I had to recently live in an apartment for 6 months while I had a house built, and shortly after I moved into my house I discovered the cockroaches from the apartment complex piggy backed on some boxes I moved in. I was seeing roaches in my garage, but most of the "how-to's" were for kitchens and bathrooms. At first I hightailed it to Home Depot, but there were so many products and the employees at H/D don't exactly train for pest control... So I searched The Google and found Do-It-Yourself Pest Control... I don't live far from their Suwanee location so I drove over there, explained my situation, and they immediately had a solution for me. The staff there asked a series of questions to determine what kind of roach I was dealing with (size, time-frame since moving in, behaviors) and they quickly de-bunked my apartment piggy-back theory and determined the roach I was seeing was from outside with all of the new construction. They assured me that it wasn't a full on infestation and gave me simple-to-use products and showed me how and where to use them. Sure enough, after about 1-2 weeks I never saw roaches in or around my garage again. Super friendly and helpful staff and I still call them when I have general questions. They claim that they sent my order to the USpS 3 days ago and it has never been entered into the USPS system. I would not have ordered if I new it was being shipped USPS. I've never quite trusted those pest control companies you see all over the place - I mean what is that milky stuff they spray anyway? I've seen too many reports of them using milk or watering the stuff down. I did a bit of research and decided to provide my own pest control - for regular spraying around the house perimeter and under the sinks, the stuff you buy premixed at the BORG is fine - you just need to mark your calendar and respray at regular intervals - make sure your pets are out of the house until the stuff dries. To use a more natural approach, diotomaceous earth is the way to go (but the powder is obvious, similar to boric acid) - especially if you have small children that get into everything. I go to DIY Pest Control for anything that requires an uplift. Case in point, the carpenter bees are just eating up my soffits - a couple of packets at DIY solved that problem (mix into a sprayer and apply). They're really good at providing the stuff you can't at the BORG stores - and where they really excel is making recommendations on applications for specific problems. The guys at other stores usually just end up reading the label to you. You also save a lot of money by doing this yourself and the store is very conveniently located - you take the Chamblee-Tucker exit on I85 and head west - it's right there off of the exit. read more

I decided to purchase something other than my usual Raid after being stung by a wasp! After some googling, I came across DO IT YOURSELF PEST CONTROL. I bought the two can pack of Stryker . Think I paid 18 bucks. When I received the cans, I used one right away...anxious to start killing some bees! I mistook a crane fly( what we used to call "big mosquitoes") for a wasp and started spraying. Instead of falling like a lead ballon , the non threatening crane fly was still flying. I was determined to kill it , so i kept spraying . By the time I decided to lay off the nozzle, I had almost used up the entire can. And guess what? I'm not sure all that spray killed him I emailed the company ... IGNORED. So that's that. Lesson learned. No more DIYPC for me. read more

I called DIY pest control because there was an error with my order. I hate writing negative reviews, but the person I spoke with (Amit) was abusive. It was like a sick game to him. He was aggressive, rude, and spoke over me. By the time the call ended I was in tears. I couldn't believe how aggressive this guy was. It was completely unsolicited. I didn't ask his advice, but his first question was, "What do you do for a living?". It all went downhill from there. He talked down to me and picked me apart. My husband walked in and heard him yelling at me (He was on speakerphone). Once my husband got involved, he backed down real quick. I'm known by most to be courteous and friendly. Why pay a pest control service when you can do it yourself? Earlier this year, I was in need of a standard pest control lawn treatment. After doing some investigative research online, I found out about Do-It-Yourself Pest Control. The website had a plethora of information and pricing. Browsing through the website prompted me to visit the actual store on Chamblee Tucker Road. For only $40 I purchased the lawn treatment and supplies. All I had to do was dilute the solution with water and attach it to a garden hose. The treatment worked really well and I had enough solution left over for two more treatments. DO-It-Yourself Pest Control has been in this location for years and years... you will always noticed their sign when you drive south on I-85. It's worth your time to swing by here but its best if you can drive east on Chamblee-Tucker Rd and turn right into the store because traffic at this intersection is horrendous. I tend to come here for one type of item only and this is what was known as a Roach Motel. I got familiar with this item from the Black Flag company while growing up in Florida, the land of Bugs. A roach motel is handy for nabbing these critters without laying down trails of bug spray. But the typical Roach Motel has become a rare item to track down in the usual hardware or department-type store. I was pleased to find these at DIY Pest Control. It's a different brand but works as well as the original. You might be surprised at how busy DIY Pest Control can get, so you may have to wait a while. Ok, so you can buy some of the same products used by professional pest control operators in the pest control industry. Well, I can go to Home Depot and buy the same products a professional plumber uses, or a professional electrician uses. That does not make me a plumber or an electrician. There's a reason the word "professional" comes before any job title. With that being said, this place has many effective products for all types of pest problems. If you are inclined to put in the work and research on how to effectively eliminate these pest problems then the employees here will certainly point you in the right direction. They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Some pest problems are more difficult than others, and sometimes it's worth it to pay a little extra for a professional, in order to save yourself the time and hassle. Very knowledgeable staff. I came here on the recommendation of my dad who has bought pest control products from Do It Yourself. Being that I live near lots of woods, I wanted to treat ants and spiders that were around my home and starting to come inside. After explaining what I was trying to get rid of, the employee told me what's the best solution and the best way to apply it. The products were a little pricey (compared to the stuff you can buy at Lowe's/Home Depot) but much more effective. ***Update*** I recently found it necessary to evict some tenants from a rental. I could not believe the filth and was sickened by the conditions. Prior to these tenants living in the house, I actually lived there and can attest to the fact that there were no bugs prior to them moving in over a year ago. I am a strong believer in DIY. Two months ago, I called and spoke with a young man who sounded knowledgable and helpful. I called back the next day with another question and spoke to a middle-age sounding man who was gruff and acted like he couldn't care less if I gave him my business. Around that time, our German roach problem got better and all but went away so we didn't move forward with treatment. Now they're back, so yesterday, I called this company again, hoping that maybe the gruff guy didn't work there anymore. Sure enough, I spoke with another young man who seemed eager to help, and I had every intention of going there after work to get their product. I even took off work early to drive 25 miles in rush hour traffic and get there by 5:00. I called when I was on my way to tell them I would barely squeak in by 5 (assuming traffic didn't get worse) and to be sure they wouldn't close early. Guess who I got? Yep. Gruff Guy, aka D***head because that's how he talked to me. He also told me they do not guarantee their product because "we can't guarantee the quality of your application". (The other young man had told me they would walk me through the application over the phone to be sure it was done right.) I think Gruff Guy must be the owner of the company and doesn't really give a care if people like him or his company or not. I will not be doing business with them. read more

I just experienced the classic "How to Lose a Customer" move. In the process of doing some backyard cleanup, we uncovered a rotting stump that was infested by what appears to be termites. Having used these guys before, with great service at the counter and equal results from their recommendation, I thought I'd try again, right? Well, after explaining my problem to the guy who answered the phone (I won't use his name); he asked me "how far is it from your home?" I said "about 75 ft". In a dismissive voice, he said "Don't worry about it". I told him I was worried about the flying ones, to which he replied "They're swarmers, their job is to start another colony elsewhere". OK, I said, what if that happens to be my roof? We've had a termite problem there before. I explained that we had a pest control company (I won't use their name either) come out to test and they confirmed the issue and treated it. He told me they ripped me off. After a few minutes of condescending lessons on how termites will only attack your house from the ground and how there are an average of 12 colonies er acre etc., he asked if the pest control company had set bait traps. I confirmed that. Then he asked "You know that's the worst protection you can use, right?" in that same condescending tone. I replied "No, but now that you've made me feel like a total idiot, can you or can you not help me?" "No..." Me: "Thank you, CLICK!" Here's the lesson: 1. I called because I had a problem. I was told not to worry about it, dismissively. Don't blow off your customers or their concerns. 2. I described an experience and was told that it couldn't happen. He wasn't there; he doesn't know. Don't argue with your customers, especially from a position of ignorance. 3. I was told that I had been duped, then wasted my money on a solution that had been recommended by a competitor. Don't make your customers feel like they aren't capable of making good choices. 4. You're there to sell stuff. If you carry a product that addresses an issue, and your customer wants to buy it, don't get in their way. Maybe it won't be the perfect solution, but maybe your customer will get a little satisfaction from the result. read more

I had (operative word HAD) a tiny insect problem at the homestead. I knew they were roaches but the traps I purchased seemed to not do any good. Even cleaning the crap out of my kitchen didn't keep them at bay. In fact, it made it worse because I cut off their food supply. I went to Do-It-Yourself pest control armed with little knowledge and even less cash. The gentleman behind the counter seemed pleased to see me even though I walked in half an hour before closing time on a Friday. He showed me a chart of different kinds of roaches and when I pointed out my visitors, he went right over and selected a gel to use for "eradication". It was cheap, easy to apply, effective, and best of all, safe for children. Well, fast forward two weeks and 3 applications, they have disappeared. Just made excuses. they also operate under several websites as different attempts at store fronts. Last summer we had a flea infestation and I ordered over $400 worth of different products from this company which included Conquer, Fenvastar Ecocap, and Alpine. I posted reviews of these products which showed that they did not work. I followed all the recommended advice-vacuuming daily, throwing out the vacuum bags, washing bedding, treating the animals. These guys are great. They don't yank your chain or try to sell you what you don't need. I have a wooded yard and when I moved in there was a bad problem with waterbugs (those big ugly roach-like things) They not only sold me a product that worked (and still does) but they also hooked me up with a sprayer thing too that is still working years later. They took the time to explain why the roach spay I'd been using wasn't even fazing the critters. Today I called because stink bugs are showing up.
