Docking a star for how pricy the donuts are but they are still good and I keep going back occasionally. I recently had the chocolate on chocolate donut and they were so good. It was filled to the brim with chocolate ganache. It is probably my favorite donut from here besides the OG. You can't really go wrong with OG either - it is fluffy on the inside and the icing on the outside gives it a nice texture too. I think Doce is on par with SeaWolf in terms of quality of pastries but I never see Doce as busy as SeaWolf, to my blessing. It could be because you need to do a good amount of hiking up Stone Way to reach Doce while SeaWolf is just a few blocks up, or it could be because SeaWolf offers a variety of bread. I sometimes wish I can get like a dozen donuts to bring into work but I will go broke if I do that, so I have yet to do so. Maybe once I start earning more money, I will. read more

These aren't your classic donuts. The flavors are unique and a bit elevated. The dulce de leche donut was delicious, and my friends and I all really enjoyed what we got. The vibe is also a big plus. It's modern, sleek, and perfect for grabbing a donut and sitting outside to enjoy it. The only downside is the price. It's a bit on the expensive side, which is why I wouldn't give it a full five stars. But overall, it's definitely worth trying. read more

The donuts at Doce are delicious! The flavors are not what you would find at a typical donut shop but more so Latin American inspired. My top 3 favorites would be their passionfruit creme brulee, guava con queso, and Tres leche which I believe are always on their menu. Their donuts are a bit on the pricey side but that is because its more of a gourmet/ treat yourself donut. They have the perfect amount of sweetness while still being soft and not greasy. Some reviews state that they thought the donuts were on the dry side? but from my experience that's never been the case. The donuts are just more dense and kind of bread like vs the American super fluffy and airy. The Wallingford location is more of a grab and go spot but they do have one or two tables outside for you to sit at. Will 100% be back! read more

My original review would have been two stars, but I did my normal thing and visited this place three times (as well as visiting the original location) before writing this. I love the idea. I love the story. I wish I could love the donuts. The flavor ideas are superb. The execution is okay, but the base donut is not good. And it's every flavor we tried. Hands down, Doce has the best gourmet donuts in Seattle! There just is no comparison. We tried both the tres leches donut (absolutely gorgeous) and the vegan plain glazed and they were both spectacular! We picked up a dozen donuts for a gathering with my friends and loved the unique flavors! I appreciate that they offer fruity options like lemon, passionfruit, and guava. We especially enjoyed the passionfruit donut It was crispy on the outside with a sugary coating, and the filling tasted distinctly of passionfruit. The guava one was one I looked forward to, but it didn't really taste like guava. It was more like a generic fruit candy and lacked a distinct guava flavor. We also really liked the tiramisu donut. Stopped here to get donuts with a friend on a Friday morning. We found street parking, but had to drive around the block a few times. I knew guava con queso was going to be a home run before we tasted it and we were right. Sweet guava with subtle cream cheese. Icing was not overly sweet. Just a really well balanced donut. Passionfruit creme brulee is on the tart side but complimented the sweet crackled shell well. Original glazed was great! Really an ode to what a good donut should be, simple and mildly sweet vanilla flavor. Upset of the day for us was the tres leche as it mainly tasted like the chocolate bottom and meringue top. Delicious donuts and wonderful staff! I went around 10:15am, and they still had all the flavors and there were about 2-3 groups in front of me. My favorite was the apple fritter, and it's their newest flavor. The frosting was light and the apple was sweet, but not too sweet. Passion fruit creme burlee was my second, I really like how the passion fruit was tart and fruit forward. I first heard about Doce in the context of a seasonal green tea tiramisu donut. Obviously, I had to try that one and I've been happy coming back ever since. Be prepared for big, fluffy brioche donuts, and be aware they're pretty powerful - especially the filled ones. In particular, I think they do really well with fruit glazes (strawberry,lemon, etc) and are seemingly incapable of missing with a filled donut. Normally, filled ones aren't my favorite but at Doce they are so good I can't help it. Anyway, five stars. Six months ago maybe I'd have done four, but in the intervening months they've been so consistently excellent I can't help but raise (heh...) that. I've never been anything but pleased with the people working, the service, or the overall experience. Really, the only downside is having to pace myself on donut consumption. read more

I finally tried this place! I went on a Saturday and at 12pm there was no line so the hype has honestly died down. I paid $20/3 donuts so it was not cheap but this is the standard rate for brioche donuts these days. Tres Leches: Meringue topping, donut texture and filling were great. The chocolate bottom was not. I contacted them on Instagram and Doce said the bottom crust is essential to prevent the filling from seeping through the donut so does not seem like it will be going away. Guava Con Queso: The filling was too sweet but good flavor and texture Pumpkin Spice Latte: This was the most balanced of the 3 donuts in terms of sweetness. You got to enjoy the brioche texture the most as well since there's no filling. I think with some additional tweaks to balance out the sweetness, I would be a repeat customer. It seems the greater Seattle area can't get enough of doughnuts, from family run indies, attached to bakeries, and regional and national chains. Honestly, I think "fancy, boutique, niche" doughnuts, started with Top Pot back in 2002. I had seen the IG coverage for Doce Donut in Seattle's Wallingford/Fremont stretch on Stone Way N: the lines, its popularity to sell out of their featured flavors with a Latin American spin. After running various errands, I decided to check this spot out shortly before 12 noon (7/25/23). It was good sign when I was able to snag street parking and managed not to get run over (thank you kind, attentive drivers!). I was amazed that there was actually no line! I was overwhelmed with the choices, but no time to lollygag and be indecisive while others were now lined up behind me. I decided on getting half a dozen: original, creme brulee/passionfruit, churro/dulce de leche, guava & queso, Mexican chocolate, and key lime. The brioche style doughnuts were pretty uniform and big, had inventive, genuine flavors, and definitely sized for sharing. It was a hefty splurge because with tax & tip, the six doughnuts selected were a hair under $44. I get it though to deal with costs for overhead, ingredients, labor and other logistics, plus good ol' inflation! I will give them props for adjusting their par numbers accordingly due to demand. They also added online ordering, so you can pay ahead and pick up directly. These are handmade, so I am amazed how they deal with volume and do not sacrifice quality. These were some pretty disappointing donuts especially driving all the way from Everett. I got the early grey, tres leches, chocolate pistachio, and crème brûlée with passion fruit inside. They all looked and sounded better than they actually tasted. The earl grey was probably the best one out of all but I personally would have liked a stronger tea flavor, it almost tasted like a regular glazed. The pistachio and chocolate was the most disappointing and had any pistachio flavor and you can taste that the pistachio cream on top is a low quality cream. The tres leches tasted nothing like tres leches and was heavy on meringue cream on the top which I threw away (once again, low quality cream) and the passion fruit was so sour against the crème brûlée. Also, customer service could be better, no hello, no welcome. These donuts are extremely expensive as well. 4 donuts for about $30 read more

I have been DYING to try Doce's doughnuts and I must say their passion fruit crème brûlée and their guava con queso donuts are phenomenal. I pre-ordered them the night before on their website and it was ready earlier than I had put, which was perfect because I got there 15 minutes early than I had expected. The passion fruit crème brûlée had the crème brûlée crunch and it's not too sweet but distinct flavor of passionfruit was just what I was looking for! I also thoroughly enjoyed the guava con queso because not only is the guava flavor 100% there but you can also taste the cream cheese too! The guava con queso is topped with a a cream cheese glaze ande toasted Maria cookies. I need to find these Maria cookies to try them on their own! I got the Boston cream pie doughnut for my boyfriend, but he said the cream in it is not typical of a Boston cream, but to me it tasted like custard cream so take that little nugget as well but overall the donuts are phenomenal. I can see why they are worth the hype, and for the quality of ingredients and the hard work that goes into creating brioche dough is worth the price you pay. I would like to try either other flavors as well, but I'll be coming back for that passionfruit crème brûlée or the guava con queso! The bakery itself is takeout only. But it's really nice inside. This place is located around Ballard. I went to this place in search of a good doughnut to take to some friends. Each donut was way bigger in size than any regular doughnut you find at other places. It's really a small little cozy and clean shop and you have an option to sit outside as well. The two ladies that were working there were sweet, one was baking and the other was taking the orders. My professional pastry chef friends all think it's superb too. It is BRILLIANTLY crafted. I found myself in Fremont on a weekend morning, had already paid a visit to mas cafe and was craving something sweet. Doce had gotten alot of buzz on Instagram and so gave it a try. Ambiance - nice and clean shop. Everything is very photoworthy, which sometimes worry me. Alot of places put alot of focus on the vibe to make up for poor food quality. This wasn't the case. Service - short interaction but people were nice and friendly. Food - donuts were delicious, they had alot of interesting flavor's not common in donut shops. I enjoyed the OG and the tres leches. They were sold out of Tres Leches, sadly, but I got a Churro, Fresa Hibiscus, Guava Queso, and Mango Creme brûlée The donuts were pretty good, but at $5-6.50 per donut, I would say these didn't quite live up to the hype. The dough was a good balance and wasn't too doughy or airy. Thoughts on flavors below: Fresa & Hibiscus ($5.50) - this is a plain raised donut with a strawberry hibiscus glaze. I was pleasantly surprised with how flavorful the glaze is Churro Dulce de Leche ($5) - basically a cinnamon sugar raised donut with a caramel drizzle. I didn't really get crunchy churro vibes or felt that the drizzle added much flavor. Fine for a cinnamon donut but underwhelming overall Guava & Queso ($6.50) - glazed raised donut with a guava and cheese filling topped with some cookie crumbles. The filling really packs a punch in flavor!! Nice and tart but also creamy. I didn't get a lot of added value from the cookie crumble. Mango creme brûlée ($6.50) - raised donut with a brûlée sugar shell and mango creme/custard filling. I was impressed by how crunchy the brûléed exterior was. The filling was nice and creamy but I couldn't really pick up any mango flavor which was disappointing. Maybe if I hadn't tried the guava right before, the subtle flavors would have popped more. Overall the guava was probably my favorite and Fresa Hibiscus being a close tie. I still want to try the Tres Leches, but will probably wait until the hype dies down before coming back. read more

What does a donut and a new business have in common? They both have a soft opening. I stopped by today as they are rolling out the first of their pillowy yet satisfying brioche donuts, as excited donut nerds patiently lined the area around the counter. Even on a rainy morning, they were selling quickly, and doce only had The Lisa (strawberry glazed with sprinkles) and churro up for grabs, so I picked up two of each. They're a little spendy at $5.50 each, but I have a feeling many of the other varieties are generally bigger than these that happened to be ready at the moment. Both are absolutely delicious and give a nice substantial bite without being doughy. Proofed just the right amount, I'd say. The strawberry glaze is fresh and fruity and the churro is fun. Service was efficient and friendly, and I'm so excited to welcome them to the area. I'm a huge yeasted donut fan, and the area north of the cut is oddly not very well served with donut options. Looks like they've got fulcrum coffee on tap at a la marzocco espresso machine, so I bet the coffee is good! I'll definitely enjoy coming back to try the rest of the exciting flavors. I wonder why they don't open up an online ordering system to better anticipate (and cut off, if necessary) demand. Lots of popular small businesses do this and I think it works quite well. When I went there was also a corporate order of $600 worth of donuts which left about 30 donuts on display for 30+ people in line. Luckily I was not too far back in line and had the guava con queso, hibiscus, and tres leches. Not all donuts were ready at opening - maybe because of the large order. But this was also the case for my friend when she went. I thought the chocolate on the bottom of the tres leches was more distracting than additive - it masked the tres leches taste. I see the owners are very proud of the premium ingredients but it's hard to taste with too much going on! The guava con queso was the best out of the ones I ordered. Not much "queso" but definitely enough guava flavor. I hope this business continues to stay popular but hope they figure out the kinks soon! They've been open for a couple weeks (edited: said month before) so I expected a smoother experience. Firstly, I love that this place specializes in Latin American inspired flavors!!! I visited at a quieter time earlier in the day, so it was nice to see the full trays of donuts and chance to observe the smaller details of the area inside. Love the vibrant color scheme (go Mariners :)) However, I can't speak much to the service. Diving into the donuts themselves, they all looked gorgeous. Beautifully sized, and individually adorned. The base donut itself is a brioche dough, which often lends itself to a breadier texture rather than one that melts in your mouth (which is what I typically prefer), but makes for a more fulfilling bite. I tried 6 flavors in order of preference: the passion fruit creme brulee (beautiful crackly top which adds an additional layer of texture and contrasts the creamy custard filling which isn't too sweet; the passion fruit flavor was a little bitter but I felt that it helped cut through the sweetness), vegan glazed (I was so shocked by how much I like this one, especially as a severe lactose intolerant; it was perfectly dense and moist at the same time so if you like cake donuts this is for you), guava con queso (such a unique pairing!! We've been trying to wait until the crowds died down a bit to check this place out, but decided just to go early on a Friday morning. We arrived right at 9 and probably only had a 10 minute wait from start to finish. The place is cute inside we fun wicker lights and bright colors. The donuts were fresh and looked so enticing. We were just going to share one but couldn't resist trying out two because they looked so appetizing. The original glazed actually ended up being my favorite, it was fresh and soft with a thick vanilla bean glaze around the outside. I have been here three times now (partially because of how close they are to my home) and each time purchased a few donuts. I do appreciate that it's a local, family-run shop and love their backstory (check out the website for more). The donuts are not bad, but I've definitely had better. In terms of the dough, texture-wise I feel there's been inconsistency, sometimes it's good and sometimes a bit dry. They have also been too sweet for my taste and the flavors have been a bit lackluster. The cream they use tastes to me more like what you get on a grocery store cake - overly fluffy and cloyingly sweet - than a homemade, quality whipped cream.
