Dog Haus - a great place for a refreshing beer and a delicious hot dog or slider or burger and of course a side of fries. We enjoy coming here as a couple, or we bring our friends to relax and chat. There are also screens set up if you want to watch the game. COVID adjustments and environment: (June 2021) Currently outdoor dining is available, and the set up is great. Tables are separated under a covered "deck" area, and also set up in the walkway if you want some more sun or air. There are string lights set up too, so it looks very inviting with the benches and tables available. Walk in, then around right up to the bar area to order your food and drinks; you get a number that you can bring to your table if you are dining on the premises. Food and drink: Always satisfying and indulgent. This is where you go when you want to satisfy a craving! The hot dogs and burgers are all served on King's Hawaiian buns, which are soft and fluffy and lightly sweet. The tater tots (loaded if you're very hungry!) are always crispy and great to share. For hot dogs, we love the bacon-wrapped choices: my usual is the OLD TOWN as I love pickled jalapenos. If you've got more a taste for sweet bbq sauce like my partner, COWBOY has that for you, otherwise DOWNTOWN is your classic bet. For burgers, we've got four of those King's Hawaiian buns, split and sandwiching your choice of filling. I love the HOLY AIOLI (bacon and caramelized onions finished with garlic aioli), as I think it's the perfect savory foil to the sweet and light buns. If you like huge crispy onion rings slathered in BBQ sauce, THE RINGER is your bet. For drinks, there is a literal wall filled with the beers on tap that day next to the cashier for you to peruse! The style, ABV, name, are all summarized there for you. We like a strong IPA lately but there are many hazy IPAs, pilsners, ales, sours, ciders, and more for you to choose from. Getting there / Parking: A wonderful spot in Pasadena where it's not too crowded, so you've got a good chance finding parking on the street or, in a nearby garage; the Schoolhouse Garage at 33 E Green St has the first 90 minutes free and is only a block and a half away. Final thoughts: A great Pasadena establishment, easy to unwind and relax with friends or without, awesome selection of drinks to go with your dog or burger, and of course the friendly staff. I went in for a bite to eat a little after lunch time there was hardly anyone there on a Saturday when old town is very busy. Employee seemed like he was just there, didn't upsell. Came here for a running event so it was super crowded and busy! Casual vibes, where you order at the counter and find your own seat (only one cash register, so it can be very slow on a busy day). You have the choice of sitting inside or outside. Can be noisy and crowded but it fits the ambiance. Food was good and had lots of flavor; portion size is decent for a reasonable price. Love coming to this place as it's a great spot to start your night in Old Town. My go-to is the Das Brat but the seasonal ones also work really well. They have an impressive tap list for a place known primarily for their dogs. They have a ton of TVs all around if you're trying to watch the game as well. As for the spot itself it rolls out into a little alley so you're off the street. The outdoor seating has tons of shade and this place is super pet friendly. Frankly it's pretty friendly to everyone as they put on a lot of local events and work with groups in the area. I know they had (maybe still do) an astronomy night on the first Monday of the Month with Caltech. They also partner with adult league teams, some pet groups and some running clubs. The only knock I'd say is for how big the place is they probably need more bathrooms. read more

Totally remodeled interior, awesome full bar set up and more TVs to catch the game. The patio area is dog friendly and they will even hook you up your little one with some H2O. I prefer the patio area, where you have two large TVs and plenty of seating. A nice spot to get a bite, enjoy one of their Liter of beers and catch your fav sporting event. In addition to celebrating Global Running Day each year at Dog Haus, I've attended a couple running events/celebrations here and I love it. I've been to two other locations. Pasadena is my fave! This past Tuesday we were out promoting @NewYearsRace with @DogHausRunningClub. It was my first time here since the remodel. I really like the improvements they made to the inside. The layout is more open and flows better. The service is always on point. More importantly, any place that has a great beer selection and tots on the menu is winning in my book. The "Sooo Cali" hot dog is this crazy good concoction of arugula, avocado, crispy onions, tomatoes, and spicy basil aioli sauce served on a King's Hawaiian roll with a "hormone and antibiotic-free dog." Pair it with a beer or even some strawberry hibiscus juice (they also had pineapple lemonade which was better in my opinion) and it's a match made in heaven. My appetite wasn't that large that day, but you might want to share some tater tots or fries with a friend as their dogs come in hefty portions. Lovely service. Nice location just a brisk walk away from the Convention Center. Not a whole lot of indoor seating where it's nice and cool especially if you have kids. Clean gender neutral restroom. I visited Dog Haus on a hectic Saturday between Rose Parade and Rose Bowl. For the most part, they handled the crowd well. The food came out fast and fresh. The highlight of the meal was the Holy Aioli burger, days later I'm still thinking about it. The Hawaiian buns taste great, but the perforations make for a messy eating experience. We didn't find ketchup for our fries, which were well crisped but over salted. Seating was tough: we wound up at a small table with no bench on one side. The chairs had been taken elsewhere by other parties which was annoying, I'd like to see staff ensuring that tables are all usable. Finally, be warned, there is only one all-gender bathroom for everyone, so the line is long and slow. TLDR: the holy aioli burger is memorably delish but you may have no place to sit and a long wait for the restroom read more

My friend and I worked up our hunger walking the Rose Bowl flea market so we decided on eating at the Dog Haus in Old Town. We walked in about 1:30 pm and bellied up to the bar. The bartender asked us what we wanted to drink and we both ordered an IPA. Looking over the menu we both ordered breakfast burritos. My friend stopped eating meat about 10 years ago. I ordered the Fonz (3 sunny side up egges, Italian sausage, pastrami, tater tots, white American cheese & spicy mayo) and my friend ordered the Impossible Haus (3 sunny side up eggs, Impossible sausage, tater tots, white American cheese, carmalized onions & spicy mayo). My friends wife and two other friends arrived just when our order was brought out to us . Our burritos were wrapped in paper and labeled. I grabbed my Fonz, pulled back the paper and proceeded to devour the burrito. It was delicious and about the time I was halfway done my friend said "Hey you're eating my burrito" Sure enough there was pastrami in the burrito my non meating eating friend was holding. Our server told us that they would remake the burritos since they mixed up the order. I tell you this was the best mix up I have ever eaten. The Impossible Haus was absolutely delicious. The sausage really tasted like meat and the tots were very crispy and crunchy. I would gladly order this on my next visit. When our correct burrito order came out I ate my whole Fonz and it was also delicious. The pastrami, cheese, crispy tater tots were every bit a treat in itself. I ordered the Soooo Cali hot dog which was good but didn't have that much of umami flavor. I like how they added arugula and avocado as well as some tomatoes but what I didn't particularly enjoy about it was the sausage. The sausage was kind of salty and the texture seemed like it wasn't cooked. However my brother in law ordered a hangover burger and that was so good. Highly recommend ordering the hangover burger if you like chili and sunny side up eggs. I like how there is a outdoor seating area where you can eat your food and enjoy the nice California weather. The dog haus in old town is my favorite Pasadena doghouse. Coming with a group...there is lots of outdoor seating for groups of up to 12 maybe a big table. Burgers are always made perfectly to the doghaus style which means served on a Hawaiian bun with lots of sauce or extras like fried eggs, chili, roasted peppers, etc. If tater tots are your thing I have heard they are delicious. I'm not really a tater tot person. I always go for the fries or onion rings, which are both quite good. Service here in my opinion is better than the Dog Hauson hill. Your order at the bar, grab your beers, take a number and they bring out the food. Dog Haus does typically have a special for cheeseburger week. It's not always advertised you have to ask. Maybe if I ate here, I would have enjoyed it. But I ordered a huge sampling of their food and had it delivered, and the food just did not wow me for the price. It all felt like it was trying too hard, the sauces were kinda icky, the food itself seemed to be more of a instagram thing, it looks good but the taste, for the price is just not a big deal. Again, maybe if I had it there, it might have been a bit better, but if I wanted a burger or dog, there are a lot better places for my taste buds. I'm not the biggest fan of hotdogs. However, my daughter loves them, so off we went for lunch. The menu is large considering - and varied. I can see this being a great place for college students. I can also see this being a terrific place to get take out prior to a game, even if you're just watching from home. I found the hotdogs to be large and very juicy, with a nice proportion of meat to bun. I also found the meat to be quite oily. But let's face it, this is not health food and fat is flavor. My history at this particular Dog Haus runs pretty deep. I have literally been coming here since it opened...like 10 years ago and it never gets old! It's not the same coming here with the COVID restrictions but the food is still so good. I love their impossible burgers and tater tots! There's things you kinda miss when you go vegetarian...like a good 'ol classic hamburger and getting their impossible burger scratches that itch. I do miss getting the Love Boats...so if your a meat eater, GET THE TATOR TOT LOVE BOAT. My other favs pre-vegetarian days: Sooo Cali, Little Mule Burger, Hangover Burger, Ringer, Freiburger, Grand Slam Dog Good quality ingredients (grass-fed, antibiotic & hormone free beef, etc) and pretty big portions...so come starving. Luckily, they have a really nice patio with tables so you don't have to sit outside on a sidewalk. When things are normal, this place is the best to come watch a game or unwind with a couple of drinks...they make really good cocktails! The staff is usually awesome and friendly. There's plenty of parking (parking garages, street meter parking). Alright: originally we had a bad initial experience where they forgot some "upcharged" add-ons and refused to refund us. See previous review. We've given them more chances since then, and I'm glad we did. The food is still *amazing*, and by now it's pretty clear to me that the issues we had were one-offs. As a matter of fact, we actually had a second much worse screw up (they left everything out of a sandwich except the cheese lol). But when I went back and explained, the dude at the front was super apologetic, remade the order, and even gave us vouchers for a free next meal. They have: - cheap and super delicious burgers - outdoor seating - open late hours - cool staff - easy parking (both times I've been there after 9 pm though) Those burgers are not your traditional burgers, they come on Hawaiian rolls instead of regular buns. The best hot dogs ever. Cowboy (5/5) - A smoked bacon-wrapped hot dog topped with fried onions, BBQ sauce, and a cheese sauce. Heavenly, and it tastes as good as it sounds. I love how they use a toasted, sweet bun (Hawaiian rolls, I think?). It's around $6-7 but I believe that's a fairly reasonable price for hot dogs around LA. It is fairly messy but it's okay, just enjoy it and worry about the mess afterward! This stuff is the real deal and I'm excited to go back soon. read more
