Doebs pizzeria has blown my socks off. I am a lover of Detroit style pizza but being from California doesn't make it easy to find great options. Doebs has become my favorite slice of pizza I've ever had. The lunch combo is amazing value and hits the spot perfectly. The slice itself is airy and crisp. Very nice cheese pull from the first bite and not excessively oily. Perfectly topped with marinara more sauce that brings a beautiful balance to such a simple dish. The service here is 10/10. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the staff members and made to feel as if I was a regular. They explained the specials clearly and friendly and enticed me to get the lunch special which is well worth it. The vibe in the restaurant is similar to being in your own living room surrounded by friends and family. I ate by myself but I didn't feel alone in the restaurant. Everyone was talking and having a good time the music in the background was nice and you can hear genuine laughs coming from the kitchen. It's always nice to see happy staff members making delicious food. I don't know if I'll ever get the chance to return to Michigan but if I do this is a must hit spot. Thank you Doebs for ruining square slices for me, I doubt I'll find anything else to compete in my near future. read more

I got an "Angry Italian" Detroit Style pizza and it was fantastic. The bottom was a little on the greasy side because of all the meat, but the taste was great! The crust reminded me of those crunchy Asiago cheese crusts and packed a great flavor AND crunch. Their ranch was blah (tasted like oil instead of actual buttermilk), but I didn't really need it because the pizza was so good, so I'll give that a pass instead of downgrading to 4 stars for dip. I really want to try to hand tossed next time, loaded up with pepperoni to see if it looks like those super crunchy styles I see on Insta. Next time for sure... or maybe I'll just get the Angry Little Crybaby Italian again. The guys at the counter were very nice. read more

We have ordered Detroit-style pizza, the Doeb Salad, and the cheesy garlic bread from here several times. Everything tastes housemade including the marinara dipping sauce for the garlic bread. The salad has green olives and chunks of bacon. We have gotten several pizzas and they all have been good. We have always ordered for pickup and my order is always ready on time. Finally was able to stop by Doebs after hearing many raves from family and friends. When you walk in you're greeted with friendly smiles. The restaurant does have limited seating options but there is a very cozy bar by the window where you can people watch while you wait for your pie. There is a great menu selection of apps, salads, sandwiches, pastas and specialty pizzas and you are able to choose between three different types of crust. I went with 2 hand tossed pizzas tonight. A classic pepperoni and the alleycat which comes with a bbq base and is topped nicely with grilled chicken and both green/red onion. I don't live in the area and travelled home 30 minutes before I was able to try a slice. Once home, my fiancé and I sampled the pizzas and were pleased with how it traveled and how the crust was tasty and just overall delicious. He's not a huge onion guy and likes how the onions were topped on the alleycat describing it as the right amount and he would eat onions like that on a pizza any day. All in all we will definitely be back to sample more. And if you're not from Holland and are in the area it's a must try! This pizza is the best in town and I always get the artisan thin crust. My girlfriend ordered a pizza with green peppers and I don't even like green peppers and I still liked it the pizza is so good. Lunchtime pizza it's not as good as the dinner pizza but that's probably a different cook. The times I've gone for lunch with Ben better if they cooked it just a tad longer like they do at dinner time. It was so good I finished the one and ordered another one. Ordered the Hand-tossed Hawaiian. Crust was too thin in the middle, too thick at the edges. Bacon was chunky large pieces, unevenly cooked, with some being hard and others being big cubes of unrendered fat. Ham cubes were good, although uneven in size, with a few being too large to eat in a single bite. Similarly with the pineapple--good quality, good tasting, but very uneven in size, with some simply too large to eat in a single bite of pizza. Sauce was okay, but unevenly spread. Cheese was hardly noticeable; more sauce and more cheese would have helped to balance the taste as a whole, which was severely overpowered by the almost harsh dominance of the bacon. Chose to get this pizza because of other reviews, but did not like the overall taste or balance, and would not go back for another pizza. read more

We tried ordering before but they have been so busy that they were taking pre-orders. Finally we could order the same day and have pizza ready in 40 minutes. I got the Chi artisan with mushrooms and an order of the hot jumbo wings. The crust is fantastic. The homemade sausage is pretty tasty as well. I could use more sauce though. Chicago pizza experience is evident here and the results are delicious. The "Detroit " or Sicilian pizza is terrific, cooked perfectly with a golden caramelized crust. We ordered several hand-tossed pizzas on a Friday night: one with veggies, one with just cheese, and one of their specialty pizzas, the AlleyCat. When we picked up the pizzas, the staff was outstanding--very personable and friendly. The place was clean, and it was clear they make their pizzas from scratch. The pizzas were excellent; the hand-tossed crust tasted like a Neapolitan pizza crust, soft and airy on the inside yet crisp on the outside. A neighbor recommended Doebs to us and suggested we try the hand tossed crust - we did just that and it was cooked to crispy crunchy perfection. Doebs pizza is delicious! My husband was driving home from Travers City to Chicago and stopped there on his way home. The owner was there and recommended putting the sauce on the side so it wouldn't get soggy on the way home. Genius! We heated it up at 400 degrees for 10 minutes when he got home and the crust was perfectly crispy. The sausage had just a touch of spice and the sauce was super flavorful. There was a nice caramelization on the top of the crust and they don't skimp on the toppings. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area. read more
