JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. It was so bad I had to file a complaint with corporate. Between the prices and the technicians this location was an absolute mess. Took my car in for a tire and oil leak and told them to get it up and running. Ended up paying over 2k just for them to tell me last minute ( a day before picking my car up) that the engine block was actually cracked and that I'd still have to pay for the oil pan and other repairs done before they realized when I had brought it in for a diagnosis as well. They insisted on selling me a full set of tires when I told them no and they tried to replace the single for a few hundred $ but I also told them no to that and when I went in they literally had a new tire on it when I never approved of that. Between the mishaps and the miscommunication from this crew, it was way too much. I'm a long time customer and have consistently brought my vehicles to Dobbs locations throughout the St. Louis County area and this is my first time at this location and I will not be back. Now I have to find another shop in my area to go to due to this. This location is the worst I've been to. read more

Dobbs lost my car key. After two weeks of excuses from the store manager I called their corporate office here. Ron took my call and was extremely short with me. His tone of voice was arrogant and accusatory towards me. After several minutes on the phone with Ron it was clear to me that he was not willing to provide any level of customer service. I asked for his supervisor and Ron replied "No." Never have I experienced a customer service agent with such a nasty attitude. It came as no surprise that Ron did not want me to talk to his supervisor because he would have been reprehended for the disgusting way in which he spoke. Ron needs to work on their people skills or find a different career path. I still do not have a working key for my car. The car has been sitting on their lot while they give every excuse for not being able to get a replacement key. Yesterday I called the store manager back and told them to send my car to the dealership. Dobbs is clearly incapable of getting the key they lost replaced so the dealer will need to replace it for them. I called the dealership this morning. They do not have my car. I called the store manager and was told Ron said not to take my car to the dealership. I could not believe what I was hearing. I asked Dobbs to stop trying to work on my car and they refused? I am going up to the store after work today. I will call a tow myself to get my car off of their lot before they mess something else up. read more

DO NOT GET SERVICED HERE. I came in telling them what I believed to be wrong with my car. They told me they'd have to do a diagnostic. They changed my oil and other things without even telling me they were doing that, and still charged me for it. They said they fixed my check engine light, it came back on 2 days later. And $800 dollars later. They tried to tell me there was other issues wrong and it would be a total of 1500 dollars. Once I said I couldn't afford it, the guy on the other end said "Well, Uncle Sam needs his check too" honestly go f yourself scamming teenagers out of their rent money and actually doing NOTHING to fix anything. Y'all are falling apart at the seams, everybody I know says this store will scam you like crazy. My entire family used to go here, and then went to Valvoline as dobbs became more sketchy. I went to High Ridge, MO. Dobbs for a simple oil change, an alginment and asked the front desk to have my drivers side mirror tightened, also. 2.5 hours later and over $250.00 later, my drivers side mirror was hanging by a wire, my heat shield was not put together correctly and they lost my bolts. On my drive home my undercarriage shields had become unpinned and were dragging on the road and rubbing against my tire with every bump and turn. This place used to be reliable. Now I will NEVER go to ANY Dobbs, again. It's an absolutely unacceptable, unsafe and unprofessional establishment with shady workers who clearly have no regard for their career or their customer. I brought our Aveo in for free Alignment check on Saturday. We planned to pick the car up on Monday morning. I understood the check is free. Any work or adjustments would be cost. The Dobbs manager I delt with said to pre pay $70.00 incase the vehicle needed any adjustments. He also said the Alignment mechanic is off today, but the other mechanic can do it. I arrived Monday to pick up the car. (HEADQUARTERS Located in High Ridge) The same manager I delt with on Saturday was who I spoke to. He said my car ( I bought it new) had accident damage and couldn't be aligned!? Their mechanic didn't make ANY adjustments at all. The manager refused to refund my $70.00! The mechanic did NO ADJUSTMENTS to the Toe, Caster or Camber. We have owned the car since New! I took the home. Got my level and set the Camber myself. Took the car back to DOBBS HEADQUARTERS IN HIGH RIDGE. The same manager met me at the service counter. I asked for a COURTESY ALIGNMENT CHECK. He sent my car to the Alignment rack. The regular Alignment mechanic was on duty. He didn't have to adjust ANYTHING! The car was perfect! Had this mechanic been working when I brought my car in the first time, he would have known EXACTLY how to adjust it. I STILL DID NOT GET MY $70.00 BACK. EVEN THOUGH NO ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE!!! Word of advise, look at the receipts before payment. Tried to charge me twice for the wheel alignment. "Oh, he accidentally put it on there twice". Guy at the counter didn't even give me a receipt before it was time to pay. I asked to see the receipt, sure enough, tried to scam me and blames someone else. How could It go up another 200? I think we all know why. Bring your snake repellant before arrival. One the positive side, they were honest about the tires needing replacement. Top this ! I went to the Eureka Dobbs for a tire rotation. I made a "waiting " appointment . When I got there they couldn't find my appointment in the book. The mgr. Joe Watts said no problem. It's just a tire rotation. I took an hour walk. My car was in the same spot. I asked about that and Joe said, " yours is literally next" I voiced my opinion about having an appointment and that it's just a tire rotation. 2-1/2 hours later my car was on the lot. I waited fifteen minutes and finally went up to the desk and said"hey, is my car done" The clerk shuffled around and finally said , "Duh, the manager gots your paperwork. "A third guy went and retrieved my paperwork from Joe Watts. He kept saying "sorry about that " and after me still pissed off, waived the 25.00's. Went home, took a look at my receipt to put in my files HOLY SHIT. THEY DIDNT DO A TIRE ROTATION. THEY DID A SAFETY EMISSIONS TEST. When I called and talked to Joe Watts , he said yeah, we know. We'll make it up to you. . After he admitted he knew about his mistake, they let me sit there three hours. Of course I told him how incompetent he is. He hung up. When I finally got a hold of the HMFIC in HighRigde home office, he said, "Well, you got an emission test at no charge ". I cancelled my Dobbs account after coincidentally, someone tried to use my account number the next week. Imagine that! read more

I will never do business here again. On the first of my last two visits to diagnose an mechanical noise that should not be there, they told me they couldn't hear the noise because the back brakes were too bad and were making most of the noise, the pads were close to done but the issue they said was rust. I argued they could be able to hear it over "the brakes" because I do and I'm old and practically deaf. They told me I could come and drive with a tech to try to hear it. We heard it within 15 feet of pulling out of the parking slot. They did the back brakes but couldn't replicate the noise on the rack so could not do the repair. My very last visit took the car in because the steering wheel had gotten loose and a new noise the could have been transmission or all wheel drive. Now the exhaust was getting louder so I knew that was going to be coming up. Well they call me, the steering wheel is fixed but they can't hear the noise I'm referencing because the muffler is split. I argue I can hear it, they said come drive with a tech. I said I would, but then decided to pay for the steering wheel. Nearly $200 for the steering wheel and the diagnostic they were incapable of doing. From now on I'll just invite them to fornicate themselves. read more

Too bad I can't give negative stars. I go here in emergencies however I needed tires and an oil change so decided to give them another chance. Certainly continue to disappoint. Tire price not bad and I expected to need an alignment so no surprises there, however not balanced correctly so had to make a trip back - old tires still performed better than my supposedly newly balanced and aligned ones. Now I have an oil leak - 24 hours after an oil change. Returned to have it checked out and was told it was because my car was old??? I have had it since it was new, NEVER leaked anything until I had oil changed in 2014 ish (thanks Dobbs), got it fixed elsewhere - filter was cross threaded. No problems and dozens of oil changes later no leaks until.... and now it is because my car is old? Got it fixed again at another competitor - no leaks any more. When will I ever learn. Took my truck to the high ridge store for emissions inspection my appointment was for 10:00 did not get to it until 10:30 half and hour later was told it failed. Said it needed more data to pass which ment more drive time .I asked how much told don"t know try 100 miles to start with then bring it back for reinspection . If it fails again then will have to look into something else which tells me they had no clue what was wrong with it. Never again will I go to Dobbs again ! I ordered a set of 4 tires via Goodyear.com and upon completing purchase this Dobb's store was listed as my local distributor. I also realized I made my appointment on the wrong day. (Scheduled exactly 1 week later). I called them and asked if they had the tires I wanted in stock and if I could get them installed today if I wait. I was told no problem bring it in he says. I bring the vehicle in and give my order confirmation and was told the tires wouldn't be available till the original date. I explained that I called earlier and was told my tires were available and in stock. The manager tells me that my tires have to come from Goodyear. I responded, don't the one you have in stock come from Goodyear? Yes but we can't give you these. ??? Needless to say. Dobb's in High Ridge gets an "F". Tip: you can save a few dollars if you buy through Goodyear.com and have them install them. read more

First of all I always believe a 2nd chance. A year ago I took my Jeep in for a engine light with a code of 1st Cylinder miss fire. They told me it was because I needed new engine mounts. I know better than that and I told them it needed a new fuel pump and the pump could not deliver the proper pressure and that is why I get the code. I took it to someone else and the fuel pump was replaced and the issue was resolved with the code. Last month I took the Jeep to Dobbs for whining noise from the power steering pump. They told me it was bearing from the crank shaft that made the noise and they can replace the engine. I knew better and went else where. It was a loosen belt making the noise. Well shame on me this week I went up to Dobbs and had them put new tires on the car. Now I have a bad vibration. Stay away from this place they are Crooks. read more

We took our business vehicle there for brakes a few days ago. They told me that the brake fluid was "burnt" and needed to be replaced. I grew up with the mechanic father and I've been a store manager for a major auto parts store. Burnt brake fluid is so incredibly rare this is nothing but another example of them trying to con people out of money they don't need to spend. Every single person I have talked to has said "oh don't ever take your car to Dobbs!" well, where were u all before! I took my truck in for a simple inspection and then they try to tell me that the exhaust manifold bolts were broken off and they had to drill them off when I had no prior issues with this before. There were no symptoms of this issue prior to bringing my truck in and they would have been very obvious to see. So after arguing with the manager and asking to see the bolts, he said they already threw them away and had all the work done. Which means they BROKE them off and came up with the solution of making it my fault and a "prior issue". This has happened to several other people and it made me think about all the times I have brought my vehicles here and got sketchy service and charges. They are dirty thieves and should not be in business. You would think that with shitty service like this they wouldn't be in business any more but apparently there are too many people who don't know how to fix their vehicles and can be taken advantage of. This makes me sick to think that I have to learn how to fix my own vehicle because there are so many dishonest people in this world trying to take advantage of people and make a quick buck. read more

Bloody Criminals! I have been to this franchise a number times over the past few years and each time I go in for a simple oil change, I get told of something major that needs to be fixed. So that oil change is now a repair in the order of hundreds of not thousands of dollars. Recently I went in for an inspection for re-registration. As usual the manager trots out and presents me for a quote to fix "contamination" in my rear bearings in the order of $800 to $1000. After spending $1200 and $600 respectively with Dobbs in the past few months on other "surprise" issues, I'm getting very frustrated with them and suspicious. Because about 6 months ago I had to pay $400 to them to clean out the rear left bearing, due to "contamination" and now I'm being told the same story but both sides need to be cleaned. So, WTF did they do to the left bearing, the first time around? Why does it now, 6 months later, need to be redone? They knew they had me over a barrel as I need my car to pass its safety check, so I can get it registered... so what bloody choice do I have! read more

I made an appointment to get 4 tires put on , I dropped my car off at 7am . Was told it would be ready in a couple hours . I told them I had to have it to go to work. Came back at 9:30 it was up on the racks and they had not even started on it. It still had my old tires on it . I told them I need my car NOW! And a couple minutes later I looked in there and all of my tires where being taken off. I went crazy . The store manager doesn't know what he's doing he was very rude which made the situation even worse. They said it would be ready in a couple of minutes. One hour later they called me and said it was ready . When I walked up to the car I noticed one of my Mercedes center rings was broke off. When I got in to start it my dash lit up and every tire pressure was different 35, 45 , 50 and 53 . Of course they claimed they didn't break my center ring . I took my car to a different Dobbs and they told me my tires were not balanced either! Unbelievable!! I will never be back to this store! read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!! I went to have a Safety and Emissions inspection. They failed my car because they said I needed tires. Gave me several quotes. I left and told them I was going somewhere else for my tires. The person helping me told me they would beat or match any deal (they wanted me to buy tires). I left and went to another independently owned shop and their tire prices were much better. They wanted to know what Dobbs quoted me. I showed him the quote sheet and he wanted to know what kind of car I drove since Dobbs quoted high performance tires for my 2008 Ford Focus. Long story short, the 2nd place I went passed my car for safety inspection and said I am good through the summer, but should think about tires before winter. Claimed it was s bad deal on the filter literally drove it a few hundred feet no oil trail or leak under truck after it sat after an hour of being done before it was picked up . This Dobbs damaged a car when it was brought in for an oil change. We had pictures showing there was no damage on the vehicle from days before that. They refused to take ownership of their actions, would not show the video proving it wasn't them, and they refused to file a claim on their insurance. This location is next door to the corporate office too. When we contacted them they refused to help with the situation, including being very vulgar on the phone. Beware when taking your car here. If you do, take photos before you leave the parking lot, otherwise you make get your car back scratched and dented. read more

I took my car in for 2 new tires. By the time I got there the salesman Dale had increased the cost of the tires plus added extra things to be done. I walk in the door to him asking me to sign the agreement paper. I went over it and got it at the original price I was quoted. Well during there 14 point free inspection the removed my air filter and didn't put it back. It was just sat on my engine without the lid. It was literally just sitting on my engine. I called and was told "Sorry" and that was it. When I explained it to Dale he seemed more worried about telling me that it was a free 14 point inspection. read more

Called ahead to get a price on having front brake pads replaced. I was told they were having a sale and it would be $109.25, bring it in and we will check it out. I ask if I could get in right away and was told, yes. One hour later the service manger sat down and told me the rotors need to be replaced it would be $550.00 approximately. I politely told him no I can do it myself. He said OK I will have it out in 5 minute. 15 minutes later he said he could get the rotors cheaper and could do the job for $350.00. Again I politely said no I can buy rotors much cheaper than what you are charging and showed him the price I had found online while waiting. 15 minutes later someone higher up than the service manager sat down and said they could match the price I had found and could do the job for $288.00. I had been there almost 2 hours by then and just needed to get the job done so I told them to go ahead, even though I was suspicious if the rotors even needed to be replaced. The whole experience did not give me confidence in their honesty. And what about the people who put complete trust in what they say and wind up paying over $500.00 for a break job? This was not the first bad experience I have had at that location, I don't think I will be going back anytime. read more

My family has been going here for all of our auto care needs for years. I do not understand all the bad reviews. I recently had a really great experience here. Tom, the service manager is awesome. My 2013 Ford Escape that I recently purchased needed a tune up. Turns out there was a whole bunch of problems besides bad spark plugs. Everything from a cracked cylinder head to clogged fuel injectors to a new timing belt. Ended up spending a lot of money for the repairs, but that is expected with the amount of parts and labor involved. But what sets them apart from others about this is that my check engine light came on a week later. I read the codes and took it back up there. Turns out, my intake VCT Solenoid was clogged with a bunch of crap, causing it to run poorly and my PCM needed reflashed to the right specifications (This is something that Sunset Ford should have done when I took it up there for a recall recently) They are better than the dealership (or $tealership as I like to call them). Tom did not even charge me labor, just for the parts. He made it right. Grade A customer service! I am not just saying this as an average joe. I am an automotive student, so I understand how this all works. I decided to take it to the shop because I lack a lot of tools needed for a major repair like that and because of time constaints.
