little longer than I anticipated, however my server, Kate apologized for the wait and even mentioned beforehand that there might be a minor wait as the restaurant was busy and it was just her on for the night. About a half an hour later my food came out, and I have no complaints about the food other than the hashbrowns were a little undercooked other than that everything was excellent. Even though the food took a little while my server made up for it in every way! Made sure my cup was full without my asking and was just a very pleasant person to be around. If I were her in that situation I would have been so overwhelmed but she kept her cool and stayed so grounded and kind. We need more people like her overall my experience was good and I'll continue to go back as frequently as I can now to visit Kate and get my chicken bacon ranch that she suggested. It's very good!

It looked really good and she mentioned her friend always got the buffalo chicken baked potato so I got that. Potato was a bit undercooked, basic buffalo sauce and a couple of frozen chicken fingers. It was topped with cheddar and sour cream - some blue cheese in there would have been nice. I wouldn't order this dish again. My son had the Mac and cheese which was good. Both my wife and daughter got the chicken penne vodka which was really really good. My son loved, even if he was a bit scared of, the cupcake with the sparkler. Would definitely come back, just ordering something different next time. Other people's burgers looked great.

Seated promptly and our server took our drink orders. They had plenty of St. Patrick's Day specials to choose from which included Shepard pie, corned beef sandwiches and various other dishes. The burger was cooked medium as requested and was large on a nice soft bun with loads of blue cheese and bacon. Lettuce and tomato were on the side which was good because the burger was so big before adding them that you wouldn't be able to get a bite of it. Season of the meat was excellent and this was probably one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. A small container of coleslaw was on the side. Wow, we were seriously impressed. Parking was easy with plenty of space, the diner itself was spotless, and the interior was bright and welcoming. The staff was friendly from the moment we walked in, and we were seated right away with no wait. Edgar took care of us and was fantastic. He was super friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming (and yes, "took care of us" feels more accurate than "waited on us"). We started with two soups: beef barley and lentil. Both were absolutely delicious, comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Of course, I had to try the mozzarella sticks, and they did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked, and the marinara sauce was thick, tasty, and not watery at all. For our entrees, we ordered the Philly cheesesteak melt and a beef/gyro panini. The portions were generous, and the flavor was even better than expected. Even when we were full halfway through, we still wanted to keep eating because they were just that good. We couldn't leave without dessert after walking past the display on the way in which showed so many options. We went with the chocolate layer cake, and holy moly. The slice was massive (looked like half a cake) and absolutely amazing. We couldn't finish it, probably should've skipped the fries , but it was hands down one of the best cakes we've had in a long time. Overall, an excellent diner experience from start to finish. We'll definitely be back and will likely become regulars. It's that good.
