I've been coming here since I was a baby, since 1992. My grandpa went to Purdue, then my dad, my uncle, and then me. I live in Wisconsin now, and I haven't been back to campus since I graduated in 2016. My dad is having surgery in Indy tomorrow, so I decided to make Purdue my halfway point for the night. I couldn't not come back to triple xxx. All my memories from being a little kid with my grandpa, to basketball games with my dad, and to eating here one last time after graduation came flooding back. Same great, classic diner food. some things never change. College kids working the counter making all the alumni's feel cool by listening to their stories, the ice cold rootbeer and the barstools that are way too close together. Triple xxx is a staple.

This was my first visit to Triple XXX Family Restaurant. It did not disappoint. I enjoyed THE BERNIE FLOWERS ALL-PRO, A 1/4lb. chop steak, onion, lettuce, tomato with Miracle Whip on a toasty sesame bun. I prefer burgers well done and this was more like medium. So, if you're going here keep that in mind. Otherwise, it was a delicious burger. I also had onion rings, which were delicious. I chose root beer float to drink and it was probably the best root beer float I've ever had. I couldn't resist taking a 4 pack of root beer home. Despite being incredibly busy, the servers were calm, respectful, and quick. Very nice atmosphere that took me back decades. Highly recommend this iconic restaurant.

Food was just amazing. Service was very friendly and fast, just like a diner. Ambiance was of a legit diner. Great place, great service, great food. I also drove over an hour there and back, and it was totally worth it.,

Cool place to try if you're in the Purdue/West Lafayette area. Wanted to try the peanut butter burger that was featured on Diner's, Drive-In, and Dives. The peanut butter was heavy and wasn't my cup of tea, but it's worth a try! Kind of expensive since no sides are included. The onion rings and breaded mushrooms are not really worth ordering on the side. Loved the root beer! It wasn't too sweet and loved that it was unlimited refills. The restaurant has limited seating, so be prepared to wait but enjoyed the diner feeling. Highly recommend walking to the place and parking somewhere else since parking is very limited.

I went here before winter finals with a friend and I wasn't super impressed nor super let down. It's known as a Purdue campus tradition and being from California, I knew I needed to try it. It was cool being at a restaurant that Drew Brees would order at! Service was great, seating area is lunch counter style where you're sitting on stools. I liked how I was able to see the burgers being made. The burger was good it was a bit dry but had a good flavor. I think that it was pretty pricey for an average burger but I think that tradition also adds to the appeal. The fries were pretty good but the star was the root beer. The burger was a usual burger nothing super special or novel but it was definitely satisfying.

The food was good, but the wait can be long at times. Just a heads up if you're coming from further away, they do not accept takeout orders if the restaurant is on the busier side.

I can't say enough good accolades about the wonderful service from our waitress. They have an outdoor tent area to enjoy the food. It comes out quick and everyone liked what they got. My Drew Brees special was nice. I wouldn't get it again because of how fried it was but it was a splurge.

If it makes Guy Fieri's DDD visit then it is good enough to try. A small, close space with some outside tables, weather permitting. We sat at the counter, Valerie was quick to greet us and bring water. She was friendly and suggestive with food choices since we told her we were out of and first time visitors. We had onion rings, fries, especially sweet potato with the marshmallow dipping saice. The cheese burger with grilled onions was delicious. And most of all the traditional Root Beer, served in a frosted mug. Yummy! Suggest you give this spot a try when in Lafayette, Indiana. Thanks Valarie for your courtesy.

Triple XXX is still the fun and iconic place to visit. The counter style seating and diner feel is unique for today's restaurants. The diner is still in good repair for an old facility. The staff does their best to keep the diner moving and counters clean. The staff is generally friendly and focused on business. I was impressed that Dylan was right on top of the refills and filling customer requests quickly. My wife loved the Duane Purvus burger. The combination of beef and peanut butter is unique and very tasty! It really is a must try on one of your visits. I strayed with the onion rings. The ring is a thin and almost stringy piece of onion. The onion had a nice mild taste and a thicker batter. The batter was a bit greasy. However the thin rings and coating were fried just enough to give it a nice crisp. Overall very good ring! The chili dog was not as tasty. I loved the grilled and halved dog. This helps to bring out the meat flavor. The bun was nice and steamed and soft. The dog was topped with chili. I assume it is the same chili as you would get in a bowl. The chili was almost all beans...which is odd for a chili sauce. There were some small pieces of beef in the sauce - but not much. The chili dog really tasted like a hit dog with a thin coating of baked beans. The hot dog was bit more predictable. The grilled dog and steamed bun were as expected. The added relish, onions and ketchup/mustard were right on. The long pickle spear that was laid a top the dog was a great accent!

Please try the peanut butter burger!!!! I'm not a huge peanut butter fan but it was actually so yummy. My breakfast platter was also really tasty. I like all of the fun pictures and decor on the wall, really gives a comfortable vibe. DYLAN IS AN AWESOME SERVER!!!! We loved Dylan!!

You know when a place is more than just a good meal, it's an experience? The whole vibe - sitting at the diner counter, the frosty mugs of root beer, the friendly staff - it's all authentic and fun. We stopped here on a road trip and our server Valerie was very helpful, recommending what to get and little tips like, get the gravy on the side, or try the root beer jelly on the biscuits not the toast. I don't eat meat, so I got the cod sandwich which was excellent, and the sweet potato fries. They came with cinnamon marshmallow dipping sauce and our server wrote triple x on it! There are so many extra little things here that make it unique. My son got the Drew Brees with chicken fried steak and my partner got the biscuits and gravy, all were very good. Needless to say, we got some root beer and jelly to go!

I really had high hopes for this place, realizing that amongst all the choices in West Lafayette or…read moreLafayette, this was definitely a cuter smaller probably ma and pa owned place rather than the other big conglomerate of chains. I don't like giving out low or poor reviews. However, this visit was really unfortunate. Upon walking in there was no one who greeted you and when she did emerge from the kitchen, there was nothing along the lines of high welcome or good morning rather it was how many. Our waiter only came to our table once for a refill on coffee however never asked us how our meal was after it had arrived. He also did not give us the check on his little mobile machine, although we did see him give checks to other tables right next to us on his little mobile machine, if that is what I saw. they made us walk all the way back to the front in order to check out and pay. Our waiter did take the right order, which was my omelette with no cheese however, as you can see from the pictures, there was definitely cheese in this omelette. That was also disappointing. My partner ordered toast which came with his meal, and the bread was not toasted at all in fact, it looked like it was just simply taken out of the bag. The eggs also were not fresh eggs. He definitely came out of a carton. The country fried steak he ordered was definitely not steak as well. The only thing that really went well were my hashbrowns because they were toasted on the top part. The coffee here unfortunately tasted like brown hot water. the place photographs well, with all the hanging florals this unfortunately really missed the ball and missed the point. It was a huge waste of money and they really need to work on service and food here. If you have other choices for breakfast, please go somewhere else because this is very disappointing. Our waiter was not attentive. When we saw someone cleaning a table that it really wasn't being cleaned it was simply being cleared out. No cleaning tools or cleaning fluids were used at all in the process of cleaning. I didn't think anyone could really ruin breakfast orders, but they definitely managed to do it.

Super cute place that's open all day! Breakfast for dinner, oh yes! Service was great. I had ran 16…read moremiles that morning and I was so ready for food. We all got coffee, which was lukewarm when they serve it. Second cup was warmer, but never hot. When my food came out the fries were cold, but at least they were crispy and seasoned well. My burger had what seemed like 8 tablespoons worth of mayonnaise on it and I had to take more than half of it off. At first I thought it was cheese which I was so excited for but sadden to learn it was mayonnaise. Ask for it on the side of you don't want a lot. My burger was cooked medium well but it was fine, expected more well done. Flavor was good though. Plenty of parking. Lots of options on the menu. Nice cozy place to check out.
