Plus the puppy picture name wall was adorable and they name meals after them! Our server was nice and the menu had interesting choices, but sadly they sounded better than what they were. - the scramble was not that great...overdone eggs and I'm not a fan of slapping a square piece of cheese on eggs. I think shredded cheddar would have been a better choice and the crumbly-sausage was an odd choice for breakfast sausage - I was excited they had hash browns but they were premade with garlic powder and came out mushy. BLUF: Acceptable food but nothing to seek out. I went here on a Sunday morning and felt it was kind of a restaurant that had taken over maybe a thrift store location in a plaza. It certainly does not evoke a diner in the least, not sure why the summary would say that. The space is crowded, with flimsy tables and uncomfortable chairs. The service is fine, friendly but distracted. The food was also middling, especially on temperature. I got the house special, some pierogies topped with onions and peppers, toast, 2 over easy eggs, and potato hash. The over easy eggs were on the verge of medium, the potato hash could have used some of the onions and peppers, the pierogies had a cool interior, and the toast was fine. I heard the waitress tell a patron with burnt toast, however, that all the toast was fine except white toast frequently burned. This baffled me as an opportunity you'd think to address, not accept via lame excuses. Needless to say, I was unimpressed and don't see a need to return. read more

Great breakfast spot! The inside is so cute, reminds me a lot of a cottage style close to what my grandmother used to have. They have daily specials and lots of gluten-free options. They asked about my allergies and even toasted my bread on a separate pan. We loved it so much we came back the next day. I tried the Little Breakfast with gf toast and the Ruby Sue on gf toast. We had gotten up late on the Saturday before Mother's Day and we were looking for a brunch place. It was recommended to us by the owner of Mystic Vacation Rentals, and we had a wonderful experience. The 1950s/60s kitchen aesthetic is fun and inviting, and the atmosphere is very friendly. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed our meals; the Santa Fe omelet, Garden scramble, and turkey sausage were all excellent. Additionally, our waitress was very kind and accommodating. Loved the sausage and gravy (although I do wish it was on a biscuit and not bread). The Carrot Cake Waffle specialty they had was outstanding. If they have a special that interests you try it! My partner and I stayed in the area this past weekend for a little getaway. Both of us lovers of a good breakfast place, we narrowed down our options to two restaurants, Somewhere in Time Cafe and another that shall not be named since we didn't dine at the establishment. We were both so happy with our decision to say the least! When we arrived, the place was PACKED, but we were sat in five minutes. The servers are friendly and fast, the food was out quickly, and it was DELICIOUS! I got the Mavis Medley and my partner ordered the Drew. I took one bite, looked at my partner and said, "this is going to be one of the best breakfasts I've ever had." Cheesy, flavorful, eggs cooked perfectly...oh, the toast! The bread is made at the restaurant. I could have eaten a loaf of the rye. My partner said the sourdough was absolutely delicious. My partner got the garlic hash browns with her omelette. Garlic lovers they are a must! Again, the staff was very attentive and friendly. The owner came over to our table for a quick chat. She was hustling just as hard as her staff! As we were leaving my eyes locked in on a cinnamon scone. We grabbed one for the road to share later for a snack. Again, delicious! The portions were huge. We had so many leftovers and didn't want them to go to waste so we ended up buying a way too expensive cooler in the seaport. I can't say enough about this place. We really enjoyed our meal at Somewhere in Time. Aside from having to enter from an obscure side entrance, everything went smoothly. The staff was friendly and we sat out on the patio. My hungry boy had the egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich (best ever!) and the Texas French Toast (three large pieces), my wife had the turkey club (best ever again!), and I ordered their staple banana bread French toast. I actually enjoyed my son's French toast a little more as my banana bread was a little dry and needed tons of syrup! We moved away and have been gone for 7 years. Coming back I knew that somewhere in time was at the top of my list for places to go back to. It's still just as wonderful. The specials change weekly, and I keep an eye on their Facebook page for when they are posted(typically later Friday), and plan if I'm going to go the next week based on what I see. I have noticed their waffle specials sell out and are off the board by the time I come in, even if it's a Tuesday, and that's a bummer, but I'm normally wanting their French toast anyway! In the two months we've been back, we have gone twice. First I got chai maple pumpkin bread French toast, and today I got the grinch special French toast which was double chocolate banana bread, with cream cheese and chocolate drizzle and banana slices. Both were amazing! I always get a meat side, like bacon or corn beef hash to break up the sweet with something salty. The service is always amazing. Personable and kind. Food always comes out quickly. Inside is seat yourself, which can get a little wonky when it's full, but we typically find a spot pretty quick! They are also no longer cash only! Do not bypass this option, I can't believe I was not aware of this adorable place before today. We had a change in plans and decided to go in another direction for the day and we're starving. I quickly googled gluten-free breakfast and found this shining light in a food desert area. She quickly outlined the gluten-free options and told us that she would avoid cross-contamination. Upon arriving there is plenty of parking. There's also a lot of seating. We received the extensive menu quickly. There are so many options! My Kid opted for the gluten-free toast which was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of powdered sugar on it. It was accompanied by a nice size of crispy bacon. It was approved and the plate was cleaned! I ordered the veggie scramble with sourdough toast. It was delicious! It had a ton of different vegetables in there but it was a good balance of vegetables and eggs. Sometimes when restaurants make vegetables scrambles it gets too watery but somehow the cook avoided that. The toast was grilled which was interesting But it was fantastic. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about our experience. I really hope our next visit there is just as fabulous as this one was. I'd like to commend the staff for offering gluten-free options that are actually cooked separately, a lot of restaurants don't realize that if you cook gluten-free pancakes or French toast with the regular options then that makes it not gluten-free. Small place with great food. I read about the breakfast club and came just to try it and was definitely not disappointed. Ham, egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato, was perfect combination. All the breakfast food I wanted in a club sandwich. And what a large portion. I could only eat half and took other half for the road. I also filled up on lots of self service coffee. I was very impressed and they did indeed ask me if I was ok and did I love the sandwich and was there any way they could help me!! Somewhere in Time is right on Time! I've been going to this spot for years and have tried loads of different items on the menu. They have a wonderful special board, which constantly changes and always has great items there. They also have really good coffee, which is important to me at a breakfast spot. My favorite breakfast item is the drew omelet. It comes with avocado, Monterey Jack cheese, tomato, bacon and comes with a side of toast. I love getting a pancake with it, love a good sweet and savoy combo. It really is a good neighborhood spot. I've visited Somewhere in Time for breakfast twice. I ordered the Sampler for the first time during my first visit, which was decent but not exceptional. The pancakes, sausage, and bacon were excellent, while the French toast, eggs, and home fries were somewhat bland. On my second visit, I tried the breakfast burrito and home fries, which also lacked flavor. I opted to have the breakfast burrito with the salsa on the side to taste it first, which was a wise choice. Unfortunately, the salsa was only mediocre. I returned to Somewhere in Time for breakfast again to confirm, and sadly, it didn't meet my expectations; however, they serve amazing pancakes. If I'm craving delicious pancakes, I would return for them. Overall, the service was pleasant, and I enjoyed the old-fashioned motif, but their food needs improvement. read more

This is definitely a 5 star review. I ordered the Sante Fe omelet. It was SUPER stuffed with cheddar, jalapenos, avocado, and black beans. It was the very best omelet I had in a very long time. I had the poppy seed bread which was a bit dense and dry to my taste. The coffee was self served and fresh. I had the "Your Jamaica Me Crazy". (I think that's how it was spelled.) My friend had the Country Scramble which he loved. It was huge. He is a super picky eater so that was an awesome review. My friend's wife had the pancake and she really liked it. This was our second breakfast spot in CT. I don't know if it's because we're accustomed to good/great breakfast in NYC from corner stores & expect sit down spots to do a good job but this place was just disappointing. The waiting area inside smelled like a boys locker room in the summer time with no ventilation. Possibly because it was a hallway attached to a dance studio. This made us almost not go for breakfast but we drove 25 mins & we could sit outside & wait. They need to work on that. Place had a unique self serve coffee / tea area. Guess this helped the staff have more time to help patrons. Not a bad idea in theory. Area was a bit messy - some patrons left their stirring spoons & made a mess when pouring milk. Drinks: Me & my friend ordered the fresh squeezed lemonade. The cup was stacked with ice & barely any juice. We figured out why. We asked for another cup & was told we got the last two cups.They basically only had enough for one cup & made it work for two by stacking the cup with ice. Coffee was ok. Chai Tea was basically some sort of hot chocolate with hint of chai. Was weird when the waitress asked my SO if she wanted Whipped Cream on her Chai?! Food: Best thing was my custom order of Bacon Egg & Cheese. It was tasty but I'd hope they wouldn't mess that up. I also had the Thanksgiving Sandwich. This sounded amazing but was no where near that. It was slathered in Mayo. The cranberry sauce was a circular cut out from the can. The "stuffing" was this weird mushy flavorless thing. The Turkey was ok. Lacked flavor. Their home fries was just bad. It had no flavor & was like a baked potato that got left outside. It wasn't even warm when it came to the table & 3 of my friends had it. That was so disappointing. The omelet with Avocado was sad. It was weird my friend could literally open the omelet like a book. A little off the beaten path cozy/lunch restaurant. Went in today with the wife and my parents. Got two Reuben sandwiches, a Keith Allen chicken sandwich and a BLT. They were very sweet to my son and gave him crayons and a coloring paper very fast The food was excellent and the staff was very kind. Loved the Reuben! Tasted phenomenal. Really nice staff, great prices and great food! Highly recommend for a quaint breakfast or lunch. Update: went back the next day for breakfast, the French toast, pancakes etc. Were all phenomenal. Very cute cafe connected to a dance studio. I love that there is a parking lot right out front! I love how they have a lot of coffee and mugs out for you to drink while waiting. The food portions are HUGE. These pancakes were definitely bigger than my face. My boyfriend and I got pancakes to share along with our entrees and for once we actually could not finish our food!! This is the cutest little cafe! We came here as a group of ~12 and were seated quickly considering how big our group was and how big our party was. We were offered coffee from the self serve coffee bar while we waited and all of the servers were very kind. The menu is expansive, reasonably priced, and has all of the diner favorite. We ordered a number of different dishes, all of which hit the spot and satisfied our craving for a nice hearty breakfast. The specialty pancakes were tasty as well. The portions are on the generous side, so definitely a plus! Don't expect anything revolutionary, but Somewhere in Time is a great little diner/cafe and I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for an all American breakfast spot. read more
