Blame it on Covid! I was surprised to see that I had previously written four reviews for the Dog Haus seven years ago, each one with 4*, and yet I hadn't been back since. It being July 4th, Independence Day, I thought it would be an appropriate day to enjoy a hot dog. Just ask Joey Chestnut! I'm not going to reduce my # of *s because we really enjoyed our food and beverages. But I do have to question what I had to drink. The board said it was an Ommegang Grande Tripel stout at 5.5 ABV ($9). That level of ABV would be reasonable for a stout, but the color of the brew was golden like a typical Tripel, and not dark like the typical Stout. The bartender gave us a sample, and it was full of flavor with my wife noticing the vanilla tones that were described by the bartender. I didn't initially identify any specific flavor other than delicious and different than I would have expected from a stout. I also would not take issue with the posted 5.5 ABV. HOWEVER, a quick reference to Ommegang online as I write this says that it is a Belgium Tripel and the ABV is 9. Yes, NINE ABV! I would definitely have noticed if I were drinking a 9 ABV on an empty stomach. I also would have noticed it driving the car after finishing a pint within one hour. For those familiar with Utah Phillips, "It was good though!" But on to the food. We ordered a shareable Tot-Chos ($12.99) consisting of tater tots, tomatoes, avocado, cheese sauce, pickled jalapeños, and chipotle aioli. These were very tasty and not too spicy, with crispy on the outside and soft on the inside tots. My wife ordered the Sooo Cali ($10.99) hot dog. The black angus beef hot dog is very tasty even before it is topped with wild arugula, tomato, avocado, crispy onion strings, and spicy basil aioli. The combined flavors work well together on the Kings Hawaiian rolls. My choice was to try the Hogfather ($10.99) - a pork bratwurst with bacon chipotle onion jam, chipotle aioli, and miso ranch. The bratwurst was delicious and again, the flavors worked well together. BTW, my wife had a Grimm Nothing But Citra ($8), an IPA that even I found acceptable. We really need to return here more frequently. read more

My team and I called ahead to confirm the restaurant would be able to seat a table of 12, when we arrived there were maybe only 3-4 other patrons there. You would have thought it was every employee's first day. The cashier had an AirPod in the whole time, we had to repeat our orders at least 3-4 times, and then when they arrived, our food was grouped together on trays, and the busser had no idea what was even on the plates. The food was subpar, the chicken nuggets were as hard as rocks. It was honestly comedic and we had a fun time as a group, but when I'm next in town for business I'll make sure to not return. Just came back from eating there and I am incredibly disappointed. We used to go once a month for a fun quick meal out and always enjoyed it. Today? Not so much. We each ordered what we always got and they changed the ingredients without calling attention to the new menu. Fries are expensive for the small serving and the soda serving is small ( yes it is free refills) but expensive. We ordered chicken tenders and tots for our son. Tots were great, tenders were decent but could use a bit of flavor in the breading. My wife and I boy got the chicken sandwich. The menu refers to it as Nashville style which it didn't have that distinct Nashville feel. The sandwich was spicy, juicy, and quite delicious. The serve it on what appears to be four slider rolls. Great flavor and dressed well. A lot of chicken too. I'd come back for that sandwich alone. Decent beer menu with varied offerings. Fooseball is free and a great bonus for our 9 year old. The food was good, I had the corn dog that had a root beer batter. Very greasy though if you are the type with hall bladder issues. My husband got a wiener and my son in law got one of the burgers. They come on toasted Hawaiian buns. My grand daughter and grandson got a hot dog and chicken finger kids meal. You order at the counter and they call your number when it's ready. Food is great. Service is great. So why a 3 star. Management needs to have parents control their children. My wife and I have been to this restaurant on 2 separate occasions. Both times must have been after an event on a Sunday but these parents let their kids run amuck yelling and screaming. We have two adult kids of our own and we never let our kid's behavior infringe upon other paying couples moment in a restaurant. I understand kids will act up from time to time. But when you are in a restaurant that has a bar and a group of parents are drinking and letting their kids disrupt others, that's just wrong. This one is going to be short and simple. On way down from lake George and hit up this place for a snack. Got the one hot dog with jalapeño and that Spanish cheese as well as a sausage with house slaw mustard and some other goodies. Everything was delicious! Drooling writing this. The plant based options seems amazing so I came here with my veggie friend and another friend for our usual weekly food and beer outing. We got the BLT loaded tots, bacon on the side, and they were good, but not as good as the sweet potato fries! My dining partners raved about their meals. It was grand opening. Yes the lines were long but they did an awesome job getting us all ready to order by uploading their app to get points for discounts and gave us the menus to speed the process of ordering up. As we got in there, I was surprised to see a awesome beer menu and large bar which I decided to enjoy on another trip. There were many beer choices on the menu and some seemed to be local. We ordered and found a seat. They gave us a table number stand so they could deliver our food to our table, that didn't take all that long maybe 15 minutes. I had an Old Town dog with smoked bacon wrapped around the hot dog, carmelized onions, chipotle aioli, picked jalapenos and cotija cheese. It was a very good hot dog by itself and the toppings were eventually distributed but the bacon for me wasn't cooked enough. It wasn't hot but had great flavor. My son had the Downtown and that was the wrapped bacon, carmelized onion,pickled peppers, with mayo, mustard and ketchup. He said it was good. Then together we had tried the onion rings, with real onions inside and didn't pull out with each bite. Very well done. We also had the love boat with the tot option. The toys were topped with haus chili and haus slaw. It wasn't bad maybe a little more chili would have been nice. The slaw and flavorings of the chili were delicious. It's not near where I live but if in the area I would definitely make it a destination. I also have a friend who lives there who would like to go with me. Husband is still thanking me for suggesting this new place. No lines to get in at 4:30 on a Monday afternoon. I enjoyed the plant based Sooo Veggie which is a "Beyond Sausage Hot Italian" with Arugula, Avocado, Tomato, and Spicy Basil Aioli. It came with Crispy Onions which I scraped aside because I dislike them. I liked the Sooo Veggie so much I will order it again, but minus the tasteless annoying crispy onions. Also had the Das Brat (caramelized onions, sauerkraut, and spicy mustard) and a Chili Idol Dog (chili, cheddar, and onions). All meat is hormone and antibiotic free! All served on Hawaiian Rolls. The only side we tried was the Cole Slaw which was vinegar based and tasty. The Jack Abbey lager drafts paired well with the food we ordered. There are over 25 draft beers. The bartender provided samples and was knowledgeable. The atmosphere is casual, and the seating inside was accommodating. There was a nice outside patio. Lots of paper napkins available at the tables. Orders ataken efficiently at the counter and delivered to the table by a server. A hot dog is like a pop idol. Hot dogs are cute. It's a pop image, everyone knows what a hot dog is. That being said, Dog Haus Biergarten delivered with good dogs and burgers. To disclose, I ordered the hangover burger, cheese tots, and a hot dog with spicy mustard and chili. To get underway, the hangover burger was splendid. The meat had a lot of flavor and the bun was excellent. The bun was potato style and I loved the taste. My only issue with the burger was that the fried egg on it, was a bit too runny. Succeeding, the hot dog was all-around solid. To elaborate, the hot dog was very big and the dog itself had great sapidity. Also, I loved the bun and it helped bring it all together. However, I was not a big fan of the chili. The chili tasted like it was out of can and I will definitely skip the chili next time. Alternatively, the cheese tots were phenomenal. The tots were crispy, fresh, and savory. Finally, I think the price of the burger was fair, but the hot dog was over $6 which is ridiculous for one dog.
