    The Gabriel Pizza
    Michael S.

Really solid vegan food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice ambiance inside-modern with lots of well-kept plants.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking was easy on street nearby on an early Monday evening. Server was very friendly but made A LOT of personal recommendations, like 3-5 items per category, and hilariously none of which were items we intended on ordering, but we felt bad ignoring all of them so we opted for the ravioli as a starter and of course it was by far the worst part of the meal. Was not a fan of the sauce on top, it was just four two-bite size ravioli and the ravioli themselves were rather tough. Also didn't take a picture because it didn't look all that nice. At least this item was 20% off for happy hour because $15 for that is a travesty. Sorry. Fortunately, all uphill from there! The blackened Alfredo with blacked chicken was excellent. Pretty sure the chicken is not made from scratch and it's not the best but the sauce is delicious and makes up for it. Plus it's a nice texture to have in the dish. We got the Gabriel pizza which was super spicy and super good. Once again at $25 these prices feel a little crazy, but honestly for 3 modest sized dishes being split between 2 people we left fully sated. Finally for dessert I went for an iced strawberry matcha instead of a dessert dessert... it was good for being vegan. I know I know the dreaded caveat you don't want to hear about a vegan restaurant. But 'tis what 'tis! Despite a few minor criticisms the meal was enjoyable and I fully intend on coming back. While veg options are plentiful in Baltimore, full-on veg restaurants aren't and I love to support it when I can and this one is definitely worth supporting.

Buffalo "chicken" pizza and buffy pizza (half and half) on gluten free crust
    Anna S.

Finally got to stop by Oleum for dinner! If you don't already know, everything here is plant-based and there's plenty of gluten free options. We ordered the "shrimp" scampi, half kale caesar salad, half buffalo chicken and half buffy pizza on GF crust, and the blackened "chicken" alfredo pasta made GF. The shrimp scampi was an impulse order and wasn't my favorite. If you're vegan or veg and haven't had shrimp in a while, it'll probably blow your mind but as a meat eater, I wasn't a fan. The server wasn't able to tell us exactly what the shrimp was made of only that it was plant-based so I do wonder if it was truly made GF. If you have celiac or a severe intolerance, you should probably ask more questions than we did haha The kale caesar was my favorite bite of the whole night. The dressing was creamy and tangy and I loved the shaved vegan parmesan cheese on top. The buffalo chicken pizza was pretty good with a nice kick but didn't have the traditional "buffalo" flavor I'm used to so I assume they make their buffalo sauce in house. The buffy pizza was described as SUPER garlicky in the description but neither me or my friends tasted any garlic. The vegan cheese was melty and gooey though which was nice. The pasta was yummy with a creamy and spicy sauce. I would've loved to see some shaved parmesan on top and some fresh parsley to round out the spice though. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, the vibe here is great and the all vegan menu is very impressive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you have a group with multiple dietary restrictions, this is the place to go for sure. Service at the bar was friendly and quick too!

Great place for a Vegan meal and yes they recommend a reservation as it is really busy . We ordered the mushroom pasta , the Salmon with pasta , steak dinner and their famous ice cream bread pudding desert . All very delicious. Oleum is one of Baltimore's , fully plant-based restaurants, serving creative, internationally inspired vegan cuisine. Located in the historic Fells Point neighborhood (with previous operations near the Inner Harbor), the independent, locally owned eatery is famous for scratch-made dishes that appeal to both vegans and meat-eaters alike Location & HoursAddress: 701 S. Bond St, Baltimore, MD 21231 (Fells Point)[[HIGHLIGHT]]Vibe: An intimate, rustic dining space with a bar, exposed brick, and cozy sidewalk seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Open for lunch, dinner, and a popular weekend brunch. Operating hours can vary, so check Oleum Vegan Kitchen for the current schedule. The MenuCreated by chef-owner Alisha Adibe, the menu avoids highly processed meat substitutes in favor of fresh, global flavors and scratch-made vegan cheeses and meats. Popular highlights include:Miso Mushroom Bucatini: A fan-favorite pasta fusing Mediterranean flavors with inspiration from the chef's time living in Japan.Artisanal Pizzas: House-made dough topped with ingredients like harissa-marinated mushrooms, tahini, and hummus.Brunch: Highlights include their "strawberries and cream" or cinnamon pancakes, as well as hearty breakfast burritos.Desserts: The tofu-based tiramisu and carrot cake are highly rated . While walk-ins are welcome at the bar, the main dining room is highly sought-after so make a reservation . The menu is 100% dairy-free and meat-free, with various gluten-free options available.

Pretty impressive that all the food is vegan! The pasta dishes are great, as is the kale caesar salad. Enjoyed the miso mushroom bucatini. The chicken mimic was not my favorite, but the beef mimic in their lasagne was quite close. Excellent, friendly service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor and some outdoor seating available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would recommend getting a reservation ahead of time.

Oleum got the right idea and executes it well. Came to take a vegetarian friend out and she loved everything she ate. The menu is not tired and you can tell the team put a lot of thought into these dishes. We started with the spicy potatoes and ravioli. Then we both had pizzas, I had the pepperoni which came overloaded with super fresh ingredients and that beautiful crust. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance and service was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely coming back soon!

i am an enjoyer of vegan food but i do eat meat. my parents were visiting and we were searching for a brunch spot that wasn't hectic and ran into oleum. i had been meaning to try their brunch for a while as i'm a sucker for specialty pancakes. we didn't have a reservation, but were seated immediately (they had just opened for the day). my parents both got golden lattes with oat milk and they both really enjoyed it. they don't use heat lamps here, so the food will come out when it's ready. we got shishito peppers to share. the blister was nice, although i felt they were a little under salted. i got the biscoff pancakes which came with biscoff whipped cream. they tasted like they were cooked in butter (although obv not) and were exceptionally tasty! i had plenty of leftovers too. i tried my parents' big biscuit with gravy, eggs, sausage etc. which was super flavorful. my dad was against coming here because he doesn't usually like vegan food, but he loved his food here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]the inside is very cute, although the music is a little loud and almost club-like which is not conducive to the curated vibe of the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] the only real criticism i have here is that the menu labels everything as "plant-based". if you don't know this is a vegan restaurant in advance and you see the words "plant-based" on the menu, it's hard to determine if it's a vegan or vegetarian menu. also they didn't give my mom the gluten free wrap that she requested, but she isn't celiac so it isn't a huge deal. i will definitely come again for more specialty pancakes!

    Batata Harra

Oleum can best be described as vegan, chef inspired, fine dining. I was absolutely floored by how good everything was. To start with, the menu is very creative. You aren't going to find black bean burgers and cauliflower wings here (not that there is anything wrong with those). Instead, you will find small plates like Cannellini and Pan (bread with white beans) and Batata Harra (spicy Lebanese potatoes). Soups like Roasted Pumpkin. Mains like Steak, roasted veggies and Polenta in gravy. Pizzas like Meat Lovers with vegan bacon, pepperoni, sausage and spicy Italian sausage. There is plenty more dishes I just named the ones we ended up ordering. My wife started with a mocktail that included coconut and was meant to taste like a Creamsicle popsicle. Incredibly, it did. I was intrigued by a number of lattes but considering it was night and I had already reached my coffee quota for the day, I abstained. After that, we ordered and received our small plates and soup. The Cannellini and Pan was incredible. I don't know how to describe the bread. It looked like pita but it didn't taste or feel like any pita I've had before. The beans were flavorful, with a hint of spice. Speaking of spice, the Batata Harra was very spicy. Good, but definitely not for someone who can't handle spice. The soup was good but didn't really blow me away like everything else. Next came our mains, Steak and Polenta and the Meat Lovers Pizza. A lot of the pizza meats and cheeses are made in house at Oleum giving this pizza a unique taste all to itself. The crust was great, the meats were good with a hint of spiciness and the cheese was not too much and flowed with the rest of the pizza. The steak was a locally made vegan steak that cut and looked like real steak (I didn't quite have the same texture as I remember actual steak). Paired with polenta, mushrooms and Brussels and topped with gravy, this dish was incredible. To end it all, I took a carrot cake to go. Also excellent. The wait staff was incredible. Two different servers and the owner stopped at our table to check on us. Oleum is not cheap. This meal, with tip, was close to $150 dollars. But the quality and taste (and amount of leftovers) made the price more palatable. Will definitely be back!

The customer service here was a 5/5. The staff was extremely friendly. Parking was a little tight but there was street parking available. The cinnamon rolls and biscoff pancakes and were really good. The biscuit dish and fried ravioli dish tasted really oily. The oil was the other flavors and the dish les didn't balance out well. We also tried the wake and steak pizza and the meat substitute in this and in the biscuit was very mushy and tasted processed. I was disappointed in the food and I'm not sure I'd give it another try. I will say that the dishes without the meat substitutes were very good.

Can't believe everything here was 100% plant based. Perfectly replicated the flavors as if it wasn't and I was not lacking for anything. The gnocchi starter was a great shareable. Great flavor, had some charred flavor to it. Definitely recommended for someone that's not very hungry or saving room for the dessert. The fettuccine Alfredo topped with grilled impossible steak is not too be missed. Half order was enough for me and wow. This is the dish that pushed it up to 5 stars. There it's an extra charge of 6$ for the steak on top but imo worth it. The tiramisu is definitely a shareable size and vegan. I've put in the effort to make vegan tiramisu. I would grab this to go. Service was excellent. Ana chatted with my daughter and was very fast. My daughter liked the feel of the place and even complimented the bathroom. It was "fancy". Add this to the list of must go to vegetarian spots in Baltimore near fells point.

I came here on a Thursday night for a date night . I was impressed . [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is cozy , intimate and a vibe . The ambiance is very cute perfect a good date night if you enjoy plant based food that's taste great .[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service staff a 10/10 Ali I want to say her name was phenomenal. Needs a raise and the new employee was shadowing her . We ordered the Lasagna, kale ceaser with protein steak , stuffed dates every thing was 10/10 . Stuffed dates I have never had anything like it before . We got sticky toffee bread pudding . It was delicious . Overall the perfect place for a cute date night to enjoy vegan meals . I would go back for their brunch.

I'm so glad I finally got to try Oleum. This is really a 3.5 but rounding up as there is a lack of vegan restaurants in the city! And I love a vegetable forward menu. had wanted to try this place when it was in the inner harbor, but it's finally found a home in the former bond house location in fells point. The branding really bothers me - when they were first putting up the signs, I thought it was a plant store and then realized it was the vegan restaurant. I'm also kind of confused at the restaurant story because it says it started in Japan, but the menu is very American if not very American Italian. We sat at the bar and the staff were really nice because I did not want to drink and they were still very attentive. Not a lot has changed in interior from the previous restaurant. I will say it looks a little more elevated as bond house was more casual. That said this is Baltimore some people dress up, but this is definitely a casual spot. There are only two bathrooms that are single stall, so I remember having to wait a little bit when it was quite busy when we walked in. My favorite bite was the soup! They messed up our order but it was a nice surprise. We ordered the rocket soup, but we ended up getting the bean soup but either way it was really delicious and it was nice that they were able to split the soup so we could share it. The pasta was just meh and the dolmas were average. The kale Caesar was really dry. I would for sure come back for that soup the way that it created such depth with having a veggie base and the Aleppo pepper just makes me salivate as I'm thinking about this menu.

Pre order was easy, I did it all via my phone a couple of weeks in advance. Pickup was also super easy, I found parking right on the street, went in, and had my food all in my hands in less than ten minutes. The slider tray consisted of 10 Sliders. There were two each of Meatball Parm, French Onion Melt, Cheeseburger Cheesesteak, BBQ Jackfruit and Oyster Chick'n. All of them were well done, held up in transit and tasted good as leftovers. That being said, the BBQ Jackfruit were my favorite. If you ever have the chance to get your hands on her BBQ Jackfruit, definitely do it! The sliders came with three sides: a container of Bourbon Baked Beans, Traditional Mac Salad and Chips and Chili Queso These were also well done. Price wise, My Mamas Vegan seemed comparable to other vegan places in the area. I think the slider tray cost about 40 dollars and I, eating everything myself, had leftovers for days. I can't speak on the customer service because I didn't talk to anyone. I ordered at the kiosk and they called my number and that was it. I paid $19.45 for my meal. I order a side of falafels (3) and the street bowl with beef flank, tzatziki, and mild red pepper sauce. The falafels were way too crispy. I feel like compared to other falafels I've tried these were on the hard side. Thankfully I had some tzatziki sauce to dip them in, if I didn't, they would have been a little hard to eat. The flavor was okay but the texture was not appealing. I really wanted to get beef shawarma but they were out so I opted for the beef flank. I wish I would have just gotten chicken instead. The bowl came with rice and a lettuce salad that was underneath the beef. I'm not sure if the lettuce had arugula in it as well, but the lettuce gave sort of a bitter taste which I did not care for at all. Did not taste good so I would add a lot of tzatziki sauce to it to cut down on the bitter taste. The beef was okay, nothing to rave about. I was just very underwhelmed with my food. Not sure if I would give it a try again. If so, I would definitely get something else or build my own bowl maybe. Try it for yourself and see how you like it.

Slutty Vegan Baltimore, It's Worth the Hype!!…read more Took a trip to the Black Owned Slutty Vegan Baltimore for my Big Sis's birthday, she's been dying to try it and finally got to see what all the buzz is about! The location is everything! Right in downtown Baltimore's up and coming Peninsula area, directly across from the Sagamore Rye Distillery. It's a fresh, developing spot that's definitely on the rise. The exterior is sleek and minimal, but once you step inside, boom!!! It's loud, lively, and unapologetically bold. Think vibrant colors, massive wall graphics, and a staff that greets you with energy and personality. They literally call you out as you walk in and it's hilarious and welcoming. Special shoutout to Zaneka (hope I'm spelling that right!) she was amazing. Patient, fun, and super helpful with all our first-timer questions. We were the first ones at the door when they opened, so we had the place to ourselves for a bit! We wanted to try EVERYTHING, but settled on: - The infamous One Night Stand - The Slutty Chicken Caesar Wrap - Both with Slutty Fries - And of course, the Oreo Cookie Milkshake to top it off Everything was flavorful and fun, definitely a unique twist on plant-based comfort food. My only drawback on my One Night Stand was that the Baltimore locations menu indicates that they add in chili on the burger which is not indicated on the online versions of the menu. I'm not a spicy food eater and I THINK that's what put the spice in this burger, I'll have it removed when I come back, but overall everything was pretty good. We ate in so our fries were hot and extra crispy. The milkshake was on point as well. I tried the pomegranate slutty ORGANIC lemonade on the go out and I have no regrets, very robust in flavor and really good. I am definitely a fan. Will be back to try other items on the menu. The quality of food for $20 per item is frankly outrageous. I want vegan restaurants to succeed but this isn't going to be the way to do it and there is 0 chance we'll be returning.

Adorable and quirky cafe that is 100% worth all the hype, the long waits, and the hard-to-snag…read morereservations. I visited Golden West Cafe on a Sunday afternoon with a moderately large group (7 people). We were originally hoping for a brunch reservation but could only snag a 3 PM slot -- a testament to how incredibly popular they are -- although we ended up being ready at 2 PM and called ahead to ask if they could seat us earlier. They, very graciously, were able to make space for us to come a tad earlier. The food was absolutely incredible -- it was some combination of American comfort and Mexican / Latin American, with classic Mexican items like huevos ranchos, fish tacos, and enchiladas right next to traditional American brunch selections like chicken and waffles, hot cakes, and so forth. Their menu is also remarkably vegetarian / vegan-friendly, and it features their own house-made vegan chicken! We decided to split a few items, including the zucchini brie hot cakes, fish tacos, and vegan hot honey chicken and waffles. All three were outstanding, but my favorite had to be the zucchini brie hot cakes. The cakes were remarkably soft and fluffy, and I loved the bit of sweetness from the zucchini (and maple syrup, of course), and the extra hit of rich creaminess and savoriness from the brie. It was the perfect sweet and savory combo, and it was easily one of the biggest surprises of the meal. The rest of the items were also delicious, although not quite as wowing. The fish tacos were well-fried and flavorful, and I was quite impressed by how crispy and thin their accompanying fries were. I really enjoyed the flavor of the hot honey vegan chicken and waffles, but I was, admittedly, a little bit thrown off by the texture of both. It's very possible that the waffle had just gotten a bit soggy because I ate this dish last and it wasn't quite at its peak freshness. Either way, I really enjoyed my time here, and it's 100% worth I try. I can't wait to make my way back to Hampden to sample the rest of their menu!

Golden West Cafe…read more First visit to Hampden and Golden West Cafe -- and it definitely lived up to the hype. Drinks: Baltimore Vice -- strawberry-forward with a Don Q rum float, coconut foam, and freeze-dried strawberries. Light, refreshing, and very easy to drink. Piñata Riot -- a tequila twist on a jungle bird. Slightly bitter, tropical, and well-balanced. Both cocktails were solid and worth ordering again. Food: Green Chili Burger -- while it didn't quite hit true Albuquerque green chile standards, it was still flavorful and satisfying. A strong menu option. Zucchini Brie Pancake -- the standout dish. Unexpectedly balanced between sweet and savory, rich without being too heavy, and something I'd absolutely reorder. Overall: Great first impression. The menu has a lot of variety, the cocktails are creative and well-executed, and it feels like one of those places you could keep coming back to and try something new every time. Would I go back? Absolutely.
