This place is absolutely fantastic! We have a 2 yo Chihuahua mix named Penny. She has all of the "lovable" traits of a chi (you know, barky, nippy, fear aggressive? What's not to love?) and so we were worried leaving her. That was 2 years ago and we have boarded Penny, brought her a.couple of times to day play, & have had her groomed. And each & every time been so glad we did so. The staff is incredibly friendly, experienced, and most importantly so great with our Penny. They have a doggy cam you can watch which is prettt great. Marley and I love Dog Time. Its such a extraordinary place! Every handler treats each dog as if it's their own. Dogs are never in cages. They play all day in one of four activity rooms. My energetic guy spends all day in the ball room along with his ball chasing buddies, fetching balls thrown by the handlers. Each room has a video camera that can be viewed on your smart phone or computer. Oh and by the way, the dogs are never left alone. There is actually a dog-to-handler ratio policy. Each handler has a special way with dogs and they've created a harmonious and safe environment for these four legged kids to interact. The staff is so accommodating of our dogs dietary and medical needs and restrictions. When my Marley was having some digestive issues, they watched him very closely and gave me an account of how his day went. I feel like I'm dropping my kid off to pre-school. Marley's excitement when he sees the handlers when I drop him off in the morning but also when I pick him up in the evening tells me that he loves being here. He always runs back to give the handlers a goodbye hug before we leave out the door. This is not my first experience at Dog Time. Before Marley came to me, I had a dog named Kobe. Unfortunately my Kobe was hit by a car. When Mark and the Dog Time staff found out, they were amazingly supportive, which truly helped me deal with my loss. When I found Marley, there was no question where he would spend his day while I was at work. He's been coming for 2 years now. I can't say enough good things about Dog Time. We've been boarding our dog here for year and a half and absolutely love Mark and all of his super friendly, always smiling staff. They know and greet you and your animal by name when you arrive, the check-in/checkout process is always quick and easy, they offer grooming services and of course the web cam access is a bonus. It's not the cheapest boarding place in town but it's probably the best, I believe you get what you pay for. read more

LET THE BUYER BEWARE: THERE IS NO ON-SITE SUPERVISION AT THIS FACILITY FROM 7:00pm-11:00pm MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY--the supervision during these hours is conducted solely off-site via remote cameras only. So how do they respond if there's an earthquake, fire, or medical emergency during these hours? Sorry, but when it could involve my baby, I'm not gonna stick around to find out. (Interestingly, no one there had any answers, either.) As Mark (the owner) insulted me right out-of-the-box when I called, after learning this, to have my credit balance refunded (telling me he'd be glad, "...just to get rid of you"), he apparently doesn't feel that it makes absolutely no sense for a business that is otherwise outstanding to put its clients, its reputation and, indeed, their entire business at risk because they don't want to hire someone to work an extra 20 hours/week max. Like I said, my dog is my baby. That's why I boarded her here: because I THOUGHT (past-tense) she was safe and getting the best care available THE ENTIRE TIME she was there. For me, at least, someone needs to be on-site at all times in case of an emergency. Solely using off-site monitoring just doesn't cut it any more than it would if this were extended childcare--and I don't care if it's just for 10 minutes, let alone 4 hours. What a relief to finally find a caring, loving place for my two dog best friends for over night stays or just a day of fun at doggie day care. They are the best!! Atticus loves to go to his daycare. The employees are very friendly and proactive. They understand our situation and help us. Dogtime also has good packages as well. We've been taking our sensitive, Separation Anxiety-afflicted little Italian Greyhound to Dog Time for daycare and boarding for many years now. We've always been so happy with the place and, in an earlier review, I wrote that Dog Time was my favorite business in the Bay Area. Now I have to update that to say Dog Time is my favorite business ANYWHERE on earth, and that's because Dog Time has allows us to travel the world without worry, knowing that while we are away, our little guy will be cared for as well as we would care for him ourselves. We've just returned from a three week trip. During that time, we checked in occasionally with Dog Time to ensure all was well. At about halfway through our trip, Mark Thomas, the owner, contacted us to say that Racer showed signs of an upset stomach. Mark made an appointment to personally take Racer to our regular veterinarian. Then, because the soonest appointment was a few days away, Mark instead took Racer to his own vet, just so he could be seen sooner. Racer was seen, treated, given a special diet--all of which handled by Mark and his amazing staff--and in a day or so he was was back to normal. Honestly, we probably wouldn't have been as "on top of" or as quick to solve the problem as Mark was. We picked Racer up a couple of days ago and he is completely back to normal. This level of attentiveness and care is SO unusual. It is truly a gift to us that Dog Time caregivers will take Racer for a day, a week, or a month, giving us the freedom to live our lives and even travel the world while also knowing Racer's being cared for as thoughtfully as if we were home. That's why I have to say that Dog Time is my favorite business in the whole world, because Dog Time has given us freedom to be part of the world! Hokulele, our super pup, just spent her birthday (1 year old) at Dog Time today! Mark, the owner, is such a nice guy and the rest of the staff always makes our puppy feel special! We were looking for a daycare facility for our young, rambunctious dog. We commute daily from the East Bay to San Francisco, and Dogtime is conveniently located near the 880 freeway and the San Leandro bart station. After doing some research on Yelp, we were impressed with the 5 star reviews of Dogtime and knew we had to check it out. Months later, we know we have found the perfect place for Sebastian! He comes here Monday through Friday and has a great time playing with his doggy friends and getting love from the daycare attendants! We love watching him on the webcam - it's great to be able to check in on him throughout the day and know he is having so much fun! Sebastian is quite a handful, as he is a young dog with lots of energy, but Mark and his team are great with him. It's great to know that Sebastian is in good hands while we are away during the day. read more

I cannot believe I have never reviewed Dog Time! I have been taking my pup here for three years and without fail, she is enthusiastic every time she she jumps out of the car to see her friends (both the two legged and four legged kind). I have a very large and very active dog and as it happens there have been bumps and scrapes that have occurred along the way, the staff has always been quick to point it out and advise me what actions they took to make sure she was fine. In fact, it was an observant member of the staff that noticed Maisey was walking with the slightest of limps and recommended that we check it out (after X-rays with a specialist, happy to report nothing there!). There is very little turnover here so you are always interacting with the same friendly staff and the owner Mark and manager Tony are great guys who establish a warm rapport with their clients. There are other facilities with fancier accommodations (pools, huh?!), but it is only Dog Time that I trust with my most precious being on this planet (apologies to my husband, friends and family - if you knew Maisey you would understand). We recently decided we needed to change groomers, as we were not comfortable with the way ours interacted with the dogs in her shop. She had a different approach and philosophy than we did about how to interact with and correct animals. I asked around and a friend told me about Dog Time! I have followed their FB page, as they video the dogs on Fridays and share on their page. They have an open area where all the dogs play. So very cute. I took my Lola in and from the minute I stepped through the door I knew we found our new groomer. The owner greeted us and he immediately picked up my Lola and loved on her. He talked about the dogs as if they were all his. Even his staff gave off the same amazing vibe. Lola came out happy and adorable. They offer day care and overnight visits, also. My girl loves coming to this place! As soon as we walk in the first door she's walking away from me and towards the door to the play rooms. It actually breaks my heart a little how eager she is to leave me. Once the DH dropped her off and made this disappointed noise. She came back snuggled him for two seconds and then it was "Peace out! I'm going to play with my dog friends now!" Even if she doesn't find any play buddies the staff is willing to snuggle her all day long. She always comes home exhausted. We've also used boarding a few times and it's also great. The really awesome secret is the baths! It's the best deal ever. The full grooming is not so great but the basic bath and day care combined is the deal of the century. There's nothing like picking up a great smelling, happy, tired dog. read more

We have taken our dog June to Dog Time for several years now and they are wonderful! All of the staff is warm and friendly. We can tell that they really love our dog, so we know they take the best care of her while she's there. It's great socialization for her and she always comes home tired and happy from playing all day. As far as customer service goes they are easy to work with, very responsive and thoughtful. dog time play and stay is a great place for your dog to play. i have been going there for years sacha my pit bull loves it she gets so excited on the way there i ask her do you want to go see your friends and her lip starts quivering. when we pull up, tony usually is the one that has the door open waiting for us. i cant even get the car door open and she jumps over my lap to get out. when she gets home she goes right to sleep she so tired out from playing all day. all the staff are great. you can even watch them from home or work on the web cam. read more

Our 8 month old boxer/pit Nala LOVES this place. She is super high energy and comes home exhausted from playing all day. The staff is so nice to the people and especially to the dogs. They have webcams you can log into anytime to take a peek at your pup. They keep the floors clean and there is ALWAYS someone in the play area with the dogs. I also love that there's always a good number of dogs there for Nala to play with. They have very fair pricing, especially for how professional and amazing the experience is. This is such a great and caring community for dogs and their owners. We used to bring our dog here for daycare until we couldn't keep our dog anymore. We were so happy to have found this place since they took such incredible care of our dog, from giving us access via camera to check up on him to brief reports given to us at the end of the day. We could tell that all the dog handlers really loved the dogs and looked out for their best interest. The prices are pretty reasonable and the site is clean and welcoming. The owner, Mark, has set up a pretty special place for all dogs here. We will miss sending our dog here, but have nice memories of his time at Dog Time. read more

I can't say enough about this place. Our Polly loves going here, and she gets great socialization and learning opportunities there. And you can watch them on your computer or phone from the cameras they have put around. Once Polly had a little medical issue and they took care of it right away and kept us informed. Mark has been taking care of our Basenjis since May 2009. Mark was able to develop a good rapport with the dogs right away. We were also very impressed for his knowledge about the Basenji breed. This was important for us because Basenjis can get into trouble very easily. Because of work, we travel a lot and would not be able to do this if we did not have somebody that we felt comfortable leaving the dogs with. We like the fact that Mark is always reachable and willing to give us an update. If he can not answer the phone right away, he calls back shortly. We also like the fact that he leaves us reports about how the dogs did while we were away, with photos included! For those of you who know Basenjis, they can be very aloof. Once I came home early from a trip and was home when Mark arrived, the Basenjis were very happy to see him and immediately approached him for pets...always a great sign! Another 5 stars for Dog Time. I have two small dogs that are new to the concept of doggie day care but they seem to be enjoying the experience. There are two separate play areas, one just for little dogs and one for the larger breeds. A staff member is always with the play group supervising and each dog is given time out to rest. They have an app for your phone so you can watch your fur baby play and you can snap a photo that downloads to your phone. The price is very reasonable and the staff are so nice,caring and organized. I know this sounds funny but when I pick my dogs up they even smell clean, not that old doggie smell. Each pooch must be screened prior to the first visit and reservations are needed. My dogs love Dog Time and so do I!!! read more

The worst thing I can say about Dog Time, is that our Lab just about yanks our arms off when we open the door to let him in the building. He loves to go and play all day with his doggie buddies. We drop him off in the morning and whenever we check him on the webcam he is happily running around. By the end of the day he is tired and ready for a rest. Mark and Tony are both great and make sure that our Dog has a great time. The staff handles all the dogs very well and we have never had any problems. While we have only used Dog Time for daytime play, we are playing several sleep-overs during the summer while we are out of town. We have complete trust in the staff and are certain that our dog will be very happy to be there. If you are looking for a place your dog will love, look no further than Dog Time! read more

This day care rocks! My dog Oreo love's this place so much. They handle the dogs very good and professionally. Mark is very friendly and understanding in handling all the dogs. If it wasn't for Mark to have open this day care I really don't know where Oreo will go when we go on vacations. Dog Time has really helped my dog with his anxiety problems when he is left at home by himself. Now he is a lot better then how he was before I see a big difference if we leave him home alone. Thanks to Tony & Mark for giving Oreo his bath even though he can be a pain. I seen other day care and overnight boarding services but this one is the only place that stands out in my mind that is super dog friendly, caring and they don't lock your dog up all day. The dogs get a lot of freedom to play around and run while they are indoor and enjoying each dogs company and also hanging out with the handlers. The facility is clean for the dogs to play so you don't have to worry about them getting all dirty. By the end of the day your pooch will be knocked out tired all the way home. you probably won't even hear a peep from them since they had so much fun. At home we can't speak the word day care or dog time any where near Oreo. This is how badly Oreo love's to go to day care. sometimes waking up early and standing near his bin thinking someone will pull out his leash to take him to out to dog time. He rather choose day care over his treats. often upset because he has to stay home and can't go. I am happy that he found this place to love and hang out when we have to do something. try this place out and your dog will love it just like mines! read more

So happy we discovered this outstanding dog sitter/grooming/playtime and over night stay retreat. Brought our three month old border collie lab mix for daytime play and koji played with other puppies in a safe and clean environment, She was so tired when she got home. Since that day last March, Koji has stayed overnight up to a week -- only five months old at that time, not a planned trip (funeral) and having the ability to watch her on the WebCam was great because I got to see what a good time she was having. She stayed another week when she was seven months old (a wedding out of state) and another great experience for her ... The other day it was too hot to play at the dog park so I brought her to Dog Time and she was jumping with happiness as we entered the door. The owner, Mark, very hands-on and cares about his business and Tony, the manager, is great with the dogs and owners requests. I can't say enough about this great place! read more

My dream would be to be a dog who gets to come here everyday or to live here! I could play with all the other doggies and get my mojo on. Sadly, my brother Bear and I have only spent a week here. What would you want for a dog play place? Friendly, happy caregivers in an interesting but clean environment with lots of safe, group play. Dog Time has it. According to the number of dogs at the play house, there are at least two groups of dogs: the littles and the the bigs. Each group have a caregiver who plays and pets them. I cant believe I haven't written a review for Dog Time yet, they have been invaluable to me and my dog Oliver. Short story: Its the best place on earth for your dog to go! I love love love these guys and most importantly so does my puppy! I couldn't have gotten through the last 8 months with out them. Long story: I was a little skeptical when I saw so many 5 star reviews, I thought maybe they were having their friends write reviews or somehow deleting bad ones, I just thought no place could be that great. Then I went there, and it really is that great! Price is right, the staff is amazing, my dog is always happy to go play because hes not locked in a kennel all day or just let out for 30 min breaks and it is so clean! They really care for him like he is one of their own dogs. I've used Dog Time for weekly day care, play time, and boarding. When Oliver was new to me, I was working midnights and it was so hard to get any sleep with a puppy around so I would take him to Dog Time for part of the day, he would come home pooped and I was able to function because i could sleep while he was gone. I've also left him for up to a full week while on vacation. The best part of boarding him here is I don't have to worry one bit and can actually relax and enjoy myself, that has been priceless. I also appreciate the videos and pictures they post so frequently on facebook, its such a comfort to see what hes doing while I'm away. Oliver goes crazy as soon as we start getting close to the facility and pulls so hard on his leash he starts to choke just to get inside. The guys are always so excited to see him when we get there and his tail wags like a mad man! I only have 2 things that I think could make Dog Time a tiny bit better. Half day rates, It would be awesome to bring him more often just for a few hours. I've also had problems accessing the live web cam. I think it is such a bonus to have this option but it has only worked for me about 3 times in the 7 or 8 times I've tried. But if those are my only 2 issues I think Oliver and I have found a gem!
