The wait time for food was rather long, and that was for everyone in the place, not just our table. ( this was around 4pm on a Saturday, not a mad rush time) My wrap had an ingredient on it that I requested not to have. I let them know before they sat the plate down. They said we will have them fix it for you. They bring the disheveled wrap back after clearly just picking off the ingredient instead of remaking it. (God forbid a person have an allergy.) Then halfway through both sides of the wrap, there's the ingredient! Because all they did was pick it off the top and middle section. Then, the cherry on top was finding the HAIR in the wrap - they also forgot items completely. I also noticed that the table to the right of us received the wrong burger (she had to scrape the toppings off) and another table nearby was asking for things they didn't receive. Terrible Service and food. Waited 15 minutes to order food and the nachos were terrible, beef was burnt but cold, queso was cold. I don't normally send food back, but I did this time and got the same exact thing. I put my credit card down to at least pay for my drink and the bartender told me I was paying for the meal too. This place is fantastic. We went there for a get together, no one had been there so we did not know what to expect. At the table one order the hamburger steak and gravy, the words were it melted in your mouth. Two people ordered the catfish plate and it was great and a lot. My sister ordered the shrimp and grits she said it was good my grand son ordered the chicken sandwich it was big and my wife and I ordered the bourbon bacon burger. They were huge. My wife and I had early dinner at Docks today. My wife had the Philly Cheese sandwich said it was as good as she ever had. Sweet potatoe fries were perfectly prepared. I had fried shrimp and it was very good. The baked potato was perfectly cooked and huge. Appeared to be fresh, no frozen. They have a good beer selection and it is served very cold. Service very good. Prices are very good considering the quality and amount of food. I know the fried banana pudding is great but we were both too full to consider adding it. They do charge a little extra for using a credit card. We will be returning soon. read more

Restaurant roulette is what you play when trying some mom-pop joints with few Yelp reviews, especially when those few are widely mixed. One Yelper said they'd pull up to Docks on their boat if on a waterfront. That got my attention. Another Yelper said that the burgers were overcooked and the wait staff were overworked. I guess it's all about timing on those experiences. My experience at Docks was very pleasant. I ordered the hamburger steak, cooked medium. It was. And it was exactly what I wanted. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. If there's any knock against Docks, it would be that it was very dark inside, especially when it is light outside. We tried to eat at Docks last night. After waiting an hour for our food we asked our waitress where our food was- She responded that it was not ready and the kitchen was backed up! We were very disappointed but we had movie tickets and had to leave. We ended up having a sandwich from Zaxbys. It took 5 minutes! We will not be returning to Docks. Additionally, the waitress was like- oh well. She was not that concerned that we had waited for an hour. No apologies, no let me get the manager- nothing. So, if you have hours to wait for food- head on over to Docks! Otherwise you may want to re-think where to eat in Pell City. For us, we are done with Docks. read more

Had lunch here today and been here several times in the past for lunch and dinner. Generally I like Docs and enjoyed the owners previous place "Huggies". But lunch today was terrible and maybe the owner will read this and take these recommendations to heart- 1. When a medium cooked burger is requested, don't over cook it to well done. My burger was a brick of ground beef that was so well done it was hard to chew. That's not an accident- that's just plain over cooked. 2. Our server did not check on us once after our food was delivered. In fact she disappeared for 20 minutes. I finally had to ask a different lady to refill my drink. It was funny that when I did this, a lady patron who had been sitting at a table for at least 10 minutes, finally got up and got her own menu. I thought she was going to walk out. I would have. 3. Don't use frozen burgers to make patty melts or burgers for that matter. My wife had the patty melt, which was over cooked too. The message it sends is "cheap". 4. I'm not sure but I think their Diet Coke comes out of the 2 liter bottle. Every time I have Diet Coke here it is flat. The message I get from you is "cheap". Overall I still like Docs. I think I may have caught them on a bad day because usually the burgers are good- or I may be remembering Huggies burgers. I'm not sure. But I will be back just to validate my conclusions. If I feel like it hasn't changed, I will add to this review to reinforce how bad their burgers have become. If I note an improvement, I will adjust my review accordingly. read more

1. The name is odd; the restaurant is not on a dock or anywhere near a dock. They don't serve any food that would be considered "dock" food; no seafood or fish. 2. The food is bar food; hamburgers and wings. They used to have a rib eye salad in which they used thick cut good quality rib eye. Unfortunately, that has changed to thin overcooked gristley meat. Half of it was unchewable on my last two orders of it. 3. The husband of the owner team is friendly. The wife is pompous. The food came out cold, the chicken tasted like grease, the cheese wasn't melted and the dish just didn't work. I don't think it would have been good hot. My son had the chicken tenders and fries. It was overcooked and tasted like grease. My wife had grilled chicken tenders and they were decent. My dad had the hamburger steak cooked med well and the bottom was charcoaled. We had the fried banana pudding, which I guess is supposed to be a banana foster. It was actually okay. It pales in comparison to a proper banana foster, but it was the highlight of the meal. I'm not sure why so many locals rave about this place. Went in on a Monday night, and there were only 3 other tables. It took over ten minutes to get our drinks and even longer for our server to get our order. She was very nice, but obviously overwhelmed and they needed another server on the floor helping or a more experienced server who could handle 4 tables. The burgers were disgusting. Obviously had lots of filler, I.E. bread crumbs, and way over seasoned with Dales. If I go eat a burger out, I really, really don't want or expect to taste Dale's. Ick. My son's chicken fingers were great, the fries were frozen and average. The price was okay had it been good but for generic, badly seasoned, frozen food I felt I wasted my money. Had a fantastic experience at Docks. The atmosphere in the bar was better than I had expected. They had three well-placed televisions for watching the SEC basketball tournament- a much more enjoyable setting for watching sporting events than Buffalo Wild Wings. There was a great drink selection- a red wine list, a white wine list, a beer list and a cocktail list, and the food was amazing. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. We had the fried green beens as an appetizer and I had the special of the day, Honey Balsamic Grilled Chicken Tenders with Rice and Sautéed Vegetables. The fried green beens were good, as most fried food is; however, the meal was amazing. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the rice and vegetables had a lot of flavor. Very disappointed with 'Docks'. We often opt for destination dining, but this trip was to check out how we feel about where we want to move to in a few months Years ago I lived not that far from Pell City and was shocked at how much it has grown. Not the sleepy little town it used to be, Back to the restaurant, It was bone chillingly cold in there, even made the food cold too soon. I ordered Surf & Turf and spouse ordered hamburger steak. Appalled that soggy plain white bread slid over the flat top consisted of the bread offering on both plates. My 'Rib Eye' steak was mystery meat, less than 1/2" thin and cooked well past medium when I asked for Medium Rare. No taste, tough and huge. Any decent chef cooks the more rare orders with thicker meat so they don't have to cook them too long. The overly well done hard lumpy baked potato was probably cooked the day before. They also put some nasty flavoring spices on the meat and the shrimp, which was disgusting! I am a steak purist, if it's a good steak, all it needs is salt, pepper and some butter to make it perfect. Throw that puppy in a hot cast iron skillet and watch the magic happen! Would have enjoyed having a choice! The shrimp were soggy and drenched in the same mess stuff as the steak. The Hamburger steak looked as though the gravy was made with corn starch rather than flour and would have been much better with mashed potatoes and something besides a slice of soggy bread. Very dark area in the back full of building equipment to get to the bathroom and not a light in sight, felt very unsafe. How much does it cost to have the light come on when the door is open? Pleasant waitstaff doing the best they could, but not busy enough to be so slow. Also, apologized several times for taking time. Even if we choose to move to Pell City, we won't be frequenting Dock's. I see a lot of potential there, needs some work and really good advice. I've been there three times so far and had the fried catfish filets, it was perfectly cooked and way more than I could eat...portions sizes are wonderful and the second time I had a Dock's Burger that was perfectly cooked and the hand cut Double battered Onion Rings are off the chain great!!! The third time I went I got the Shrimp Tacos for cinco-de-myo they were huge Shrimp and perfectly cooked, my brother had the Fried Catfish Dinner it was great as well! NO Complaints outta me...except...now I'm hungry... Lol...I will be going back very soon!! read more

I love Dock's. We go every week. We have had two meals a little off, but for the most part everything is delicious. I like that you can order any sandwich as a wrap. The Philly Cheesesteak wrap is awesome. read more
