I sought out Implant & Periodontic Specialists originally because I needed my wisdom teeth removed. I chose a periodontist because after seeing my husband go through his wisdom teeth removal with an oral surgeon and leaving him with periodontal pockets, I did not want the same thing to happen to me. Upon meeting Dr. Raval he was very professional and detailed in his exam. What I most appreciated about Dr. Raval was that he not only evaluated my wisdom teeth to be removed, he also evaluated my entire mouth as a whole unit. He found that due to my wisdom teeth being present for the past 10 years, they caused my once straight teeth to become crowded; it was to the point that I was only biting on my wisdom teeth. This was causing me a lot of jaw discomfort and Dr. Raval noted all of this and took it into consideration when customizing a treatment plan for me. My treatment plan created by Dr. Raval included removing my wisdom teeth, removing a frenectomy on my lower front teeth that was causing recession, braces to correct my bite and re-align my teeth to where they once used to be. To be honest, I was not the most excited about having braces, but everything he said made a lot of sense and if I wanted to have a harmonious bite, then I would need to look into getting braces. Dr. Raval referred me to an orthodontist who specializes in adult braces and he said they would work together on creating a plan for correcting my bite. Fast forward in time... After meeting with the orthodontist, Dr. Raval and him discussed what movement would need to happen to get my smile back. They also discussed the potential downside of moving my teeth without having Dr. Raval perform a PAOO. Which is a surgery to help make sure my teeth won't be moved outside my bone and be left with even thinner gum tissue and less bone supporting my teeth then I had to begin with due to genetics. Now I can happily say that having my wisdom teeth out was one of the best decisions I've made. Having braces and a PAOO surgery performed by Dr. Raval that coincided with my braces, was an even better decision! My bite now meets together in beautiful harmony and my jaw pain is no longer. I will continue to put my trust in the Implant & Periodontic Specialists team because they have provided me with nothing but the best care and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and well informed throughout the process. Dr Raval, his partners, and his full care team are without question the very best there is. I have been his patient since he first joined the practice and eventually took over. He has seen me through extensive complications, treatments and a whole lot of pain. The care he has for his patients is unmatched. He's even taken care of me on a Sunday when I had an issue in Brazil by FaceTiming with local surgeons and directing my care from afar. And his work is superb. Don't get me wrong....its never fun....but I feel extremely confident in his treatment plans, surgeries, and ongoing care. He's already placed 5 implants with 2 more coming, and he takes the time to know his patients and ensures a comprehensive plan that will last decades on end. He's also always available with all my issues (which I hate bugging him after hours, but the fact he took care of me on a Sunday while in a Brazilian hospital shows his commitment and care). Plus, he's actually a really cool guy with a great personality and sense of humor, and does everything he can to save your natural teeth and not quick to sell his services (I'm the one usually trying to convince him to pull and place implants). And his team. Superb! I get all my cleanings there, as well as my family. When I call, they know me and are extremely friendly and personable. When I go in (which is unfortunately often) I'm greeted as if I just got home after a long trip. Their hygienists are the absolute best (photo of me and our old one below who now works on the business side but is like an old friend), and know all my issues and how to properly care for me during my bi-monthly cleanings. And I can't say enough about the assistants, especially Thi. She's takes amazing care of me during every surgery and visit, and is gentle and kind. Anyone looking for a superior Periodontist/oral surgeon, look no further. From implants to gum grafts and everything else, I wouldn't trust anyone but Dr Raval ...for me or my family. Every year on 9/11 Dr Sweeney and his team participate in Freedom Day, a day in which they offer free exams, cleaning, and xrays to service members, veterans, and their families. As a USMC veteran, I was able to quickly and easily make an appointment for all of the above. The team was professional, personable, and everyone in the office clearly enjoyed working with one another. The cleaning was quick and surprisingly gentle, the xrays were taken with speed and accuracy, and the staff made sure I understood what was going on at all times. What really set this visit apart, and why I feel compelled to offer a review on Yelp, is what Dr Sweeney did for me that was totally unexpected after the cleaning. Due to some shoddy dental work in the past and a few root canals that proved unsuccessful, I have had to have 2 of my molars previously removed. Dr Sweeney managed to get a couple of implants donated from the manufacturer and offered them to me to replace my missing teeth. He did this without any charge to me for the materials or labor involved with the implants. He went on to assure me that he would be providing the follow up care and the installation of the replacement teeth at cost or free, depending on what he could work out with the other folks involved. When he told me what he was going to do for me as a means of thanking guys like me who served, I could not help but begin to tear up a little. I thought it would be another 5-10 years before I would be able to afford the high cost of this treatment, even with insurance. If you find yourself looking for a dental team who is highly professional, incredibly warm-hearted, funny, and who do their best to give back to the community, please make an appointment at Implant and Periodontic Specialists of Bellevue. Great dental care is never cheap, but not getting care for your teeth ultimately costs much more. Your patronage also might help someone like me get the care they so desperately need. Went to this office base on referral for "one troubled tooth". Seeking answer on how to cure / fix / repair this "one troubled tooth." The only solution I got back from the doctor was the "whole" mouth treatment and his way of doing things. I can understand that, but let's focus on my "one troubled tooth" for now and worry about the rest later... the doctor gave me a feeling of it's going to be his way or the highway and there was no compromise; he even said I will not be helping you with the "one troubled tooth" it will be another dentist. Feels like if it ain't in their best interest ($), they won't do help you. About 6 weeks later I get a statement from this office that I owe $65 because my insurance didn't cover the whole exam fee. Well, my insurance does cover 100% and based on the usual customary and reasonable charge and in this case, this office over charged by that amount. I later spoke with the office manager, Lisa who was going to discuss with the doctor (akimoto) who performed the exam about the chage and get back to me But instead, my wife gets a call from the office later while she's at work. My wife was humiliated by akimotos office staff on the phone and was demended for the $65.05 payment over the phone. They say they tell you the charges over the phone, but until you see it in black and white, don't trust these people. Plenty of other Periodontists in the area and do your research and find the best doctor / office for you. read more

A friend had referred me to Dr. Raval. I'd known for awhile that I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed, but due to other dental issues I had been putting it back for awhile. Unfortunately, since I'd waited so long, my wisdom teeth had become extremely impacted and was told that the surgery would be pretty complicated, but not to worry because they would take good care of me. Let me just say that I've never felt like more of a princess than with Dr. Raval and his assistant (Eva)! They gave me a blanket straight from the dryer so that it was nice and warm and had me laughing even before they gave me the laughing gas. I was nervous about being put under and before I knew it, I was out and don't remember a thing. Dr. Raval even personally texted me later that evening to check in and see how I was doing! I have never received such great care and service from any other dentist. I highly recommend to anyone getting their wisdom teeth out to go see him. Of course, the swelling and pain occurred during the healing process, but nothing that he could have prevented. read more

Dr. Ravel is an awesome surgeon! I extracted two wisdom teeth and had PAOO on upper gum during one procedure with IV sedation. It was done smoothly before I even realize that I opened my mouth. The bleeding stopped by the end of surgery day (so about 12 hrs after), and I didn't feel the need to take pain killers. Only took some Arnica tablets as suggested to help with the swelling. No bruising for me. Swelling started to relieve on 4th day post-op, and was completely gone after a week. I was also able to eat a restricted diet comfortably since 2nd day post-op, and resume normal diet a week later (tho I've been avoiding seeds & nuts, and rinsing mouth after eating). I felt that my surgery sites were skillfully treated such that it didn't give me problems of food stuck or pain when chewing, unlike others have complained about their wisdom teeth extractions. Everyone was surprised at how well and fast I recovered, and I give that credit to Dr. Ravel :) read more

Dr Sweeney is the best Periodontist. I have had gum disease for 3 years due to supporting my late husband through liver cancer and all the stressors that go along with it. Dr Sweeney and his staff have been a God-sent. They have been so supportive and amazing that I could not ask for a better Periodontist. I enjoy going to the office as it is always clean and enjoyable. Magazines, granola bars and Keurig machine before getting my teeth clean (or after). Only a minute before entering the office for my appointment, never waiting more than 5 minutes. Nazie, the hygienist, greets me and is most professional and friendly. She is the best hygienist as she really knows what she is doing. She is very professional and friendly and most importantly, thorough. Everyone in the office from the front desk, to the billing is professional and thorough. They treat their patients with care. They are definitely the best. read more

Dr. Raval is the best dental specialist I have ever received treatment from and I have had a LOT of treatment recently! Dr. Raval completed a gum graft and bone graft in February 2017. I was quite concerned about both procedures, but to my great surprise, they were both a piece of cake. The recovery was comfortable and very quick and the results 2 months later are pretty much a miracle considering my gum and bone recession problems. I am in braces and Dr. Raval was able to do all the work with minimal interruption to my braces and ortho treatments and the results he achieved actually have speeded up my ortho results. Dr. Raval and his staff are very kind and take all the time to answer questions, assure their patients and provide aftercare. I can't say enough good things about Dr Sweeney. First time around everything to do with my gum surgery went perfectly. About a year later I noticed my gum had gotten thin again. I went to see him and he assured me he'd do another quick surgery to repair it for free. I was already grateful but then it dawned on me afterwards that it must have been my fault the tissue had worn down the first time. I had been brushing much too hard in that area with my Braun electric tooth brush. I don't know why I didn't think of that before. Now that I'm brushing it more softly I can tell a total difference. I apologized to Dr Sweeney and he was so kind. He told me it didn't matter. He just wanted to see the job finished properly and wasn't concerned about the money part of things. Dr. Sweeney is an outstanding implant specialist with excellent skills and the most up-to-date equipment. I had a very difficult gum situation. After 12 months of treatment by my previous dentist, I suffered a failed tooth implant, my gum was swollen and bleeding. I went to see Dr. Sweeney after reading about his expertise. Dr. Sweeney immediately diagnosed the problems caused by the work of my previous dentist. He cleared out all the failed bone graft from my gum, cleaned the area, repaired my gum and implanted new bone graft. All the procedures were carried out very smoothly, causing significantly less pain than the work of my previous dentist, and resulting in a healthy implant. I greatly appreciate Dr. Sweeney's highly competent efforts and caring attitude, letting me have a big smile again! read more

I'm a college student and was apprehensive about the cost. I had a minor infection due to complicated wisdom tooth that Tom suggested a small surgery (cutting back the gum) to fix permanently. I decided to stick to my plan of getting out of college before paying for $1000 surgeries. When I came back for my cleaning, however, Dr. Sweeney surprised me by performing it free of charge, a "minor inconvenience to him for a large convenience to me". It has probably saved me countless troubles in the future, for which I am indebted. No matter how good and knowledgeable a dentist/doctor is, it is important that I feel at ease with any of my providers. What I love with Dr Sweeney is that he makes me feel at ease. It lessens the anxiety of having dental procedures done. I am a registered nurse so I know if a doctor has good bedside etiquette. He has all the qualities I am looking for in a dentist. I trust his expertise and knowledge. I recently had my dental implants and would recommend Dr Sweeney to any of my friends and relatives. His staff at his office are all very friendly. I have been a patient at Dr. Perio for over a year now. Initially I saw Dr. Neal Raval - and always had an excellent experience (tooth extraction, implant, and several follow ups). Last week I went for a deep perio cleaning and saw Dr. Malika Jhawar. Overall the experience was very good - quick check-in, less than 5 minute wait, very good bedside manner from Dr. Jhawar and overall great care. The team there has been extremely professional and courteous and follow-up/follow-thru is prompt. Their practice seems quite busy but my calls/questions have been answered promptly with diligence. Dr. Raval and his staff have provided me with the highest quality of care. I've had 2 wisdom teeth pulled and bone grafts (PAOO) done on my lower jaw thus far. I was rather nervous for both procedures but Jenna did a wonderful job of calming me down and making me feel at ease. I started out seeing Dr. Sweeney, a periodontist, in the '80's at his practice in Northgate. When he moved to Bellevue I followed him there. Since he has retired this review is about Nazie,one of the hygienists. She is extraordinary. Her skills are excellent. She is gentle and checks with me frequently when she is cleaning my teeth. I appreciate that she listens to me and takes time to explain procedures and the status of my teeth and gums health wise.
