Fancy and trendy University housing where my friend lives - but definitely not the best place to live as a student because of the bad parking situation. But if you don't own a car, you're amazingly located for everything if you live right here. Great for picking up something you forgot, snacks, or Austin vibes! Parking is available for a fee, and the lot is adjacent to the building. There's also street parking! I lived at Dobie Twenty21 my sophomore year (2017-2018) at UT because it was more affordable than a West Campus apartment or the UT dorms, however, it was and still is NOT worth the money you put into it! I had a horrible experience and would not recommend this to any incoming students or current students curious about living here. Seriously, take your money elsewhere! To be fair, I will list both PROS and CONS to give you a full idea. PROS: A meal plan becomes handy throughout the semester, especially because these apartments are still dorm-styled and have no kitchen. The food is mediocre (what do you expect), but convenient. The closeness to campus is also an obvious plus, but that is about it for pros! CONS: The entire first semester and halfway into the second semester, we had-literally-NO A/C in the rooms. In the heat of Texas, no A/C. And in the winter, when it was freezing, no heat! So the rooms were uncomfortable regardless of the weather, and even once the A/C was "fixed," you definitely still need a fan in your room if you want to be comfortable. They even had to compensate all residents a sad $25 for dealing with no A/C, as if that really helped anything. Rent should have been FREE for a month for as much suffering we had to go through. The elevators break down LITERALLY almost every week. People got stuck in them for hours, or they were inoperable at the most inconvenient times (rushing to class, during finals week, etc.)! Absolutely horrifying. You would think a building with 20+ floors of students would be sure that their elevators, of all things, operated efficiently and consistently! I had to take the stairs more than enough times this year (good for you, yes, but not when you live on the 12th floor or up). Maintenance was terrible the first half of the year. They were extremely slow at responding to requests, even if you had a high-importance one. My bath tub/shower was leaking and I put in the request, which they promised to respond to within 24 hours. Almost a week later and with water leaking all over my floor did I have to CALL them and demand that they come now before water damaged the floor! However, they did work on changing out management at the very END of the year and it got somewhat better. If you're looking for a mediocre at best place to live for convenience, by all means, lease here. But if you want to save yourself the frustration, money, and time, go anywhere else! read more

BUT and a big but, the utilities never work (my room is currently 86 degrees and at the beginning of the semester, the heaters were broken and the rooms were 60 degrees. Dobie Center was the biggest mistake of my college career. If you don't read anything else please just know DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE. I beg of you. Do not do that to yourself, to your child, to anybody you love. Let's begin with the dilapidated prison-like rooms. Did I hear GREY SCALE?! Yeah, well everything, EVERYTHING is a different shade of grey. If you aren't the lucky individual to get the higher bed frame, even with bed-risers its like a prison bed. Buy yourself a cushiony mattress pad because these beds gave me bruises. You can't control the air temperatures in any of the rooms. Too hot? Too bad. Too cold? Too bad. SOOOO MANY THINGS BREAK. Toilets. Cabinets. Sinks. Sink knobs. Shower knobs. Light switches don't work. Sockets are so weak it can't even hold my blow drier plug. The carpet is stained worse than a suburban household with 5 rambunctious toddlers drinking grape juice out of open cups. I'll leave the rest of the interior of the rooms up to your imagination. Now on the technical side of things. The wifi is awful. Or should I say nonexistent? Slower than a turtle injected with a horse tranquilizer. Streaming tv? Haven't known what that was since...before I lived at Dobie. Need to do research for a project? Might as well walk all the way to a library. You'll save yourself some time. Printers don't work, EVER. How can you get away with advertising free printing and then have one printer, used by the front desk staff and ALL the residents be the only place to print or scan stuff? False advertising if you ask me and borderline illegal. The elevators NEVER EVER work. I almost fear for my life every time I step into one of those tin can boxes. I don't know who they call out to fix them but they clearly are missing a few screws (the people fixing them AND the actual elevator) My pun was intended there. DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE FOOD. OOOOOhhhhh LORD. 1) they never have any food (they are always "ordering more" or "didn't order enough) 2) undercooked, overcooked, under seasoned, or over seasoned. Its a lose-lose all the time (can they actually hire chefs and not glorified microwave junkies 3) forget about healthy eating options, you either eat whatever rubber, undercooked creation they have or you're basically forced to seek food elsewhere. Where is my money going if every time I go down to the cafeteria there is either no food left or no EDIBLE food left. Dishes are never cleaned. Tables are never cleaned. Food is just nasty, crusty, basic and a complete COMPLETE waste of my money. And then I am forced to spend MORE money by eating outside of Dobie. Hate hate HATE their food and DO NOT listen to them if they try to glorify it. They do not care about their residents. They never ask for concerns. They have no such thing as an "open-door policy". Good luck getting a hold of anybody in charge. They will never call you back. They are not helpful. They do not care. They are a bunch of waco-job idiots. They will scam you on deals that you were supposed to receive a year ago. They will give you false bonuses and then reject them because "that was old management and not the way we do things now." Parking was an insane amount of money. The Dobie Garage is disgusting, decrepit, and a place I would avoid at all cost. Never any parking. Smells like a mixture of urine, feces, and death. Don't pay to park there. You're way better off buying an on-campus or garage parking pass. WAY CHEAPER and WAY NICER and WAY SAFER to have your car in. I would never recommend or even wish on my worst enemy the horrible fate of living at the Dobie Center. It is a short cry from Hell and I hope you find housing else where. I don't feel like the reviews here are fair at all. For one, Dobie is way better than on-campus, so for freshmen that miss home, yeah it's going to be very different. There's not mommy to cook for you and it is a cafeteria. And if something is broken you have to take the initiative to get it fixed by contacting maintenance.. shocker. Aside from that, I lived at dobie and loved it. The community is super, way friendlier than on-campus. My first year in the dorms (Kinsolving), I met nobody because everyone in the cafeteria was hesitant to invite you to sit with them (and pretty rude besides). And my friends at Jester said that while you did meet people, the conversations were all small talk and never got anywhere. Well at Dobie, I made a solid group of friends. It's just the perfect size to meet people both on your floor and in the general crowd that lived there.The food wasn't bad at all, and I was prepared for the worst based on reviews. And maintenance actually fixed stuff! The main thing is you should email them directly or go to the front desk and they'll put in an urgent request. So yeah. Dobie is cool. I don't get why people have so much negativity. It's a beautiful view and they just redid like every floor. I'm gonna live there again because I liked it so much. read more

I wish the repairs and maintenance would happen faster; I had to wait two weeks before anyone noticed that my smoke detector was in need of a battery change. Also, the food still needs improvement in terms of quality and freshness and more vegan friendly options. The elevators suck- don't use them unless you live on a seriously high floor. Otherwise it is a waste of time to wait for so long. The RAs are nice, but its still a bit hard to make friends. The rooms could be bigger- actually they should be bigger. Showers leak a lot. The floors have never seemed clean, and the a/c doesn't seem to work on all floors all the time. The location is great, but for that amount of money each month, I would expect a better deal. read more

BEWARE!!! Nothing in the building works. No A/C no heater. Even though the temperature went below freezing nobody cared. The A/C and heater works perfectly fine in the lobby and the cafeteria, then why not in the rooms? They only strive to fix issues in the lobby and maintain their model rooms because that's basically everything that they have to show to the potential "customers" (not residents). The cafeteria always has stale food. They don't throw away the left over from last night instead they mix it with something else and serve it to you the next day. The fresh silverware and plates & bowls always have food stuck on them. I have complained about it a multiple times but nobody seems to care at all. Last week, they had turkey burger patties labelled as meatless garden burger patties. I am strictly vegetarian and I accidentally ate a bite. That's the level of their organization. Not only this, after confronting them about it, the cafeteria and dorm management was unapologetic and seemed like it was a usual thing. When I called a staff member to show him (after video taping as a proof) what they've done, he simply took of the label and said it was a mistake. I demanded a manager on which he told me he won't call the manager and wanted me to go stand at the corner of the cafeteria. I rely on cereals 5 out of 7 nights because they barely have anything at dinner time. But guess what, out of those 5 nights they are either out of cereals or milk a couple nights. read more

I was going to wait until I moved out to update this review, but I really want to protect incoming freshman who might think about signing here. Since my review, my air conditioner has stopped working and my room has hovered around 80 degrees even with 3 fans rolling at all times! I have been told it will take 2 months to resolve the issue. To put that in perspective, if it is 80 degrees in my unit while it is 50-60 degrees outside, by the end of April when they expect it to be fixed, I can expect my room to be much hotter than it currently is (possibly as high as 100 degrees). This isn't a localized issue, either. Large portions of the building lack air conditioning (but never the cafe or lobby!). In addition, the cafeteria situation has worsened. The "clean" plates available are anything except clean. For $300 a month, just go ahead and live on-campus or in North Campus or somewhere else in West Campus where you might at least get to eat off of clean dishes. Perhaps worst of all, management is absolutely useless. They make excuses, talk pretty, smile, and then completely refuse to do anything about issues as they occur. There is always an excuse and, at this point, I just want to protect other people from ending up here (and refunds on my rent because my lease terms aren't being met, but a resident can only wish)! A prime example of management's excuses would be Sam W.'s previous reply. That promise to update residents on floors without laundry services? Well, my laundry still doesn't work and I still haven't been contacted about any plans to change that. It really is just one lie after another here... because I can tell you that not a single promise in that response to my earlier review ever came to fruition! read more

I could spend hours writing about how terrible this place is, but my fellow prisoners have already done that for me. I've been getting my daily cardio in by tossing and turning in discomfort because of the lack of A/C. I'm currently dripping in what appears to be sweat although it could very possibly be tears lol not sure. To any student looking for a place to live near campus...do NOT choose Dobie. I have kept a running list in my phone over the past school year of every horrible thing me and my friends who lived here experienced and I will share them with you now. 1. The mold problem - I guess I got super lucky and my room didn't have any mold, but for my other friends living on different floors, you could visibly see black mold all over the ceilings and walls of their bathrooms. You could smell it too, and it was disgusting. I cannot believe a building that went through a multi-million dollar renovation would allow for a mold problem and do nothing about it. 2. Elevators - the 3 elevators here are a joke. They hilariously added posters and fake wood flooring in them before I moved out to make them look better but they don't work, so what's the point? One of the elevators was broken for almost the entirety of my year long stay, and the other 2 would break down quite frequently, forcing you to either trek up an ungodly amount of stairs or wait for hours in the lobby until they were working again. I would always have to add an extra 15 minutes to my travel time anytime I wanted to go somewhere because I knew the wait for the elevators would be long. 3. There are major inconsistencies with the furniture and look of each room. Some rooms have dirty concrete floors, while others have this weird fake wood flooring. Some beds have shelves next to the dresser units below, and some don't. Some desks have drawers and some don't. Just know that whatever you see in the show rooms or are promised in online photos is probably not what you're going to get. 4. I got lucky and never had issues with the water in my room - I always had cold and hot water available, however I remember in friend's rooms, the hot water that came out of the sink would heat up unbelievably fast and we all burned our hands a few times accidentally turning on the wrong temperature of water. 5. Room assignment mistakes - one of my girl friends was assigned to a room full of boys on accident and another friend who had put she was allergic to dogs was assigned to a room with a dog. Dobie did correct this, but it's insane that these mistakes were even made in the first place. 6. The food - absolutely horrendous. The food was decent for the first couple of weeks, then got increasingly bad from there. Most days you were lucky to find one edible item to eat. It got to the point where me and my friends would just make sandwiches or use the waffle maker because they were the only good options. Imagine paying $300 a month to just live off sandwiches and waffles because all of the food is disgusting. 7. Cable - No one ever informed me or any other resident I knew that we had to go to the front desk to request a cable box. Because cable is listed as an amenity, you figure they would already have everything ready to go in the room for you, but no. After WEEKS of requesting a cable box from the front desk, I finally just gave up and never had cable. 8. There were a couple of times that the Target downstairs was robbed, and there was one confirmed time that the robbers had GUNS. Were Dobie residents informed of this? Nope. I had to find out 2 weeks after the fact from a friend. 9. The thermostats on the wall in each room are fake. They're just there for show, but you can't control the temperature. In the summer, the rooms were so hot I had to have 2 fans on at all times, and in the winter, the rooms were so cold I had to layer 3 blankets on top of me every night and wear my coat while sitting at my desk by the window. One night during the winter, a friend's mom actually called the front desk to ask them if they were going to turn on the heaters and the employee said "they're already on". They were not. They only turned on the heat TWICE during the entirety of winter and it was only for a few days. So they blatantly lied to a parent about that. 10. There are a lot of empty rooms at Dobie and so I think they rent them out to random people like an airbnb situation, because I remember seeing random couples or groups of adults with suitcases coming on and off the elevators for a couple days or a week and then they'd be gone. An old lady with a suitcase once asked for help getting to her floor. The room next to me was empty, and I recall being so freaked out to hear the shower turn on or someone walking around in there whenever a random guest would stay there because I wasn't expecting it. Dobie never informed residents that the dorm was basically doubling as a hotel and it made me feel very unsafe at times. Dobie likes to reel in students with their nicely renovated lobby and show rooms, but these are all fake and a facade they put on to scam people into spending thousands of dollars a year on the worst possible place you can live on UT campus. Please do not fall for the lies and waste your money here. You will regret it. I know I do. read more

I've lived here my first year and would highly recommend having a long stay here! The staff is amazing (shoutout to Javie for help me complete my lease at the beginning of the year) always willing to help and answer all my questions! I really would recommend Dobie because it has a really cool game lounge, pool, and café. Even during a pandemic they really took the precautions to make sure all residents were safe and comfortable. We arrived at the Sonder and promptly ended up stuck in an elevator. Called the property staff and they told us to call Austin FD. As we waited, we were told hotel staff checked on the elevators and ensured they were operational. This obviously didn't happen, considering we were still stuck inside. Eventually Austin FD rescued us. We got a full refund, but the experience was a nightmare. read more

Let me preface this with- I did not want to write a review for this place, but the fact of the matter is that so many things have gone wrong that I can't disregard the matter. I wish I could give this facility zero stars. I have lived in Dobie almost a year, and have already signed my lease for another unit (unfortunately), but my troubles with the facility started way back in October, when I put in a work order for an AC leak. The maintenance staff has always been helpful and kind, and this encounter was no different. They came in with their drainage machine and that was the end of it. What I didn't know at the time was that instead of fixing what could have been a small solution of installing pipes into my sink or tub from the AC unit(a promise that STILL has yet to be done), I went 8 months without AC in Austin. The valves for my AC vents had been shut off to further prevent leaks. So, this was the first strike- keep in mind I have AC now, but the leaks are now happening in both my living room and my bedroom. I put in MULTIPLE maintenance requests, and even was out of town for a week, and I came back, and what I call the 'swamps' of my apartment were still there(and my bathroom was flooded, what a joy to come back home to, right?) Even as I'm typing this, awaiting my move, they're still there. On top of that, in the months of April-June, the electricity problems were unacceptable. Again, sent out multiple maintenance requests before something was actually done about it(they'd fix it and it'd be fixed for 12 hours, then it'd all go out again)- to a point where I had one outlet in my bathroom working and that was it- no one should have to move their kitchen into their bathroom to make food, ya'll. There were then a couple days after that I didn't have electricity at all( but at least I had AC, right?). They eventually got most of the outlets and my lights fixed, although there's still one that remains broken- but not before I had both of my fridges drain completely, and had all of my refrigerated food spoil. I, unlike most residents, only have hot water, it seems. Many of my peers here have trouble getting hot water, but I haven't had cold water since the water pipes were damaged in the New Year (or so I was told). This water, no joke, heats up faster than a tea kettle- and I've made tea. But, nevertheless, flash forward to this Wednesday- I get a knock at the door, and its the traveling property manager and his assistant(because Dobie apparently just lost theirs AGAIN) and they come in, they take a look around, and I tell them everything that's been going on- and they tell me I'll be out of this unit and into my new one by the end of the week. Because of a FEW times the ONE elevator working broke and I had to walk 27 flights of stairs, I had asked for floor 10 or below, which they said they could do. So, as you can imagine, I'm ecstatic. I'm packing, so excited to finally move into a hopefully functional unit- as I'm paying an insane amount of money at this point for the way this unit has treated me, and the issues that have ensued- and I wait. And it's Saturday morning, I'm getting sick, and I'm still living here. The worst part, and possibly the biggest reason I'd say to steer clear of this half renovated faced trophy building thats STILL falling apart, is the fact that as of two days ago, I can SEE mold in my ceiling. If you're unfamiliar with how dangerous that is, do a quick google search- you'll find out two things, off the bat- 1) If you can SEE the mold, no matter the strain, it means there is more, and 2) depending on the strain, and depending on if your personal allergen history, it can be deadly. So, I called the front desk asking when I could move out, as I had been promised, and I told them the situation and who promised me this, and I was told the Property Manager I saw was a traveling one and that he only came in certain times of the week- which is fine- so I was given the email of someone who doesn't work until Monday. I've emailed her, and I'm under the impression that I'm still going to have to wait until Monday to speak with anyone who can give me the key to my new apartment. Last night I didn't feel safe sleeping in my bedroom because my friend and I could SMELL the mold. If you are a parent of a student thinking this space a good idea- please reconsider. If you are a student thinking that the "image" that Dobie is so desperately trying to create is enough for you, please reconsider. The fact of the matter is that this building cannot receive the maintenance that it needs, nor can the people running it keep up with its residents- and I think it's insane that they can even rent out Airbnb's here, I might add- but I assure you enough cleaning/painting crews have tried to mistakenly get into my apartment to know that SOMEONE is getting fair treatment- and it's not the people signing leases. read more

Don't believe the hype! Dobie may have undergone a multimillion-dollar renovation. That may be true, but it needs millions more. The pictures are on the website are all aesthetically pleasing, but they don't' tell the real story. The problem is the infrastructure. You or your child will have many regretful days and nights, as the HVAC was definitely not updated. It's some type of outdated chilled water or similar unit that they continue to patch, patch, patch, but not sufficiently upgrade or replace. If you are okay with staying in an okay looking place from an aesthetic perspective but be miserable from the lack of adequate AC then go ahead and jump in. I can assure you that my problem is not an isolated one. I knew many co-residents that experienced similar problems. Additionally, the thermostats in most of the rooms don't work. You can put them on high or low, and the temperature doesn't change. For some reason they have to cut the water off for several hours several times a week for "maintenance". The problem is when they do that, the AC also doesn't work and it gets really humid in your room. I've placed many maintenance request and they attempt to fix or address the problems as best they can, but as mentioned they just continue to patch the problems only to have a very similar issue to occur days or weeks later. They can't fix the outdated AC / HVAC. Another huge problem is the elevators. You really have to plan your day differently around the wait times to get an elevator. Oh, did I mention that 1 of the 2 seems to breakdown very frequently causing significant wait times that can easily top 10 -15 minutes during peak hours. I wish I could post some pictures of the crowds of residents waiting for elevators. The sight of that alone will raise your blood pressure. There have been days when both elevators are out of order for hours. No a big deal if you stay on one of the lower floors as you can walk the stairs, but Dobie has 27 floors. Imaging trying to walk up or down for that matter 27 floors. I have had friends that physically can't walk more than a couple of floors and have had to wait for hours in the lobby until an elevator is repaired. Oh, the cable TV issue is a joke. No one is helpful. Netflix or some Internet based service is your best bet. I went the whole year without cable TV, which for me isn't a huge deal, but when it's advertised as an amenity you expect it. Again, parents you will save yourself and your student/child many sleepless nights worrying. College itself can be a very trying time just managing the course work. When you add in the stress of an uncomfortable and unpredictable living environment it becomes a living nightmare. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK! read more

*Please avoid Dobie for your own sake.* Pros: - Location: Close to The Drag and campus. - Housekeeping services: Every Friday, your floors and bathroom will be cleaned. - Patio/game room: Spacious. - Most RAs are very nice. - Security is nice. Cons: - As I'm writing this, only one elevator is currently working. *For a 27-floor dorm building.* It takes forever to reach my floor and is super crowded. I've had numerous experiences of the elevator dropping, doors not opening, and floors being skipped entirely. - I lived with 3 other people and paid $950 a month. This rent included a tiny space and a meal plan with gross food. - CORNER QUAD (2x2) WAS NOT ACCURATELY SHOWN OR DESCRIBED ON THE TOUR. *The model room is decorated well. On tour, they tell you what isn't included, but don't show you what your room will look like. Your room is dull, dark, and grey. There is a tiny window so you can see a bit of the outside world. They should show you ON TOUR what your room will ACTUALLY look like. They aren't customer-centric. Just very focused on selling rooms even if that means less-than-honest advertising. *My room is a LOT smaller than the model room (felt like 2/3 the size). How big your bedroom is depends on where your closet is placed. My walk-in closet was in my room and made the room tiny. Some rooms just have a wooden bar as a closet. You don't know which room you'll have until move-in day. - They say the walls and floors are thick, but I constantly heard thuds around me. I called the front desk multiple times to get the person above me to turn their alarm clock off. Sometimes, they helped. Other times, they didn't. - There is NOT a study room on every floor. - You have to pay $35 to get into YOUR OWN ROOM after hours. - The cafe has limited options and tastes awful. - Move in process was chaotic, tense, and unhelpful. - The washer/dryers suck. I have been overcharged because the busted payment system glitched and ordered me to pay again mid-cycle to continue with the wash. You have to call the washer/dryer company for a refund. Many machines are broken so have fun checking each floor for an available machine. I have had to walk up four floors multiple times with a heavy basket of clothes. - They advertised free printing and paper before move-in. After move-in, they said you have to bring paper. - WiFi is terrible, slow, and unreliable. WiFi is on every OTHER floor, so good luck getting signal. - Maintenance orders take forever to finish. My roommate and I had a flooded toilet with feces and urine on the bathroom floor. The floor absorbs liquid, too. We were initially told to put in a work order. They didn't respond after five days. Eventually, they let us expedite the work order through an emergency maintenance request. - The chairs in the rooms are rocking chairs that easily stub feet. The tables and chairs outside have uneven legs. Get some slippers, your feet will feel like they are in a war zone. My parents and friends also stubbed their toes. - NO overnight guests. - Bluetooth connectivity sucks, so good luck trying to use their wireless mice with the Mac computers. - Shower is always leaking water. - I wrote an honest review on the ResidentPortal when they requested feedback. They randomly called me to come into my room, take photos, and possibly change rooms. Move to another horrid room? Why not fix the room? - AC leaked during the winter and spring months, causing three lumps to sag off the ceiling. Great infrastructure. - Refrigerator and cabinets are tiny and can barely hold four people's worth of food. - Weird room design despite their "renovation." There's a random space in the living room near the window area. It could have been included in the actual bedroom, but no. The bedroom I got was tiny. - Laundry room is a garbage collection room too, so it always smells disgusting and has bugs. - Bathtub is scratched up and stained. My bathroom was so tiny. - The outdoor spaces and lobby area look great, but the actual rooms look like cemented cages. EDIT: Samantha, Of course it is impossible to model every single floor plan. However, I was not given fair information on exactly what I would be moving in to. NO ONE told me the rooms would differ so much or that I would possibly not have a study lounge on my floor. I did use your website and found ZERO photos of what my room would ACTUALLY look like. The ones I found were GLORIFIED and MISLEADING photos with bright decorations. The actual rooms are DULL, DUSTY, and BLAND. Friends that have come over describe it as a prison dorm. I find your response very apathetic and condescending considering your colleagues mislead my family and I prior to signing my lease. The alternate study places you listed are noisy and crowded. Why are you telling residents what to do instead of fixing your building? I personally do not enjoy the food and many others also do not enjoy it. Improve your space. It is barely livable. read more

Pros: Friendly RAs and staff. Great location near campus. Much cheaper rates than other nearby apartments. The new property manager, Eric, is very friendly and responsive to customer complaints. There is a Target conveniently located below the building. Cons: Elevators are often broken. Others have reported problems with heater and A/C but I never experienced any such issues. read more

Dobie is a great place. I lived there on Fall 87', room 2304. Believe it or not it was red bricked back then. In 1988 they removed the brick and added the blue glass. I took a tour recently and its much better now, great location nearly on campus. I would say they need to update the dobie garage...it looks exactly the same, very creepy!!!. The Mall underneath needs to be gutted, maybe drop in some popular restaurants or maybe even turn it into some sort of study room for the residents. Seems like a waste of space. Otherwise Dobie is great with views of the city. I remember my room looking down at the capital. Great memories there!!!! read more

I constantly put in a work order form, for someone to do something about the a/c in my room, but no one has ever showed up. I have complained about this ever since 8/26/16 but still no one has done anything. They must put there work order forms in the dumpster or something. read more

The place looks good but don't let this get you. This place totally sucks. Don't waste your money. AC doesn't work (most of the times), elevators always braking down. Cafeteria hours were changed, now it is closed for 6 hours a day and we are still charged the same. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here otherwise you will regret it. read more

Have enjoyed the student giveaways and free snacks! And the Dobie is in a great central location and close to many different places to eat in downtown Austin. Love my view of the UT Tower and football stadium as well. read more

To say this place is okay is giving it way to much credit, the a/c never works! It's always so hot in my rooms, don't even get me started on the fact that the elevator is broken 75% of the time! Living here has made my experience in Austin not as fun and great as I was hoping for they give you an awful time if you try to end your lease and the food is disgusting (looks like kindergarten lunch food) don't live here if you have the choice read more

Quick update! 8/21/14: I moved in temporarily as a Pointe on Rio resident since the Pointe won't be completed on time and there were fruits flies all over my room. I was told the problem was fixed but, 3 days later, I have collected 8 dead fruits flies on the mirror in front of my sink! At least Dobie's staff won't tell at you for filing a maintenance request! Original review: I don't know what Shannon is talking about. Aside from the solid group of friends, this place is not too great. Once you get passed it's shiny glass facade it's easy to see why this place never fills up with leases. I lived here my freshman year and found roach while moving in (on the 13th floor) so I knew it was bad. The lighting is HORRIBLE and sketchy, the water was always breaking, there was not hot water on multiple occasions throughout the winter and good luck if you get hot because the AC isn't the best. There are SO many different options around campus so save yourself the time with trying to deal with this place. Also, my suite-mate threw up all over his room and they made us clean it up so I would be careful walking around the rooms because you never know what might have happened with the dilapidated carpet before you moved in! We heard bad things about this place and they are all correct. Worst and most disorganized move in. No signs to tell people where to go. Delivery of beds blocked all the hallways. The elevator is a disaster not to mention no ramps to access sidewalk. Management needs to get to work sleeping on the job. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dobie. My sister is in her second year at UT and recently dealt with some issues that required reassignment to another unit. We reached out to management and spoke with Andrew Peet and Becky Bowser. Within a few days, my sister was moving into a new unit. Andrew and Becky both worked diligently to make sure that the transition went smooth. As a UT graduate myself, I've lived in several apartment complexes on West Campus. However, in my experience, none of those other properties were as flexible and efficient as Dobie. If you're looking for the best housing option near UT campus, Dobie is the place. It has been an institution for a very long time, perhaps because of people like Andrew and Becky. Consider Dobie, pay them a visit, and see for yourself why Dobie is the best housing option. read more

The building is too old to the point any part of it can break down at any moment. I stayed here for 1 year and wished I had chosen a different place. The AC is weak and literally does not cool down the room. Sometimes it even blows out humid air. The hot water is terrible, it takes 20 minutes of running the water for hot water to come. I and my roommate have sent multiple work orders on the issue and they were still not fixed until the day I left. The maintenance staff have very poor practice: they knock on the door and do not wait for you to come open it, they just unlock your door 2 seconds after without a care. When they install some new appliances or patch a wall, they leave a mess in the room without cleaning it up (dust, dirt, etc.). The bathroom has no ventilation, every time someone finishes a shower it is a swamp in there for hours. The only thing that is good is the front lobby which is not saying anything much. read more

I have figured out the reason why it is cheap. The air conditioner in my room never works!!! A cockroach died in the hallway on my floor for 2 weeks and no one cleaned it. The food offered in the cafe is terrible. And u r forced to pay for the dinning fee, which is 300 dollars per month. read more

There is a reason why they removed the reviews from their Facebook page. Terrible food (ever since they switched management), often runs out, lots of cutting corners, maintenance takes forever to come, elevators take forever to go downstairs, AC/Heaters broken, rooms are small and dreary. Oh, and did I mention that you can get ALL of this for the low low LOW price of $900 per month? Pray to god that neither you or anyone you know is unfortunate enough to live here. read more

**DISCLAIMER: This is not a review of the facilities or living situation, but rather the customer service (or lack thereof) of not only this facility but the management company that owns it.** I was in town for business and attemped to reserve conference rooms at this facility. Initially, someone responded immediately and said they could definitely accomoadate us, but after that became quite unresponsive. They responded immediately then only followed up once saying they would call me, and never did. I have followed up multiple times, even calling the mobile phone of the manager that he provided, and the mailbox was full. We exchanged a couple emails and he apologized for being busy, but I didn't hear from him again. I emailed the facility's management company to see if there was someone else I could contact (I had both the individual and the general info email on my emails and NO ONE had gotten back to me). It's one thing to never respond, but it's another to respond intermittently and have a potential customer think that they'll be able to book a space with you; I could have searched a little harder for other alternatives but stopped because I was getting at least some response. Regardless of whatever industry you're in, customers should NOT have to keep following up. If you want business, you have to act like a business. This was completely unprofessional. If you're looking to do business here, I recommend finding somewhere else. read more
