T in post-op was very helpful…read more The procedure was an hour and fifteen minutes late! The preop rooms aren't rooms but cubes. There is no privacy and you can hear everything. Talk about HIPAA concerns. And it's gross. Yet I found the whole process completely dysfunctional, receiving multiple emails with confusing instructions. They threaten to charge you a cancellation fee for noncompliance but honestly the whole process was confusing and easy to mess up bc it was not clear. The prep used --Plenvu--contained phenylalanine (aspartame). In addition to not being very safe, it tasted awful. There is no reason to use an artificial sweetener in a bowel prep. It's not healthy. I'm not sure this was the best prep to offer patients. Overall, I'm wasn't happy with the facility & procedures, but T in post-operative did help make it easier. The receptionist was rude and patronizing, refusing to allow me to speak with the preop contact , T, that I had been dealing with. The nursing staff, however, were extremely friendly. That was another plus. Also, family/friends aren't allowed in the waiting area. This can be especially stressful for children or adults who are scared and need a support system around them

Concerning the facility, it is on the smaller side from what I was use to but once inside it ran as efficiently and pleasantly as any I've been to. I can't compliment the staff highly enough, as they were all professional and extremely helpful and courteous. The procedure went well and was implemented flawlessly. She was there for less than an hour, and all that was performed by the doctor was a cervical exam. She was found to be having pre-term contractions, with no dilation, and was then sent home. My wife received an invoice for $396.90. The hospital billed the insurance $2,646.00 and the insurance paid $3,784.10! All this for a cervical exam at the emergency room! I called INOVA billing on December 17 to inquire about the charges. I was told that the invoice would get sent over to see if it was coded correctly. I also requested a detailed itemized bill, with a breakout of the services provided. What I received was very basic and didn't provide much information. It is shocking that INOVA hospital would bill such a high amount for just a cervical exam. This appears to have been billed improperly and I called to investigate. INOVA billing didn't get back to me, so I opened up a BBB complaint. INOVA denied any wrongdoing, and now I'm going to contact my insurance to get an audit because this doesn't add up. $3700 paid by the insurance for a cervical exam, and I still owe about $400 in co-insurance?!?! How can INOVA be a nonprofit?!?!

I wanted to document the horrible…read morecustomer service my wife and I experienced from the INOVA FAIRFAX HOSPITAL NICU during a 3.5 month span. The best part of this review is that my wife and I gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Due to her being a preemie, she stayed in the hospital for an extended period where we experienced first hand the broken healthcare system and instances of malpractice within the NICU. Regarding the care of our daughter, it was a frustrating experience from the beginning! There was a great communication barrier between us and the hospital staff, to include front desk personnel, nurses, doctors, supervisors and upper level hospital management. To make a long story short, this hospital failed us, often picking and choosing what protocols they should follow, and not providing key information to us that they promised to deliver. In our initial complaint, we spoke to the supervisor to explain the discrepancy in communication, and all they could do is apologize, and attempted to justify the behavior of their staff. In addition, we noticed a big disservice that the nurses were providing. Many nurses were on their phones, reading books and having leisure conversations outside of the infants rooms while alerts were going off that required immediate attention for their assigned babies. There was also a clear incompetence displayed by the night-time staff and nurses compared to the dayshift. Calling at night-time for updates was a nuisance due to the ignorant staff saying that they did not know the answers to basic questions. We would often be advised to just check with the day shift. Doctors and nurses alike agreed that the night-time staff doesn't really know anything and verified that the care at night is often not up to par! Therefore, the night-time staff doesn't really do anything to advance the child. There is also a disparity in the amount of minority (African-American) nurses at the unit. The few black nurses that provided care for our daughter expressed concerns with how the unit was being handled. Specifically, one of our daughter's nurses explained her reasoning to transition from full-time to part-time due to her inability to do what she studied and practiced for years regarding taking care of babies. Instead, she explained that at INOVA Fairfax, the nurses are simply tasked with following the doctor's orders even if it is contrary to what the child needs. Although the nurses are the primary care-givers for the children, their feedback is not really valued and that presents a major disservice to the families. As it relates to the doctors, it was frustrating due to the many doctors we would see on a week to week basis, all had differing opinions regarding our daughter's care. In most instances, it seemed as if no action was their best course of action instituted. As a result, every milestone that our daughter accomplished was initiated by us. With such a slow trajectory regarding our daughter's care, it inspired us to look into how her development could be expedited to get her home as quickly and safely as possible. Every suggestion that we made was implemented, and our daughter never had to go backwards. That presents a major quandary on behalf of the hospital because the doctor's get paid to make the decisions. Consequently, in this case, we were proposing all the decisions, and they would just say, "ok, then, let's try it." There is plenty more that transpired, but due to limitations I cannot share. However, if you are a minority and are having a baby, you may want to reconsider contrary to INOVA Fairfax.

Your time spent with the doctor is longer than in any other office I've been in. Plus, the doctor is listening to you and not typing things into his computer because there is a medical scrip taking notes of what he says and you say the entire time. He's paying complete attention to you. Bloodwork is done in-house, you get the results the same day or while you wait for no additional charge. My current doctor is Dr. Hodes and he knows me. He knows my wife. He isn't so overwhelmed with patients that I'm otherwise just a number. The messaging service is also fantastic. Once, my wife sustained a liquid burn on her hand and by sending a picture through the app, she was prescribed a cream immediately (on a Sunday) and she was able to get it and use it the same day. Yes, it is concierge medicine, but when you count up all your co-pays that you no longer have to pay, I think this is a fair deal, especially if you really care about your health.

The technology there is mind blowing! I've never been this excited about going back to the doctors office. They are also super responsive. You stay connected with them via an app and can send messages at any time of day. Just last night I sent them my 23andMe results (they give you a free test with registration) at 1:03am and got a response back at 1:20am saying it was received. Crazy!! Like I said, nothing but great things to say about them so far.

Go somewhere else esp if you have any health issues or allergies. Mystery pills they prescribe i don't approve of at all. Waste of money and energy and ended up bed ridden for 2.5 months due to several adverse reactions to their " treatments. " Too much to get into but in brief the pills interfered with medications I take to live and function, this is most recent. Last year anaphylaxis twice from the random stuff taken. If I had the energy and time ( which I've lost due to their practice) - I'd possibly bring a suit for malpractice. Fortunately for them, I was robbed of both. Just to note I take full responsibility for agreeing to take stuff the company wasn't even sure of the effects or ingredients . This being said, after the first reaction i agreed to substitute something else, same issue. This is after telling the practice my health issues , meds I have to take to stay alive, and endless allergies. At one appointment the physician was not aware a suggestion she made contained a certain ingredient. That's malpractice at worst , or simple ineptitude at best. Footnote- I take responsibility for continuing to try different drugs despite the doctors several mistakes. ( they were aware of what I could/couldn't do and the medications I have to take to stay alive. I figured I'm already in maybe see where this goes, huge mistake. ) Several times. Then at one appointment made a suggestion I had to correct. ( that enzyme landed me in the hospital last year. I looked your suggestion up it's almost identical ).
