Doc Motor Works Auto Repair truly saved us on Black Wednesday -- the Wednesday before Thanksgiving -- and I can't say enough good things about them. We were on our way out of town when one of our tires suddenly lost pressure. It was around 5:30pm, most places were closing at 6, and panic quickly set in. We first pulled into a nearby Tuffy to try filling the tire, but as the air went in, we could hear it coming right back out. Frantically looking around, I noticed Doc Motor Works next door and ran in about 10 minutes before closing. They must have seen the desperation on my face because Scott, the owner, was incredibly kind right away. The two gentlemen working with him were just as wonderful. They immediately took our car back and discovered not one, but two nails in the tire -- thankfully both were in spots that could be patched. While they worked quickly and efficiently, we waited inside where they have the coolest kids' area. My son literally said, "This is the best day ever!" The entire experience felt like one of those moments that restores your faith in people. Scott and his team were fast, professional, compassionate, and genuinely caring. I had a terrible experience at this shop and want to warn other car owners. I came in for a simple oil change on my car, which was supposed to cost $50 with a coupon. Before starting, the shop tried to upsell me over $1,000 in "recommended" repairs, including belts, battery, and spark plugs, which I declined. Then, after they drained my oil, they told me the oil filter cap was broken and said they couldn't finish the job unless I paid for a replacement. They claimed it had been "previously overtightened by another shop," but provided no proof that the damage wasn't done by them during the oil change. The oil filter cap is right next to the drain plug, so if it was really broken beforehand, they should have noticed that before draining the oil. At that point, my car had no oil and couldn't be driven, so I was basically forced to pay over $200 just to get my car back from a regular oil change. This felt like a pressure tactic and extremely unprofessional. If there was truly an issue with the part, they should have shown me before touching anything. Instead, I was put in a situation with no choice but to pay more than four times the agreed price. They charged me $4700 to fix an oil leak, but my car still leaks oil. I took it back and they blamed previous mechanics and told me I should just sell the car. They did not fix the car for me and then refused to talk to me. I was turned over to the so called auto director whose job seemed to be intimidation. He told me my car had a new oil leak which they were not responsible for after having driven just 100 miles. Since they worked on it twice I brought the car elsewhere and they confirmed it was leaking oil from all the places they supposedly repaired. They also played bait and switch with me and tried to charge me $470 for a battery with a $300 charge to install. I am a senior citizen in ill health which they were fully aware of. If I could give this establishment a zero rating I would. On our first visit last fall my wife was called back after her maintenance visit while in Target because their staff forgot to put the top plastic engine cover back on the engine of her Toyota Sequoia. We were both off over the holidays and in need of oil changes so I decided to give Doc Motor Works another try. We scheduled two oil changes for her Toyota Sequoia and my Prius on Dec 28 at 9am. We sat in the waiting room for 2.5hrs when I asked on the progress of our vehicles because we had obligations around the noon hour. I was informed that only one car was completed as of 11:30am. I said that was fine and paid for the services for the Sequoia and we left and said I'll come back and get the Prius by the end of the day. After a day or so I drive my car to the gas station to top it with fuel. I noticed there was no maintenance reminder sticker on my windshield that I normally receive with a oil change but that's not a big deal. So as I was filling my car with fuel I popped my hood to verify that fluids were topped and left in satisfactory condition after said services. Upon raising of the hood I found a blue shop rag left behind by a maintenance technician waiting to be sucked into a belt or fan. I also noticed that my windshield washer solvent tank was dry as a bone after I was invoiced and charged for solvent. Based on the findings I found with my car I figured I better raise the hood of my wife's car to make sure there wasn't any pit traps. The first thing I noticed was the negative side of the battery terminal was badly corroded and failed to be addressed or mentioned by this service center. It was a no crank condition waiting to happen. Also oil was spilled down the full tube and on side of engine due to carelessness filling. And of course the windshield solvent tank was only half full and wasn't filled by the dealer. They must have been fresh out of solvent that day. Based on my experience and findings I wouldn't take a Briggs and Stratton powered lawn mower to these clowns. I contacted them last week and explained the findings and they have not got back to even apologize. I figured I would give them a change to explain the lackluster services before writing a negative review. Beware! They put on a big dog and pony show like they run a tight knit professional business, but it's actually quite the opposite. Beware of this business!!! I go to Doc's for all my auto care needs. They do excellent work, they are very thorough if they find anything else that needs attending to the vehicle. Reasonable prices, not to mention there's always coupons in the mail so there's opportunity for savings especially during these hard financial times. Everyone's super friendly, especially front desk personnel. Management also presents themselves from time to time so they are very involved and hands on. I just recently had the same experience like fellow yelper "Michelle G." This is my second time patronizing this establishment. I called to make an appointment to perform a schedule maintenance check. I was give a time of Tuesday morning 8:30 am to drop it off. I dropped it off and asked the lady how long to run the check. She said they will text you with what's wrong with the car. I waited and waited thinking they must have a lot of customer or just being thorough. So no one text or even called until I called at 5:14pm inquiring about my vehicle. I get texted a link for my estimate at 5:27pm then finally a call at 5:42pm. He told me my inspection was called inspection lite or something. In the back of my mind it takes all day to do an inspection lite hate to see what an involved inspection take or maybe cause it was no charge for the check whatever. Anyways. I approved a selection of services to perform on my vehicle the next day. One being a coolant drain and flush. I called back a number time throughout the day asking for updates and adding additional service. Finally last call back was at 1:38pm was told service was complete. I told the service advisor I couldn't pick it up, that I pick it up the next day. Picked up my vehicle the next afternoon and paid my bill. Look over the sent link and stated just a drain and fill was performed. I called back and spoke with Allen. I asked him about the service and get this "I forgot to mention that to you when you were here." He said.....and went on to state that the companies flush machine adapters can't fit my car therefore a flush wasn't performed per say. So final thoughts.... 1. Why does it take a whole afternoon to get an estimate? 2. If a service can't be fully performed, Why not inform customer to ask proceed or not? 3. If vehicle needs to be flushed down the road again then what did I pay for? Anyways I'll end here three days at Doc Motors and a car that was half serviced in my mind. Scott the owner has 16 year working on Toyota's but his establishment can't perform a coolant flush on guess everyone "MY TOYOTA". Would not recommend them my 72 yr old father in law stayed at my house while we were out of town he had a shake in his steering wheel when he hit his brakes he brought the truck to them and asked if they could check his brakes, they didn't touch the brakes but charged him $1,800 for things he didn't need, when he picked his truck up and was unhappy with what happened they lied to him and told him the owner Scott wasn't there when he was actually standing right there when my father in-law approached him he said well your car has over 100k on it , so he took it to the dealership and they fixed the front brakes for $480 and the problem went away, my father in-law is a 72 yr old vet and I feel these people really took advantage of him and didn't even fix the problem, it's terrible to see the things people will do to make a dollar read more

1965 Ford Falcon My experience was not as great as I had hoped. Scott introduced himself and I told him of my auto problems. My mechanics were booked solid for a few more weeks. Told him I had a vintage auto with a more updated engine. Assured me that he had a few guys that worked on the older ones. I had it brought in on a flatbed and called a few times to get updates and to add a few things to check on that being a resto-mod classic car. There is a group of guys that have the same car and engine lineup as mine and I participated with Alan to give him a few things to look at since the were looking at the computer. Since they did not know where the OOBD1 port was they were looking at pulling in a Ford expert who was able to build a breakout box to test the computer. At this time I was already $248 and nothing notably was found wrong. I was also told I was a pain in the ass for calling daily on the prognosis. Alan said he would get back to me. The next day was told the cost would be I believe around $350 ( I might be off a few) for the Ford expert just to take a gamble it was the computer. I would now be at around $600 and that was not assuring it would help. I refurbished module is around $650 and then of course labor. Potentially I was looking at close to $1200....... At this point I arranged to pay my bill and have my car put on a flatbed and taken to a different location. My total bill was $356 and my car was in the same situation as when I had it pulled in. Nobody called, asked why, no follow up to understand what could be done. My usual mechanics made room and took it in. I got a call about an hour later that the computer was indeed bad and I had a regulator that needed to be replaced and a hose that might have been letting in air. Computer was diagnosed in 15 minutes when they opened it and saw that 2 blue capacitors were blown and leaking on the board. These capacitors signal the pulse to spray the injectors with gas. It did not take a Ford expert to connect to anything. It took my usual mechanic with a screwdriver to open the lid and find the problem which was relayed to Alan when it was brought in that this very well could be something to look into straight away. I am not upset but out of a few hundred dollars to "poke" at the issue instead of listening. It was made known that this was a different situation. It was not. It was simply a 1993 Mustang motor in a different chassis. Problem would have been equal had it been in a 1993 Mustang body. No port or special expert was needed here. Print your receipts. Keeps your quotes...Just go someplace else or prepare to be overcharged. I approved an axel replacement for $700 (and change). Docs Motor Works ordered the part and about 5 days later I dropped off my van for repair. That day, DMW called me to say the axel had 2 parts and only 1 part of the new axel was received so pick up time pushed back 1 day. No problem. Repair happens. I show up to pay and now the bill is $1010.00! They said the 2nd part of the axel had a cost but failed to notify me prior to completing the repair. The office manager was out. They appeared to be training a new employee...it was chaotic! I pay the $1010 with the understanding that someone needs to call me about the overbilling. Several phone messages left but no call back yet and this was over a month ago. Aslo, the car battery they recommended I replace (quoted/declined $278) was delivered and installed by AAA 3 months later for $198 - $80 less. Price changes have to be promptly communicated and $300 is well over the 10% gap on quotes. I'm also not a fan of my car's details going to Carfax.com and I do not recall authorizing that. I was hoping to find a trustworthy mechanic near my home but DMW is NOT it. It cost me $200 being nice and accepting the "we've been in business for years... Save yourselves! read more

Zero stars for this shitty business. Took ford explorer there to see what was wrong with it. They wanted 1500 to change water pump, thermostat assembly, radiator flush. Than charges 70$ just to tell me that. People here are scumbags and are just trying to take your money . Paid 80$ for water pump and 200$ to install .280$ compared to their 1500$. I brought my 2011 VW cc to Docs Motor Works to repair an oil leak and was charged $4700. I am a senior citizen and was having health issues at the time, so I went along with it even though it seemed exorbitant. The repair is under warranty, but they will not even speak to me about honoring it. I have filed complaints with The Attorney Generals Office and The Better Business Bureau, but they have no authority to force compliance. My only option is legal action which is impractical and time consuming. It is a shame their is no recourse for customers who are treated unfairly. read more

Brought my Audi to Docs based on good online reviews. My first experience here has so far cost me 5 days of missed work, 3 tows back to Docs, 2 repairs and about $2k of invoices and my car STILL DOES NOT RUN. I feel like this has been a trial and error of parts swapping at my expense. Not only am I still without transportation, I'm not getting paid with unpaid time off of work and I'm being told this is just a coincidence of bad luck from the mechanics. Insurance doesn't cover mechanical issues or a rental car. This fiasco is costing me income from not being able to get to work while also costing me in experimental "repairs". Save a whole lot of time and money by avoiding this place at all cost. I took my car here because my car wouldn't start and I needed a new starter. I got a call the next day and a invoice informing me that the final price of the whole job would be $1,600! On the online invoice I declined to have the work done when I was called again later in the day asking if I declined the work, when I said yes I did decline, he tried to tell me that on the phone call I approved the work and that he was "almost finished" with the job. I had my car towed back to my house when I saw they couldn't bother to put the fuse cover back, found a random fuse clip in my trunk, and now my key fob doesn't work at all. Went to Doc Motors for the first time for a simple oil change and I was blown away. First, the waiting room; not just one room but a few. They had snacks, bottles of water, FREE WI-FI, a tv area with comfy arm-chairs and a decent flat screen, a reading area with magazines, and a huge kids play area, which is a big plus for any parent! There's literally so much you can do to occupy yourself while you wait. I was not bored! Second, the service; Ray greeted me at the desk and was very welcoming. He was very informative and HONEST. He wasn't pushy and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. He was up front and honest about my car's health and needs and got me just what I needed. Very impressed. Also, once my car was done, I INSTANTLY got a text with a link that showed a very easy to read guide of my inspection and tips to keep my car the healthiest it can be with ACTUAL PICTURES of what is under my hood. I know exactly what to look out for and what I need to keep in mind for my next visit! I was in and out in maybe 45 minutes and my car was running great! Had the absolute worst customer service experience I have ever encountered with the service Manager that sits in the front desk to the office on the left of entrance. I have been coming to Scott's shop for over 4 years and I have had conversations with office staff regarding oil changes coupons and I was told that they would honor the coupons even if I did not bring them in. Well today I had an oil change scheduled and the fore said Manager asked if I had my coupon with me and I explained that I was under the impression that I did not need to bring one in anymore and that it was in the system. He told me that I have to have the coupon in order to receive the discount. I told him that I would just go somewhere else and at that time I turned away to walk out. He called me back to the desk and began to ask "why I just can't bring in the coupon, everyone else does, so why can't you". I explained to him that I thought it was already set up that I no longer had to bring one in. He said you have to just like everyone else. I told him not to belittle me when he is talking to me. At that point he stood up and stepped from behind the desk walked up to me and got into my face and told me to leave. I then asked to leave by the other service manager. Which I did, but not without telling them that you lost 6 vehicles because of coupon great business decision. An amazing Auto Shop with top notch service and a high level of expertise. I took my Nissan in for a general inspection as I had a check engine light come on and I felt like I was more at home than a mechanic shop. When I arrived Scott checked me in right away and offered me some snacks/drinks. They have separate spaces (an office, tv area and kids play area) where their clients can relax and unwind as the techs complete a through inspection. I was blown away when I received a text message with a link of my inspection report from the shop. It illustrated what was wrong with my vehicle and had detailed images of what they found. Gary was very thorough in explaining what needed to be done, and even let me know what was priority and what could wait. I thought that was great as I could not afford to do everything at once. I've been coming to Doc Motor Works since last fall. It's a great place for oil changes because there are toys and games for my son, tons of reading material, a large TV and snacks and coffee. They told me back in October about a couple issues that should be fixed on my car but didn't use scare tactics. They said sooner is better but the problems could wait until the work was in my budget. Apparently I waited a bit too long because my engine light went on this morning. They got me right in (even though it was a service that would take 4 hours), fixed the issue and got me back my car right on time. I called Monday and asked about an oil change, they told me I could schedule later in week. I scheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd at 10:00am. I arrived at 10am. pThe front desk girl, the guy at the other desk and a customer we're all there with no masks on. The front desk girl asked if I wanted to wait or drop off? I asked how long? She said 1 hour to 1.5 hours. I said," drop off, I'll be back. At 1:36 pm, (3hrs and 36 mins later) I called because I had not heard anything and asked was my vehicle ready, I was told no. The same lady said got on the phone and said waiters aka people who sit and wait, come first. So now I'm like ok. So I'm trying to be patient. They finally send the vehicle report to my phone at 3:28pm. Still no call at this point. I called because I'm looking at my vehicle inspection and it says I'm due for somethings. So this leaves me with questions..... 1. Why not tell me that if I drop off my vehicle, that my appointment is not honored any longer? Or that if I wait I would be made a priority? 2. Why not call and tell me that it's taking a little longer than usual because we are down a technician or whatever the case is? 3. Why send a vehicle inspection (which I love the idea of it), but not follow up with a call asking if I want the work done today? Or asking me to schedule the work for another day? Original Service Date 1/27/2017 returned for same issue 3/21/17 While performing repairs to my vehicle they accidently tore a hole in the exhaust pipe while attempting to remove the oxygen sensor. Instead of admitting this was caused by a mistake they took the position to charge me $163.75 for the repair. I investigated the situation and recognized the fact that it was caused in error by them and explained what they did that caused it. Throughout they displayed an overweening position but, after much discussion they conceded and agreed to splitting those costs they deemed appropriate. My portion was $81.75 for their mistake plus parts. Since the repair was only costing them an in-house labor they still made money and I lost money $113.12 to be exact. If this is not enough a couple of months later the same lights came on the dash. On 3/21/17 I returned to them believing they would at least diagnose the situation. I called the day before thinking maybe they would take a quick look. l and was told I had to make an appointment and did for 8am on 3/21/17. When I arrived I was the first customer but told they would not get to me for a while and I can wait or choose to come back with no definite time I found this to be unprofessional. I chose to take my vehicle home to remove a few items and came back 30 minutes later. When I returned I told them I was under the impression that when an appointment was made it was typically within a few minutes the vehicle was seen and was wondering why I was told it would take a while to get it in. The response was made up of self serving assumptions, inaccurate quotes, made up rhetoric, while defending a lame position. I left my vehicle there only to later get a call saying they could not be for sure what the problem was without spending more time and that time would have to be paid for by me $174.92 . They believed it was a brake vacuum booster that would cost $1130 plus the diagnostic fee and another fee coming to $174.92 grans total $1294.92 Their position is that they charge the customer a diagnostic fee under the assumption that they are not at fault. (Their words) They wanted $174.92 just to see if it was their fault. They said they would make the repair and wave the charge if it was determined by them that the issue was related to their previous work on the vehicle. Sound suspicious? To top it all off, when I decided I would not have them perform the work and went to pick the car up they insisted I sign a zero dollars invoice. I questioned signing it because the first clause indicated they would have the right to text me via automated technology and I did not want that and It was for zero dollars so why sign. Ray instantly displayed a face of disgust huffing said, fine don't sign. I expect some lame attempt to excuse this all away somehow with false quotes and made up talk about how great they are,how honest they are and, how they bent over backwards for me somehow. I fell for the line of good reviews but I think maybe the issues my vehicle presented them was out of their league and their arrogance led them to frustration and this unprofessional behavior. This is not good business. I will not be coming back . I am not usually the one to write any reviews but I was compelled to write this one. Read their rebuttal: Just as I said, they will not take ownership and try to explain it away. They avoided mentioning their mistake and said my appointment was scheduled as a drop off but failed to tell me that or ask me anything in that regard when I made the appointment. Also I was told the diagnosis performed this last time was inconclusive. Now they are saying they some how know their previous work is not related. As I mentioned to Scott and advise everyone reading this, record what they say because they often change and respond with self serving rhetoric, will never admit they make mistakes. Oh and watch for the added fees like hazmat fee Shop supplies they got me for $33.62 A professional would talk to you about that ahead of time. Easy and secure before hours vehicle drop off. They have always been very close to their over the phone quote, often coming in $ below phone quote. They have been very up front about hidden problems that are only seen once they get into the repair. Work performed well, a well equipped shop that does not cut corners & they have a hard time doing more than is required. They have serviced three of my vehicles. What a great business! I had to take my car in for a simple oil change, but with two small kids, it can be difficult to keep them entertained and out of trouble while that happens. The waiting area is fantastic! Lot of different toys, games, books to keep the kids entertained, free wifi, coffee, and comfy leather armchairs for the grownups, as well as a TV area. Lots of nice touches that make if feel very homey and comfortable. The kids were sad to leave when the car was ready! As for the service for the car, there were a few maintenance items that need to be taken care of, but they didn't try to pressure or upsell me at all.
