We were so hesitant! This was our first time beach camping in our trailer since we bought it, and I was worried my boyfriend wouldn't love all the inevitable sand. However, we were way too busy have the time of our lives to worry about a little sand in the RV! It was admittedly a tight squeeze getting backed in to a space, and we had to ask the neighbor to temporarily move their truck to make a little room, but it went very well after that. We had a spot on the beach side and we were able to put our canopy and chairs up behind it, on the sand! What a cool little benefit we had no idea about prior to getting there! The campground check in is easy, they give an entry code for the restrooms as well as the gate, along with the camp rules and a map. Once we got set up, we walked right out to the beach behind our camper and we watched the sunset! What a treat! There were plenty of people in camp, and everyone was friendly (no rowdies here) and were enjoying their campfires and family time. We noticed plenty of LA County beach patrol even after dark, and most everyone abided by the 10 p.m. curfew/fires out rule on the beach. The planes overhead were not an annoyance for the most part, except the one or two we'd hear as we were falling asleep. Other than that, I became a little bit obsessed as we saw some BIG planes taking off throughout the day! It was really a fun little bonus, especially if you enjoy that kind of thing. Dumpsters were full when we arrived, but they empty the them daily. Restrooms were clean, and the walking trail is very busy throughout the day with walkers, bikers, runners, etc. And there is even a small self-rent station nearby on the path where you can rent bikes for the day. Further north, about a half-mile walk, is the little beach store. They sell literally everything, firewood, bathing suits, flip-flops, hats, snacks, ice, water pressure regulators, and even RV TP! You can rent chairs, canopies, towels, ice chests, and more there, too, either by the day or by the hour. Pricing is a bit high...but they know about supply & demand! ;) We enjoyed our time so much! We'll be back, and hopefully very soon to make more memories! read more

I'm leaving a review for dockwiler RV parking. I've been going there for many years. I've seen the good and the bad Is it hard to get reservations? Yes, is it hard for them to answer the phone? Yes, but once you are there and seeing what goes on, you have a better understanding how much these people try to manage. I had a bad experience this year at the park, and it wasn't because of the staff. It was because there was a issue.On the other side, which is the public parking area. Something happened over there. The police closed it down and everyone moved out toward our area rv side Got into it with a few people that came to my RV spot. I asked them to move and they created a problem. Eventually, they were cleared out. And then they made threats that they would be back so I went to the r v staff, spoke to two girls nicole and mila i let them know about my situation And my concerns they immediately moved me and said to me.If there's any other problems, please feel free to reach out to us then also the police would not let anyone that had overnight parking to park in the overnight area So we parked in the RV spot the next morning. We got a ticket for not properly parking. Where we are supposed to sixty five dollars.Ticket.Fine i immediately went to the office explained to the two girls again and their supervisor which I did not get his name, says, let us take care of it.It was not their problem or their issue, but the mere fact that they stood up and and try to resolve it meant a lot. They got back to me telling me that I had to fill out a piece of paper. And submit it with the ticket. Well, I got my answer back, and they dismissed the ticket. That's why I'm writing this review. Because it takes a while, but with due diligence, it always comes out right So when I went back Later that day i saw how busy they were dealing with problems. People stuff getting stolen getting a ticket.When the customer says it wasn't their fault. They tried to explain it, but some people didn't want to hear it. Another man came in, feel like he was entitled. Telling them, why did my nephew get a ticket? Do you know who I am? Do you know how long I've been coming here? You're going to be fired tomorrow. Watch and he was calling them every name. In the book, they didn't lose their call. They kept calm and tried to explain to the man. What he needed to do and what he should have done. But he didn't want to hear it So when people say they don't answer the phone, it's not that they don't care to.It's that they're really busy with other people or dealing with problems that come up The 2 girls are very polite. And sincere and really care about their jobs, not because it's a paycheck, it's because they care about the people.And the rv park at any given time, they could just say F this, I'm done, but they don't, But you 2 girls go beyond. What is asked to do on a job? And I just want to say thank you very much And the only reason I'm not leaving a 5 star, it's because of the problem that I had there with the police. read more

Doc Weiler has always been a place to relax and enjoy. I did notice over the years of coming that this place has expanded to accommodate over landers, which was a great idea. I also noticed they do not have a laundry washing area due to someone ruining it by destroying the laundry area and machines. SMH... anyway there were RV's in spaces that were for 40' and below but yet people are bringing over 40' feet into spaces that cannot completely accommodate that space. I think Doc Weiler staff need to have someone or create a space to measure these RV's coming into the RV establishment. If you're too big you can't be there. Simple.. or they need more areas for the big rigs to stay. Other than that it's a great place to stay while still having things around you to visit and see. I will not give 5 's because of the 40+ footer RV's creating a hazard of rear ends sticking out of the spaces. I will always be back to visit and stay at Doc Weiler. read more

Dockweiler RV Park - The homeless encampment next to the dry camping. - RV Parks Near Me - Playa Del Rey, California

Being at the beach is my favorite place to be but Dockweiler just didn't do it for me at all. The RV sites are small, quiet time hours were never enforced, and there was always a constant traffic of people walking through our small site to get to the beach. They don't even have security or anyone to call. At one point I had 3 surrounding neighbors playing loud music till 2am. Another huge issue at this campground is that LA County allows the homeless to camp right on the beach where most families would set up their umbrellas and beach chairs. That was my ultimate concern as it can be a huge hazard. Nothing or no one is protecting innocent families from being poked by a needle left behind. At one point a young man who was clearly intoxicated on some sort of substance walked up to me as I was sitting at my campsite and asked me for a bottle of water or soda. I figured water would quench his thirst so I gave him water and something to eat and he then stumbled away. Minutes later my friend text me that the young man was passed out just feet from her RV door. Her husband talked to the park and they told him to call PD if he bothered them. Let's be honest..the cops aren't going to do anything about it so my friend had to deal with him herself. She offered him water and snacks then asked him kindly to move elsewhere as he was lying at the entrance to the beach from her and her neighbors site. He did but he then moved over to the public restrooms and passed out again. Yeah...no thanks. Definitely not a fan of this place at all. Take a ride on the bike lane that runs behind the campground and you'll pass numerous encampments on the sand. LA County needs to do better and the park needs to fight for the the safety of the paid patrons that are staying at their park. read more

Campground is parking lot. No shade. They are very strict on who comes in and out. Which isn't a bad thing but can be annoying when you are in a hurry. It is loud because of the planes but being right on the beach is nice. The bathrooms were clean but the laundry was broken. The main thing that was an inconvenience is how they have the hookups setup. If you are towing a trailer and backing in for the middle row sites you need about a 30ft sewer hose line to hookup. We did not have one that long and the beach store was sold out. read more

We've been coming here for years, always had green grass down the middle of the walkways and at the bathrooms. we just got here today and all the grass is dead. Everything looks kind of unkept. I'm not happy at all. It's a good place to visit has very close proximity to a lot of places we'd like to go to, but they are not taking care of this place. read more

Dockweiler RV park has extended a new loop for van campers. The spots are flat and less than 20 feet there is a dedicated shower/. Parking is super easy and you're only allowed one guest spot for RV campers. I parked in the public lot by the beach and it gets very crowded after the morning. This RV camp spot is like if tailgating and camping had a baby. It was so much fun and was a great community of people having fun by the beach. read more

-This is mostly about Angelique the office "manager" at the park- We stayed at dockweiler for our first month of rv living in october and had an awesome time (besides my bike getting stolen from its lock) moved up to valencia travel village for a bit (great place) and came back december 11th for my birthday We paid the same way as last time over the phone we got emails confirming and they gave us the gate codes and said everything was all good when we went to the office to check in then we got all hooked up and ready to watch sunset and they call us saying our payment didn't go through we go up to the office and immediately greeted with attitude, saying our payments never went through (even though they just let us through and gave us gate codes) angelique didn't care what we had to say we showed that the money has been taken out by los angeles county the same as it was in october and they show no payment on their computer instead of being a human being and having empathy or compassion she continues to give attitude as though we are trying to scam them even though we have already given this park a lot of money a month ago saying don't care you need to pay or you are kicked out and i'm calling the police so we call our bank to assure her the money is gone we are telling the truth and she refused to talk to our bank and said again don't care pay or i'm calling the police no human decency or respect i could continue on but to make a long story short this continues for a couple days no help like talking to brick walls "your payment isn't going through so pay or your out" so we try to dispute the charge with our bank which will take 90days and ask to speak to her manager who is ignoring our calls and came into the office after we asked to speak to him and knows we are having problems but left without checking in with us or calling back still we try to pay again because we are working on getting the other payment disputed and we don't won't them to tow our vehicle away and they are saying they are gonna send us to collections for not paying so we try again and it does the same thing AGAIN the office worker goes "oh this computer was having problems oops" not using the four other computers next to him but using the one he says was having problems what a not professional nor critically thinking team this is so now we have to dispute two purchases from these people DO NOT GO HERE WE ARE NEVER COMING BACK THEY WILL KEEP TAKING MONEY FROM YOUR ACCOUNT AND MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE IN THE WRONG read more

This review is specifically because of Angelique, the on-site manager at Dockweiler RV Park. Her behavior was hostile, aggressive, and completely unacceptable. She came to our campsite screaming that we had not paid for our stay. We immediately showed her the official email receipt from the State Park along with bank confirmation proving payment. Her response was that she "didn't care." She then escalated the situation further by using vulgar language, acting erratically, and threatening to call the police and remove us, despite clear, documented proof that we had paid. This was not a misunderstanding -- it was a power trip. No guest should ever be treated this way. This individual is unfit for any customer-service or management role and should not be representing a public facility. The fact that a manager would threaten law enforcement over her own failure to verify payment is alarming. We have formally escalated this incident to her supervisor and are awaiting a response. Until management is cleaned up, this park is not safe for travelers who expect basic professionalism and respect. Dockweiler's location is irrelevant when management behaves like this. We will never return, and I strongly recommend others think twice before staying here. read more

Fun place right on the beach,just minutes (biking or driving) from restaurants, coffee shops, bars. Easy access to the biking path and beach volleyball courts. Very dog friendly, and has several places to camp out on concrete pads for Class B (sprinter van types) with plenty of sandy area to set up camp. Also, super close to the bathrooms. Not a lot of trees or shade, so bring your own (shade, lol) Everyone at the RV park was very nice, tons of family-friendly people here. read more

Online reservation didn't work and no one answered the phone all day or returned any of my phone calls... drove an hour and a half through ridiculous traffic and got there five minutes after 7 PM and was told there's nothing he could do because the computer shut off at 7 PM automatically. The location is awesome! Lots of noise from planes flying in and out, but I like it. The spots are right next to each other, which isn't ideal, but it is right on the beach, so worth it anyway. No guest parking and if your extra vehicle doesn't fit, which it should, you have to park it on the lot next to the park. The one thing I didn't care for at all, were the street lamps.. I woke up multiple times thinking it was morning already because it looked so light outside. The bathrooms aren't anything to rave about either. Ended up showering in the RV. Thankfully it's all full hookup here! Overall, I would definitely stay here again because of the park's proximity to the ocean. read more

Location was in a beautiful area, the only complaint about staying here were the people camped in tents on the beach, some of them approached us and were acting inappropriately. Once we brought this up with the staff we were immediately moved to feel safer and more comfortable. Compliant, understanding, well mannered staff. And it's sad that people will play there music loud no consideration for close quarters but then again the way people drive nowadays consideration is not a thing anymore. Our family has been camping at several times a year for many years. We love it and always have a great tIme. Each time we have rented/borrowed different RVs. This time we are looking at a 40' unit. (Longest ever). Information says all sites accommodate 40' units, however some reviews indicate 40' units did not fit in certain campsites and they had to change campsites. Before I committed to this specific unit I wanted to make sure there would be no problems. Our upcoming reservations are during a holiday period. I called and wanted to measure or get information about a specific site. The male who answered the telephone told me he can not help me. I parked in a marked parking space outside the office. Before I opened my car door, a young male bolted out of the office. I opened my door he rudely told me "You cant park there!". I recognized the voice as the male I spoke with on the telephone. I was unable to locate any signage that indicated I could not park there. I was taken aback because in my many years of experience at the park, the staff has always been professional and and respectful. I have always been greeted with a pleasant "Hi/Hello" and something along the lines of "How can I help you?" I told him I believe he was the person I spoke with and told him I had a question. He folded his arms across his chest and arrogantly asked "What's your question". I explained the information I needed. He clearly explained why he could not accommodate my request. I told him I understood and respected the given reasons. I further explained my need for the information. I asked if he had any suggestions. The male told me I could change to a 45" campsite (not an option during a holiday week) or take my chances if I was concerned about my RV fitting into the campsite. I stood there trying to figure out a way to learn the information. I again asked if he could think of any way to get the information. The male continued to just stand there with his arms crossed. He again told me he could not help me and looked at me like "I told you I cant help you...you can leave now". I could not believe what was happening. Thankfully a second male exited the office and pleasantly offered me a map of the campground that provided the exact information I was seeking. (I am certain he overheard the conversation because the office door remained open) He took the time to point out the details of the information I sought. Then he asked if I had any other questions. He told me not to hesitate to contact them with any future questions. Thank you for stepping in and sharing the exact information I needed. In reviewing the map I received. I noticed the sites the first male suggested we move to were not the 45' sites. The campsite we reserved unbeknownst to us will accommodate a 45' RV .. See attached image. I have been going here for 7 years now and this was probably the last time i will be going. one person in particular was very rude and big attitude to match it. She was a person of color with great big eye lashes (Paste on). They now have signs in the park stating RULES. I was told if any problems of noise that went into the night to call security. I called the second night I was their and it went to voice mail and never herd back it was a loud party with loud music and dancing in the street. read more

We are next to an airport so it's loud all day everyday. We were Close to the beach which was nice. There's a bike path that's also close by. Neighbors are nice people. Place seems to be clean, including bathrooms and showers. I wish they did inform us of the no parking rule at the public side of the beach, we got ticketed for parking our rv there. The place is clean and devoid of homeless traffic! Staff is good. The weird part is being parked over nite with so much light? Hard to tell if it's morning or parking lot lights, bring blackout curtains. Nice place. But the jets from LAX OMG MY EARS ARE STILL RINGING. Bring a bedside fan to drown out the jets. Pros; the boardwalk and beach is right there behind your rv(if you get front row) you see all the action! We usually love being in Venice with the kids but this was better. With our rv right there means no packing crap to the beach or having to find a bathroom or someone's hungry. You can't see the shore lines where the kids swim but there's a lifeguard out there. Fire pits everywhere on the beach so bring your fire wood! My favorite as a mom and love to cook is cooking outdoors with an ocean view Staff was also very friendly and helpful! Cons; the airplanes. One flies over literally every minute. No joke. Seems to slow down for a couple hours at 2 am. Kids slept right through it. I was fine after getting ear plugs and turning the fan on. You get used to it during the day and not really pay attention to jt. However if you're a light sleeper you'd have a hard time. But keep telling yourself you're right on the beach! Dogs; I felt bad for my dog since there was no grass it's all pavement and they are not allowed on the beach. But I took her out at night and sometimes tied her up on the right over our fence so she saw all the action on some sand. We stayed in 29 and also 112. Next Time I am definitely going back and staying on the breach row. Hopefully you can see in my pictures where the kids can play right over the fence and able to keep an eye on them. They state that reservations can be changed, but they CANNOT BE CHANGED. Also, it takes 45 days to process a refund, yes FOURTY-FIVE days as in over 6 weeks, not 4-5 days just to be clear. Additionally if you cancel (because you are not allowed to make changes) you may not book ANY of the nights previously booked. read more

TLDR - it's a public RV park managed by the city of Los Angeles right on Dockweiler Beach. There are pros and cons with this. PROS: + right on dockweiler beach. trailer spots in the front row are separated from the sand by a small wooden fence. Even spots in the middle and back row are only 10-20 steps from the sand + full hookups, every spot + privacy. the park is protected by a gate arm which requires a passcode to enter. The beach is public, but not many people come here unless they are staying at the RV park. Compare this to nearby Dockweiler State Beach which is CROWDED + The Strand (bike path). this is a 22 mile bike path that connects Redondo Beach to Santa Monica. It's a nice bike path that goes along the beach and it is so much fun to ride bikes, ebikes, scooters along CONS: - full hookups are great, but they are placed in an AWKWARD position in each spot. its wayyyyy too far forward. you basically have three options: (1) park your trailer in the back of the spot and bring a really really REALLY long poop tube; (2) park your trailer in the back of the spot and do not connect your poop tube. Pull your trailer forward every couple days when you need to drain your tanks; (3) park your trailer in the front of the spot, connect your tubes, but then park your car in the spots along the fence in the rear of the property. (because there isn't enough space for your car if your trailer is in the front of the spot.) - airplanes/LAX - its LOUD. planes are taking off right above your head. The sound goes until about 11 PM at night and starts at 5 AM in the morning. if you are a deep sleeper, you'll be fine. We used a white noise machine to help drown out the sound. But it was still loud. - laundry room - I'm glad they have one and it accepts coins and also the PayRange app. But the machines are very rusty and old. - noise - aside from the airplane noise, some people party and play music until 11 at night especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Other nights it seemed to be quieter. read more

EPIC campsite - IF YOU can get it and you probably cant! DRY campsites are always empty - WHY! CUZ SOOOOO many arbitrary rules you can barely enter the place without breaking a rule. Also, rules are selective depending on the day and who you ask and maybe your ethnicity. IMPOSSILE to book online (I have never been able to figure out how to book online and Im a very seasoned camper and tech person - this is a ridiculous booking system! Essentially you have to book 24 hours in advance of your stay - IN PERSON, on site, so you'll be on your own for a night wherever you can get a spot while you wait and the entire camp is empty. YUP - they'll make you park on the street and wait til tomorrow for a site. Restrooms are impeccable! Campstore is awful, like NOTHING - so come correct. Dry camp sites are directly on the bike path, epic sunsets, definitely airplanes flying overhead all day/night but ya get used to it... and depending on wind direction, you get almost no noise, or FULL on JET, but again ya get used to it and it just becomes white noise. Which apparently I AM, cuz I got the security guard parked directly in front of my campsite, facing right at my camp. I asked him to move, he didn't, then I asked security to have him NOT watch ME as I am the ONLY person in the entire campground - he doesn't have to sit and LOOK directly AT me with lights on... SUPER invasive. He finally moved. the next night, same thing. It became a thing so I just moved my van to block them and had to bring in levelers as it isn't all level al over. IF you want privacy, you need to park with your rig facing the beach or else the security will park and look t you all night long.. Even if you are in a nice rig and doing basic camp stuff, they may sorta harrass ya, in a passive aggressive kinda way. Im not sure the security guards have ever been camping in Americana fashion, so there may be something missing in the general education of the people sent to protect the space. A VERY special place _ IF you can get it, and you probably can't. Also- the RV park is like a parking lot, so if you are into that, then you'll love it. We've been here for a week in our 27' travel trailer. This park has what you need: reliable hook-ups, level terrain, and restroom and shower facilities (currently closed during Covid--August 2021). The County is operating this park at 50% capacity. At full capacity, this place would be packed, with very little space between units. The beach is lovely, the breeze is refreshing, and fire pits are available on the sand if you want to have a bonfire. So why the low rating? Three things you need to know about Dockweiler RV Park: 1) The jet noise is LOUD, constant, and sleep-depriving. Not the park's fault, I know. But before you book here, do not let anyone under-state the noise level. I'm an airline pilot based at LAX, so I'm familiar with the daily operation. There is a short window between 0145 and 0600 with no departures, but the rest of the day and night, big airplanes take off from the south runway complex and cross the shoreline less than a mile from the RV park at full takeoff thrust. And that's LOUD. Close your windows, run your A/C, wear earplugs, party until 0145...find a strategy because you'll need one. 2) The guests? A combination of NASCAR infield and Cabo Wabo. If that's your thing, rock on. Your neighbors certainly will--all night--with music, fireworks, flatscreens, cruiser bikes and the occasional whiff of weed. The park employees will do NOTHING about noise after quiet hours, so you're on your own. I'm not sure which is more irritating--Boeing 777's blasting off at midnight, or half the park yelling, corn-holing, charcoaling and cranking stereos until all hours...find a strategy, blah blah blah. (The weekends are crazy; midweek is fairly mellow.) 3) Ants. This park's full of them. They will access your camper via the tires and axles, hoses, stabilizers, tongue jack, or anything else bridging the gap between your rig and the blacktop. Spraying Raid or Black Flag around all these points will keep the ants at bay. Mosquitos were also present during our stay in August. Would we stay here again? Probably not; we've already been looking for alternative sites for our next trip. But hey, it's an RV park literally on the beach with full hookups and it's close to lots of cool stuff. If you can tolerate jet noise, party noise, and a few bugs, you'll probably have a great time. read more

3 stars because it is right on beach and the best bike trail in the South Bay. Fire pits are also conveniently located right on Beach in front of the campground. Cons it smells sometimes as it's located across the street from the water treatment center. Planes taking off from LAX all night so it's noisy. But the biggest con are the bathrooms. Only 2 shower stalls and no area for brushing teeth , drying hair etc. Also the bathrooms are kinda gross and dirty. If you have a fully contained RV this may not be an issue but sometimes it's nice to still have somewhere to shower , clean up etc. If you want a really nice RV park with nice amenities but not right on the beach go to Newport Dunes. read more

I was able to call same day and get a one night reservation for the front row trailer side that backed up to the beach. We stayed in spot 15, I wouldn't do any other row as I liked over looking the beach and not another RV. You are directly underneath the LAX flight path which at times has planes flying over every 2 minutes. If your a light sleeper you may night like this or wear ear plugs to bed. It was ok with me but you could definitely hear it. I'm giving it a 3 star due to know quite hours being observed by other guests. There were kids running around screaming past midnight and no parents doing anything about it. Not sure if there is actual staff after hours 730pm monitoring this but it would be helpful. None was a deal breaker just an annoyance and more of a respect issue. It had a great view of the beach as you can step right out in to the sand from our sight. read more

Super nice day. 72 high, thought it would be cold but it's not. Sand is warm and for the cool ocean breeze just endlessly blowing away. The kids and fam are just having a blast in the largest sand box ever! The Beach! And best of all, we are staying the night and just chilling! As for the people and environment, so far so good. Brought our biked and saw a hang glider academy 0.6 miles away. Might check it out later. Well see.if I had to critique this place a bit, wished there were more vendors around. Eateries, shopping, shops? Huntington Beach seemed perfect for that. Maybe this place is just peace with the airplanes! Lol. read more

I don't understand the complaints! This is a very clean rv park. You are very close to the sand. Beachfront sites are great for people watching and for the awesome sunsets. Inside sites have views as well depending on who is in front of you. The bike trail is phenomenal. Clean and clear even separates you from pedestrians in several spots. The spaces are close together so be prepared if your neighbor sucks your trip might or you can just move your chairs to the beach or your in La take a drive visit a site eat somewhere new. The airplanes were fun to watch and the noise was not bothersome at all! My husband says 4.5 stars because our neighbors were ehhh. I can't blame the neighbors on the rv park so I'm sticking with 5 stars. read more

RV park is great being close to the beach but there are some things to beware of: Non-Campers seem to walk through the RV park as there is no gate or fences to keep the general public out Parking rules are strictly enforced but loud noise, and music late into the night after quiet hour does not seem to enforced If you bring any dogs, beware of fireworks that are shot off, both in the RV park and the beach every night. read more
