Pretty decent place for breakfast. Two of us went to Dockside Diner a month or so ago while some work was getting done on our boat this morning. My friend had some sort of crazy nut (walnuts) covered pancakes and I had a Patty Melt with Hash Browns. My friend gobbled up his pancakes and said "They're Great!" My Patty Melt was OK but didn't have a lot of flavor. I could not discern any salt, pepper or any other flavorings. Further, the Hash Browns, that I had asked for extra grilled onions, had no onions and the Hash Browns were obviously frozen riced potatoes out of a bag and were dry and pretty much tasteless. What happened to dicing potatoes and onions to make Hash Browns? The shredded kind just does not cut it since they get hard from over cooking and hardly ever have ny grilled onions mixed in. I wrote an email to the restaurant owner today explaining what I had found out from various 4-Star and, 3-Star breakfast locations in Philadelphia and Cherry Hill that I had eaten in out the intervening period. These are places that charge over $30 per person for simple breakfasts. Every one of them had outstanding Hash Browns and they told me exactly what they did to serve those outstanding Hash Browns to their customers. I passed along that information to the owner of Dockside Diner in an email today. Let's see what he does with the information. In far too many restaurants, the owners have not routinely eaten their own food. What a mistake. The coffee is good though here If Dockside Diner fixes their Hash Browns, they will go to 5-Stars in my book!. read more

I just had breakfast at the counter. Girl who took my order was great and coffee was good also, but that's all I can say about my meal. I had a ham and cheese omelette that had three pieces of cold deli cheese in it, two halves of burnt toast and sausage links with no taste. If I weren't hungry and realizing this was going to be their beat effort, certainly not worth the $16 I was charged. I ate the omelette, left the sausage and toast. This all said, I did notify the girl who served me and paid my complete bill, but got no apology from anyone. I get that everything is blamed on Covid, but the cook is their regular guy, so if he can't get it together then there is no reason to go back. After reading the other reviews I had to take a stand! Dockside diner is amazing! Definitely a family fave!! When I went to the dockside diner I went with my 3 cousins and aunt. I ordered blueberry pancakes which came with hash browns and toast. All 3 were amazing. Pancakes were fresh, hash browns were perfectly cooked, and toast was toasted just right. My cousins ordered omelettes which I tried and they were delicious! My aunt tried the buttermilk pancakes which tasted phenemenal. They were very fluffy and great! Our waiter who was probably in his 20s was super friendly and made good conversation and small talk with us. Last but not least I can't leave out the fact that the meals were high in calorie, but for a break from cereal and breakfast at home the Dockside Diner is the place to go! read more

I tried the breakfast nachos and the eggs florentine. I didn't really like the breakfast nachos, it seemed like a poor substitute for huevos rancheros. Basically scrambled egg and cheese on top of tortilla chips. The scrabbled egg wouldn't stay on the chip, I could have used a bit more in the way of toppings, it just didn't work for me. The eggs florentine were better but not the best that I've had. The eggs were over cooked for my taste (medium, on the verge of hard poached eggs). I had a hard time cutting through the english muffin on the bottom. The hollandaise sauce was a good consistency and well made. I liked that they had a variety of hot sauces available. I had never had sriracha on eggs florentine before. I was tempted to ask for every hot sauce they had to be put on the table. While things weren't bad, not the best breakfast I've had. read more

The single best place in my world for breakfast. I lived in forked river nj and would drive 25 minutes to go for breakfast. I now live in Texas and whenever I am in the remote area, I find myself there. Two wonderful sisters own it and they bring warmth to the whole place. Very good and honorable people. It is small, but that adds to the charm. Great sunrises. Great food. Fresh fruit and killer Manhattan clam chowder. I have been there 200+ times and never disappointed. The food is mediocre. It's not bad, but it's not noteworthy. Just good. The service is the real issue. I have ordered the same very simple meal to go on two occasions, and both times my order has been messed up. I ordered the Dockside Combo, and I asked for my eggs scrambled with cheese, white toast, and a side of bacon. The first time, they did not add the cheese to my eggs, and also forgot my toast. The second time, they forgot my bacon, which is an extra 7 dollars. The cheese was just melted on top of the eggs and my toast was burnt. I would not recommend this diner whatsoever, and the food is not worth the terrible experience. Especially if you are ordering a to go order, this place is a no-go. read more

Been coming here for a couple of years now but won't be coming back. Waitress never came by to warm the coffee (very weak) even though the place was not full (wonder why on Memorial Day ) I was there with my daughter and son along with two of his teenage friends. Usually eat everything. The food was awful - under cooked hash browns on the whole table, the toast was soggy and not really toasted, the "Old-Style" corned beef hash was obviously from a can and and extremely bland. My son and his friend had the cheeseburger omelet that was a pocket of grease. No one finished their meal. Will not be going back I'm afraid. read more

Parking is really the only negative thing about this place. Outside of that, food is great especially breakfast. Views of boats and bay water, friendly staff and comfortable seating. What a nice surprise!! I had been meaning to go there for YEARS!! Finally went last year and was so impressed with the menu. My nephew had the Cinnamon Bun French Toast, OMG, a little bit of Heaven (aside from the calories). Chicken Florentine Omelette outstanding. Nice atmosphere, great food, friendly servers. Great view if you get a window seat. It's small so plan early if you have a group. I have no idea if they take reservations. Only open for breakfast & lunch. This place has excellent reviews so I was shocked as soon as I stepped in the door. The inside was messy, there were flies everywhere, my menu had orange juice on it, and the bathroom didn't work. The staff was inattentive and clearly just going through the motions. I went for lunch and the food was actually not bad. It's very affordable as well, just don't get the veggie wrap (it was gross). My mistake may have been that I went for lunch rather than breakfast. Regardless, I won't be going back. read more

For years it has been a family tradition to have brunch at Dockside diner as soon as we arrived at the island at the start of our vacation. Every year we returned to Dockside for the wide menu selection and local, comfortable atmosphere. Unfortunately, this will be our last year as patrons of Dockside. The charm of our favorite LBI diner has been soured by appalling service and mediocre food. Our young server was enthusiastic upon greeting us. We waited about 5 minutes to order drinks- and we received them promptly. So far- not so bad. But then, we proceeded to wait about 10 minutes just to order our food (when we were ready with menus down after about 2 minutes). We kept looking to see where our server could have disappeared to, but no sign of him. All the other staff- ages ranging from late teens to very young adult- were oblivious that we were looking for our server as they were huddled at the end of the bar discussing what their plans were after their shifts (I heard this when I was waiting 5 minutes for the ONLY single co-ed bathroom). Anyways, once our server finally returns he apologizes for his long absence and takes our order. We wait almost 20 minutes- again, no sign of our waiter and we have two hungry and restless kids. The restaurant was moderately busy- but nothing that I would expect cause an unreasonable delay. In years past I had noticed the lengthy waits, but chalked it up to customers at every table. This year, we came after the "brunch rush. At last- our server returns- but only to serve food to several OTHER tables that were seated AFTER us. And tables in other sections seated after us were also given their food. *Please note that we ordered 3 dishes (one omelette, one burger, and one pancake). We were understandably annoyed, but not irate. When we pointed out to our waiter we had been waiting a long time and that tables seated long after us were already eating, he hostilely said with a raised voice, " I ONLY HAVE TWO HANDS!" and then slammed the dishes that were in his hands into the bussing tub just behind our booth with a crash. Most of the restaurant had noticed this alarming, rude, and unwarranted reaction. A minute after this outburst, he brought our food out like nothing happened and was friendly- seemingly to compensate for his inappropriate behavior minutes prior. He checked up on us a few minutes later. Although I feel like he was trying to make up for his rudeness, we never received an apology. The food was mediocre- pancakes were pretty dry and eggs were bland, but I think the real disappointment here was the service. I am shocked not only to have a server become so nasty with me as a customer, but also to not have a manager (at least not one that I noticed cared) on site to see to these blatant behavior and service issues. Just to add- in my observance, several of the other patrons were also annoyed by the lengthy service as well. I hope the owner of Dockside reads this and takes it seriously when choosing staff and managers in the future and drastically changes the methods of service for this veteran, local establishment. read more

Dockside is everything I love about Jersey diner food. Been going for years. I opted for a fried egg sandwich with pepper jack cheese on an English muffin with avocado. It was perfect - avo was fresh, cheese was oozing and egg was fried just right. Hash browns are usually well done but were under today. Coffee isn't the strongest either. The omelette was fresh, and delicious. I got a side of fresh fruit and it was delicious! Not a generic side of fruit, but one with such variety! The ambiance is so cute and cozy. Brrrrr! Had breakfast in an igloo this morning. Costumers were begging to sit outside. The upside: over easy eggs - perfect, home fries nice and crispy, scrapple was very good. Downside: it was so cold the coffee froze within two minutes. Speaking of coffee: it was so weak a seagull wouldn't have woken up. Diluted water!
