Had a good experience getting tattooed here. Dora has a lot of experience, a good eye, great taste, and is very bubbly. I wanted the outline of my dog's face in flowers (sunflowers specifically) and Dora suggested keeping the ears as realistic so I asked for one floppy ear and one pointed ear. I love, love, love the result. My dog means the world to me so despite this being my 8th tattoo, it was the one I was the most nervous about. Dora's creativity and skill will give you an amazing result to trust her and work with her. I attached some screenshots from Dora's instagram where she posted a reel on the start to finish of my tattoo. I absolutely love it and despite having yellow-toned skin (a lot of South Asians do) so made the sunflowers pop perfectly while capturing my sweet boy's orange-red fur. When you go, make sure you're not in a tight schedule as my appointment started almost an hour later than expected, but I took the day off so I was fine. They are COVID conscious so be sure to mask, but they'll encourage you to drink water and snack as needed. Parking lot is small, but I had no issues getting parking. They do a lot of good work so I'd definitely check them out! read more

Me and my husband went today to Do. Art Ink Studio. We arrived for an appointment with Jun for two tattoos. The studio is bright and well lit with many plants. Gives a nice positive vibe and is very welcoming. After we filled out the necessary paperwork, Jun talked to us, showed us the design sizes. He was very professional. The single needle tattoo went smoothly, me and my husband were completely comfortable the entire time. And because Jun was familiar with the subject of the tattoo, it did feel he took extra attention to the details to make sure it was right. Super satisfied with the piece and already thinking about the next one to get. I Definitely recommend this spot. read more

The gals here are soo genuine (and have some cool badass tattoos on themselves!) its a women owned business so you know they're super sweet and kind. My friend and I got flash tattoos and we love them so much. They have cute designs and I think the artists do incredible work. read more

This is a long overdue review from pre-pandemic (dec 2019). I found this studio off Instagram and fell in love with Dora's work. I wanted fine line flowers as my next tattoo and she did an amazing job. Communication was really easy with her.. the spot was very clean. The only thing I didn't enjoy as much was as I was getting tattooed, there were 2 other people in the shop that I was assuming were Dora's friends. They just ate and talked while I was getting tattooed, and not much conversation between my artist and I. However, my tattoo also healed very quick with no issues and it came out beautifully. I'm still planning to come back again for another trip this year for another tattoo! read more

JD was easy to communicate with. I was able to send JD some pictures of what I wanted, they day of appointment he was able to show me a few ideas he had. My daughter and I wanted to get matching finger tattoos. Each tattoo maybe took 15-30 minutes, yes finger tattoo hurt more than other areas I have gotten. Really nice group of people. Really nice, relaxing vibe inside the studio. It was a 3 month wait to see Dora, but it was obviously worth it as her work is stunning! Dora accommodated my last minute request to go from partial color to full color, and I think it turned out beautifully. During the healing process, I kept it out of sunlight, avoided activities with sweating, used a hydrating balm, and wore lots of sunscreen. It has only been 1 year, but it looks virtually the same as when I got it. Very polite and professional staff. I plan to go back to finish the half sleeve. read more

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this studio. I've passed by it nearly every day since moving to Monterey Park and I've followed many of the artists on Instagram for a while -- all of the artists are women which is definitely a big plus when I'm looking for a new studio. I finally booked once I settled on an idea that I thought would be perfect with Zing's style. I'm so happy I booked with her! My tattoo was fairly simple but Zing was really kind as we went back and forth on the design a bit and was totally open to my feedback. The studio itself is bright and clean. The only thing I'll warn you about is it's right next to a dog groomers so you will hear barking constantly but if that's a concern I recommend bringing along some noise canceling headphones and letting your artist know. I did get used to it after about 20 minutes. The tattoo itself took maybe 30-40 minutes (I just got some small lettering on my thigh). It was not too painful at all and I almost fell asleep toward the end haha she really does have a gentle touch and I really recommend booking with her! She is very talented and great to work with. I will definitely be coming back here in the future. read more

I wanted to honor my grandma after her passing by getting a tattoo of a Chinese character from her name. I specifically chose a tattoo artist who was Chinese to understand the significant meaning of the tattoo and female because the tattoo was high up on my thigh (for my own comfort). I was happy to see that Do. Art is female owned and has a primarily mandarin speaking staff! The shop was beautifully decorated and made me feel comfortable, as this was my first tattoo. I spoke to the owner about what I wanted and she recommended Zing. Her work on IG looked amazing so it was an easy decision to pick her. The process leading up to my appointment was smooth. Zing was very detail-oriented and took her time with my tattoo. The tattoo took about 45 minutes. The Experience: The shop was fantastic, clean, and everyone from the receptionist to the artist were very nice and welcoming. They were timely and the check in process was easy and painless. I wish the artist would have been a little more personable or talkative but I understand that some artists would rather focus on the work and not talk which is fine, I didn't let that affect my review or experience. The tattoo: Got 2 tattoos in one visit from Kimi. One of them (my left arm, first picture) was a pretty standard number '11' and turned out perfect. The shading of the inside was nice and dark and heavy. Exactly what I was hoping for. The other one (right arm, second picture) I gave her a rough idea of what I wanted (a stencil of the 11 and a gradual natural shading going into my skin) and was hoping she would stylize the shading around it to make it look natural. After finishing she had me look at it and I asked if she could make the shading around it more gradual and blend it more. Well, after another 10mins of work she had me look at it again and honestly it didn't look much different so I figured we should stop there and I could maybe have another artist finish it since it seemed like shading maybe wasn't her strength. So I went home and a few days later my girlfriend had observed that the numbers in the 2nd tattoo were UPSIDE DOWN. Fortunately it isn't a big deal and I don't mind it being upside down but.....this could've easily been a really really bad experience. Overall the shop itself was great and the 2-stars is really for the work that was done and the mistake. I'd go back, but I'd ask for another artist other than Kimi if I want something more than just basic lettering. read more

I've gotten 2 tattoos so far 1 from Dora and the other from Zing. Both are so nice and accommodating. The tattoos are very affordable for the amazing quality. Everyone compliments my tattoos saying how beautiful they are. Dora was able to do very vibrant colors on darker/tanned skin without any issues. The tattoos were also practically painless compared to other tattoos I've gotten.The staff are very friendly/welcoming and the shop is very chill/relaxing vs how uninviting other tattoo shops can be. They are extremely unprofessional and money hungry at this establishment. Beware. I've gotten 1 piece from them and it was a good experience so I figured I would come back for another piece. I inquired on a small arm piece, maybe 3 inches max and was quoted an extensive amount of money. I gracefully said, "no thank you, that's a bit too expensive for my taste, thank you for the info and for your time." Instead of responding politely, I received a nasty and judgmental response back. I will definitely never give my business to such an arrogant establishment. So many better options out there for quality work and kind artists with better prices and attitudes. My review is based on those two visits and my experience with just the one artist. The rest of the staffs are as friendly and welcoming. It can get pretty busy here. An appointment is suggested. The place really doesn't have a lot of parking for the area, where there are other businesses within the plaza. My first visit was a walk-in and they took me. My artist, Zing was so pleasant and patient working with me. She's super friendly and kind! Very professional and helped me designed my tattoos. It took about two hours in all, from start of drawing and design to tat finish. On my second visit, I had made an appointment. Again, from start to finish about two hours, super nice and easy. My appointment was with the same artist, Zing. Zing helped me redesign a piece that I have on photo. She worked on it, converting it onto paper and made it backwards for me. It came out more beautiful and awesome then I had imagined. Thank you very much Zing. read more

I was getting a tat that included a Chinese character so it was really important to me that the artist be Chinese. I was super excited to find this Chinese woman owned tattoo shop with mostly Chinese women artists. I had been following the shop and Kimi on Instagram for a while and finally decided to make an appointment. I emailed the shop and got a response back very quickly. I booked about a month in advance, deposit via Zelle, payment in full at the appointment via cash. It's a cute shop with plants and a sitting area. Small parking lot, but no problem finding parking on a weekday afternoon. Super efficient - we finalized the design, placement, and size while I was there. For a small tattoo (about 2 in x 2 in), my whole appointment lasted about two hours. It came out great, healed perfectly. read more

Good tattoos, not so good people…read more I got my first tattoo by Jess years ago. The tattoo was simple and came out decent. The experience, however, was horrible. I wanted the design to be smaller, there was something wrong with the printer that day and the shop assistant had trouble making the stencil smaller. After a couple of tries Jess starts roid raging and slams the clipboard on the counter (I kid you not) and said something like whatever man I'll hook you up, meaning he's willing to tattoo it bigger for me even though I didn't want it that size. Wow, geez thank you your majesty Jess Yen, I am so blessed to get something I didn't want after watching you act out violently. Years later I decided to try again, this time with his apprentice Lucy. I had a phone consultation with her and she agreed to do my tattoo saying that her wait time is 2-3 years. I agreed and paid her a deposit. It's been more than 10 years now and I have not heard from her or gotten my deposit back. When I reached out to her, she tried to gaslight me saying that I missed my appointment. I was never informed of an appointment. First the owner display questionable emotional stability over something a little as resizing the stencil and then his apprentice scams me for a few hundred dollars. Yeah, this place gets negative stars if I could.

He wanted double bands around his forearm and Sam was able to sketch it out and do the tattoo on the same day. We were in and out within 1.5 hours. He explained the process and aftercare which made getting a tattoo seamless and less daunting. I was on the fence about getting a tattoo but my friend said if he got one I would have to get one too. I decided to get a runner with an ekg as I thought it was fitting for me. I wanted something small for my first tattoo and easily to keep hidden from my mom (sorry mom). He asked me to send him a picture of what I wanted and scheduled an appointment for Monday at 11am. Once Monday came I walked over and signed the consent form. He then printed out the tattoo and placed the outline on my chest and asked me if it was where I wanted it. Being a tattoo noob I trusted his judgement. After letting the outline dry I laid down and he began working on the piece. He said since it was a small tattoo and mainly lines there shouldn't be much pain and the healing process wouldn't be as long. It took about 30 mins to finish up the tattoo and the quality came out amazing. There was no pain at all and he went over the aftercare as well. I showed Sam this other tattoo I wanted and he said he would be able to do that as well. He says his art style is realism and anime so I can't wait to get more work done by him. He has been tattooing for 2 years now along with his apprenticeship. He told me to message him when I'm ready for my next piece. Maybe this tattoo thing is an addiction and will keep you coming back for more.
