Undoubtedly the worst clam chowder I have ever had! It was watery and tasteless. Waste of money.

This is the second time I've tried this place after hearing rave reviews. I want to like it! I just don't get it. Aside from sitting at a picnic table beside the ocean there was nothing to get excited about. I ordered the haddock basket and the first thing I noticed were the thin fries dripping in oil. They were flavorless. The haddock was a large filet. The breading wasn't crunchy or flavorful. It was bland and falling off the fish. The Cole slaw was better than both. With so many seafood places in Maine this is one I'd surely skip. read more

What happened to your lobster roll? Have been to Erica's many, many times and have always highly rated the lobster roll as one of our top two Maine locations. Today was different and not in a good way. All of a sudden the lobster (usually so fresh and sea salty) is mixed with mayo and some sort of grainy seasoning (pepper and maybe celery salt?). This place is still the gold standard for how a classic Maine lobster roll is supposed to be done in my opinion. No lettuce, no fancy rolls, no celery, etc. Just super fresh lobster meat with the barest amount of mayonnaise on a butter grilled top split hotdog bun. Absolute perfection. First it's a nice spot to sit down and eat after a hike or exploring this scenic place. It was clean and welcoming. The lady came out and got our order and was very helpful. This seafood stall really does have that hole in the wall feel to it. It's off the beaten path and seems to be locally run. Unfortunately those are the only real selling points of this place. Lobster roll is nothing crazy and some of the food was cold when it came out. FYI The hours are also a bit inconsistent to what is posted online. Awful. Our party of six arrived at opening time. A sign out front directed us to stand in front of the building and someone would come out to take our order. An employee loading soda into a machine nearby, however, told us gruffly not to bother to stand there because the two cooks were not yet inside and we "weren't going to get anything" until they were ready. We acknowledged her politely and sat down at the picnic table right in front of the sign. 20 minutes later, we were still waiting for someone to come out to take our order. When another customer arrived and stood in front of the sign, a woman came out immediately and took that customer's order, the customer who arrived 20 minutes after we did. Nobody from the food shack acknowledged us or asked us if we were ready to order. If someone had simply said to us, "Hey, sorry for the delay, we're a little behind, but we'll be out to take your order as soon as possible, it would have been fine. Instead, there was nothing. Not even an acknowledgement that we were even there. We all decided to eat somewhere else because we felt so disrespected. The loss to Erica's was $100 for lunch sales and $150 for the lobsters we were going to buy for a party that night. Multiply that by the regular customers we may well have become in the future if we had had the chance to enjoy the food. read more

There are so many lobster shacks and we're glad we picked Erica's. First thing to note, it's cash only, so be prepared. Also, do like the locals and bring your own drinks--we didn't know that we'd be buying drinks from a vending machine and wished we had brought some. We got a Lobster Roll, two fried baskets, and the Lobster Melt. The service staff was very patient as we tried to navigate the menu. We had to wait a little bit for the food, but it didn't seem overly long. The lobster roll was great--just lobster and butter, warm, which is my preference. The fried scallops were the big hit among the fried things, but the whole belly clams, shrimp, and oysters were delicious too. It was pretty foggy, so we didn't get an expansive view, but we enjoyed sitting outside with our food. We would go back, next time with more cash and drinks! read more

Oh, so very, very good! We ordered fried shrimp basket and a haddock basket. Both were so fresh - coleslaw was great, and we had amazing French fries and onion rings. Best part? We sat in the sun with a lovely bottle of white wine - perfect with the seafood - and since you can bring your own, it is easy to have an affordable lunch. Sitting in the sun, yummy fresh food, and a view that keeps going. The staff is wonderful - helpful and nice. Note that if you do go, take cash! read more

Disappointing, we have been here before and recall having a better meal, but this time our fries were soggy like they had been sitting. Coleslaw was tasty, Haddock was just good and using individual store packaged tartar sauce was definitely lacking. One of the best baked lobster rolls I've had. Large sweet meaty chunks on a toasted bun. Tried with butter on the side and honestly didn't add anything. - go naked! Clam chowder had the most clam strips and chunks - not diced - I've seen in a chowder. If I had to take anything off it's for the chowder broth itself was being a little watery for my taste. Got the Lobster roll for $25 which is pretty good compared to other places. It being a rainy day I decided to sit in my car and eat, however they do have plenty of indoor as well as outdoor sitting. If you're ever in the Portland (Maine) area, you MUST make your way to Erica's Seafood!!! It's about an hour drive from Portland and has the most kick ass ! As of Sept 2021, it'll cost you $9/lb for live lobster, and the best part is you get it straight from the fisherman! Toby, who is in charge of selecting and steaming your lobster, is super chill and nice. The experience is super awesome, and it's the best lobster I've ever had. Really the only place we go for lobster rolls. Only place. They're done right, lots of meat, some mayo and not much else. The cole slaw is also done right, not too sweet. Onion rings are more like fries and weren't quite what I expected though they were delicious. Staff is friendly. It's outside seating overlooking the water. First off I'm from Florida, we have been coming to Maine for many summers. Have been to many restaurants some very good some not so good, there was a time when almost every restaurant was great at a reasonable price, now its getting harder to find good restaurants for a reasonable price, this is not a reasonable priced walk up, two lobster melts and two clam chowder for a total of 90$ . The restaurant just next to Erica's , has bathrooms table service and great food we had lunch there for less including main course appetizers beers and dessert for less than Erica's. Sorry but I expect a walk up to be less expensive than a nice sit down restaurant. Now on to the food at Erica's, The lobster melts were good but the clam chowder was not, the chowder was overcooked and the cream broke giving the chowder a pathetic texture and almost a burnt taste it ruined my meal and I threw it in the trash! Took a drive up to Harpswell and decided to stop here for lunch. Have some cash, no credit cards accepted here. Your drinks come from a soda machine next to the food shack. There are picnic tables next to it up the hill. We stood in line to order, it moved quickly. The prices were much cheaper than in the portland area. I had the fried Maine shrimp basket. It came with fries and Cole slaw. Get both tarter and cocktail sauce. Note to non-Mainers, Maine shrimp are tiny so don't expect large shrimp. They are very tender and sweet. Everything was delicious. If you want a steamed lobster there's a place to order one next to Erikas. The bathrooms are two porta potties so bring some wipes. Beautiful spot. read more

Quick, carside service with a smile. My husband and I shared the fried haddock basket and it was plenty for two! Very generous portion of haddock - super fresh and perfectly cooked. Light batter that wasn't greasy or heavy. We upgraded to onion rings vs fries and they were excellent. Cute little spot right on the water with outdoor seating available. Great spot for lobster rolls with an amazing view of the bay! The lobster was fresh and sweet and you can go to the shop and see them in the tanks fresh from the bay. The friend clams were beyond amazing. The onion rings were super thin and crispy. Drinks are from a vending machine by the shop, so bring dollars and change, although the shack will give you some change if you ask. To order your meal, you go to the shack, select an outside table and they will bring your food to you. Highly recommend. read more

I do not dislike Erica's, the food is always good and the ocean view is killer. I'm just not a fan of the way you have to get your food...stand in line to order, then fight to find a seat, if you want lobster you have to go to another location, get your drinks out of machine...it just is too much and it's not a great experience. I hate sitting on picnic tables, no back support, and you need to share your table with others...I guess you could say no, but how could when people are walking around like zombies looking for a place to sit down? I would rather go to the Dolphin...but that's just me...like I said the view is great and the food is good...it's just not my thing... read more

Ahhhh, Erica's in the time of Covid... Erica's was already made for social distancing with its widely-spaced picnic tables (never had indoor seating), but now they have upped their game even more to keep everyone safe while still offering the very best food in the area. Instead of you stepping up to the window to order, a server, wearing a face covering, comes out to you on the lawn, keeping at least six away, to take your order. They offer to give you your bill total right then as a good reminder that this place is still CASH OR CHECK ONLY. BTW, the nearest ATM is in Brunswick, about 30 mins away, so come PREPARED. Don't forget, you can always phone your order in ahead of time (207-833-7354). Then, in reasonably short order, the server delivers your order to your table, or even to your car! Great service. As noted in my earlier review from (gulp) 6 years ago, drinks are still from the vending machine (so bring cash for that too!) or BYOB. The one change since my last review, and who can blame them, is that their prices have caught up a bit with the competition. A fried clam basket with fries and coleslaw is now $25. But it's still the best darn basket of clams you can get! The crispy batter tastes fresh so you know it was made in fresh, clean oil, and the clams are the perfect ratio of belly to strip. Lobster rolls are still fresh and fulsome. In short, Erica's remains my go-to place for Maine seafood. It's simply the best. P.S. Honestly, we were incredibly surprised with our experience here after reading all of the great reviews. Perhaps we didn't hit them on a good night but NOTHING was fresh nor made properly. We got a clam platter ($31 for clams, fries, coleslaw, and 3 Kens tartar sauces), chicken tenders ($11 for 3 clearly freezer burned, overcooked and non-edible pieces), and seafood chowder ($15) that was 90%+ liquid garbage. Check out the before pictures. The chowder pictures (before pouring out the liquid and what remained afterwards). So disgusting that we didn't even eat the chicken, coleslaw or fries at all. I did eat the 21 small, undercooked clams because I was hungry enough to do so. But we didn't bother with the staff after seeing that the namesake of the restaurant was the one that took our order. If this passes as great food for anyone, you clearly don't know good seafood nor basic food preparation. We literally left (down our $57) and went to another restaurant to get some food. read more

Made the detour while driving from Boston to Belfast to try this place I'd just learned about. I'm not sure it's worth the drive down back roads when you can stop at Day's right on Rt 1 but you don't get the view there. Prices are very reasonable and we enjoyed the scallop and "crabster" rolls. Good sized nicely fried scallops on a well buttered and grilled hot dog bun. I'm surprised more people don't combine crab and lobster, I think this was a fairly even split. You're relegated to Portopotties here so we drove into Bath for an iced coffee at Mae's and real bathrooms. read more

Yesterday we visited Erica's Seafood on a very foggy Monday afternoon. The fog kept the temperatures cool as the Mainland was close to 90 degrees. Erica's is everything you expect in a traditional Maine Lobster Shack. Nothing fancy, only take-out, seats are on picnic tables by the parking lot, overlooking the working dock. When its not fogged in, their are great views of South Harpswell and Casco Bay. We enjoyed the crab roll and lobster roll with sides. The lobster roll was one of the best tasting I ever had in Maine. The prices are fair but this is a no frills dining experience. Bathrooms are port o potties around back. Well behaved dogs are Welcome ! Highly recommend for the true Maine experience! read more
