I went to see Dr. Regina Brown at the Oceanside office for the first time in May 2025. So impressed! She and her assistant, Christina, were very kind and knowledgeable. I especially appreciated that Dr. Brown offered choices in how to treat my skin issues, and was not at all pushy. I can be indecisive though and after presenting the options, she said something to the effect of, "This is what I'm concerned about now." So I had that quick procedure done right there. She told me which things could wait and made suggestions. Now because of that I don't feel pressured and will call for appointments sooner than I might have if I felt forced. It took awhile before I was able to get this first appointment so I'm going to call soon! I have full confidence in this office, and do recommend. read more

2022 Review. Dermatolgy Specialists is a San Diego Dermatologist group that unfortunately operates like a large impersonal business rather than a traditional independent Dermatologist. I chose this Oceanside location over a closer one (San Marcos) because the wait time was a month shorter ( 1 month Vs. 2 month wait). My son recently went here for an issue so I decided this place would be fine for a rash I was having on my ears. Booking over the phone was pretty easy. They'll ask basic insurance questions and what your isssue is. On your appointment day you'll have some paperwork to fill out. They couldn't find me in their system, which was disconcerting (even though I had text messages from them).. They finally found me and asked me what the reason was for my visit was. For those keeping score that's twice that I told them the reason for my visit. Anyway, I was called back to an examination room to wait for a doctor.. Not too long of a wait, maybe ten minutes. When the Dermatologist came in he was accompanied by a transcriber. A young girl with a tablet that was trying to dictate diagnosis and file the prescription order.. First thing out of the Dermatologist's mouth? So why are you here? Sigh... He spent about five minutes with me and prescribed me a rash cream. This entire process was about efficiency on their end. Glad I didn't have to take my clothes off, would be a little weird with the transcriber watching. The biggest pain point was when I went to the pharmacist. They had concerns about the size of the cream that was prescribed (which was a very tiny size). They said there was a much larger sized tube (with same active ingredients) that would be actually cheaper. This really sucks because the small size was 60 bucks and because of refill cost, for 3 smalls is $180 bucks. One large size tube would be $50. The people at the pharmacy did a good job explaining how I was screwed over by this particular script order. Though they did mention that a lot of doctors just write prescriptions with no care about the cost of said prescriptions that the patient pays. One example is thst sometimes the same drug in ointment format is much more expensive than the exact same product in cream format. It sucks how big pharma stacks the deck against us... * Next time I need a rash cream I'm going to urgent care.. No month long wait for a 5 minute visit with a Dermatologist. * This place is run like an assembly line. In and out in less than 20 minutes. * This group has the lowest yelp rating in San Diego. read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into this building. The warmth of the waiting room was enhanced by the friendliness, competence, and we'll organized people at the front desk. Escorted to the exam room by the lead medical assistant, Angelina, I was introduced to Dr. Regina Brown. Cold hands were offset by her personal warmth as she carefully and professionally walked me through the complete skin exam. When she did notice a basal cell carcinoma on my left ear, she immediately performed a biopsy and promised a timely result from the lab. I was also struck by the way she and her medical assistant worked so well together, communicating and labeling every abnormality leading to conclusion that, for this 80 yr old, my skin was in pretty darned good condition. Neither of them tried to sell me some product I never heard of, nor gave me any cause for alarm. With basal cell it is recommended that we patients be seen every six months...just to stay on the safe side. I look forward to seeing Dr. Brown again, and she assured me that she would be available if I experienced any further skin issues in between our scheduled visits. A total thumbs up to this facility from the moment I walked in til the moment I left. Highly recommend.​ read more

I never write reviews because when things are bad I try to give the office the benefit of the doubt. But after two bad experiences I felt like I needed to write a review to save someone else in the future from a bad experience. I went to this office for the first time last year. After waiting for 45 minutes in the waiting room I went to check with the front desk how much longer it would be. Then I found out they forgot to put my paperwork on the shelf so the nurse knew to take me back. Now flash forward to this year. I had an accident where I got stitches on my face. I really wanted to get into the doctor so I could get something to minimize scaring. I was told the soonest they could get me in was three months later. I asked to be on a wait list hoping I could get in sooner. After a month I called and said I still hadn't heard back for any cancellations. They said there are other people ahead of you on the wait list. I let them know my toddler had three little moles I wanted to get looked at and could he be seen when I came in. They said no I'd have to make a separate appointment again months later. I said it will literally take less than two minutes to look at couldn't he look at the same time I went in? I didn't mind paying for an office visit for both of us I just wanted to do it while I was there. She said it was up to the doctor I could ask when I got there but she would make him an account so they could bill for it. I went for my appointment today and again after waiting 45 minutes the doctor came in. He didn't apologize for the wait or ask why I had come in. He quickly looked me over and when I mentioned my now healed stitches seemed to just brush it off like it's healed now nothing he could do. I asked if he could look at my son really quick and he said I could make an appointment three months later. He probably noticed the shock on my face and said maybe he could squeeze us in next week. Do not waste your time going to this office. They clearly don't care about patients time, or have good bed side manner or common courtesy. read more

I was in for a series of treatments costing over $1k (my portion) with zero results. During every single visit (with the exception of one where I waited over 45 minutes for an appt that lasted less then 5 minutes, I advised the assistant that the treatment did not appear to be working, I noticed no difference and to please leave a notice with the physician. The average wait time was 15 minutes and there was no compassion for the delay. Several times I was not asked to verify my birth date which was I know was required as the other half of the time I had to confirm. I have since moved to another dermatology group and actually feel like a valued patient. read more

I LOVE my dermatologist, he's legit the best! My only complaint is that he is so good it's sometimes hard to get in to see him, but he's worth the wait for sure. I have noticed that my appointment time I see more of as a check-in time and bring my work with me to do while I wait in the lobby, so that doesn't bother me at all. Front desk has always been helpful in person, able to assist me with co-pay's and questions about billing, and any specials they have going on. My biggest complaint is that it's hit or miss sometimes when you call in, almost worth it to go there in person if you're needing more than an appointment a few months out. But i'm willing to do a lot more footwork just to be able to continue seeing my dermatologist. He really is amazing, just got two mole/skintabs removed and i didn't even feel it. I have been a patient of Dr. Kristen Aguirre for a few years, and she is the best Dermatologist I have encountered. Her professionalism and knowledge is demonstrated with each and every appointment. What a fabulous experience all around! A few weeks ago I had gotten a referral from my primary to this location. I was lucky enough to have Raquel on the other line. This angelic woman was so sweet and caring. She spoke to me with empathy for my concerns and got me onto the schedule. Terrific start! The front desk reception was fantastic! I wish I had gotten the gals name. She was suited for the director of first impressions. Lovely. I got called back swiftly and I had the pleasure of being seen, by Dr. Andrew Ross. He instilled incredible knowledge, confidence in his skills, and professionalism. The amount of time he spent with me was truly impressive and unheard of. The fact that he was genuinely sympathetic to my concerns was a game changer and turned my entire day around for the better. My mom went here to get treatment for a skin condition in Jan 2021. The first appointment went well. After the first appointment, during the same visit, my mom made a follow up appointment for March 2021. She call the office on 2/03/2020 asking to see the doctor again because of a slight rash from the skin treatment again... The admin got rude with my mom on the phone about the rash then proceeded to tell my mom that their system has no record of her coming in for the first treatment in Jan 2020 or no record of the follow up appointment in March 2020. Basically the admin was like ... if you don't like it you can go else where.. It took every ounce of restraint not to take over the conversation...but I didn't... Complete shit, I am going on 2 months now, ZERO CONTACT. My doctor sent through a referral 3 months ago and said they would call me. Never heard from them, then I called them, friendly but wanted Referral ID # , didn't understand. The rude little shit didn't take the time to walk me through my referral paperwork. Kept asking for Insurance info. it has already been approved, I gave them my Name and Birthdate. If you cannot locate someone with that info, how are you going to find a cancerous tumor on me? Just inexperienced, inept and total failure. 2 months now and I cannot even make a fucking appt. fuck people like this, they obviously are all so rich and rolling in the money that new customers / patients do not matter! I am moving on. Worst experience. I am still waiting on them to call me back about my insurance, which is Medical - Blue shield AKA = Fucking GOLD in terms of insurance. Crap attitudes, not helpful on phone, go over the paperwork with people, know what they are looking they are useless minions.. The referral id # they were looking for from me was on the backside of my paperwork, who knew double sided paperwork was still a thing. So disappointing. I called them back, and she blew me off, like too late, we will call you back in 3-5 days with a determination of your eligibility. I already have that, so do they, how can you not look it up in your computer using what every fucking single HIPPA system allows, name and date of birth. The best feature about this dermatologist is the passable and sometimes nice front desk staff... but that's not the reason why you go to a dermatologist. I've visited a few times to address medical and cosmetic topics after a doctor referral and I don't plan on returning. I've dealt with two doctors and a few of the assistants and have never left felling good about the visit. They make you feel like they are doing you a favor and the appointments are rushed. The doctors seem annoyed when you ask standard questions, but most importantly, the quality of their work is not the greatest on either the medical or cosmetic ends. In both cases I've had to return or just go somewhere else to get the job done properly. Maybe other doctors are more experienced and more personable, but after a few attempts, trying to give them a chance, I've realized this place is not the best option for me when there are better options for this type of care in the same area. read more

I regret the day I chose Dermatology Specialists. Not only did the doctor that saw me treat me with 0 respect, but failed to disclose he didn't do temporary disability insurance. Even though Dr Samady took me out of work, he refused to let me collect disability while I healed out of work. He left me unaware of that ridiculous policy until AFTER my procedure. Then, after 5 attempts to get his office to print off a ok to return to work form, I finally was able to get it, but it took 5 days!!! If you like being treated like a number, herded in and out like an animal, treated with little regard, and put on hold for 45 minutes just to get a human on the other line that cares less, then this office is for you. As for me I'll be finding a more humane dermatologist with less of a animal mill mentality. Shame on this Dr and this office, a little care goes a long read more

Like Pay Pier(check google reviews), I had a very unfortunate encounter with Raquelle or Raquel- assuming its the same person- She spoke in such a condescending manner that I refuse to be serviced by an office that doesn't welcome patients. She started by snapping at me for mispronouncing SAMADY- which would have been fine if she corrected in a professional manner. Her bad attitude persisted throughout the call and I told her I would call back at later time because I thought she was being rude. She rudely shrugged and I ended up ending the call. The staff and the treatment I received was great. But, their website does not have an option to email them. Therefore, I am writing this comment to let them know that although I already had an appointment scheduled, they sent me a text message (which led me to believe I needed to call and schedule an appointment) and also sent me a post card telling me it was time to schedule a follow-up appointment. In both instances, they had my follow-up already scheduled. Administratively, it seems the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.......and it's costing them money. Doctor Ross is incredible and the best doctor all around that I've ever had! I came in for a keloid on my ear and treatment, and Dr. Ross was above and beyond extremely helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and considerate. He quickly gave me an exam and thoroughly expressed my treatment options and the healing aftercare process. I chose to go with removal surgery and while the whole process was extremely quick, he was incredibly thorough talking me through the whole procedure and constantly checking that I was experiencing no discomfort each step of the way. Whole thing was easy peasy and honestly made my week because it was such a breeze ! He also recommended keloid clips from Etsy & silicone scar sheets to help with managing healing my smaller and future keloids, which have given his other patients great results. Highly suggest him to anyone who needs a great dermatologist, and can't think him and his staff enough. NEGLIGENT, INCOMPETENT & ENGAGES IN BOREDLINE MALPRACTICE!! I am floored by the sheer NEGLECT this office provided. My husband doesn't like writing people off because they look like they just graduated but the medical provider he saw was beyond just negligent he was INCOMPLETE. Doogie Howser told my husband the growth was a benign cyst which there is no way he could've known because he had not even done a biopsy so now we are just making assumptions and if he would've looked at the patient history he would realize that the patient has already had pre-cancerous cells removed. This cyst was raised, discolored and worrisome but never fear Doogie Howser is here. Alas here we are five months later they were supposed to call us back to schedule the biopsy and removal and we haven't heard fuck. In fact we have moved on to find a different practice.
