Doc's is a great place to get consistent service and food. I have been here a few times now and each time I always leave very full and satisfied. I definitely recommend this place if you're a fellow BBQ lover and want to try something different in this area! I love their brisket and their unique BBQ sauces. Each time I come I have to get their Texas fries. Their portions are huge and I always have left overs for the next day. I also like to get a side of their sausage because it's cooked so well. This is always a great spot for us when we're craving barbecue and want to stay close to home! The food is always delicious. The biggest plate of fries you will ever see in your life resides here. Great spot for good bbq in NWI. I have been coming here for few years now whenever I crave bbq and never left disappointed. Their beer selection is decent but their bourbon selection is well above average for this area. Check out their weekend specials. Sunday all day burnt ends is my favorite. Stopped here as we were in the area. Not sure how or why this is highly rated as we were highly disappointed. But I will start positive....The place has plenty of parking and note that the entrance is near the rear. It is a huge place with high and low seating and the bar area. Our waitress, Sierra, was very nice and answered questions we had on the menu. Place was clean in the eating area. Huge selection of beer if that is your thing. We ordered the smoked onion dip. Sierra let us know it was not traditional onion dip as they use red onion. Sounded interesting. It was not. There were huge chunks of onion and nothing was smoky about it. Lacked any flavor other than when you bit into the onion. It came with homemade chips that thankfully were not greasy. Next, our entrees came and we ordered the upcharge for 2 extra ribs. There are 5 bbq sauces on the table to choose from-I used the tangy and sweet to make something that I liked. I got the special which was the burnt ends with sides of collard greens and mac and cheese. The greens had too much vinegar so I could not even eat them. As for the mac and cheese-there was no amount of salt and pepper to help them. The cheese was a creamy tasteless offering. I keep garlic in my purse and I didn't even pull it out as it was beyond help. The burnt ends were a special that night and quality was mixed-some good and tender and some awful like biting into tofu. My friend had the ribs and the brisket baked beans. The ribs were actually tender, tasted okay and I believe they were steamed which gave them the fall off the bone help. However, those baked beans had seen better days. It was just mush and so dry. Overall, meat is okay and sides and apps need a lot of help. read more

I wanted to go to a place that I'd never been before so I decided on Doc's Smokehouse in Dyer, Indiana. My server's name was Aaliyah and she was very helpful; she explained the menu ( both food and drink ) in great detail. I asked what she would recommend for a 1st timer ; she was able to give me many endless options. I decided to start with a Hurricane drink; then I ordered the Buddy Guy Sandwich with baked beans. You all already know that I had to get French fries as well. The baked beans are called Bacardi Baked Beans and they were delicious. Doc's is very roomy, nice full bar , friendly staff and superb chefs in the kitchen. My sandwich was Amazing...the pulled pork was so tender that it literally melted in my mouth; hot link was tender as well. I couldn't imagine how I would eat the sandwich at first but Aaliyah explained it perfectly. Overall experience is Definitely 5 Stars. The place looks like it has great, incredible potential, however the greater with blonde hair and glasses, who kinda resembles Wormser from the movie Revenge of the Nerds kinda yelled at me, in an aggressive, snarly tone, for no reason. He destroyed my vibe and he needs to go. The place needs a culture change and an attitude adjustment. It all starts with getting a replacement for him. That's horrible customer service. You don't treat your customers like that. Respectful customer should come first, before anything. read more

Being a huge fan of BBQ I was excited to try out Doc's. Giant place with lots of seating. Came in around 6:45 for dinner and was sat on the inclosed patio area. They were busy in the 21plus area, inside. Ordered what's shown in the photos, overall I would give everything a 3 out of 5. Mac & cheese, Texas fries, pork rib, smoked wings, and the brisket sandwich. The watermelon margarita was a 10/10 though. Service was a bit slow as well. Wasn't great but wasn't bad. Doc's is solid BBQ. Atmosphere was good, very much a bar and grill feel and service was good. Everyone liked the BBQ including the pulled pork and brisket but the Jalapeno sausage was the standout and I would get that again. Lots of different BBQ sauces to dip in. read more

I've been here twice now in two years and forgot to do a review the first time. I don't come here often as it is an hour and a half drive for me and we'l worth it! Both times being here and over the course of two years service has been absolutely on point. While both visits were doing some pretty slow times of the business even though it was during lunchtime, I will say that the staff is definitely on their game. It is great that finding parking here is not a challenge and it is a huge parking lot even though the property shares the commercial space with other businesses The menus, pretty straightforward as far as barbecue options are concerned. And everything is delicious. We usually order a few items off the menu for two people so that it is sufficient and somehow we always end up with leftovers The alcohol and beer menu is just as expensive with great selection. The craft cocktails from the bar also delicious. Pricing here is fair and decent and considering that it's an Indiana you're not paying Illinois restaurant food tax of 11% Love coming back here and will continue to do so. read more

This review is based on the food they served from a food truck at the Sacred Rose Music festival. We got an order of loaded fries to split, and it was a bargain for the amount of food we got. There was brisket, barbeque sauce, chilis, queso, and probably other delicious things that really hit the spot. The food was fantastic. The service was efficient and the price was equally efficient

First of all food was great server was terrific. Very attentive. Only issue I had was at the end of the meal and they gave us the check. It showed a credit card service fee was being added onto the bill. I used my debit card and ask them if that credit card service fee would be taken off if I use my debit card the server wasn't sure because she was fairly new so I asked her to ask her manager. She came back and said no that credit card service is still gonna be on there even though I'm using a debit card that's not a credit card. Anywhere else that I've been where they had that credit card service fee and I've used my debit card. They've told me that that service fee would be removed because I'm using a debit card because it's not a credit card they're not being charged a service fee to use a debit card so I'm a little miffed that the manager didn't know that and I was still charge the service fee. So that's why I'm only giving it three stars. read more

Had a nice late lunch today at Docs. They have an excellent beer menu and we got a flight to split. I ordered the chicken sandwich from the nonacoustic part of the menu and a side of mac. The sandwich was very good. I would try a different side next time but the mac was fine - just a bit boring. My husband got the brisket also from the nonacoustic selection. He loved it. He also liked his baked beans. We also ordered a garden salad and that was pretty boring but fine. Overall we had great service and a good lunch. We will be back. I would love if they'd add some more vegetable options and maybe a vegetarian meat alternative but I know that's a big ask for a bbq place. read more

Jesse the server was wonderful, ask for her. She was helpful in navigating the menu, and very attentive. I also told her to surprise me when i ordered my drink and she knocked it out of the park, loved the revolver. I give her 10 stars. I knocked a star off because the prime rib was a bit tough, couldn't finish it. The pig wings and the chocolate pie were amazing. The brisket, wings, pilled pork, chicken and turkey were all excellent. We loved the sauces, fries, salad, baked beans and Mac and cheese. Great portion sizes as well! I have been wanting to go to Doc's ever since I saw a random Facebook post of people listing best BBQ they have had. A commenter said Doc's which is 30 minutes from my fiancé. That person sure knew their BBQ. First of all, Doc's looks like it is in a huge warehouse. But it is very modern and up to date inside. There is a small bar area with TVs but plenty of tables around. Sweet tea from Indiana for this Bama Boy is always a gamble but Doc's sweet tea was refreshingly sweet. My fiance and I split a 3 meat with ribs, pork, and brisket. It came with 2 sides. My fiance loves fries to dip them in BBQ sauce and we chose mac and cheese. We also had Bicardj beans added to our order. All the meats were phenomenal! I would rank the ribs and brisket above the pork. There are 5 sauces on the table and they had a Carolina mustard. My favorite sauce was the sweet. It was not your average sweet ketchup base. I couldn't figure it out but there is something unusual added to it to give it a zing. My 2nd favorite was the Memphis which was all tangy. The Alabama white sauce was more like a horseradish sauce. The mac and cheese was easily the best side which lots of cheesy goodness. I can't complain about the fries. The beans was good but nothing special. Doc's is pricey but the quality you get is worth it. This was easily a 5. read more

Didn't actually dine at the restaurant--they had a truck at the Broad Street Blues & BBQ Festival (in Griffith, IN)--but I can't recommend the ribs enough! Seemed to be prepared with a really nice dry rub, and we had a few options on the side for sauce (in order of favorites: spicy, tangy, and sweet). The festival announcer even said they were voted best sauce at the fest. But I also tried some of the other ribs at the fest, and it's hard for me to believe anyone else had better ribs. Had dinner there last Saturday night but did not have the Prime Rib special. The place has lots of draft options. Probably more than 40 if not more. They also have a large selection of bourbons. There are plenty of bbq options and plenty of weekly specials to choose from. They have five different sauces that can be used and plenty of side options. We typically sit at the bar and the service is always good. They have lots of tvs and the place is usually pretty loud but overall a good place to get bbq in the area. read more

Ambiance dark. Outside dining available however, whatever temp is outside is what you will feel inside while eating. Someone recommended this place. We went on a Saturday night and they were out of 3 main meats leaving a choice between brisket, prime rib or chicken wings. Also, out of 2 sides that night. I decided to try all their sides they had available. Out of 6 available the Mac and cheese was the only decent side. The worse sides are collard greens and Bacardi baked beans. Wings were nothing outstanding. Brisket same as any other BBQ place. Prime rib they say they only cook medium because that's how you cook that type of meat but it was raw. We asked them to cook it a little bit longer and they refused to do so. When I packaged up the prime rib and opened it the next day, there was so much blood on the bottom of the prime rib that it had coagulated, that's how raw it was. Needless to say we had to order another entrée because the person who ordered it would not eat raw meat. So they went on the safe side and ordered a salad. I am kind of flabbergasted that they would be out of mostly all of their meats on a weekend. I do not recommend this place. I just recommend this place as a bar to get drinks and that is it. Staff not friendly just there doing what they need to do. Plenty of other barbecue places try those out first. read more
