This facility offers a solid range of services, I've visited Dog Play Care facility primarily for grooming, and my experience has been decent.Your experience may vary depending on certain factors. Staff & Service: The quality of service seems to depend a lot on the staff. Some team members are extremely kind and seem to have a great rapport with my dog, while others, not as much. I did have one incident where my dog was uneasy to a particular staff member, and since switching to a different groomer, I haven't had any issues. It seems like the experience can depend on the chemistry between your dog and the staff. Facilities & Cleanliness: The facility itself is clean, spacious, and well-maintained. I always feel comfortable with the level of care they provide in terms of the environment. They also offer events and activities. Boarding & Daycare: While I haven't used the boarding or daycare services personally, from what I've observed, the setup seems to cater to larger group play. My preference is for smaller groups, based on my dog's personality, so this might not be the best fit for everyone. This is Bailey's 9th month as a member of this day care and we are very happy. I'm so glad this place values transparency and provides cameras so owners can check on their furry children. Bailey comes home tired so I know that he's been playing all day and running. They don't cage the dogs for long periods of time and I love it. Also, the staff are friendly, helpful and kind. I'm proud to take bailey here and I highly recommend it to others that feel their pup might be getting bored at home. We have also had grooming, overnight boarding and have been happy with all services provided. They don't leave the dogs alone and they also clean very well. We LOVE Dog Play Day Care! Both of our fur babies are regulars and come home happy and exhausted after every visit. The DPDC staff are all top notch professionals who treat each pup like family. Our puppy has terrible separation anxiety after I worked from home for more than a year and barks nonstop when crated at home. He sprints inside DPDC at drop-off every morning, thrilled to see his all of his human and dog friends. It is such a comfort to know that he is safe and entertained while I am at work. I love being able to check the cameras throughout the day and feel confident that both of my dogs are happy. read more

Number of concerns, some of which were acknowledged by the business (dog not let outside to relieve herself for an unacceptable timeframe - agreed by facility and rectified for subsequent days after complaint - toy to be kept in crate for comfort destroyed by another dog with no recourse, other dogs in her crate and on her bed - agreed and rectified after complaint), others we disagree. Handlers spent meaningful periods sitting and/or giving more attention to their phones than the dogs - one continuously sprayed dogs in the face with water simply for approaching and not related to normal training. Called facility several times (connected 3, with at least 2 other attempts) during a 4-day stay with issues visible on camera. This is atypical as our dog has spent time at other facilities (e.g., Dogtopia, which also maintains video access) and we never felt the need to call based on what we viewed. Our dog lost nearly 15% of body weight over 4.5 days and returned with a number of new fresh sores on her muzzle; large and deep blood stains on bed; abnormal behavior for several days after returning due to trauma. All of this was deemed normal by the provider - yes, pets can be emotional - but something we have not experienced with other facilities. Owner response has been in somewhat of an attacking manner and something we have not experienced with a business owner in the past, which appears to be reflected on a few of the other Yelp reviews (referencing customer blaming or otherwise). At the end of the day, we agree to disagree, but I do hope that others have a better experience than we and our pup. read more

I wanted to love this place, but Adam Fishman, the owner, and his team lead, Kevin, have made it impossible. I was an infrequent customer, taking my dog for boarding a couple of times a year. The last visit was in early July 2017. I enjoyed the friendly staff, the cheerful atmosphere for the dogs, and the ability to check in on my dog during the day via their webcams. And thank god for those webcams, because I caught one of those "friendly" staff members dragging my dog by her collar, to get her to move from one space in the playroom to another. I was hundreds of miles from home and I can't tell how it felt to not be able to rescue her that moment. I was assured when I called immediately after I saw it, that it "looked bad but wasn't that bad." But friends, it WAS bad. When I was able to get home and pick her up, I found several other issues: chief among them was that she was not given all of the medication I arranged (and paid) for her to be administered during her stay; and she had poop stuck to her rear end, even though I'd also arranged (and paid) for a bath. I reached out to Adam right away, and it took him two weeks to respond to my concerns, and another two weeks to resolve the matter. He did finally issue a refund of my stay, but after many, many emails on my part, asking for some resolution. I was even sent a scan of what appeared to be a "receipt," backdated by two weeks and I was told I should have received a refund on that date. Kevin told me that I had been emailed about it (two weeks prior), when I simply never was. I was watching my email like a hawk about this issue, and would not have missed any emails from Kevin or Adam, despite their claim that a "read receipt" proved I'd read it. Triple checks with my bank confirmed no refund was ever sent. On and on the saga went, until enough pressure on Adam and Kevin finally resulted in their issuing the refund two weeks after they claimed they did. All through the process, they subtly put the blame back on me: I "didn't receive" the email, "my bank" must have lost the refund, I must have "miscounted" my dog's meds and so on. If you read Adam's responses to low star reviews here on Yelp, you will see evidence of this customer-blaming in action. I have since been in touch with other former customers, who shared eerily similar stories with me, of egregious and dangerous issues with their dog's care, and a long saga to get those issues resolved - even down to the claims of refunds and "read receipts" that never happened. I am sure there are staff members at Dog Play Day Care who love dogs and do a great job. But with Adam and Kevin at the helm, you cannot be assured that 1) your dog is safe and 2) their business practices are on the level. There are so many other dog day care and petsitting/boarding services in the NW suburbs. Go find a better one. read more

Love DPDC! I've been a customer of theirs for about seven years now. Have used them for day care, boarding, and grooming - love that they are a one-stop shop. My older dog has some behavior issues stemming from his life before we rescued him, and the staff there has always been incredibly patient and understanding of his needs and his temperament. Now we've introduced our 8 month old puppy to day care, and he absolutely loves it! It's an added bonus that the dogs both come home exhausted and happy after their day at DPDC. I love that we can watch the dogs on their webcams too - my daughters love finding their dogs on the screen and watching them play. I'm grateful to Dog Play Day Care for taking such wonderful care of my dogs when they are there, and for being so flexible with my "trickier" dog. My dog loves to come here for daycare. We just started coming in March, but the staff are so nice and make me feel comfortable when I leave my dog there. They have a nice store front where you can buy treats, collars, and toys. They also offer grooming and boarding services. For me the best part is the live web cam. I am able to work from home, at the office or be on the road and check in on her from my laptop or my cell phone. Only downside is they dont have an outside area or any astro turf for the dogs to go potty on, so my dog holds it all day and then we have accidents all night. read more

I have used this service for daycare 8 times now. I am going to be honest the first few days I was hesitant but we picked it for boarding because at the time I was pregnant, just moved, and needed to figure out what to do with the pup while at the hospital. We ended up not needing to board, but continued with daycare. I like that you are able to watch the dogs in live feed. I can see my dog bringing the care takers balls or looking to be loved. One day he came home and was so thirsty, not sure why, but all other times he seems happy and tired. Today was the best, he went running in to see the workers, they greeted him and me. They care about the clients and remember you even with the sporadic use of services. I was so happy to see my dog excited to go in and play, it gave me reassurance that he is treated well and likes it here. read more

Brought our dog to this day care today for a behavioral assessment. We were hoping to start sending her to day care a couple of times a week. Stephanie at the front desk was very kind and helpful and gave us the information to login to the webcam so we could watch how our dog was doing during her assessment. When we got home, we logged in and for the next 2 hours we watched as our dog sat alone in a pen full of dogs. No interaction with any handler. No playing amongst any of the dogs, and certainly no assessing! There was a handler in the large dog pen that was sitting along the wall looking at his phone for the better part of the 2 hours. He paid no attention to any of the dogs in either pen. It felt more like a dog shelter than a day care. The cost of the assessment was $35 and luckily they agreed to waive the charge. We will definitely not be bringing her back. read more

We just recently started bringing our puppy here for daycare and we are very happy with the place (and staff!) And more importantly, as soon as our puppy gets out of the car and realizes where she is, she cannot wait to get inside and play. So as long as she is happy, we are happy! The only suggestion I would make (although, easier said then done) is to upgrade the cameras. I love being able to watch our pup during the day but the quality of the video streaming is not the greatest. read more

So here is my review. We used to bring our Frenchie here but stopped and I'll explain why. We used to attend this day care when they had a receptionist named Melissa or Brad both very nice people they remembered my dog every time I also met some handlers that my dog LOVED (Sam and Harley) I knew my baby was well taken care of when they were around. I then find out Melissa, Sam, and Brad had left (very disappointing) but we still kept attending . As we continued to attend we learned some new things. The new front desk receptionist (Sam or something on those lines) wasnt very kind .I thought maybe shes having a bad day (we've all been there) by the end of the week the receptionist still didnt know my dogs name and didnt greet us with a smile she was definitely no Melissa but luckily we still had Harley and met another wonderful handler Steve. Things were good up till I started to really pay attention. My dog smelled worse and worse each time she came home. I saw dogs being in the same cage for hours at a time and people sitting playing on their phones not watching the dogs. What also really bugged me was one handler had 15 or 16 dogs. THATS DANGEROUS! I saw bleach being used around the dogs and honestly the dogs dont get much one on one time with the handlers. So we finally chose to take our pup out. We placed her in another local Daycare in des Plaines that seems to have themselves under control. read more

I would not board my dog there again! Customers are asked to pick up their dogs at 7:00-8:00 am. When I arrived at 7:45 the place was closed; no one had arrived for work on time. This meant that all the dogs were alone from 10:00 pm till 8:15 am when one employee showed up late. I asked if it was normal for there to be nobody on the premises over night? The answer was YES.. The dogs are unattended, unless there are more than 20 dogs present. Wish I had known this before, I would not have used them. Nowhere on the website or on the price sheet is this fact stated. If a dog became ill, or injured itself over night it would be completely helpless! Additionally I saw a very large stack of customer receipts, daily reports, etc at a small desk in the lobby area. This could be a security risk. Sloppy and unprofessional. read more

Not only are these guys great at integrating dogs, regardless of any little quirks they may have (as opposed to some of the larger outfits that will only accept a dog if he acts as though is tranquilized on heavy doses of ketamine, all the time), they are charitable and have kind hearts and have stepped forward in the past to offer boarding for homeless dogs in need of temporary shelter while rescue is being arranged, so that they would not be killed in shelters. Because of these two reasons, while will still lived in Evanston, we continually drove out of our way to take our dog there. He LOVED it. It took us awhile to find a good place that even came close to matching their professionalism, charity, and expertise down here in the St Louis area. Anytime we have to come visit Chicago, we will definitely bring our pup along so he can make a visit to his old stomping grounds. read more

My 2 dogs have been coming here since they were puppies. The staff's are super friendly and nice. The place is very clean and neat. My favorite part, they have a webcam where I can watch my dogs at work. I enjoy watching them running around and playing all day, especially when I board them...i get to watch them while on vacation. I have taken my dogs to many places to get groomed and no one is good as they are. They smell soooo good. I can't trust anyone else with my babies except dog play day care. I was so excited to find a place I could take my 5 month old miniature schnauzer so that he didn't have to be kept at home alone all day. The first day was great. I left him his blanket and the rest of his breakfast he didn't finish that morning. I asked if they would be able to put it in his crate when they put the dogs Away for cleaning up. I was told that they would do that. I watched him on the web cam and it was great. He walked around and played with the other dogs and was happy when my boyfriend picked him up. Now the second day was really terrible. We dropped our pup off and everything seemed great. I would check in on the cameras and this time he wasn't walking around or playing. He sat under a chair for a very long time. (I have time stamped photos to prove) i didn't think much of it he was probably tired and wanted to just hang out. then around 2pm I checked the cam and i couldn't find him. An hour went by and still nothing. Again didn't think too much about it he was probably out of view of the camera. (Flag number one) My boyfriend gets there at 330ish to pick our pup up. He give me him his name and they go back to get him. A minute later they come out and ask "what does your dog look like?" (Flag number 2) My boyfriend watches the camera as they try looking for him. (Flag number 3) He watches them as they pull him out from underneath the crates. He was brought out scared, wet, sticky and shaking. They said he must of squeezed under there. We didn't have to pay for the stay that day. But my problems lies in that we never received an apology. Not one. Nor am I convinced that it was 20 min. Because I hadn't seen him in an hour. After my boyfriend calls and tell me what had happened I call to ask for the whole story. Again, i didn't receive an apology. I wouldn't be writing this if It seemed like anyone was apologetic I know mistakes happen . No one was! I was so upset all night knowing we had left our left pup in the care of people who don't keep track of how many dogs are in there care and also with people who didn't take responsibility for their neglect . I'm not saying they should be watched every second of the day. I just think head counts would do just fine. One more thing is they never did take out his blanket or food for him. If they couldn't do it they shouldn't of said they would. So end story proceed with caution. Make sure you see your pup in the cameras and see how they act while they are there. I can attest to the peace of mind that goes with knowing your four-legged friend is being take of by someone who truly cares. On a recent overnight visit, Wrigley Bear reminded his overnight caregiver that he sleeps with humans, not alone. And sure enough, after I picked up his doggie hotel stay report card, its owner Adam informed that Wrigley Bear worked his way to actually sleeping beside his overnight caregiver. This experience was truly incredible, and Wrigley Bear came home so dog-gone tired that it took him three days to fully recovery from all his fun. He loves to stay here overnight and does daycare here once a monthly or so. The doggie cam is great, but I can't get any work done when it's on! I brought my dog here just at 11 weeks because we had to leave for day trip. They were very attentive to our puppy! Copper goes about once a week and he gets so excited. They know him by name and he is always very excited. The only thing I think is a small negative are the prices. We may be moving into the city and the day care is about 14 bucks cheaper at 20 bucks for a full day. Here it is 34. I would bring Cooper here more If it was price friendly. Also I wishe they had a outside area in the summer. But I still love the people and the place! read more

"Try" because we have had to sedate her for the last 3 years to get her nails cut at vet. I've been bringing my dog to DPDC since summer of 2010. I had just adopted her & wanted to make sure she stayed socialized w/other dogs. After her initial temperament test, she was ready to go. She is always excited to go see her human & doggy friends. Can't say enough about the people that work there. You can tell how much they love the dogs & I love hearing about who my dog played with & what she did each day. The web-cam is a great touch, too. Picked up my puppy on 1/1/18 and he had been cut considerably while in this facility over Holiday break: 12/22- 1/1/18. I followed up immediately when I noticed the cut right when I got home that night. Owner, Adam, wrote me an email on 1/1 stating they will review tapes and let me know of any findings. I did not get any response until after I emailed owner again(on 1/18) asking how / when my dog was cut like this at their facility. The owner did not respond for 18 days and only responded in that timeframe because I followed up today - just terrible business practices & service; especially for a serious cut that occurred under this facilities watch. Not a minor cut at all as evidenced in the pictures. My wife and I will never leave our puppy here again as knowing the puppy will be safe at day care is our greatest concern. I would highly recommend to all dog owners to search for any other dog care facility in the area. read more

I moved from the city where my dog has attended daycare for 4 years without an issue. He attended her a few times and came home dripping blood one day. Obviously concerned, I called the daycare and instantly sent photos of the gash in his face. The girl that answered the phone said they'd review footage and get back to me that day or the next day, then it turned into 3 days later, then it turned into 2 weeks later, then almost a month. She also said we'd be able to have access to the footage and then they went back on that. My fiance and I had to do all the follow up besides one email we received saying they were still reviewing footage. It seems as if they were waiting us out thinking we'd eventually calm down and forget about it. The owner was difficult and tried playing word games to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal. The only positive thing I can say is that they that refunded me the remaining days of my daycare package BUT charged me at full cost instead of the discounted package rate for the days he did attend. They also said that the dog who bit him (which I still don't know what happened or if he got bit since they never gave me a conclusion of the footage and wouldn't let us have it so who knows what actually happened and why he came home bleeding) would be responsible for the vet bills, even though they were responsible for watching the dogs, so needless to say I got stuck with that cost. Very alarming interactions all around (and again, this isn't my first rodeo, my dog has been attending daycare for over 4 years). They didn't even seem concerned that a dog came home dripping blood from their facility. I understand that accidents happen during play, but the fact that no one even noticed his face literally dripping blood (especially when they had to put a harness on him to bring him to me!) is negligent. Trust them with your dogs at your own risk. Edit: Just had the last interaction with the owner and he suggested that maybe our car door push the gash in his face and that his staff is stellar and that he'd love to pay my fiance to come work there and see if he could do better. We have a intact 5 month old Westie. Most places we found, required the dogs to be neutered/spayed at 4 months.. Which is understandable, but made it difficult for us to find a place to send our boy once or twice a week to socialize/play. Until we found DPDC. Their cut off is 7 months. I e-mailed them in the morning and got a response within a couple hours. We decided to check our their facility that same day and really liked what we saw. Clean, friendly, lots of dogs, separated into groups according to their temperament. The following morning, we decided to drop him off. So we can run some errands. We enjoyed watching him on the web cam, he got plenty of attention and play. He passed their evaluation and is welcomed back. When we got home, he was dead tired and looked like he didn't want to leave! read more

I've been bringing my dog Mila here on and off for awhile and so far I am really satisfied with the level of care and attention she receives. It's really nice that they have half-day and full day packages and my favorite part about this place is that you can drop in, no questions asked. A lot of places make you sign up in advance which is kind of frustrating because sometimes I don't know if I'm gonna bring her to day care that day or not. So the drop in policies are a huge perk. I also really love the fact that there's a WebCam and I can login and see what she's doing throughout the day. Today, I also met the owner Adam who happened to be there and he was super nice and seems like a great guy. The only thing I could say improvement wise would be that would be nice is if there half day packages were six hours instead of five since lots of places are. Also, that my dog holds it all day , I just think she's not used to going inside. So an outside astroturf or something would be great but it is what it is. Overall great place! read more

We have been taking our 3 month old puppy here for a few weeks. While it is difficult to see what actually goes on inside the dog play area (they don't let the public back there as it excites the dogs), we can tell that our puppy is very happy to go there as she nearly drags us to the door when we drop her off. Additionally, she gets a good amount of socialization and exercise, and comes home exhausted and well behaved. They feed her if you bring food, and she appears to be happy and healthy. The rates seem fair, and while we don't expect to be able to afford to bring her every day forever, it seems to be valuable for her at her age. We certainly will board her there when needed and drop her off periodically for play dates after we stop bringing her daily. The staff seems caring and you get the feeling they love dogs there and this is not "just a business". All dogs are given a behavioral assessment prior to being permitted to socialize with other dogs, so they seem to be in good hands. read more

I will start by saying we used this service several times in the past and enjoy supporting local businesses. Our dog is 2 years old and we generally liked the concept of her being able to play with other dogs yet have her own space to sleep. Unfortunately I think the level of care and compassion for the dogs (at least ours) has declined greatly. During her stay of several days she contracted a bacterial infection on her two front paws and could barely walk when she was picked up. Our vet said she was likely standing in urine/water for a period of time to contract the infection. Upon being picked up on Friday we were told she started licking her feet on Thursday (the day before). The irony of this is that we had originally planned to pick her up Thursday and called that day to make sure all was ok and ask if we could pick her up Friday,,,as we might take a detour on our way home. Nothing about her paws was mentioned to us. What a horrible feeling we had after picking her up the next day and she could barely walk and would not acknowledge us. After 2 weeks of wearing a cone and take medication, thankfully she is now better. Like most of you, our dog is part of the family and watching her in pain and not respond to us or our kids for days was heartbreaking. The owner of this business decided to take the stance that there was no wrong doing on behalf of him or his employees and that this coincidently happened. He offered for us to sift through days worth of video to prove that somehow our healthy, trusting dog was dropped off and didn't magically contracted a bacterial infection. Remember we were repeat, loyal customers. There was nothing he could do to restore our faith in ever bringing her back there--this was not a $$ thing. To convey nothing was wrong with their practices and that someone's lack of action didn't cause this--is RIDICULOUS. This is not a dry cleaner that lost your shirt and doesn't want to give the money for what is cost. This is supposed to be a place where you can consistently count on bringing your dog and trust she will be treated with the utmost care and come back to you happy and healthy. Like many places...it's not what it used to be. One episode like this... is too many, for us at least. read more

It would have been more professional of the staff at the time I picked up my pet. I love taking her there because I know she will be well cared for. I always take her there for boarding because I like that she spends her days with the other dogs and not in a crate.
