One of our first stops on our Seattle trip was Dog In The Park. While this place may look a bit sketchy, it's a well-known brand throughout the city with multiple locations, serving up great dogs! A Seattle dog is a quintessential food item while visiting Seattle. I am happy to say the Dog In The Park Seattle Dog lived up to my expectations. A crispy grilled dog, cream cheese, and plenty of grilled veggies. There are loads of toppings to choose from, too, but the young man serving up the dogs recommended just plain for the first time to really get the classic experience. I think some light mustard and maybe some saurkraut would have been a great addition. Friendly service and good recommendations for a first-timer, though. This is NOT an authentic Seattle dog. Absolutely nowhere else will serve you a Seattle dog with cabbage. When I kindly asked for no cabbage and only onions the guy said "okay" only to turn around and give me a hot dog covered in cabbage. This place is basically my official introduction to what a Seattle Dog is despite frequenting the hell out of Capitol Hill. This was during Sakura Con, and for being one of several food stands occupying real estate around the Seattle Convention Center Arch Building, it gets a ton of traction. Big props to the lone server and cook who was taking orders back and forth from my friends and I and others who rushed to grab some food; he was cooking, taking payments and answering questions all throughout the time we were there. No seating or restrooms available here as it's outside. They were also out of vegan hot dogs, which didn't sit too well with one of my friends. For the Seattle Dog, it's a regular hot dog with caramelized vegetables in a somewhat lightly crispy bun and topped with some cream cheese. Hot dog was so good, vegetables added an extra savory tone that complimented the hot dog, and bun was so tasty I could have asked for another Seattle Dog, though each totals up to $10 before tax, which sounds pretty pricey for a hot dog. Going to a tailgate? You know who is bringing the hot dogs. Let me say that this place was one of the first places I wanted to visit so badly when I came to Seattle, and I'm so glad I did! Nestled in Downtown Seattle, I found this place easily while walking along the street, and I was soooooooo happy to see it from afar! Easily accessible to the general public, the Dog in the Park is the absolute best and you have to come here. If you don't come here, you don't know what you're doing. There's only one thing I wanted, and that would be the Seattle Dog. Creamy cream cheese, with perfectly sauteed/caramalized onions/vegetables inside a long split hot dog with the hot dog being longer than the bun. That's when you know the hot dog is going to be good. I had to order two of them, and it was soooooooo good. Whatever you doing, stop what you're doing, take a plane over to Seattle, take the link light rail to Westlake, walk a few blocks and go get the Seattle dog. Trust me, it's worth it. read more

This location brings about a nostalgia of fall and winter months and hot dogs are grilled to perfection with fresh toppings. They don't have the already grilled reheated veggies and it does take a little while to get your dog but not that much longer. I also enjoy eating a veggie dog during the summer and watching the annual beat masters event at the nearby park. Honestly what a find! This definitely gives hot dog cart feels, but it's totally worth it. You walk up and give your order and the chef just gets busy with making yours in addition to all the other orders. The hot dog and all the toppings were delicious and I am so glad we just swung by here for a local dog near the monorail station. It's in downtown and very walkable from the majority of the area. The day we went it was wet, so seating is limited, but we hopped inside the mall and were able to find a seat to enjoy our quick bite. Highly recommend! read more

Employee took several peoples order and said he would bring out the food when ready but then ended up calling out orders as he hadn't taken names. Dogs are a couple inches longer than the bun and split/cut and grilled. My preference is for it not to be split but it seems a pretty popular method around this area. $8 for a basic hot dog with no toppings seems a little high as well as $14 for basic dog, chips, drink as I know other dog carts that run $5 for a dog. It's been 7 years since I have eaten a Seattle Dog - hot dog with cream cheese and grilled vegetables (though I recall it's usually grilled onions). This place is situated in Westlake Park which is conveniently located with respect to public transit (bus, light rail, monorail). For $9+tax, you get a fairly decent sized hot dog that is a nice filling snack or a light meal. I didn't like this one as much as the time I had it somewhere else many years ago. Maybe it's the grilled vegetables as opposed to grilled onions so it wasn't as flavorful. Even with that, I didn't taste as much cream cheese either - they gave a fairly small amount in the hot dog so it tasted more like a regular hot dog with some grilled vegetables so the hot dog itself was the most prominent flavor with barely subtle notes of other ingredients. Not less than 4 stars since the hot dog itself is pretty delicious if you don't consider it a Seattle Dog. read more

We stopped here while out and about in Seattle. The hotdog stand worker maybe owner was very friendly and patient. He had one large order before us and others behind us so was quite busy without any help. There's a few options but we ordered a hot dog with grilled onions and mustard. The hot dog was longer than the bun which was good but the bun appears to be a hoagie bun. Strange. Plus the he put too much seasoning salt on the onions making the dogs very salty. Onions don't need seasoning salt. Just a random happening but there were tons of security guards hanging around the stand. Great stop for a good hotdog! I had the Chicago dog and added jalapeño to it. Hit the spot on the walk back from the market. There is some outdoor seating nearby in the park with security walking around however you'll still have the occasional homeless or druggie pass through so be on guard. read more
