This is my favorite location!! My friend and I came in on a lazy Sunday and a little hungover... We wound up getting the guacamole and filet sandwich. It was so fresh and delicious!! The guacamole comes out a little chunky with an amazing flavor and too many sweet potato chips to even think of... it paired wonderfully! The steak sandwich has to be a top on the menu, the steak literally melts in your mouth and is so nicely paired with the kale slaw and sauce... so at the end of the meal, I was paying with reward dollars, which would have confused many... but Taylor (I think she's the manager here, and if she isn't, she should be promoted) was amazing. My wife and I have ordered take out several times since November and mostly are happy every time we order. The tuna, chopped and Chinese salads are all solid orders. The menu is terrific and so is the customers service. It's priced for downtown Chicago so the value is pretty good except for maybe some of the sides like the fries. Low food cost, very high prices, very skimpy portion. They are not always consistent. I have had great cucumber salad and I have had portions that are just lousy with onion and old onion flavor like they forgot to rinse them and then went off recipe. I have ordered the carnitas sandwich and couple times. The first one was amazing and the 2nd one was dried out but then buried in fat to hide it. We're going to keep ordering. We still like this place but it's never going to be 5-star without some polishing. read more

I think I would give this a 3.5-4 stars. Food was solid for what it is but I'm realizing I can't just give everything four stars haha. We shared the guacamole which was fresh and tasty. I got the west coast steak sandwich which was filet mignon on a nice buttered toasted bun with kale and a nice Parmesan/Cesar dressing. The flavors worked nicely and it was really tasty. I got the sweet potato fries on the side which were also nice and thick. Could be a little crispier if I wanted to be super picky but they were good!! I think the friends I came with all liked their meals as well. My friend has the #1 tuna salad and that looked quite tasty and fresh. My other friend got a plain burger (sorry I can't remember the name) which looked less appetizing than the one with the egg on it. Another friend had their special with the lobster roll and that looked pretty damn good. Wok bowl was also reported to be good by our other friend. Overall. It was delicious and given the fancy location of the restaurant, I thought it'll be super pricey but it is approximately $15-20 per person. Servers are friendly and quick! The only issue I thought was that the tables are very close to one another so I could hear every detail of the two girls chatting at the next table. Overall, cool place! This is one of my favorite places I went to on my trip to Chicago. Tennessee hot chicken: A MUST!! The best dish we ordered. Its more of a sweet barbecue (sorta) flavor. When it came out, it was crispy, hot and delicious!!! You won't regret it! Barbecue ribs: The bones came out so easily. If you are craving ribs, this will definitely satisfy your craving. The two dishes, chicken and ribs, will not disappoint you! We also got a salad to share- the #1 Tuna Salad. It comes with ahi tuna and I was doubting the tuna would be fresh, but IT WAS!!! It's quite easy to go above $20, $30, or even more for dinner in River North if you're going to a nice sit-in restaurant. Fortunately, Doc B's offers a good number of sandwich and burger options which aren't exactly cheap, but they provide a good value for portion size and flavor in this part of town. I tried The Homage and Crispy Chicken Sandwich here with fries and sweet potato fries. The burger was cooked to perfection here with a lightly seasoned patty and surprisingly crispy exterior. The meat was so flavorful that the onions and cheddar hardly distracted from the strong beef taste. The crispy chicken sandwich was probably even better than the burger. The large piece of chicken was breaded and seasoned perfectly then cooked to perfection where the juices from the chicken were contained nicely. The cole slaw was light and delicious and added great texture contrast to the chicken which was served with a delicious honey mustard dressing. The fries and sweet potato fries were alright... showcasing the quality of the ingredient with light seasoning, although both could've been a bit more crispy. But the quality of the burger and the chicken sandwich already stole the show and warrants a return visit to this restaurant to try their other culinary delights. read more

Main drawback was the staff. They were so busy talking to each other we felt ignored. Our server spent more time talking with the two managers than anything else. I'm not even sure what the managers really did either except shoot the breeze with all the staff. Multiple times they were all so engrossed in their conversations they overflowed filling up water pitchers at the prep station. My steak was cooked a perfect medium and the loaded baked potato served with scallions, cheese, bacon, butter and sour cream could've been a meal by itself. Everything tasted great! always delicious, never disappoint, well the ribs are kind of questionable but the salad under it is really delicious with all the new restaurants popping up I always find Doc B as my safe go to if I don't want to wait hours for good food. Ever since I tried their chicken breast once i've been a big fan. the price is reasonable, and the food is delicious. their chicken nuggets (not the exact name on menu but I forgot what it was called) is golden and juicy, but has a crispy bite on the outside. the food is just so consistently well done! maybe a bit less creativity on the bbq sauces We ordered the bbq ribs and the chicken came with a side of bbq dip as well. they r 2 different sauces and both tasted a bit fusion. the ribs basically had no meat on it. it was like 2 lbs of bones and 2 ounces of meat lol and the sauce has a very strong chinese five spice flavor to it which clashes strongly with the sauce. the salad below it is really delicious. tangy, nutty, crispy. quite honestly I think this is the most consistent and best quality restaurant around at least that block. read more

This is a high-quality place with lots of variety and fresh-tasting food. I've tried the food on a couple of occasions and enjoyed the chicken parmesan and a chicken teriyaki noodle bowl. Delivery was efficient and the food came hot. The chicken parm breading was super crispy and the chicken itself was tender and juicy. The sauce and cheese were flavorful and the portion was plentiful. I would get that again, no question. The chicken wok out bowl had the perfect amount of sauce and not too sweet for a teriyaki, which I liked. There was a good amount of chicken and the noodles were chewy as they should be. The overall dish also wasn't too overseasoned or heavy. I would come back to try more in the future. Everything I've tried has been delicious and worth trying again. read more

Doc B's is definitely one of my fav. Lunch spots when I'm working down town. You HAVE to order the guac and chips (they're sweet potato chips!) So delicious! Their knife and fork Cobb is my go to. It come with crispy chicken but it can be swapped out for blackened or girlies. Great honey mustard dressing and their version of ranch is the ish especially when you dip fries into it! They also have a pretty good happy hour. $10 guac and chips, $7 drafts, $8 glasses of select red and white wines. I've never had a bad experience- the staff is lovely and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. For lunch they are always able to get us in and out in under an hour which makes it a winner in my book! read more

I added beef and the sweet spicy Thai sauce, the salad was very good, I'd ordered it again. The waitress who is usually good didn't come back and give me water croutons stale and the guy said they were fresh. Not a big place but it has a big kitchen on display, and they turn out good food. We were looking for something casual with good food, and we found it. My wife loves the guacamole and I see why. It comes with sweet potato chips. They have a great selection of salads and sandwiches, but there also are some fancier entrees like trout and salmon. We had a great burger, nice Cajun fish sandwich and a loaded baked potato. The potato could have had more sour cream. A nice finish was the gelato sandwich.
