I have always had a pleasant experience coming to Doctors On Sight. The front desk staff has always been super helpful; the optometrists take the time to explain in further detail answers to any questions I may have. I have even taken my 6 year old son for an eye exam and it was smooth sailing. Two minor issues that did catch my attention... I was a little saddened to find out when I went for an exam and new frames that they no longer carry Gucci frames (yea, I'm a tad boujee); however, I did find an awesome pair of grey Prada frames that are amazing! The gentleman and young lady who assist with the fittings were phenomenal! Super helpful and gave their honest opinions when I was trying on frames. Second issue is that it took about an extra week and a half for my frames to arrive for me to pick-up. Now, I don't think this was any fault of Doctors On Sight, but I kept getting quotes that my glasses would be ready on a certain date and they weren't. I was super PRESSED for my new glasses (like a kid at Christmas) and would call back every few days for an update. All in all, my family will be back and the interior upgrade makes this place look even more welcoming and up-to-date! read more

This is my regular eye care center for routine eye exams to keep my contact Rx up to date. Well this time I really needed help. It was painful to wear my right eye contact. No matter how many times I clean it it was still painful so I had to pull the glasses out. My medical doctor couldn't see me soon so I went to Dr. Cohen at doctors on sight and he diagnosed it as a corneal abrasion. One week of just wearing glasses, antibiotic eye drops and eye ointment and I was good as new. Yes I've read other reviews and their eyeglass prices are pretty high, but it's a professional environment with competent staff. I'm not going anywhere else. read more

My appointment was for 11:30AM. After filling in 3 pages of paperwork and sitting for an hour, my name was finally called. I left at 2:30PM. Yep, 3 darn hours for a routine eye examine and ordering a pair of glasses. (I took about 15 minutes to select eyeglass frames.) Yes, I agree with Yelper Scott K., this place is totally unorganized and inefficient. I'm lucky there was only a few customers, perhaps. I suspect that is because there was only 1 optometrist. No excuse. Set the appointments accordingly if that is the case. My eyeglass wearing Plus 1 was with me. She goes to another place in Ft Washington and was considering moving her business here until she experienced this with me. She says her appointments never take longer than 30 minutes. Shucks, I could have driven to Ft Washington and seen her Doc in less time than it took here. It's true that the staff is nice and very tactful. However, that doesn't offset the inefficiencies built into the office processes. Managers need to figure out how to fix this not the workers. Yes, the physical layout of the building is appealing visually and there is a wide selection of eyeglass frames. Parking is easy and near. Nevertheless, I will consider moving my business next year. This was to painful today. Note: There are 2 businesses in this one building working together. Optometrists service is performed by Doctors on Sight and eyeglasses by My Vision Express, I think. My personal experience has certainly been an unfavorable one here at this location. I came into Doctor's On Sight (DOS) in Waldorf Maryland for a frame adjustment several weeks ago (June 2011). I brought two glasses in for a frame adjustment which had been previously purchased in Manhattan New York at a high-end boutique each totaling a little over $400.00 (Frames, Per-Script, Non-scratch, Polarized - the works!). The first pair being Channel's, and the second being Christian Dior's. The woman/tech who adjusted my frame was nice and appeared to know her job well. However, within 7 minutes my Christian Dior's which had only been worn three times (due to the sliding off my face) were SNAPPED towards the end of the right ear piece. The tech was stunned, shocked, and could not believe that this had happened. The tech expressed that the last time this had happened was five year ago and she just felt terrible, at one point I was consoling her (go figure...but I really did feel bad for her). The tech quickly engaged her manager who worked over the next 2 1/2 weeks to see if her regional manager would replace them. To my dismay they declined because their position was that they have a posted sign that states they are not responsible for damages done to frames. I do not recall seeing it when I came in, but this is their policy. While I understand their policy and as a business owner myself respect the liability they are trying to avoid, as a potential client (no-longer) I must now replace a pair of glasses that are discontinued and very difficult to find. Now I did find a pair on Amazon for $189.00 which isn't a great deal of change to assign to an overhead expense account when you are trying to do the right thing even when your policy says it's not necessary -- but that's just me I guess. They declined to take that road and expressed the possibility of giving me a "deep discount" on one of their pairs. Don't mean to be rude but they have NOTHING close to the quality you would find on Lexington Ave in New York City. Plain and simple I was taught "never to pass up an opportunity to do the right thing." Here is the goal and message I am trying to send in writing this review: 1.) Take your business to Lens Crafter's or Weinstein and Associates next to Red Robin in Waldorf Maryland. They also have heated frame equipment available and may also have a similar policy but now you know (DOS) could care less if they break your glasses. Guess I took one for the team. 2.) Bad business affects more than just your bottom line, it also affects your reputation. Business Owner's 101: Reputation is TIMELESS. 3.) What goes around, inevitably comes around. Tell me, what business owner/ regional manager wants payback in a down economy? Hummm....let's see....NOBODY????? 4.) Finally, as a business owner/CEO even if I was wrong -- I believe we always have a choice; an opportunity to make it right. Common decency should never be an afterthought. I realize that many will not agree with me and that's fine, they are not the ones $400.00 or now $189.00 short. In Conclusion: Be aware of store policies and when you are treated like a "non-factor"....write a review and let everyone know about it. The full names of those employees at Doctor's On Sight at Waldorf Maryland are withheld because they did their best to accommodate my unfortunate situation, however had I been given access to the regional manger or decision makers name, it would have been listed below in bold red letters! Doctors on sight is an expensive eye center. I have insurance that covers an eye exam at most places, but with insurance, my portion of the eye exam is $43. Contact lens exam $95 to $140 on top of the eye exam co-pay. They do a good job, but I am sure you can get an equal eye exam somewhere else for cheaper. (Medically, I would give them a 5-star review) I have never had any issues with the receptionists not being polite. I heard that there is a chart in the back room that tracked how much money they generated each month. I don't know if it is true, but if doctors and technicians are getting rewards for upselling products and services, that feels pretty bad. read more

Made an appointment for my wife and receptionist confirmed all information from us with insurance. I called the day before the appointment to make sure everything has been taken care of but come to find out the appointment was never scheduled after all. Never again will go somewhere. Poor customer service, no apologies. Stay away!!! read more

This place is unorganized and dis functional . I've come 3 times in 3 weeks and not once have I seen the same face working here. First experience at this location a few months ago was ok -- had some metal frames from another place refitted and fixed after my daughter mangled them, and picked out some sturdier plastic frames for my 2 year old and the staff fitting and selling the frames were great. Front desk seemed to hate their jobs and were not helpful in processing insurance info. Got a text when her glasses were ready and we were able to pick them up quickly and get them fitted. Several months later we returned. Daughter broke frames, went in to have them fixed... but they couldn't, so luckily they were under warranty and we ordered a replacement. It was Christmas Eve and we were told we'd receive a text when they came in in approximately two weeks. I waited a few days past the two week mark what with the holidays and all, no text. Called and was told someone would have to look into it and call me back. No call within 24 hours so I called again. This time I'm told someone tried to call me on the 30th. No missed call, no voicemail, no text message. When I asked why no additional attempts were made in the nearly 2 weeks after the initial attempt, I did not get a straight answer. Not pleased. We will go back to the optical shop in La Plata for our 2 year old's future needs. Would've been many years of income from our family had they not provided pathetic customer service. read more

My last eye exam was a year ago; however my eyesight hasn't changed so all I wanted was to get another pair of frames for my current lenses! My frames were broken but Drs on Sight said they couldn't be fixed. I was told I couldn't exchange frames because each lense is specific to a particular frame. I would have to have another eye exam and purchase a new frame and lense. They didn't have any appointments availabe until later in the week or next. I thought about it as I drove home and decided to stop in Sam's club. The optometrist was on duty when I walked in. I explained my situation and she said sure we can give you a new pair provided I can find one to fit your current lenses. Long story short...I walked out 20 mins later with new frames with my current lenses and it only cost me $57.00. read more

I've been a customer here for over 10 years. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating and the doctors very knowledgeable. The office manager is always on her A game and willing to work with you on that favorite pair of frames you just gotta have! Now that I have a family of my own, we all are now patients. I had a very long wait to see the optometrist although there were no other customers. I believe he was at lunch. Why my appointment was set up While he was at lunch I have no idea. The staff were all very nice but the optometrist was rude and rushed. My exam was an awkward experience. My boys and I have eye exams coming up at Weinstein as we need to replace our glasses/sunglasses. I just do not have the time or patience to sit around waiting to be seen well after my scheduled appointment time and/or to be treated rudely. read more

Doctors are excellent, front desk staff is very nice but do not know what they're doing.... I've worked in a Dental office for three years and know how ordering from a lab works. My glasses had a "guaranteed delivery date" of Dec 13th. I call on Dec 13th and they're not in.. and the girl at the front said she'd have to call the lab. I asked her to call me back with an update and got no call. Not even a courtesy call to say the lab didn't answer the phone or anything. I call again the following day and they say that the glasses "didn't pass inspection" and It will be until Monday... if you're going to "guarantee" a delivery date to a patient you should probably be sure to call the patient and let them know that it's no longer accurate...very disorganized and I'm very disappointed. This is my 3rd visit for a routine check-up with this clinic in 3 years. Although my 2 previous check-ups were pretty average, today was special. The staff were extremely helpful, even offered us coffee which lead to one other patient mentioning that you hardly get those nowadays. But what made this visit awesome was the excellent care that the 2 doctors who saw me rendered. Kudos Drs Varghai and Cohen! Dr. Varghai was the primary and she was very thorough and did what was necessary testing and not more that it'll stack up the bill. Results of the testing were also properly explained. Dr. Cohen who was the supervising doctor was also around for most of the examination. And did I mention that the rest of the staff were very helpful? ~I did but they're worth mentioning again. read more

If I could give them below one star I would. I went to Doctors on Sight and purchased a pair of glasses (frames on sale) which was paid in full. Seven months later they sent me a bill for $20 plus. When I called about the bill, I was told that they adjusted the price. How can you go back and make a price adjustment after the fact? It seems a bit crooked to me. My spouse had bifocals made last year, June 2015, and they were redone 2 or 3 times which was blamed on the lab for incorrect lenses, incorrect shading, etc. This year he had an exam and ordered bifocals and was told they would be ready in about 10 days if not sooner. After 17 days without hearing from them, he called and was told they'd have to check and call back. After about 3 hrs, spouse called back and they stammered and said they had the wrong lenses (just like last year) and would have to reorder. What probably happened was they didn't order them (just like last year). We've been patients here for over 10 years and last year, because of my experience, I said I wasn't returning but my husband insisted on giving them a 3rd chance as this has happened to him 3 yrs running.
