Cantor Law came as a recommendation from a family friend, as we were struggling with prior attorney in a family court case regarding visitation and child support. Like others have mentioned, their asking rates may feel high, but we were impressed by their level of professionalism and responsiveness to any and all questions that we had. Rebekah Burz was our attorney and she was able to perform a quick assessment of the current state of our case. She asked all the right questions and was able to put us at ease, since our prior attorney did not provide us with much support. We were able to settle most of what we wanted out of court and, when it came to trial, Rebekah did great. I do wish that we had been warned and/or counseled that the resulting child support payments could come in so much higher than what we had originally discussed and/or expected, but it was a good lesson for all of us. I used the Arizona Board that gives a list of lawyers who are proven experts in their field. I was met by an Attorney, whose name I had to ask for in our free initial consultation, which ended when I was told the price for their services was a flat fee of $10,000. The fact that it was a free initial consultation was a pleasant surprise. In addition, Stephanie Ramos, was very kind and attentive. I'm sure an error was made, not out of malice or purposefully, but was mistakenly met with a junior member of the firm's criminal law division, despite being assured I'd meet with a partner. I asked, yesterday, to be represented by a senior or founding partner, preferably by Mr. Cantor as the case requires his unique expertise, especially since I only have one chance to present evidence to the Phoenix Court. Upon review of the firm's website, their Family Law division states they have affordable hourly rates. I am waiting on the wire transfer, for the $10K. It has to be pulled from different investments, to minimize the financial impact. The transfer should arrive this week. Given the urgent need for Mr. Cantor's unique expertise, I called and asked to hear back from the firm. My e-mail to the attorney who said that if I needed anything, to send him an email, has not responded. I have also not received any call or email from the firm since then. I understand Mr. Cantor must be a busy man, so while I still prefer him as my representative, throughout the entire process, most importantly have him physically present at the Court, to ensure my chances of success, I would be confident with any of the Arizona Board certified experts in Family Law to help. For example, Partner, Director of Client Relations, Daniel Wilcox; or Senior Associate, Lisa L. What I received in return was effectively no legal representation. My actual legal representation consisted of a single in person meeting lasting approximately seven minutes. During that meeting, I was not told that a Response was due, not warned that failure to file would result in default, and given no legal strategy, guidance, or next steps. I was told communication would occur through the client portal. It did not. At the time I retained this firm, my case was already on the verge of default. Nicholas Boca, Ryan Baumgartner, and the assigned paralegal all knew that a Response was required and that failure to file would result in default. I met with them while default was imminent. They knew. I was never told. Not a single document was filed on my behalf during their representation. No Response. No motion. No protective filing. Nothing. Despite filing zero pleadings and performing no substantive legal work, Cantor Law Group charged over $3,479.51 against my $7,000 retainer. I still went into default. After the firm withdrew, I requested my client file. What I received was alarming. There was no legal strategy, no draft pleadings, no analysis, and no substantive work product. The attorney "notes" consisted of only a handful of words. There is nothing in the file that explains or justifies the fees charged. When I escalated these issues and emailed firm leadership, I received a response from Nicholas Boca, with Daniel Wilcox copied on the reply. This was not an associate response -- it was firm leadership. The response stated the matter was "closed" and warned that any further communication from me would be considered harassment. That response says everything about how this firm operates: take a large retainer, fail to act when default is imminent, charge thousands of dollars anyway, and then threaten the client into silence when accountability is requested. This was not a misunderstanding. This was a complete failure of representation, supervision, and basic professional responsibility, with serious legal and financial consequences. Cantor Law Group managed my divorce. Travis Owen and Amanda Szpakowski were my attorneys. They were personable and worked hard to establish a postive working vibe with me. Overall, my attorneys and the firm provided competent, caring service on a contentious and sometimes absurd case. I did receive a decent settlement. However, I believe it was not the amount to which I was entitled, given that I was married for over forty years. There were concerning issues. First, the fees were outrageous. At no time did anyone suggest ways to limit expenses. They seemed to be waiting for pushback from me on costs. Second, the attorneys often appeared to "forget" which side of the divorce they were on. For example, minimizing waste from expenses associated with my spouse's pornography addiction....as if spending thousands monthly on OnlyFans, digital dating sites, and gifts for other women is something a "typical" man does. Then, there was the issue of doing NOTHING about my ex's lack of cooperation and contempt for the legal process. Why? Probably because my financial resources were limited, while ex's were limitless. Finally, and my biggest complaint, after collecting tens of thousands of dollars in fees they sent the case to mediation. Why? LIkely they wanted to close the case quickly because costs were escalating and I was out of money. The award for most outrageous moment goes to Travis Owen for showing up on mediation day WITHOUT a roster of financial values for the contested accounts. He also drafted a final decree document with emphasis on limiting my future liability for liens by my ex's creditors. My case began in Nov 2019. I first met with a Pamela, but she was not available to represent me. I was passed to Deandra Arena. I asked for an update after zero communication and had some questions, then was told was not a good fit and pushed over to John Carbone. I believe between being passed between lawyers important information was not relayed and they did not do their due diligence in fighting for my case and I had to constantly be asking for updates. Also with any correspondence of asking updates they will charge you for simply reading an email. I have a large debt due to illegitimate charges and when asked about said charges they stopped responding. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. They'll leave you worse off than you began. They did not bring up any relevant issues on domestic violence which misguided my case entirely. The judge ruled as me being unreasonable and order in favor of other parent. *Update since leaving review: one of the higher ups emailed me to check availability to address concerns. After my response I've not received anything in 2 weeks 03/30 update: Nik Boca an attorney from firm responded, on behalf of DCantor. I was offered 3k of previously paid fees in return for removing any negative feedback. When not accepted they also extended a courtesy of working with my current representation in my case. However when consulted on a matter i once again was told they'd do so only once the negative post was removed. This firm also mentions they're experienced in DV cases which was my deciding factor to go with them. Per my experience, this is not the case and they weren't very willing to pursue that subject in the matter along in court and advocate for me. I appointed Cantor law group to represent me after my child's father petitioned me to court and now I'm in a worse circumstance than how it initially began. To start I was given the attorney William Harrison who shown to be quite inexperienced in family law. He failed to use viable evidence during a temporary hearing that ended up favoring my child's father. Not only that, the DV in my case was never brought to the attention of the judge thus making me out to be just an angry mother (which I'd like to note never kept my child from his father). In the two months that I obtained representation from Cantor law firm I've given them nearly $14,000 for absolutely no advancement in my case. I terminated their legal services and upon doing so was told they would expunge my remaining balance which would have easily put me at $16,000 for this absolutely poor service. Nick boka seem like a very nice guy had my best interest at heart I couldn't figure out why a couple times I had consulted with him he kept giving me the same lawyer. ARIEL COHN( AKA) ARI . There was three parts to this case with threatening intonations. Ari cut us come down my son and I and go over the whole case right away he kept looking at his watch that he needed to go granted it was a Friday but this was very important to my custody case extremely important well he told me don't worry about the messages because that was after you had the order dismissed so we did not do anything about the messages. Big day in court comes around we go there the judge immediately drops the first two that I had already had dismissed but was interested in seeing the messages. Opposing counsel that they were handing us as they went you were totally unprepared for it. Drop fumbling through pages that the opposing counsel had given us it was just a circus and Ari was the ringleader I could see him sweating absolutely had to improvise and just did a terrible job the messages my ex-girlfriend had misconstrued if we would have been prepared for it would have been very easily been dropped it was a very easy case except we weren't prepared I was told it was my fault for excessive messages but we weren't ready for the messages you didn't even look at them and bring them Nick Boca Raton no apology but what really got Boca already had went back to the office after we've lost I told her that I had called her bad names and I'm not even going to save them I can't even write them I got that back to me I said I absolutely have never talked to her like that there was not any threatening language whatsoever and not one person I don't talk to women like that. Ari or Nick Boca took absolutely no responsibility for anything I mentioned if he would have put up a good fight and we lost I would have been okay but we didn't put up any kind of argument and it was an absolute disgrace and has hurt me so much in my custody case that I'm going through now. I went to Cantor Law Group 4 months into my custody case after I fired my first lawyer. I spent more money constantly arguing with her and her staff and making corrections to her teams errors on documents then I probably did for her to actually do something on my case. I was working, taking 16 credits in school and raising a little one, so you can imagine the stress, and then to have it magnified by a nasty custody battle with my ex and lawyer. I felt like I was literally losing my mind. I met with Nik for the first time only 6 weeks before our ADR conference. Nik and his team pretty much had to start from the beginning because nothing had been done by my previous lawyer that should have been done months earlier. Nik understood the mental and physical abuse I had gone threw, and the anxiety going through all this was causing me. I went from flipping out on one lawyer every other week, to having a calming sense of relieve just walking into a room with Nik. Anytime I had questions or concerns, Nik or his team were available. I probably annoyed them with how many times I called or emailed with questions or about this or that, lol, I wouldn't blame them if they did, but never did they make me feel like I was. Yes, you are my client, obviously, you've hired me to handle your case. But I want you to understand that essentially, I am representing your daughter and what's best for her, not what's necessarily best for you or the situation but for her."
