a food truck at a station

A quintessential drive-in experience. They even have the little tray for your window. We pushed the button to order and they took our order right away and we had our food probably within 5 minutes. Everything came out piping hot. The menu is fairly large so it may take you a minute to choose. I had the Texas Burger basket. I loved the fries and cole slaw, but not so much the texture of the burger patty. The coney sauce was good so I'd just skip the burger next time and go straight for chili cheese fries. The fries are really crispy so they'd definitely hold up to the chili and cheese. The root beer was delicious too.

What to say about Dog N Suds? It was amazing! I had a great time and ate some great food. I had the "Charco Burger." It had the perfect taste. The service was amazing and the workers were so kind. I loved the drive-in aspect. It just made it feel so retro! This place is amazing! 10/10! Would recommend!!!!!!

I decided to get a quick bite to eat at DogN Suds on my way to Indiana Beach. The Chilli dog was great and the root beer excellent too. They do have ice cream here too but I was pretty full after eating my meal. Unusual decor but good service and very fast during my visit.

Overall: Come for the nostalgia, stay for the root beer. The good: Rivals some of the best root beer out there, and of course they serve it in a frosted mug (the way it should be enjoyed). While it's not exactly mind-blowing food, it's exactly what you expect and sometimes that's all you need. The corn and coney dogs are solid on their own merits, but the fries are incredible. Crispy and delicous. Service was fast and friendly. The not-so-good: The prices are a little high for what you get, and the bathroom is meh. Food/drink: 8/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 9/10

No need for this old dog to learn any new tricks. When you pull up to Dog n Suds, you can expect lots of suds and nary a dud. The corn dogs are crunchy, savory, delectable treats that are not to be missed. The burgers are grilled to perfection and topped just right. Even the french fries are engineered to be enjoyed, with each crinkle serving up salt and crunch to engage the senses. Last but not least, the coleslaw is fresh and creamy with a generous amount of celery seed to give you more bang for your buck. Love yourself and visit Dog n Suds today.

Single Bacon Char Burger

I was reluctant at first. I'm not a fan of Sonics. This place gives me the nostalgic feeling when I first tried Sonic with my parents as a young child and immediately turned off by it. My teammate had a another memory associated with this spot. Him and his dad used to eat here and when we found ourselves going by here after winning our tournament; it was only right! I ordered a single bacon char burger and it changed my whole point of view of this place! It was everything I like in my burger. Crispy, char taste, slim/medium thick patty. A no nonsense burger! Only why I'm docking it a point is because there's only one! Just to give you a point of view of how good this place is. We were sitting next to a family that was visiting from Texas and they said anytime they're visiting this place is a MUST STOP!

Diet root beer to-go

1950s diner-style restaurant and a true Lafayette classic. I grew up here my entire life and had never eaten the food at Dog N Suds, just the root beer. Well, I'm here to tell you that the food is incredibly mediocre but the root beer is 5/5 out of this world. I brought my boyfriend who was visiting from out of town and we got the footlong chili cheese dog, boilermaker burger with fries and side of cheese, cheese curds, a corndog and a few diet root beers. The food came out insanely fast--We ordered a lot and it came out in well under 5 minutes. The cheese curds were my favorite thing on the menu, hot, salty, fried and delicious. The chili cheese dog was a lot of bun and not a lot of dog or toppings. (That being said I dipped my extra bun in the cheese sauce we got on the side! Pro tip, this is delicious!) Either way, it's a great staple to take people visiting, and the root beer is best in class.

Dog n Suds started out in Champaign, Illinois in 1953 by two music teachers that opened a hotdog and root beer stand. It was a success and that created what we know as Dog n Suds today. I wish we had more Dog n Suds around Indianapolis. There's two in the West Lafayette and Lafayette area. They have the best char grilled burgers. They just have a great taste to them and the nostalgic call box to order from is also a plus especially during Covid. The service is fast and it looks like at this location they have built an area for outdoor seating with picnic tables will be added soon. The car drive up is all they have as of now. The root beer is what they're known for so order that if you've never had it. Coney dogs, floats, milkshakes, tenderloins and so many other great drive in staples are on the menu. My personal favorite it the Boilermaker. Knowing this restaurant came from a small root beer and hotdog stand ran by music teachers makes it even more unique and it's great to support it.

I love Dog N Suds. I always make sure to visit when I visit Lafayette. I love that you can order and eat in your car. In the summer time I love eating on their patio too. I suggest ordering a foot long coney cheese dog basket with a large root beer. Their shrimp basket is a good choice too! Honestly, there isn't anything I would eat here. As a tip, ask for special sauce for your fries, thank me later. I worked at this location when I was in high school/college and I would definitely still eat here because they keep the working environment clean and everything is so delicious! Also, try their milkshakes, YUM!

Love the concept of this place! Was my first time going in many many years. You pull up into a drive in spot, read the menu, push a call button and order. It's a super easy concept, but what makes it so much better is the execution of it all. The service is impeccable! We had 4 orders and lots of food and it was brought out so quickly with no mistakes. They honored all of our crazy requests, too. They are known for their root beer floats. I didn't order one, but I tried a friends and it was good! Their food was okay, but I honestly think I just ordered wrong. The burgers looked absolutely amazing. My chicken tenders were nothing special, though. Several people I was with raved about the cole slaw!

Best breakfast in Lafayette!…read more Valerie served us up an amazing first time experience at this classic diner. Sign says they use beef tallow as their cooking oil! Love this spot. I ordered the Drew Brees country fried steak meal with hash browns and biscuits. The root beer jelly was a crazy surprise. Wife had the corn beef hash and eggs breakfast. Everything was 10/10 delicious. Nice cup of joe, the Coffee tasted like a nice breakfast blend, not harsh or bitter.

Triple XXX root beer was king of the hill back when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's. Damn…read morefine root beer, too! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise that there was but one Triple XXX restaurant that remained open, carrying the torch (as it were) for that great root beer! So on a nice and humid Saturday, me, hubby, and our little Puppy hopped in the car for a 2+ hr drive to West Lafayette IN for lunch! Of course - we got there - an old-style-diner-like building perched on a hill close to Perdue University in West Lafayette! We were seated in the outdoor "full service" tented section of the restaurant (covered) and perused the menu. After ordering the obligatory Triple XXX root beer (but of course - which came with free refills) we turned to the menu! Hubby ordered the Barney Burger - a 1/4 lb chop steak burger with cheese and grilled onions - as fyi, no burger comes with condiments- you get to "dress your own the way you like it" with condi's on the table. I ordered the Bernie Flowers All-Pro - a 1/4 lb chop steak with lettuce, tomato, onion (which I held) and Miracle Whip (yes!) on a toasty sesame bun. We both got curly fries (which were yummy, btw). Ok- first thoughts- the burgers - while fresh- were a bit dry. Hmm. The lettuce on my Bernie was a nice, crisp, and cold leaf. Yes! The tomato was freshly sliced and - honestly- looked like one I'd cut at home. Sweet! So why the 4 stars - I mentioned the meat was dry? Oh my. Yes, that's the sole demerit. But props to the fries and the awesome Root Beer! We enjoyed it - and just in the nick of time. No sooner did we finish up than a severe thunderstorm rolled into town! So we skedaddled to the car, hopped in, and drove thru drenching rain, super strong winds, some light hail - until we got outta Indiana on our way back to Illinois. Would we come again? Of course! Gotta support places like this-they're an important part of Americana! Check it out yourself and enjoy- as we did!

I was so excited to go to what a thought would be a solid Irish restaurant. Reviews online were…read moregood and pictures looked good. We live in Indianapolis and were in the area so we were really looking forward to trying this place. However, the food was overpriced and low quality. I ordered the Connemara Chicken. This restaurant uses boxed Idaho flakes for their mashed potatoes. The kind you just add water to... the ones that are kind of like a paste texture. I could tell right away. The chicken tasted reheated/chewy and unflavored. The sauce wasn't bad but it had a unique flavor. I liked the vegetables (I loved that they were cooked well and not al dente) but my partner said they tasted unflavored to her. Honestly, I was most disappointed by the mashed potatoes. I don't know how an Irish restaurant- or any restaurant - doesn't use real potatoes. Especially when the dish costs $19. For that price, dehydrated flakes are absolutely crazy. I know inflation is high but come on. My dollar matters too and when I decide to dine out on a rare occasion I'd like to be getting quality food. I asked the waitress- who was very attentive and sweet- if this is what they always use for potatoes or if it was an off day and she said they always make them with the Idaho box of flakes. Again, she was super sweet and very attentive. We had no issues with service at all. But using fake mashed potatoes at a restaurant is really disappointing. Especially for the price. Also, the water. The first glass of water we were given tasted normal. The refill tasted super weird so my partner mentioned it. The waitress told us she knows it's weird, apologized, and said that the water in one area of the restaurant tastes weird but the other area tastes fine. She offered to get us water from the "good" faucet after that which we appreciated. Odd to me that they are aware the water tastes off/bad (and have an alternative that's better) but still serve the bad stuff to customers. My partner did really like her tenderloin sandwich. It was crispy and had good flavor. The pub chips were okay but they didn't have seasoning and many were dry/airy and as though they may have been sitting a while. Kinda weird. We talked about possibly coming back when they have live bands to give it another shot and maybe just get an appetizer instead of entrees because we really did like the service and the vibe there.
