Ok...so first and foremost let me say that I'm in no way shape, fashion or form a vegan. My wife is more so the vegan of the family. We were literally parked in front of Dodah's todays while we ran around the corner for boba tea and then down the block to university market for chicken wings...we sat in the car and had our little lunch date but we kept seeing folks running in and out of this spot. So I checked the yelp reviews and was interested. We decided to pop in and just grab something to drink and just take in the vibe of the place. My wife doesn't like to just get drinks from a place so she got a side of collard greens... This is where the addiction started...these greens were bomb af...they easily top any other collards I've had outside of my grams house and if I'm being honest these def give her a run for her money. We continued to run our errands for the day and got home a little after 7...and we decided to run back out to grab dinner from here. My wife got the entree with 2 sides (general tso cauliflower with the sweet kale salad, chick peas and a base of quinoa) Her entire platter was overly full...(not upset about it AT ALL) and everything tasted absolutely delicious. *pause* We sat in the car when we left to have a little taste test of everything and they didn't disappoint. Me being the non vegan I opted for the "cheesesteak". For one it was plenty enough "meat" two thick slices of tomato, lettuce & pickle. The "cheese" was I believe a spicy jalapeño "cheese" sauce that was smeared on the bread(which was perfectly soft but firm btw) vs being mixed in...which Was something I didn't know I needed until today. I'm a cheesesteak/steak & cheese snob and this one here definitely makes the cut for the top 2. In addition to both of our meals we got a CUT not a slice of pumpkin cake and the ginger lemonade. Please do yourself a favor and order some delicious Vegan soul food from here! I stopped by late on a Saturday afternoon and got an entree w/ 2 sides. I went with the pepper steak (which they included red beans and rice underneath) and my sides were collard greens and Mac & cheese. I'm not a huge fan of mock meats, but the pepper steak was still really well seasoned and enjoyable. What I really can't get over is how INCREDIBLE the collard greens and Mac & cheese were. This is the best vegan Mac I've ever had. As far as the portions they really piled it on, which was very welcome! Super filling meal for such a great price. Literally would've cost me the same for a non-vegan meal of the same size so there's no reason not to choose this! The actual restaurant is a pretty small sliver of the building with a few tables on one side. They have the food in warmers (Chipotle style) behind the glass and some desserts and drinks next to the counter. Since the food is ready, you can just show up to order rather than having to call ahead or order online. Wow, I walked into Dodah's as a skeptic and walked out a proud convert. I have no idea how they make their food taste so good, but this is hands down the best vegan food I've ever tried. Everything we tried in the store was amazing - it was so hard to decide on what to get as our entrees. The worker was extremely friendly and kept giving us samples even after we stopped asking to try items. We ended up being the lasagna with the sweet kale salad and potato salad as well as the general tso's cauliflower with chickpeas and seafood mac. The general tso's cauliflower and seafood mac were amazing!! We couldn't get enough of the food. We're definitely going to become regulars here - it is that good!! read more

I was visiting another black owned store just a few doors down when I decided to walk in and check this place out. I'm really glad I did! It's much bigger on the inside then one would think. The food is precooked and out for you to see (buffet style but not self-serve) but protected by plexiglass (I'm assuming that's the material). I did overhear the customer in front of me ask for her chick'n drummies to be made fresh, which they did with no problem! There are a variety of sides and entrees to choose from. With so many options, it was a relief to know that they allow you to sample what you're thinking about buying. Note: While I took my time to decide what I wanted, a dope conversation ensued between myself, the person working at the cash register, and another customer. Of course, I had my mask on to practice safety measures. This didn't stop it from being a great conversation over samples of food! Needless to say, once we started chatting, it was evident that the person working was really nice. I opted to go with the veggie platter, which comes with 3 sides. I chose the sweet kale salad, mac n' cheese, and black beans and rice. But honey, let me tell you that the star of the show was the Cookies n' Cream cheesecake! It was so good that I'm willing (and planning) to return to this location just to get it again. I highly recommend it! We had our food delivered and we're missing a breakfast hoagie, peanut butter shake, utensils and syrup for out chikn waffles. We waited well over an hour, most of that time the driver waiting for the food, to be missing a whole sandwich for my son. My husband had to go out to grocery store for syrup (we're staying in a hotel with no syrup or utensils accessible). We paid well over $100 for this meal to be so disappointed. Literally nothing to eat the food with. They didn't call to say they were out of the breakfast sandwich or peanut butter shake. I used to love going here but the last time I went (approx. 2 hours before closing), they were out of a handful of items. I got the pepper steak and the yams. The pepper steak was so overly salted that I ate a few bites and threw the rest away. The yams were meh. They were fairly soupy but I could deal with them. The past couple of times my SO has been there around opening time, about half of the menu items weren't available/prepared yet. I understand if you're short staffed (looks like they're hiring due to signage on the door) but maybe temporarily modify your opening time if you're not going to have half the items on your menu ready. read more

Ever had a craving for something only to end up disappointment. This was my experience at Dodah this time around. Ordered food through the Yelp app for pickup. I selected General Tso's Cauliflower with Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens. When I arrived at 11:40am on a Wednesday, my order was ready. I left, got in the car only to find my sides included a mound of collard greens. I really came here because I wanted Mac and cheese. I go back inside and informed the lady at the front and I can tell she knew why I returned. I like collard green but I didn't want it as a double side. So glad I checked my order. I opted for garlic kale as a replacement. I get home and my General Tso cauliflower was awful. Now, I arrived at 11:40am, shortly after opening. Why isn't my food fresh??? There was also a French fry in my food so I knew it wasn't prepared fresh. I received crispy and soggy bits of batter and some pieces of cauliflower from God knows how many days old. I just picked through the mass of greens and ate a little kale before discarded this meal. I gave two stars because my experiences here have been good for the most part. And to come here for Mac and cheese they didn't have any, not happy. read more

If it's your first time here, parking is going to suck. It's on a one-way busy city street, so be aware of that. I guess I will be "that one" who breaks the 5 star streak :-( Food is as subjective as art, so I am giving MY personal opinion. ATMOSPHERE: The first thing I noticed was the inside of Dodah's is very clean. I also liked the Ejyptian wall murals. The young man who served me at the register was friendly. I was hungry and knew I wouldn't be returning often due to the distance from my home in the county. Due to this, I racked up so I would have food for the next 3 or so days. THE FOOD: Most of the dishes needed more flavor and were greasy. It's a soul food vegan spot, so the greasiness was understood. The portions were not big. I ordered the potato salad (way too much mustard; did not like); the tofu scramble (super delicious, but super greasy); seafood mac n cheese (good, but gave me a mayo-like flavor I didn't like; needed some seafood flavoring); collard greens (OK); the fried "fish" (processed and just OK, again, no seafood flavoring), fried "shrimp" (processed shrimp and also OK), pepper steak (was OK? had this weird aftertaste); General Tso's cauliflower (tasted just like Chinese take out); "crab cakes" (did not like them, same issue above.) My biggest complaint is their faux seafood products seriously lacked seafood flavor and the "fish", "shrimp" and "crab cakes" basically just tasted like breading. I picked up a few cakes and cheesecakes. They upset my stomach, I guess due to the powdered sugar ingredients. Their Colada moss drink was delicious. Additionally, besides hot sauce, they charge you additional for their "cream" sauces or whatever that was in those little cups. In closing, was it worth the $105 I spent? No. Will I return again? I stopped by as I was in town for a few days on a conference. I ate there everyday because I wanted to try all of their food. The servings each day left me with enough for lunch and dinner! This restaurant frequently forgets to include items in Uber eats deliveries such as drinks and whole orders. I don't know if it's an issue with functional illiteracy amongst the staff or what. But such egregious errors are unacceptable--to put it bluntly. While Uber eats reversed the charge on my card for the missed drinks, I have yet to have my money refunded for the missed sandwich. This business needs to do a better job at screening and hiring the people who work at your establishment, as their performance, or lack there of, is coloring the impression of your business in the minds of your clientele. The only down fall of this place is they don't make the food fresh! Food is best when it freshly comes straight from the back! I've had a few different items and my favorite has to be the taos cauliflower it taste similar to orange chicken so good! I would pair this with green beans & rice & beans . Kai has brought an exceptionally superior Vegan cuisine to our area and even with the Baltimore metro area's rise in Vegan restaurants Dodah's Kitchen is clearly one of the best, and absolutely should be the restaurant on everyone's "bucket" list. Meet Kai, talk with her and one will soon realize that Dodah's is a literal extension, an aspect of her being. So I've been buying their cakes from a local grocery store for years and was so excited to hear that they had a physical location in Baltimore. My husband went one day when he attended a funeral and brought back some drummies that were so tasty! When Friday hit we wanted to go back but headed out too late and they were closed so we tried another local vegan spot...always happy to support Black owned businesses. It was a bad experience and we will not be going back to that one. So finally we made it to Dodah's the next evening and I could not be more pleased. Service, cleanliness, food...every single thing about our visit was delightful and we felt such good energy! We asked for samples of the Tao Cauliflower and pepper steak and it was delicious. And though they were out of drummies it was fine because the fish and crab cake we ordered were so good! We also ordered several sides and cakes. The young man cooking also took our order to help his coworker who was servicing the folks before us. He was such a sweetheart! I'm not sure of his name but he is an excellent representative for the restaurant because his customer service was just wonderful and that is what will make me spread a good word in addition to how great the food is. And after our experience at the other vegan spot yesterday we just really appreciated the kindness and service. We live 30 minutes away but I already know we will be patronizing at least once a week on our "eat out" day. It was more than worth the drive. You will not be disappointed! read more

I called to let them know my rice was undone and the only response I got was ok. I tried to order from them again and I asked for no onions on my quesadilla and it came with huge cut onions . Went here twice during my short stay in Baltimore. Food is inexpensive and tastes great. The set up is essentially cafeteria-style so you can see all the food options and pick what you want. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a yummy and filling meal. read more
